2. Computer Components
A computer device is made up of various
elements which help in its effective functioning
and processing. There are five basic
components of the computer which help in
making this processing of data easier and
convenient.
3. There are five basic components which
include:
1.Input Unit
2.Output Unit
3.Memory Unit
4.Control Unit
5.Arithmetical and Logical Unit
5. The four functions of a
Computer actually explain the core
reasons why it was built. They include:
•Data input
•Data processing.
•Information output.
•Data and information storage
7. Data entry is done manually, automatically or both. Manual input
is done via add-on peripherals like the keyboard, mouse and
stylus.
Data processing is the core function of a computer. Processing involves
manipulation of raw data into before converting it into meaningful
information.
When raw data has been manipulated by the microprocessor, the outcome
is meant to be disseminated for useful purposes.
A computer can store information internally and externally. The hard disk
drive (HDD) and/or solid-state disk drive (SSD) are internal storage
devices and serve to protect and house all data and information on a
computer.
13. The processor and relatively small cache memory can be fabricated on a
single IC chip. The internal speed of performing the basic steps of
instruction processing on chip is very high and is considerably faster than
the speed at which the instruction and data can be fetched from the main
memory. A program will be executed faster if the movement of
instructions and data between the main memory and the processor is
minimized, which is achieved by using the cache.
14. Suppose a number of instructions are
executed repeatedly over a short period of
time as happens in a program loop. If these
instructions are available in the cache, they
can be fetched quickly during the period of
repeated use. The same applies to the data
that are used repeatedly.
15. A Point to Point Connection is a private
data connection securely connecting two
or more locations for private data
services. A point to point connection is a
closed network data transport service
which does not traverse the public
Internet and is inherently secure with no
data encryption needed.
16. TIME SHARED COMMON BUS
Time-shared / Common Bus (Interconnection structure in Multiprocessor
System) : In a multiprocessor system, the time shar0ed bus interconnection
provides a common communication path connecting all the functional units
like processor, I/O processor, memory unit etc.
17. MULTI PORT MEMORY
The content of a multi-port memory can be accessed through
different ports simultaneously.
18. Short for peripheral component
interconnect, PCI was introduced
by Intel in 1992. The PCI bus came in both 32-
bit (speed of 133 MBps) and 64-bit versions and
was used to attach hardware to a computer.
Although commonly used in computers from the
late 1990s to the early 2000s, PCI has since
been replaced with PCI Express.
