3. Drinking water is a major source of microbial
pathogens in developing countries . Water-borne
disease causes more than 2million deaths &
4billion cases of diarrhoea. Water-borne diseases
can become major problems after natural
disasters if large numbers are forced to live
temporarily in crowded areas with poor
sanitation and limited supplied of safe water.
4. Disease acquired by drinking water
contaminated at it’s source or in the distribution
system, or by direct contact with environmental
and recreational water.
It results from- 1.Infection with pathogenic
micro-organisms.
2. chemical poisoning
8. *Safe water is a precondition for health and
development and a basic human right.
*Water related diseases caused by insufficient
safe water supplies coupled with poor
sanitation and hygiene.
9. The water treatment undergoes through this
processes-
1. Screening
2. pH correction
3. Coagulation and flocculation
4. Sedimentation
5. Pre-chlorination and de-chlorination
6. Filtration
7. Disinfection
8. pH adjustment
10. *Provide an overview of drinking water sources,
monitoring, regulation, treatment, and health
considerations.
*Discuss origins of water supply problems-natural and
human induced.
11.
12. Community awareness about water quality and
diseases was very low. Occurrence of water-
borne diseases like diarrhea, typhoid, malaria,
skin diseases, and stomach diseases among the
community was an indication of contaminated
drinking water, bad sanitation.so government
should not only aware people but provide them a
pure drinking water. That will make a wealthier
and healthier India.
