It is the oldest Catholic university in Texas and the Southwest. LOCATION The campus is located northwest of downtown San Antonio, Texas, the seventh largest city in the nation. ADMISSION Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents must show a level of scholastic achievement that would indicate ability to succeed in an academic program at St. Mary’s. Applicants should submit all of the following documents: • Application for admission • Official evaluated transcript of secondary school and/or university transcript • National examination scores, if applicable • Official TOEFL/IELTS scores • A letter of recommendation by a school official • A personal essay St. Mary’s scholarship program is designed to recognize outstanding achievement. Partial scholarships range from $5,000 – $18,000 USD per year. Students are considered based on their application for admission. STUDENT LIFE Students are involved in more than 80 clubs and organizations, including fraternities and sororities, academic societies, cultural clubs, and intramural sports. ENROLLMENT There are around 2,440 undergraduates, plus 1,670 students in the Graduate School and School of Law. FACULTY 12:1is our student-to-faculty ratio, and the average class size is 22. Ninety-three percent of our faculty holds a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree. There are no teaching assistants, ensuring you learn directly from faculty. ATHLETICS St. Mary’s fields 11 NCAA Division II intercollegiate teams including men’s baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, and tennis, and women’s basketball, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. SPECIAL PROGRAMS The Greehey Scholars Program, Honors Program, and Marianist Leadership Program offer additional scholarships (ranging from $3,500 to $20,000 per year) to qualified applicants.
