1. My Research on Thrillers Movies
and Their Opening Titles.

2. My research on films such as “Psycho”.
We made a short opening credits video to see what it
would be like to create our own film. The images on the
left of these slides show research into our film including
our storyboard. To begin with, we had to create 6-10
photos and edit them to give a strange atmosphere and
create suspense or worry within the audience.
3. My research on films such as “Psycho”.
We took 7 photos on a very bright day and edited them
to give the images a darker colour because we wanted
to create a sense of worry and disturbance in the
audience. The idea behind the film was quickly thought
up. However, the original scenario was about everyone
in a school disappearing and there is a student trying to
figure out why they have disappeared. As we developed
our film the concept changed.
4. This Youtube video about the top thriller movie scenes is interesting because it gave me information on potential camera shots to
provide our film with specific visual concepts.
For example, using a particular angle to give a sense within the film of tension, suspense or concern. Because it was only one scene
from the selected films it was actually hard to understand the concept of how the character was feeling. I decided that the only way I
could fully understand how a film showed the emotions its characters were experiencing would be to watch a film.
Luckily my teacher Mr Lister had allowed me to borrow the film "Crash" from 2005. I found this film fascinating as there were a group
of people that the creators had picked with very specific characteristics. These people didn't know each other and in the end they had
all interacted with one another. I think that the film shows how people may think under certain circumstances.
For example, there was a point in the film where a shop owner had his shop raided. This was because his door was broken. He had
blamed it on the locksmith he had called earlier that day, who had said that he needed to replace the door. Later that day he took a
gun and tried to assault the locksmith as he thought it was the locksmiths fault. Luckily, the gun was unknowingly filled with blanks as
the locksmiths little girl jumped in front of her dad to protect him.
This scene sends off a very powerful message as viewers wouldn't have believed that a man with a family would be able to kill
another man with a family. It shows how humans all make mistakes and that there is no difference between how people may think,
because at the end of the day we are all capable of horrible things such as murder - it just depends on the situation.
Luckily, a lot of people aren't put in the position where they may feel like that's the only option.
