therapy, and more are advised by a pre-professional adviser
in University College. The Thomas Eimermann Pre-Law
Advisement Center is available for pre-law students.
10. The Honors Program enriches students’ learning and
supports the development of marketable skills. It offers
exceptional opportunities and resources to students from
all majors. Honors students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA
and an ACT in the upper 20s (or equivalent SAT).

years. With the option to live in Themed Living-Learning
Communities, you can meet people who share similar
interests. Our dining program is rated among the top 10

Our campus
Students love our walkable, accessible campus.
Sixty-six percent of on-campus students live within
a two-minute walk of the Quad. Walk to class, grab
lunch on Main Street, and then stroll into Uptown to
catch a movie.
The Redbirds are 19-1 in football at home since
renovating Hancock Stadium in 2013.
Forming the west border to campus is the Main
Street corridor, where you’ll find great eats
like Avanti’s, Chipotle, Meatheads, Noodles
Company, Potbelly, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, and
Buffalo Wild Wings.
Completed in 2011, the Student Fitness Center
has earned national recognition for being one
of the best in the nation.
Hovey Hall is home to Admissions and Financial
Aid. Come visit and take a tour!
Check out the Bird’s Eye View from the top of
Watterson Towers, the tallest residence hall in
the country. Its dining commons are a favorite for
our entire campus community.
Just steps from campus, the Uptown district
offers restaurants, boutique shops, a theater,
access to a 37-mile bike trail, and the multimodal
transportation center for bus and rail lines.
22. You want a better-than-normal college experience, and you’ll find it in Normal, Illinois. Uptown
is just steps away from campus and offers a variety of restaurants and shops to explore. The
Bloomington-Normal area boasts a population of 130,000 and is home to Fortune Top 50
employer State Farm, with several other large companies nearby—COUNTRY Financial, Caterpillar,
and Archer Daniels Midland. And whether you come by bus, train, or plane, Illinois State is only a
few hours from many major cities across the country.
23.
24. There’s never been a better time to be a Redbird! Our last three
freshman classes have been our largest in three decades, and it’s no
wonder. We rank among the top 10 percent of all schools in the country
on retention rate, graduation rate, and loan repayment. Redbirds have
fun, graduate on time, and find success—that’s reason to celebrate!
25. We know you’re concerned about making college affordable. So are we. More than 82 percent of our students receive
financial aid to help make their Illinois State dream a reality. All 2016 freshmen with at least a 25 ACT (or equivalent
SAT) and a 3.4 GPA received merit-based scholarships. Additionally, once you start at Illinois State, your tuition rate
will be locked in for four years, allowing you to plan for the future.
