11. Part Of My FIlm Critic Essay
“The appearance of a boy at the beginning and the girl at the end symbolized a young generation
especially during two different periods of time: under military dictatorship in 1980s and the great
transformation of Korea in the 2000s when they had a stable economy and politics policies . Formal
detective Park came back to the first crime scene and met a girl which was the biggest plot twist in this
movie. “ Kind of plain, ordinary” - that was what she said when mentioning about a man who also came
back to this place like Park to remember something that he did in the past. The camera zoomed in to focus
on the girl’s face which made it looks like she was talking with us. After all this years, the detectives were
wrong, there was nothing special about the killer, he can be anyone because he has a normal appearance.
Perhaps, the killer represents to a generation who were influenced by violence, the deviation of moral
standard, suffered the loss of identity , nationality (Nogia 2016 ). In the end, the zooming scene focusing on
the face of detective Park expressed worry as he suddenly remembered something was important.
As stated by Martin Scorsese - a famous American director :“ Cinema is matter of what’s in the frame and
what’s out”. I watched again and again to understand the beauty of semiotics, the complex message which
was created by Bong Joon Ho - a man who is compared with Steven Spielberg in his hey day.”
12. Current Media Issue 14: The Dark Knight- Symbol of Hope
“Just like Two-Face, we all have two sides
to our faces: one is bad, one is good.
Everybody tries to become a better person,
but nobody is perfect. The madness, anger
and chaos we experience make it difficult
for us to decide who we really want to
become. Desmond Tutu, a famous South
African activist, once said, “Hope is being
able to see the light despite all of the
darkness.” It’s true. Despite everything,
there’s one powerful word that’ll always
guide us to the good side, and that word is
hope. “
13. Current Media: Issue 15: Flashback
“That’s how great writers utilize the creativity
of flashbacks — a magic spell to create an impact
on the audience’s perception and emotions.
Screenwriters are not magicians, yet their job is
making their fictional characters become real.
Flashbacks give them an opportunity to be
creative, to bring life into their fiction. And as
the audience, we laugh, we cry and we empathise
with the characters, because the happiness and
the pain have always been in our memories”

with horn and tail. He can be very beautiful
because he’s fallen angel and God’s favourite
son”
