Example Of A Theoretical Orientation Paper
The way the concept theoretical orientation relates to me being a student studying Social Work I have been introduced to theories that offer
understandings to help to assist clients with their problems. Theories are basic guiding tools to help practitioners to interact with our clients and to
help shape our professional identity. The approach that I am most interested in is the Decisional model, Loge therapy, and person centered
Counseling. Decisional Counseling process makes decisions by assisting the client by defining problem, Generating alternative problems and
assisting the client with taking action .Loge Therapy is the process that assists the client with finding their purpose this will assist clients to be able
to undergo any hardships that they may encounter. Person Centered Counseling is the process that the client is in control of what they want to do as
a practitioner we facilitate the process. The way I will start to build my competence using the uses of theories are inside of my practicum. My field
placement is at The Boys& Girls Club I believe that the Decisional Counseling approach will be useful because of the services the Boys & Girls Club
provide for the youth so that can be successful. There has numerous situations when students received consequences because of their negative behavior.
Using this method I could try to get...show more content...

Advising, and advocating. My practicum was at the Boys & Girls club so I have not been able to witness or assist with intake process, or actually
doing interventions with my clients. To further my development in the field I believe that I need to be more experience in working in a clinical

Harvard Case Study Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls campaign this season is hanging in the balance. Currently, they are sitting at the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference division holding
a 21–22 win–loss record. Recent reports are saying that they considering of trading Jimmy Butler and it looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves could
be a potential destination for him.
Since the start of this year, Butler has been a regular figure in the rumor mills that floated online. Although he was previously linked to trade rumors
last year, those gossips never run off and just fade away. But now, rumblings reports are spreading that he is allegedly again put on the trading block
by the Bulls trying to explore a plausible deal for him.
On the other hand, the Minnesota Timberwolves are struggling to get their form as they continue to slide down the Western Conference standing. Up
until now, Timberwolves new president and head coach...show more content...
Trade scenario is suggesting that the Bulls will receive Ricky Rubio and Andrew Wiggins from the Timberwolves while Jimmy Butler will head West
and join Karl–Anthony Towns in the Timberwolves lineup.
Having Rubio and Wiggins on the Bulls roster will surely benefit them. The Bulls badly need a replacement for their disgruntled starting point guard
Rajon Rondo and Rubio seems to be fit for that spot. Meanwhile, Wiggins is an upcoming player that have the potential of becoming a superstar
someday.
On the other hand, Butler will reunite him with coach Thibodeau so familiarity to the system will not be a problem. Playing him alongside Zach
Lavine and Karl–Anthony Towns will definitely give the Timberwolves a competitive lineup. The trade will also work under NBA trade and salary
cap rules making it a legal deal for both teams as verified with ESPN NBA Trade Machine.

Hacking Into Harvard Case Study
As time goes by, ethical and moral issues have been brought up for long periods of time and these issues are recently becoming the rising problem to
be discussed in society, business area and daily life. Most of people generally understand that the general meaning of ethics equals to the meaning of
moral. However, moral is basically a matter of individual conscience without forcibleness, but ethics are related to social system with forcibleness. The
academic definition of ethics is described as a stem of philosophy which raises moral questions and is demonstrated what is the main characteristic of
morality and the way in which moral standards are decided (Gray & Webb, 2010).
According to the case study of 'Hacking into Harvard', the offending...show more content...
Its general outline is the moral rightness of an action is determined by outcomes. For example, a student was struggling to help an old lady who
has fallen on ground while other people do not even care about it and a student had to leave in a hurry. However, he helped her and a lady offered
cordial thanks. As the example is illustrated, the act is good if its consequences are good, but if its consequences are bad then the act is wrong.
Shaw et al(2013, p. 63) emphasizes that consequentialists determine what is right by weighing the ratio of good to bad that an action will produce.
According to consequentialists, the decision of the Dean of Harvard Business School is simply explained as the result of decision which rejected all
applicants who attempted to access the information derive a conclusion which Dean Clark observed their belief, principles and it shows making own
decisions is always with responsibility for actions. In addition, utilitarianism will be applied on this case because this theory is in contrast with
egoism which can be defined by Shaw et al(2013, p. 63) as egoism contends that an act is morally right if and only if it best promotes an agent's long
term interest.'. It means self–interesting is most important key point whether going into action or not. However, Utilitarianism is focused on more

Gender-Career IAT Essay
In this study, I chose to participate in the Presidential Popularity IAT and the Gender–Career IAT. In the Presidents study, I was required to recognize
photos of Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and then categorize both with bad and good words (i.e. Barack Obama with good words and Bill Clinton
with bad words, and vice versa). In the Gender–Career IAT, I had to categorize female and male names with either words associated with family or
with career (i.e. female name with family words and male name with career words, and vice versa). In the Presidential Popularity IAT, my data
suggested a strong automatic preference for Barack Obama over Bill Clinton, Meaning that I had a faster response when Barack Obama was

Summer Program Application Essay
The reason as to why I am applying for this summer program is because of the opportunity that it provides. Programs such as these gives the unique
opportunity to explore multiple different career paths. But, not only does it provide a learning opportunity, it also allows a cultural one. Being able
to travel and live in a foreign country at such a young age is one of the most memorable and amazing things that you can do. I believe that if accepted
into this program, that I will do my very best to prove myself dedicated as a student because I want to spend my life learning and preparing myself for
the real world as a careered woman. I have not yet solidified what I would like to be in the future, but as of this moment, I hope to possibly become

I have always loved looking and participating in art classes, although I am not the best artist, and I enjoy learning about the history behind different

learn about the connections and effects that occur between so many different nations, and learn about how they interact with one another. I feel like
I could provide an interesting perspective to this program, for the main reason of having been apart of programs similar to this one during previous
summers. I work well with others, and I always try to keep an open mind as to avoid biases and to be more empathetic and understanding towards
others. I am very adaptive to my surroundings even if that means changing topics within a classroom discussion. Something else about me is that I am
what is known as an ambivert. This means that I sit in the scale between being and introvert and an extrovert. Although iI do tend to sway more

Harvard Concept
Harvard Concept (Fisher and Urgy) "Getting to Yes" (also called the Harvard concept) describes a method called principled negotiation to reach an
agreement whose success is judged by three criteria: 1. It should produce a wise agreement if agreement is possible. 2. It should be efficient. 3. It
should improve or at least not damage the relationship between the parties. The authors argue that their method can be used in virtually any negotiation.
Issues are decided upon by their merits and the goal is a win–win situation for both sides. Below is a summary of some of the key concepts from the
book. The four steps of a principled negotiation are: 1. Separate the people from the problem 2. Focus on interests, not...show more content...
Step 3: Invent Options for Mutual Gain The authors feel that a common problem with many negotiations is there are too few options to choose
from. Little or no time is spent creating options. This, they feel, is a mistake. There are four steps to generating options: 1. Separate inventing
from deciding. Like in any brainstorming session, don't judge the ideas people bring forward, just get them on the board. 2. Broaden the options
on the table rather than look for a single answer. Remember the men at the library? The only option they saw was opening or closing the window
in the room they were both sitting in. In fact, there are many options: borrow a sweater, open a window in another room, move to a different spot,
etc. 3. Search for mutual gain. In a negotiation, both sides can be worse off and both sides can gain. Principled negotiations are not about "I win"
and "you lose". 4. Invent ways of making the other party's decisions easy. Since a successful negotiation requires both parties to agree, make it easy
for the other side to choose. This is where putting yourself in the other person's shoes can be very valuable. What might prevent "Bob" from agreeing?
Can you do anything to change those things? Step 4: Insist on Using Objective Criteria Principled negotiations are not battles of will. There is no
winner and you don't need to push your position until the other

Essay On Harmony
What is Harmony, and how does it play in society? My definition of Harmony is a relationship in which people of many different cultures exist together
or live in the same city without destroying one another. Also, people from the same culture can view things differently, for example, the new generation
of teenagers are very attached to technology while the generations of the past are still not accustomed to all the different changes that are happening
simultaneously with technology. The definition of Harmony is not the same as it was decades ago, Confucius explained that in order to live in
Harmony, an individual had to be an ideal person and by being an ideal person they had to listen to what their ancestors had said to them and follow

This relates to the way that I interpreted Harmony because humans just want to be understood so that people from different cultures can live in the
same setting without destroying one another. One way in which society can live together is by practicing cultural barrowing, which is when an
individual or a group of individuals show appreciation for a culture that is not their own. Secondly, from the article titled the good as Harmony, the
author, Sidney Zink states "The term seems to serve partly in an effort to develop a substitute for the traditional ethics of value" (1). I certainly agree
with Zink's statement, because Harmony can also be looked as traditional ethics, if an individual wants to live in peace, he must ignore all the negatives
that surround him that interfere with their lifestyle. The term Harmony has gradually changed its meaning throughout the years, the article titled The
Good as Harmony states "Plato and Aristotle conceived the harmonious relations to secure a certain relation among the various parts of human nature
or the state, whereas the modern writer speaks in terms of interest and values" (Zink 1). In the past, Confucius explained that in order to become an
ideal individual, we had to listen to what our ancestors were telling us; to be respectful to one another, to obey and to never lie. Today, living in
Harmony is being

1.1a ExercisePhysical inactivity is one of the modifiable risk factor for the coronary heart diseases (Devries et al, 2011), and therefore exercise is
used as an integral component of the primary and secondary prevention in reducing mortality and improving the quality of life. Upon reviewing the
literature, the author found that, patients' perspective about physical exercise differs widely. In their study Holder et al (2015) found that, the increased
awareness of the mortality after the cardiac event, help the patients to change their outlook towards life and this further help them to realise the health
benefit of exercise. In addition to that, some of the patients claimed that, exercise helped to divert their mind and thus helps them to cope with the
condition (Holder et al, 2015). Moreover, the current cardiac rehabilitation programme, made the patients aware of the health benefits of exercise and,
therefore they were motivated to continue the exercise (Hillsdon et al, 2013; Morken et al, 2013). Exercising in a safe environment, under the
supervision of the trained staff increases the confidence of patients in participating exercise (Morken et al, 2013). The study also found that, the patient
increases their self–confidence level in performing exercise, after seeing the health improvements in the former cardiac patients (Morken et al, 2013).

Narrative Essay About Having A Dream
Everyone has a dream. Whether it's small or big...we all have one. We also give up on them. We get stuck in the idea that our ideas are too far–fetched
either because of other people's comments or because of our own self–doubt. We allow ourselves to forget about them and move on to things we
believe are better for us. To things that although don't make us happy, are what society tells us is the right way to live. It's hard to have adream and keep
it. The world we live in today is so cruel that a lot of times we don't even bother to dream anymore. We've gotten to the point where dreaming is just
that. A dream.
Yet, for my mom, that wasn't the case.

it was the fact that I could have done it and my mom would be completely okay with it and made it seem perfectly normal that helped me to never quit
on my dreams.
Her experience growing up wasn't at all how she made mine. Her mother and step father never encouraged or supported her. Growing up my mother
struggled a lot. She had to grow up a lot faster than most kids and had to deal with the real world way before she should have had to. She was never
pushed to do better or told that her dreams could come true.
Since she was little she was always having to take care of her three sisters. She wasn't allowed to go out a lot so she was always home studying or in
her room. She was so restricted in her own home that even now I can't imagine how terrible that must have felt. To constantly have to worry not only
about yourself but for other people when you haven't even reached puberty.
Her stepfather was the worst of all. He would always put her down and would try to make her feel like nothing. She didn't even have protection from
her own mother, because her mom would never say anything about it. She just let it happen.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the frequency of posttraumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) after a critical illness. The study also wanted to
research influential elements or commonalities amongst the people who developed PTSD. The design of this study was a prospective co–hort study,
which observed a group of people that experienced critical illness over time and then that group was assessed for signs and symptoms of a specific
outcome, in this case PTSD. The sample population for the study was comprised of 52 participants that met the inclusion criteria. These 52

benzodiazepines use was found. Scoring low on the SOC was found to be a strong indicator for PTSD, participants that scored low were found to have
less family support and high external locus of control. Some of the strengths of this study are the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the investigators were
able to find an appropriate and relatively large sample population with homogenous characteristics. The investigators believe strength is the time of

Gender was a massive factor for writers in the 19th century, as Herman Melville explores in "Bartleby, the Scrivener." In "Bartleby, the Scrivener,"
Herman Melville presents Bartleby as an employed scrivener. He is the person that copies documents for the narrator in the story. This work was not
uncommon for someone like Bartleby in the 19th–century society. The society approved of the male professional writer, but Bartleby refused this
profession and through his "I would prefer not to" statements, he challenges the standards held to him by society, reinforcing his individualism. In
"Bartleby, the Scrivener,"multiple examples imply acceptance ofwriting as a male profession. For example, what seems to be everyone at the office is
men. "At the period just preceding the advent of Bartleby, I had two persons as copyists in my employment, and a promising lad as an office boy.
First, Turkey; second, Nippers; third, Ginger Nut" (Melville ). This shows that the office is comprised of men including Turkey, Ginger Nut, Nippers,
and also the narrator when he states he is a "rather elderly man" (1). From this, you can see that this work environment is more of a place for men
rather than women. The narrator also mentioned men being the main workers earlier in the story. The narrator states, "The nature of my avocations for
the last thirty years has brought me more than ordinary contact with an interesting set of men––I mean the law–copyists, or scriveners" (3). Through his
labor in law, and through the years of employing scriveners, he has only come in contact with him. Women weren't considered upon any mention of
the scrivener's position as well as professional writers. Also, Turkey and Nippers were actual copyists, but the young Ginger Nut is the "promising
lad as an office boy." They are teaching "Ginger Nut" the ropes and hope that he also becomes acopyist. Ginger Nut isn't a perfect candidate because
he is an aspiring writer, but mainly because he is a male, and would, therefore, fit the standard set by society and the narrator. Furthermore, the Narrator
gives nicknames to his three employees, which can be

Argumentative Essay On Memorials
Memorializing events in the history of the world for any purpose has it's positives as well as the negatives. Ranging from a memorial of a popular
United States president from a loved one of a family, memorials have generally served as a purpose of remembrance from the past of said event. The
purpose of the memorial is usually associated with a positive, uplifting feeling towards the deceased individual or past event. While this is more or
less simply defining what memorials are for, what is the meaning behind them? What purpose do they serve besides the simplicity that they are?
Important messages from a few varied sources will give a differing viewpoint on memorials from one to another. The first thought of memorials is the

Memorials are meant to be striking in the sense that you will notice said memorial and donate some attention to it. The views of these see this attention

what could be lurking inside the memorial, or what is near that memorial. What we've got here is a formula, striking looks of the monument is almost
guaranteed to attract some form of attention. According to Source G, the analogy of tainting the planet with specific memorials are ridiculous, "I
imagined taking a knife and cutting into the earth, opening it up, an initial violence and pain that in time would heal. The grass would grow back, but
the initial cut would remain a pure flat surface in the earth with a polished, mirrored surface, much like the surface on a geode when you cut it and

people and their names would allow everyone to respond and remember. The ideals of such nonsensical placements of the memorials are just irritable at

Living With Less By Graham Hill
I always knew people liked to consume more than what they need, but never really considered how it affects our environment. Until I read an
article by Graham Hill called "Living with Less. A lot Less." In this article, Hill argues that individuals obtain products one doesn't need. Secondly,
he mentions how purchasing these products won't make you happy, but can do the exact opposite. Lastly, Hill argues how living with less
merchandise can make us feel and live happier. As a result, I compared my life to his and realized he's right having less might give us the
opportunity to explore further. I agree with Hill's argument that one tends to buy more than what they use. I, for instance, am one of those
individuals. Hill mentions this by saying "Members of every socioeconomic bracket can and do deluge themselves with products" (Hill 1). For
instance, I remember when I received my first payment from babysitting. I was thrilled with the idea of finally being able to rely on myself to buy
all the things I wanted. So, I headed towards the mall and went on a shopping spree. As a result, I arrived home with bags of merchandise as I
unloaded them I became aware I had bought a lot of things I didn't need. As the days passed I became conscious of how I didn't use much of what I
had bought but bought them because I liked the idea of being able to buy whatever I wanted without having anyone tell me what I couldn't buy. Not

Descriptive Essay About Music
I grab the white headphones and put the EarPods into my ears. Then, I go through a variety of songs until my thumb lingers over the song "You
Know Me" by a band named Thunder Dreamer. Quickly, I click play and the world around me stops as the music enters my ears. The soft guitar

and how happy I am in this moment. By this I mean that hearing music is the equivalent of being at peace. To be more specific, music puts me in every
place I've ever felt happiness, tastes as sweet as it sounds and relaxes my overwhelming thoughts.
With this said, I am on top of the world when I have the headphones in my ears. I feel as though I can do anything when I am blasting a song by

way, the music penetrates through the walls and through every layer of skin on my body. I know this high level of noise is not good for me, but
the music is. Uniquely, music places me back into every dream I've ever forgotten. I am suddenly placed into the dream where I'm a kid and I am

Example Of A Theoretical Orientation Paper

  • 1. Example Of A Theoretical Orientation Paper The way the concept theoretical orientation relates to me being a student studying Social Work I have been introduced to theories that offer understandings to help to assist clients with their problems. Theories are basic guiding tools to help practitioners to interact with our clients and to help shape our professional identity. The approach that I am most interested in is the Decisional model, Loge therapy, and person centered Counseling. Decisional Counseling process makes decisions by assisting the client by defining problem, Generating alternative problems and assisting the client with taking action .Loge Therapy is the process that assists the client with finding their purpose this will assist clients to be able to undergo any hardships that they may encounter. Person Centered Counseling is the process that the client is in control of what they want to do as a practitioner we facilitate the process. The way I will start to build my competence using the uses of theories are inside of my practicum. My field placement is at The Boys& Girls Club I believe that the Decisional Counseling approach will be useful because of the services the Boys & Girls Club provide for the youth so that can be successful. There has numerous situations when students received consequences because of their negative behavior. Using this method I could try to get...show more content... I am experience and have strengths in participating in group work, conducting surveys, implementing programs, community outreach, Mentoring, Advising, and advocating. My practicum was at the Boys & Girls club so I have not been able to witness or assist with intake process, or actually doing interventions with my clients. To further my development in the field I believe that I need to be more experience in working in a clinical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Harvard Case Study Chicago Bulls The Chicago Bulls campaign this season is hanging in the balance. Currently, they are sitting at the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference division holding a 21–22 win–loss record. Recent reports are saying that they considering of trading Jimmy Butler and it looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves could be a potential destination for him. Since the start of this year, Butler has been a regular figure in the rumor mills that floated online. Although he was previously linked to trade rumors last year, those gossips never run off and just fade away. But now, rumblings reports are spreading that he is allegedly again put on the trading block by the Bulls trying to explore a plausible deal for him. On the other hand, the Minnesota Timberwolves are struggling to get their form as they continue to slide down the Western Conference standing. Up until now, Timberwolves new president and head coach...show more content... Trade scenario is suggesting that the Bulls will receive Ricky Rubio and Andrew Wiggins from the Timberwolves while Jimmy Butler will head West and join Karl–Anthony Towns in the Timberwolves lineup. Having Rubio and Wiggins on the Bulls roster will surely benefit them. The Bulls badly need a replacement for their disgruntled starting point guard Rajon Rondo and Rubio seems to be fit for that spot. Meanwhile, Wiggins is an upcoming player that have the potential of becoming a superstar someday. On the other hand, Butler will reunite him with coach Thibodeau so familiarity to the system will not be a problem. Playing him alongside Zach Lavine and Karl–Anthony Towns will definitely give the Timberwolves a competitive lineup. The trade will also work under NBA trade and salary cap rules making it a legal deal for both teams as verified with ESPN NBA Trade Machine. Will the Chicago Bulls trade Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Ricky Rubio and Andrew Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Hacking Into Harvard Case Study As time goes by, ethical and moral issues have been brought up for long periods of time and these issues are recently becoming the rising problem to be discussed in society, business area and daily life. Most of people generally understand that the general meaning of ethics equals to the meaning of moral. However, moral is basically a matter of individual conscience without forcibleness, but ethics are related to social system with forcibleness. The academic definition of ethics is described as a stem of philosophy which raises moral questions and is demonstrated what is the main characteristic of morality and the way in which moral standards are decided (Gray & Webb, 2010). According to the case study of 'Hacking into Harvard', the offending...show more content... Its general outline is the moral rightness of an action is determined by outcomes. For example, a student was struggling to help an old lady who has fallen on ground while other people do not even care about it and a student had to leave in a hurry. However, he helped her and a lady offered cordial thanks. As the example is illustrated, the act is good if its consequences are good, but if its consequences are bad then the act is wrong. Shaw et al(2013, p. 63) emphasizes that consequentialists determine what is right by weighing the ratio of good to bad that an action will produce. According to consequentialists, the decision of the Dean of Harvard Business School is simply explained as the result of decision which rejected all applicants who attempted to access the information derive a conclusion which Dean Clark observed their belief, principles and it shows making own decisions is always with responsibility for actions. In addition, utilitarianism will be applied on this case because this theory is in contrast with egoism which can be defined by Shaw et al(2013, p. 63) as egoism contends that an act is morally right if and only if it best promotes an agent's long term interest.'. It means self–interesting is most important key point whether going into action or not. However, Utilitarianism is focused on more about 'achieving the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In the Presidents study, I was required to recognize photos of Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and then categorize both with bad and good words (i.e. Barack Obama with good words and Bill Clinton with bad words, and vice versa). In the Gender–Career IAT, I had to categorize female and male names with either words associated with family or with career (i.e. female name with family words and male name with career words, and vice versa). In the Presidential Popularity IAT, my data suggested a strong automatic preference for Barack Obama over Bill Clinton, Meaning that I had a faster response when Barack Obama was associated with good words than Bill Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Summer Program Application Essay The reason as to why I am applying for this summer program is because of the opportunity that it provides. Programs such as these gives the unique opportunity to explore multiple different career paths. But, not only does it provide a learning opportunity, it also allows a cultural one. Being able to travel and live in a foreign country at such a young age is one of the most memorable and amazing things that you can do. I believe that if accepted into this program, that I will do my very best to prove myself dedicated as a student because I want to spend my life learning and preparing myself for the real world as a careered woman. I have not yet solidified what I would like to be in the future, but as of this moment, I hope to possibly become ...show more content... I have always loved looking and participating in art classes, although I am not the best artist, and I enjoy learning about the history behind different art techniques. But I think that international relations would be something that is absolutely amazing to learn about because through this I could learn about the connections and effects that occur between so many different nations, and learn about how they interact with one another. I feel like I could provide an interesting perspective to this program, for the main reason of having been apart of programs similar to this one during previous summers. I work well with others, and I always try to keep an open mind as to avoid biases and to be more empathetic and understanding towards others. I am very adaptive to my surroundings even if that means changing topics within a classroom discussion. Something else about me is that I am what is known as an ambivert. This means that I sit in the scale between being and introvert and an extrovert. Although iI do tend to sway more towards the introverted side, but only for the reason that I can get lost in my own thoughts or go for hours without taking a break from a book that I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Harvard Concept Harvard Concept (Fisher and Urgy) "Getting to Yes" (also called the Harvard concept) describes a method called principled negotiation to reach an agreement whose success is judged by three criteria: 1. It should produce a wise agreement if agreement is possible. 2. It should be efficient. 3. It should improve or at least not damage the relationship between the parties. The authors argue that their method can be used in virtually any negotiation. Issues are decided upon by their merits and the goal is a win–win situation for both sides. Below is a summary of some of the key concepts from the book. The four steps of a principled negotiation are: 1. Separate the people from the problem 2. Focus on interests, not...show more content... Step 3: Invent Options for Mutual Gain The authors feel that a common problem with many negotiations is there are too few options to choose from. Little or no time is spent creating options. This, they feel, is a mistake. There are four steps to generating options: 1. Separate inventing from deciding. Like in any brainstorming session, don't judge the ideas people bring forward, just get them on the board. 2. Broaden the options on the table rather than look for a single answer. Remember the men at the library? The only option they saw was opening or closing the window in the room they were both sitting in. In fact, there are many options: borrow a sweater, open a window in another room, move to a different spot, etc. 3. Search for mutual gain. In a negotiation, both sides can be worse off and both sides can gain. Principled negotiations are not about "I win" and "you lose". 4. Invent ways of making the other party's decisions easy. Since a successful negotiation requires both parties to agree, make it easy for the other side to choose. This is where putting yourself in the other person's shoes can be very valuable. What might prevent "Bob" from agreeing? Can you do anything to change those things? Step 4: Insist on Using Objective Criteria Principled negotiations are not battles of will. There is no winner and you don't need to push your position until the other Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. Essay On Harmony What is Harmony, and how does it play in society? My definition of Harmony is a relationship in which people of many different cultures exist together or live in the same city without destroying one another. Also, people from the same culture can view things differently, for example, the new generation of teenagers are very attached to technology while the generations of the past are still not accustomed to all the different changes that are happening simultaneously with technology. The definition of Harmony is not the same as it was decades ago, Confucius explained that in order to live in Harmony, an individual had to be an ideal person and by being an ideal person they had to listen to what their ancestors had said to them and follow ...show more content... This relates to the way that I interpreted Harmony because humans just want to be understood so that people from different cultures can live in the same setting without destroying one another. One way in which society can live together is by practicing cultural barrowing, which is when an individual or a group of individuals show appreciation for a culture that is not their own. Secondly, from the article titled the good as Harmony, the author, Sidney Zink states "The term seems to serve partly in an effort to develop a substitute for the traditional ethics of value" (1). I certainly agree with Zink's statement, because Harmony can also be looked as traditional ethics, if an individual wants to live in peace, he must ignore all the negatives that surround him that interfere with their lifestyle. The term Harmony has gradually changed its meaning throughout the years, the article titled The Good as Harmony states "Plato and Aristotle conceived the harmonious relations to secure a certain relation among the various parts of human nature or the state, whereas the modern writer speaks in terms of interest and values" (Zink 1). In the past, Confucius explained that in order to become an ideal individual, we had to listen to what our ancestors were telling us; to be respectful to one another, to obey and to never lie. Today, living in Harmony is being Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Upon reviewing the literature, the author found that, patients' perspective about physical exercise differs widely. In their study Holder et al (2015) found that, the increased awareness of the mortality after the cardiac event, help the patients to change their outlook towards life and this further help them to realise the health benefit of exercise. In addition to that, some of the patients claimed that, exercise helped to divert their mind and thus helps them to cope with the condition (Holder et al, 2015). Moreover, the current cardiac rehabilitation programme, made the patients aware of the health benefits of exercise and, therefore they were motivated to continue the exercise (Hillsdon et al, 2013; Morken et al, 2013). Exercising in a safe environment, under the supervision of the trained staff increases the confidence of patients in participating exercise (Morken et al, 2013). The study also found that, the patient increases their self–confidence level in performing exercise, after seeing the health improvements in the former cardiac patients (Morken et al, 2013). • 11. Narrative Essay About Having A Dream Everyone has a dream. Whether it's small or big...we all have one. We also give up on them. We get stuck in the idea that our ideas are too far–fetched either because of other people's comments or because of our own self–doubt. We allow ourselves to forget about them and move on to things we believe are better for us. To things that although don't make us happy, are what society tells us is the right way to live. It's hard to have adream and keep it. The world we live in today is so cruel that a lot of times we don't even bother to dream anymore. We've gotten to the point where dreaming is just that. A dream. Yet, for my mom, that wasn't the case. My mother was born on March 24, 1973, in a small village in Guatemala. She grew up there...show more content... She sat me down and said well why not do both. I remember when she said that I was so happy. We began to think of how I could do both and came up with the idea of a singing lawyer. It was probably the worst idea we've ever had. I don't even think it would have worked out well either, but it was the fact that I could have done it and my mom would be completely okay with it and made it seem perfectly normal that helped me to never quit on my dreams. Her experience growing up wasn't at all how she made mine. Her mother and step father never encouraged or supported her. Growing up my mother struggled a lot. She had to grow up a lot faster than most kids and had to deal with the real world way before she should have had to. She was never pushed to do better or told that her dreams could come true. Since she was little she was always having to take care of her three sisters. She wasn't allowed to go out a lot so she was always home studying or in her room. She was so restricted in her own home that even now I can't imagine how terrible that must have felt. To constantly have to worry not only about yourself but for other people when you haven't even reached puberty. Her stepfather was the worst of all. He would always put her down and would try to make her feel like nothing. She didn't even have protection from her own mother, because her mom would never say anything about it. • 12. Harvard Trauma Case Study Essay The purpose of this study was to investigate the frequency of posttraumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) after a critical illness. The study also wanted to research influential elements or commonalities amongst the people who developed PTSD. The design of this study was a prospective co–hort study, which observed a group of people that experienced critical illness over time and then that group was assessed for signs and symptoms of a specific outcome, in this case PTSD. The sample population for the study was comprised of 52 participants that met the inclusion criteria. These 52 participants were among an initial participant pool of 209 patients. The initial participants were carefully reviewed and some were excluded from the study based on a...show more content... The investigator also found a decreased Glasgow Coma Scale rating increased the participants' risk of developing PTSD. The investigators found that a loss of consciousness either through augmented coma or spontaneous coma did not prevent PTSD. The investigators did not find that early treatment with pain medication helped prevent latter PTSD signs and symptoms. A positive correlation between PTSD and the increased frequency of benzodiazepines use was found. Scoring low on the SOC was found to be a strong indicator for PTSD, participants that scored low were found to have less family support and high external locus of control. Some of the strengths of this study are the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the investigators were able to find an appropriate and relatively large sample population with homogenous characteristics. The investigators believe strength is the time of follow–up and the predicative factor of the study over time. Strength of this study is the large amount of assessments that were utilized to evaluate the participant's psychological status and the careful evaluation of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Quickly, we try to apply all of the advice given to us from the hundreds of doctors we visit to help calm his violent tremors. He keeps shaking. Next thing I know, we're back in an all too familiar hospital with a doctor we know all too well. My upbringing has taught me to face unpredictability and chaos with confidence, to say the least. Growing up with a family of eight, my house was always loud, a bit cluttered and scantily supervised. If one of the seven foster dogs wasn't barking, my siblings weren't arguing, or there wasn't a heap of clothing scattered across the floor, you'd know something wasn't right. I could spill hydrogen peroxide...show more content... I realized that growing up with a brother who suffers from an unknown neurological issue has been influential in my decision to study neuroscience, but my inherent love for science and people were what made neuroscience my passion. After this epiphany, I made a choice to take matters into my own hands. From taking the most rigorous AP courses to taking summer chemistry classes to further understand what I may have not in previous years, I have dedicated my education to be one that will enable me to help families like my own, and people like my brother. However, my learning does not stop once I leave the classroom, but rather spreads throughout my entire life. From first–hand experiences in shadowing neurosurgeons in my community, to working alongside scientists at the Van Andel Research Institute in researching the effects of Parkinson's Disease, I try to get my hands on as many opportunities to learn as I can find. I know that the road to becoming a contributor to the field of neuroscience will be long and hard, but what keeps me going is the dream that maybe one day, I will know how to stop Diego's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Colton Cummins Professor Stief ENGL–2327.702 American Literature To 1865 10 December 2017 (Title) Gender was a massive factor for writers in the 19th century, as Herman Melville explores in "Bartleby, the Scrivener." In "Bartleby, the Scrivener," Herman Melville presents Bartleby as an employed scrivener. He is the person that copies documents for the narrator in the story. This work was not uncommon for someone like Bartleby in the 19th–century society. The society approved of the male professional writer, but Bartleby refused this profession and through his "I would prefer not to" statements, he challenges the standards held to him by society, reinforcing his individualism. In "Bartleby, the Scrivener,"multiple examples imply acceptance ofwriting as a male profession. For example, what seems to be everyone at the office is men. "At the period just preceding the advent of Bartleby, I had two persons as copyists in my employment, and a promising lad as an office boy. First, Turkey; second, Nippers; third, Ginger Nut" (Melville ). This shows that the office is comprised of men including Turkey, Ginger Nut, Nippers, and also the narrator when he states he is a "rather elderly man" (1). From this, you can see that this work environment is more of a place for men rather than women. The narrator also mentioned men being the main workers earlier in the story. The narrator states, "The nature of my avocations for the last thirty years has brought me more than ordinary contact with an interesting set of men––I mean the law–copyists, or scriveners" (3). Through his labor in law, and through the years of employing scriveners, he has only come in contact with him. Women weren't considered upon any mention of the scrivener's position as well as professional writers. Also, Turkey and Nippers were actual copyists, but the young Ginger Nut is the "promising lad as an office boy." They are teaching "Ginger Nut" the ropes and hope that he also becomes acopyist. Ginger Nut isn't a perfect candidate because he is an aspiring writer, but mainly because he is a male, and would, therefore, fit the standard set by society and the narrator. Furthermore, the Narrator gives nicknames to his three employees, which can be Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Argumentative Essay On Memorials Memorializing events in the history of the world for any purpose has it's positives as well as the negatives. Ranging from a memorial of a popular United States president from a loved one of a family, memorials have generally served as a purpose of remembrance from the past of said event. The purpose of the memorial is usually associated with a positive, uplifting feeling towards the deceased individual or past event. While this is more or less simply defining what memorials are for, what is the meaning behind them? What purpose do they serve besides the simplicity that they are? Important messages from a few varied sources will give a differing viewpoint on memorials from one to another. The first thought of memorials is the simple, generic...show more content... Memorials are meant to be striking in the sense that you will notice said memorial and donate some attention to it. The views of these see this attention capturing as exceedingly high for some purposes. Some memorials are outstanding in their craftsmanship and aesthetics. This makes people wonder what could be lurking inside the memorial, or what is near that memorial. What we've got here is a formula, striking looks of the monument is almost guaranteed to attract some form of attention. According to Source G, the analogy of tainting the planet with specific memorials are ridiculous, "I imagined taking a knife and cutting into the earth, opening it up, an initial violence and pain that in time would heal. The grass would grow back, but the initial cut would remain a pure flat surface in the earth with a polished, mirrored surface, much like the surface on a geode when you cut it and polish the edge. The need for the names to be on the memorial would become the memorial; there was no need to embellish the design further. The people and their names would allow everyone to respond and remember. The ideals of such nonsensical placements of the memorials are just irritable at the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Living With Less By Graham Hill I always knew people liked to consume more than what they need, but never really considered how it affects our environment. Until I read an article by Graham Hill called "Living with Less. A lot Less." In this article, Hill argues that individuals obtain products one doesn't need. Secondly, he mentions how purchasing these products won't make you happy, but can do the exact opposite. Lastly, Hill argues how living with less merchandise can make us feel and live happier. As a result, I compared my life to his and realized he's right having less might give us the opportunity to explore further. I agree with Hill's argument that one tends to buy more than what they use. I, for instance, am one of those individuals. Hill mentions this by saying "Members of every socioeconomic bracket can and do deluge themselves with products" (Hill 1). For instance, I remember when I received my first payment from babysitting. I was thrilled with the idea of finally being able to rely on myself to buy all the things I wanted. So, I headed towards the mall and went on a shopping spree. As a result, I arrived home with bags of merchandise as I unloaded them I became aware I had bought a lot of things I didn't need. As the days passed I became conscious of how I didn't use much of what I had bought but bought them because I liked the idea of being able to buy whatever I wanted without having anyone tell me what I couldn't buy. Not only does Hills argument make sense but also makes an important Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Descriptive Essay About Music I grab the white headphones and put the EarPods into my ears. Then, I go through a variety of songs until my thumb lingers over the song "You Know Me" by a band named Thunder Dreamer. Quickly, I click play and the world around me stops as the music enters my ears. The soft guitar strums put an end to my over thinking and suppresses my feelings of sadness. By the time the vocals appear in the song, I can only think about music and how happy I am in this moment. By this I mean that hearing music is the equivalent of being at peace. To be more specific, music puts me in every place I've ever felt happiness, tastes as sweet as it sounds and relaxes my overwhelming thoughts. With this said, I am on top of the world when I have the headphones in my ears. I feel as though I can do anything when I am blasting a song by Cage the Elephant on my speaker. Whether I am listening through my headphones or on a speaker, the volume is always the highest it can be. This way, the music penetrates through the walls and through every layer of skin on my body. I know this high level of noise is not good for me, but the music is. Uniquely, music places me back into every dream I've ever forgotten. I am suddenly placed into the dream where I'm a kid and I am laughing as my friends try to catch me in a game of tag. In a matter of three beats, I am a child again and I can only thank music for this. Moreover, when I hear Frank Sinatra's voice playing from my "Classics" playlist, I am put back into the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
