An experienced results oriented supply chain management professional with demonstrated accomplishment of measured performance.
Managed Purchasing Teams supporting business factories for a major aerospace and defense contractor in Austin, Texas and Greenlawn,
NY. Annual site purchasing commitments exceeded $28M with an operating budget of $1.8M and a team of up to 23 direct and assigned
members. I was responsible for the establishment, management, and control of site purchases and establishing purchasing initiatives for
enterprise wide supply chain initiative initiatives and strategies. Performance period: 8 years. Major Accomplishments included:
o Increasing material quality for all suppliers from 75% to 98.7% over the past 6 years. Improving preferred supplier material
quality to 99.8% for production material. Both achievements against a target of 99.9% measured by Supplier Quality.
o Reducing incoming material costs by 5% annually, achieved through a variety of price reduction initiatives. Material cost
reduction for the Austin site exceeded $37M over the latest 5 years as a result.
o Concentrated the material production spend with 110 total sources (78% preferred suppliers under partnership agreements).
95% of all purchases were placed with preferred source suppliers. 70% of all material receipts were achieved through the
Supplier Managed Inventory process reducing incoming handling and inspection costs.
o Improved material delivery to original supplier promise dates by 20% (91% of receipts met factory production required dates.
o Improved purchase order cycle time from an average of 14 to 4 days and increased buyer throughout from 400 to 1800
transactions monthly.
Previously managed a site subcontracts department supporting two business lines on Long Island with annual expenditures of $100M, an
operating budget of $2M, with a team of 10 members. I had the responsibility for all aspects of the establishment, management, and
control of major subcontracts for highly complex mission critical systems. Performance period: 4 years. Accomplishments included:
o The successful delivery of $8.5M subcontract of an aerial reconnaissance system meeting schedule for delivery and
budget.
o Consolidated the terms and conditions and operating procedures of three merging companies into a single procedure set
that was identified as the benchmark process throughout the corporation.
o Established and implemented performance metrics to track cost savings, delivery attainment, and cycle time
improvement achieving $1.5M in cost reduction in the first year. Improved delivery performance by 55% increasing confidence
in ERP data.
o Established and implemented a reporting structure to improve subcontracts communication across the company through
the use of traffic light reporting data, monthly performance reviews, and quarterly subcontract business reviews.
Directed a global supply chain of strategic & tactical purchasing functions for corporate & production with annual expenditures in excess
of $300M, an operating budgets of $3M, with a direct and indirect team of 25 members composed of Purchasing & Commodity
Management, Tooling Engineers, Buyers, & Financial Analysts. Performance period: 8 years. Accomplishments included:
o Developed commodity strategies & best practice techniques, leading consistent measurable quality, cost, delivery, & cycle time
improvement generating customer satisfaction across the supply chain & operations organization.
o Reduced supply base by 65% to 278 sources, transitioned 95% of spend to Supplier Logistics Center (SLC) procurement model
(28 suppliers, $32M annual throughput (kanban, consignment, & assemble to order programs) improving cash management.
o Generated purchase cost reduction of 5-7% annually ($76M over 7 yrs.), reduced inventory by 52% in 18 months, achieved
material turns of 11.7 turns annually, and improved on time delivery meeting production goals for 33 consecutive quarters.
o Transitioned tactical procurement from NY to Mexico without impact to production performance or customer delivery.
o Outsourced 85% of printed circuit board assembly manufacturing while maintaining control of global sourcing & pricing.
Managed the materials and services supply chain for a major defense subcontractor in Southern California. Responsible for the
acquisition of all commercial off the shelf production electronics, capital acquisitions, construction services, and overhead requirements
supporting the Azusa site; with a team of 20 direct reports. Performance period: 12 years. Accomplishments included:
o The successful completion of a $1.5B Satellite Program subcontract on time & within budget, meeting customer expectations.
o Implementing a corporate procurement card program reducing cost and improving procurement cycle time efficiency.
o Completing the construction of a $10M corporate building on time and under budget.
o Achieving a 3% average annual cost reduction savings over a six year period on an annual spend of $90M.
