Each One Teach One Reflection
In spring 2014, I volunteered to run the Each One Teach One program. As the editor, I had to lead discussions and facilitate exchange of essays.
Although every participant in the program was African American, I had recently immigrated to the United States and had a strong accent. Initially, a
majority of the group were not committed to the program and I tried to connect to get them to engage fully, but my background seemed to set me apart
from the other students. One of the first things I learned was that it was okay to be different from the others and appropriating their culture made it
harder to get across to them. Connecting with them worked best when I was patient and willing to listen. With time, I realized that although we had

My Motivation For Being A Teacher Essay
My motivation for being a teacher comes from somewhere deep within my heart and soul. I love children. I love the look that comes across their
faces when they finally grasp a concept after they have been trying to truly understand it. I had a lot of teachers that made an impact on me and I
want to have the same impact on as many children as possible. My teachers installed a love of learning in me. There is no better profession than
teaching for those who want to learn. One is learning just as much from their students, if not more, than what they teach. Teaching is rewarding
and involves making the world a better place. That is my calling. To change the world, one person at a time, by showing love to each and every
person I meet. Weather it be one of my students or one of their parents, I want to be Christ's light just like my teachers were for me. I want to be the
support system that shows each and every one of my students that they can do anything they put their mind to. Not only can they shoot for the
stars, but they can shoot far beyond. After all, I was once just a kid from a small farm town that no one knows about. Now I've been on 4 mission
trips, I travel all around, and I moved half way across the country to chase my dreams. I am here because I was impacted by my high school history
teacher/ musical director, Mr. Wittig. He pushed me to chase my dreams and to follow my heart and not to let anything get in my way. I want to share
what I have with every child I can,

During my K–12 education I feel that it taught me how to fake it until I make it. You think school teaches you how to be an adult in the real world
but it only teaches you how to be complaint. I never really thought about what I gained as a member of society. I think school tried to teach me
where my place is. I learned how even though this is 2017 and women don't have to sit and look pretty, students are expected to sit and look pretty
so to speak. For 12 years to earn a piece of paper I learned that I am expected to follow traditional rules and methods. I am expected to do as my
teacher says because their title is teacher that means according to society they are smarter and better than you. I learned that my opinion and my
thoughts have no merit compared to people with more experience. So thank you to 12 years of sitting in a class for 8 hours everyday to learn how to
fake compliance.
In the Working class schools, Knowledge was described as a set of facts to be learned. Creativity was not important enough to be incorporated into the
curriculum. During Elementary and Middle school we were taught to sit still and memorize facts, information and that there is one way of doing things,
the teachers way. This form of education teachers individuals to follow other people's way of thinking and behaving. This is how schools prepare the
future workforce population to follow the leader. In this type of setting students aren't taught to think for themselves or solve problems with new ways
of thinking or unconventional methods. Teachers want you to be compliant and those who resist are perceived as a somehow less functioning member
of society.Students act out and refuse to do the tasks given to them in class not because they don't want to learn but because the teachers aren't teaching
them. So people who refuse to accept the Hidden curriculum integrated in our education are perceived as drop outs, stupid, bad kids instead of being
seen as kids looking to be taught not going to school and memorize what is already written. In the Middle class school, knowledge was presented as
understanding curricular material. There was less fact memorization and an encouragement for students to understand the content of the

During my time on the PGDE Course both in University based learning, and more evidently during my Professional Practise placements, I have come
to realise the significance of reflection within the teaching profession. Not only does reflecting on best practise benefit the children's learning but also
increases the teacher's confidence and ability in making decisions and delivering lessons. 'Reflective teaching is a great deal to do with facing such
features of ourselves in a constructive and objective manner which incorporates a continuous capacity to change and develop' (Moon, 2004).
Since embarking on the course I now question my own actions and assess the best alternatives to develop my practise by taking constructive criticism

'Reflective teachers need to be able to relate their findings to those of others and to consider results in the context of the current debates about
educational issues' (Pollard, 2008). Having a range of theorist's viewpoints, tried and tested ways of teaching, and working with more experienced
professionals has furthered my knowledge and understanding. I do not believe teachers are required to know everything there is to know about all
subjects but will have more expertise in some subjects than others. The subjects and topics which they have limited experience in will require a
professional commitment in order to research. This research ultimately builds teacher's knowledge and understanding to plan more interesting and
effective lessons. Curriculum for Excellence is allowing teachers more flexibility to organise and deliver the experiences and outcomes in a more
effective way for learners. In delivering the various curricular areas I have become more confident in subjects which I felt less confident in at the start
of the course.
I have found that through additional reading I am better equipped to question and suggest methods tried by others in professional disscussions. I found
that attending In–service day training and Continued Professional Development (CPD) sessions has increased my knowledge and understanding
allowing me to develop lessons which are more rewarding for the

My Teaching Philosophy Essay
My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and
teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college.
Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack
for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they
will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show

The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not
only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore
different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made
repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are
not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized
themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his
or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student
recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the
teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more

We Are All One Essay
Each of the three major religions in the world shares moral precepts that underscore a fundamental unity. Christianity, Judaism and Islam address
diverse issues of morality in their sacred texts. With two billion worshipers, Christianity is the largest religion in the world and is practiced in
Europe, North and South America and Africa. The Christians' sacred text is the Bible which consists of the Old and New Testament. However, the
four Gospels in the New Testament describe the saving work of God and his son Jesus Christ and give a guide to important morals .The main day of
worship for Christians is on Sunday and many believers gather at churches, cathedrals and chapels to give reverence to their Creator. The second

Lastly, Judaism is the third major religion in the world. It is practiced mostly in Israel, Europe and the United States of America. The founder of this
religion is Moses or Abraham. Each Saturday the Jews gather in a synagogue to worship God. The Torah is Judaism's sacred text. It contains stories and
commandments that teach us about life and death. The Jewish people live in a tightly knit community. They believe they are connected with each other
and encourage all Jews to be a part of their Jewish community (<http://www.religionfacts.com/islam/comparison_charts/

Although each religion is different in many ways they all share common beliefs. All three religions are monotheistic and believe a higher being
created them. They believe in order to get into heaven a person must do good acts. Each religion has a sacred text that gives morals to govern people
on the right path. They all have forms of conduct that are used to guide the people. Despite each religion's similarities, they all share slightly different
views on important moral issues such as homosexuality, abortion and suicide. Homosexuality is a sexual attraction or behavior between members of
the same sex or gender. Christians believe it is not wrong to have an attraction to someone of the same sex but it is wrong to act on a sexual thought.
Therefore, homosexuals must refrain from sexual acts. Although there are many denominations of Christianity, Catholics welcome

A Successful Educator Essay
The primary goal of an educator is to provide a student with the tools needed to accomplish lifelong goals as an adult. Specifically, each teacher is
charged the responsibility to equip a student with the knowledge and skills that will contribute to his/her cumulative educational goals. All too often,
students do not come to school with an unconditional love of learning. The educators therefore, have the ominous task of educating, motivating and
coaching the often disinterested young person. Often, the best teachers are those that find ways to connect with their students. They therefore, find
ways to encourage connections to the students short and long term goals. Many times, students do not find it easy to identify goals. Younger...show

Students who are well taken care of and live in safe happy environments are therefore, better equipped to succeed in a learning environment. Educators
must be observant of the student's well being and willing to facilitate intervention if a student is in distress. Teachers often have to make difficult
decisions to protect their students. By law if an educator suspects child abuse or neglect, it must be reported to the proper authorities. There may be
times when a teacher has to go against the student's wishes to protect him/her but, the educator must consequently adhere to "what is in the best
interest of the child." A successful teacher of flourishing students is involved in the school community. Many times their day is lengthened as they
choose to become integrated into other aspects of their students' lives. Teachers see other sides of students when they are willing to participate in
extracurricular activities. Interaction with their students in non–learning environments thus, gives the educator additional tools to help in the
educational process. Interactions such as this allow teachers to take their students interests and integrate them into the classroom learning environment.
Learning should not be limited to the traditional classroom. Moreover, there are many "teachable moments" that can be utilized outside the classroom.
Team sports, student government, debate team, etc. provides the

Reflection Of My Teaching Experience
Teaching is not just a job that I perform because I expect a reward at the end of each month; it is my passion and I feel extremely satisfied with every
successful lesson. I like to help the society, and teaching gives me a great opportunity to do so. I am passionate about educating my students, so I work
with them and motivate them to lead them to find inspiration in learning. I use different strategies to engage them and share with them the knowledge.
As a teacher, I believe that I play a crucial role in the success of every learning process. To guarantee that learning will take place, I make sure to create

The observation's reflection has already influenced the way I plan and teach. Reflecting on my work helped me improve my teaching strategies and
gain the ability to schedule plans that respond to the students' needs. In my opinion, observation is one of the most successful strategies that are used in
the practicum course to support teachers. I believe that AUD has formed an enthusiastic teaching and learning community.
I learned a tremendous amount of information and experiences since my enrollment in the ME program. I learned to be flexible, remain open to
continuous learning, and improve my career. I am also learned about the importance of time and about the importance of education in our life. I give the
credit of all of that to the reflection strategy.
During my learning experience, I had the opportunity to re–skill myself and learn new strategies to support my mission as a teacher. Recently, the
Practicum course has helped me live an authentic experience by transferring my learning and understanding into reality. I share knowledge, experience,

Essay about Teachers and Students
Teachers and Students
The education habits of students are rooted in them from the earliest days of their educational careers. The different influences on students, whether it
be inside educational institutions, or outside is huge. The teacher of a classroom is the first and most pertinent influence in a student's educational career.
Teachers provide students with the basic skills they would need to survive not only in the academic world, but also the world beyond. The relationship
between teachers and their students is the key element in creating an educational atmosphere that is both pleasant and effective.
The experience of a student at school, especially at a younger age, in most cases sets the main base of the skills of that...show more content...
Unconsciously or not, they consistently reinforce and reward more 'feminine' behavior. Although it may be true that boys are more active than girls,
but to say that they are treated differently is to be overly generalizing the situation. A teacher is supposed to be able to handle different types of
children in the classroom, and cater to their activeness or passiveness in a class. For example, a teacher would try to involve a quiet and shy student
as often as possible. The same goes for an active child; the teacher should be able to find activities for that child which would not only educate them,
but also keep them busy.
Thomas provides various arguments as to how boys and girls are different; therefore they are treated differently in a classroom. It cannot be argued
that boys and girls are different, especially at such a young age, but to say that teachers specifically do treat boys in a rougher manner would be going
too far. Thomas introduces the idea that society instills ideas of prejudice towards women in young boys, so that when they do go into a classroom
governed by a female teacher, they are predisposed to be defiant and unruly. In my opinion, it is unfair to judge teachers based on the performance of
their students on various tests. Thomas's article introduces the idea that as the number of female teachers is increasing, the performance of boys in
school is declining. One much question whether it is in fact the teachers who cause this

Being a Teacher
Is your life important to you? That is a statement anyone would replay, "yes" to. As surprising as it may seem, though, an important, successful life
would not even be, without one essential element: teachers.
Teachers, educators, instructors, mentors, or baby–sitters, whatever they may be classified as, they are necessary for many reasons. They are
foundation or our American society, they are a source of security, and possibly the parents some never had.
They are the foundation of our American society, meaning they educate everyone. Attending school, whether it is public, private, or home taught is
mandatory in America at a certain age. Therefore, all the basics of life...show more content...
Those are just a few illustrations of the obligations teachers have. These should not be considered obligations, but honors. Who would not want to be
such an influential role model in others' lives?
As I begin my teaching career and the years prior to it, many ideas and decisions will take place. Being that I plan to teach elementary school and
deal with small children, I plan to be excessive on classroom accessories. Children have a limited attention span and a dull, plain room would not be
appealing to them. The adjustment of leaving "mommy" will be hard enough for them anyway. I hope to make the environment comforting and
welcoming for them. Bright colored bulletin boards and posters with needed information on them. I would like my students seated around the room in
a circle. From experience, I've found that children feel more at ease and apt to speak up when seated this way.
I believe the teacher should be authoritative, especially in the lower grades. The students need to know who is in charge and feel that there is
someone of authority to look up to. Still yet, I want the children to feel a sense of authority, to make decisions and play a leadership role. Possibly, let
one child be "leader of the day" each day; for example, lead the lines or pass out the papers.
Motivation and discipline, I view as the primary topics of educating a classroom. Children have to be motivated, it is human

My Teaching Experience Essay
When I first come to Saint Cloud High School, I was uncertain of how I would fit into the world of education as a teacher, in fact, this was my
first teaching practice. After completing a few observations, I changed my view and recognized my teaching abilities. I was able to learn many
different things that will be helpful to me when I become a certified teacher someday. Although I could face many possible challenges in the
classroom, I have many of the strengths it takes to be a good teacher. There were many times during this field training that gave me a broad idea of
how the ordinary life of a teacher would go. Similarly, I got a profound sense of how the classroom environment is for most instructors. In general, I
believe this was a pleasant experience for me, and I learned a lot in such a brief period.
The educational unit I executed has an element of my instruction beliefs that students should connect and relate theme content to real life situations
inside and outside the teaching space. Therefore, during my teaching experience, I feel compromise and responsible for meeting my students' needs and
that is why I included many visuals aids and plenty of flexible activities. Hence, this unit involved a mixture of student and teacher–centered strategies
such as direct instruction, drill and practice of the unit vocabulary, lectures, dialogues, question and answer sessions, discussions with exchanges of
opinions and perspectives, discovery learning events and presentations

It has not been easy but challenging and interesting. Unfortunately in this present job I have no colleagues, institution authorities or supervisors, which
means anything I do in the classroom hardly ever provides me any feedback of what I am doing. Except of course for the eventual commentaries I
receive from my students and the annual performance evaluation. Therefore I had this urgent necessity of obtaining some refreshment and reviewing
of what I am doing in my classroom. I need to make a stop to reflect about how effective my teaching is. If the things I am doing are adequate and
suitable to take my pupils to achieve their goal to communicate in the target language. Teaching in this context was at the beginning of the journey a
frightening and stressing episode, first of all because I did not know anything about mining, geology, finance and accounting, just to mention some and
not to make myself look like a complete ignorant. Secondly the atmosphere in a corporate has nothing to do with the informal ambience in an
elementary school and thirdly but not least important, the students expectations and perceptions are not the same. Thus, I had to remake myself.
Everything started when I was invited to work with them; I did the typical searching about the company and the leaders, anyone would do for that first

Each One Teach One Summary
The purpose for recommending individual exercises, is to couple them with the African American proverb "Each One Teach One." This concept was
created in the U.S. when an enslaved person was taught to read or write, which was a privilege denied to many if not almost all, that their duty was to
teach someone else. This term is still used within the African Americanculture and is a great way to emphasize the value in community cultural wealth.
Moreover, this will allow individuals to enhance their knowledge, understanding, and value of lived experience within the cultures of People of Color
so that "Each One CAN Teach One!"
There are ten exercises that individuals can do that will educate them with on the value of other cultures and have a better understanding of their role in
racial microaggression situations: (1) learn about your unconscious bias, (2) lean about microaggressions, (3) read texts written by People of Color, (4)
take ownership when you have made a mistake, (5) work continuously on cultural proficiency, (6) obtain literature through ethnic agencies on racial
/cultural information, (7) attend conferences, workshops...show more content...
The first, is learning about your unconscious bias. This requires that the individual is "honest with themselves," which means they are willing to
acknowledge their bias and work towards addressing these areas of concern. One method to uncover these bias is by taking the Implicit Association
Test (IAT) offered online by Harvard University to measure the attitudes and beliefs that people unwilling or unable to report (Project Implicit &
Harvard University, 2011). The next exercise is learning about microaggressions. This can be accomplished by utilizing the references in this essay,
such as McCoy & Rodricks (2015), Sue (2007) and Yosso (2005) to gain further knowledge about the

Precious Movie Essay
In the begging of the movie, Precious, the main character Precious Jones was on Level 1 according to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. I know this
because she only had her basic necessities such as food, water, sleep, and shelter. At home she wasn't being shown love nor affection instead she was
being sexually, physically, and mentally abused. Additionally, she was receiving abominable treatment from hermother, she mentally abused her by
calling her stupid, fat, ugly, dummy, etc. Another reason I know this is because Precious wasn't safe and didn't feel safe in her home, her mother
threw things at her, hit her with things like pots and pans, and threatened her diurnally. The final reason I know that Precious was at Level 1
according to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is because she wasn't being pushed or trying to achieve anything in life. The way Precious got from her
lowest level to her highest level of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is when she enrolled at Each One Teach One. When Precious became astudent at Each

Reflection On Micro Teaching
This essay will analyse and highlight on the fifteen–minute micro teaching reflection that is vital for the self–evaluation and professional development
of my teaching practice. It will further identify my strengths and weaknesses through my peer assessment and reflect on the teaching and learning
theories, methods and strategies that are linked and practiced in my micro–teach.
According to the teachers' standards (DfE, 2012) "teachers make the education of their learners their first concern, keep their knowledge up to date and
are self–critical." Therefore, this reflection practice will guide me towards the improvement on my lesson planning strategies and delivery. In addition,
it will also make an enormous difference in my teaching and learning practice which is vital for teacher training.
One of the significant part of this course is micro teaching session, in this session we are required to deliver fifteen–minute planned lesson containing
learning outcome. Furthermore, this session was recorded and observed by the peers to evaluate. Due to my interest in ESOL I decided to deliver my
session on "Boogle Puzzle" to embed a simple literacy/numeracy activity aims to target ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) learners. In
this task, pupils are given activity to make seven – ten words in the English language from the word grid to improve word recognition and spellings.
Based on reflection of my micro–teaching I provided learners with the basic instructions on "Boggle puzzle" and opted for potential instruction
strategy. I used present, practice and produce strategy (English language resource, 2017) to allow pupils to practice and learn new vocabulary in
co–operative way. Similarly, I used co–operative learning method to encourage pupils to learn from each other and gain interpersonal skills. According
to Johnson and Johnson (1995) co–operative learning method have proven effective in increasing motivation, self–esteem and problem solving. Thus,
to enhance inter dependency, the class was divided into two main groups of fours and were further divided into pairs, to finish their task. According to
Mercer (1985) effective communication is as cognitive and social development are intertwined,

Differentiated Instruction Essay
In today's educational environment, all students expect to receive the same level of instruction from schools and all students must meet the same set of
standards. Expectations for students with learning disabilities are the same as students without any learning difficulties. It is now unacceptable for
schools or teachers to expect less from one segment of students because they have physical disabilities, learning disabilities, discipline problems, or
come from poor backgrounds. Standardize testing has resulted in making every student count as much as their peers and the most positive impact has

Effective differentiated instruction reflects where the students currently are in their educational stage and not where a teacher wishes them to be. This
step is important; placing students either too high or too low in the instruction can be adverse to the teacher's goal of helping all students. Developing
lesson strategies for students that are too demanding may have a negative effect on performance and reinforce negative emotions concerning learning.
Likewise, developing lesson strategies that do not challenge students to perform at their best can also have a negative effect. Some students that are not
engaged by a teacher's instruction are left adrift waiting for new or more stimulating material. Engaging students in the learning strategy is the key
ingredient in producing active learners. When teachers develop differentiated instruction strategies for students they provide several different avenues
for the student to achieve the same learning goal regardless of which path they choose. Student choice in which avenue they ultimately select creates a
sense of ownership with the students and actively engages them in the lesson. The different avenues all lead to the same learning goal just as many
roads might lead to one destination. Differentiated thinking empowers teachers to be responsive rather than reactive to the unique and individual
personalities,

Compare And Contrast Traditional Teaching Styles
No teachers are similar as well as no students learn in the same way. Every teacher has their own unique teaching style which is based on their
educational philosophy, their classroom's demographic, what subject area they teach, and the school's mission statement. Up until now, teachers are
looking for a system that will engage students in the educational process and will develop the students' critical thinking skills. Moreover, teachers want
the classroom to be in order and in control, but they also want their students to appreciate the learning procedure. These teaching styles can be divided
into two approaches – the teacher–centered and learner–centered.
Traditional teaching styles use teacher–centered approach. It includes a teacher that stands at the front and tells students step by step instructions. The
teacher decides what is learned, when it is learned, how it is learned, and how learning is evaluated. In a nutshell, the teacher is an information giver
and evaluator. The students are just there to learn through lessons and direct instructions. Their attention is mainly focused on passing tests,
assessments, and evaluations.
Through the years, many successful people have came from the traditional setting. The earliest recorded occurrence of education proved that people

Argumentative Essay On The Movie Precious
Precious, directed by Lee Daniels is based on the novel, Push by Sapphire. By following Claireece Precious Jones's life story, the viewers are
compelled to understand how certain situations can force people to make poor decisions. The movie demonstrates how the education system, family,
and the welfare system can be a trap for individuals in poverty.
It is common in many schools to advertise that education is the way out of poverty. However, as shown in Precious, publicschool in poor neighborhoods
are not conducive to learning. The public–school system was unable to help Precious when she was pregnant, instead, she was expelled from school.
At an alternative school, Each One, Teach One, Precious met Blu Rain, her new teacher. The symbolism in Ms. Rain name represents a new, fresh start
for Precious. While the public–school system fails to motivate Precious, at Each One, Teach One, Precious learn how to read and to speak out in class.
For most people, family provides a support system in troubling time. In some cases, family can trap children into an unhealthy lifestyle and a negative
mindset. Ironically, Sapphire uses the name Mary to represent Precious's mother. The name Mary alludes to the Mother of Jesus, which the viewers
expect to be a caring. However, Mary is a loving mother only in Precious's imagination. Mary frequently puts down Precious's intelligence and
discourage her from pursuing her education. By doing this, Mary would protect her welfare lifestyle and make

Each One Teach One Reflection

  • 1. Each One Teach One Reflection In spring 2014, I volunteered to run the Each One Teach One program. As the editor, I had to lead discussions and facilitate exchange of essays. Although every participant in the program was African American, I had recently immigrated to the United States and had a strong accent. Initially, a majority of the group were not committed to the program and I tried to connect to get them to engage fully, but my background seemed to set me apart from the other students. One of the first things I learned was that it was okay to be different from the others and appropriating their culture made it harder to get across to them. Connecting with them worked best when I was patient and willing to listen. With time, I realized that although we had different Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Motivation For Being A Teacher Essay My motivation for being a teacher comes from somewhere deep within my heart and soul. I love children. I love the look that comes across their faces when they finally grasp a concept after they have been trying to truly understand it. I had a lot of teachers that made an impact on me and I want to have the same impact on as many children as possible. My teachers installed a love of learning in me. There is no better profession than teaching for those who want to learn. One is learning just as much from their students, if not more, than what they teach. Teaching is rewarding and involves making the world a better place. That is my calling. To change the world, one person at a time, by showing love to each and every person I meet. Weather it be one of my students or one of their parents, I want to be Christ's light just like my teachers were for me. I want to be the support system that shows each and every one of my students that they can do anything they put their mind to. Not only can they shoot for the stars, but they can shoot far beyond. After all, I was once just a kid from a small farm town that no one knows about. Now I've been on 4 mission trips, I travel all around, and I moved half way across the country to chase my dreams. I am here because I was impacted by my high school history teacher/ musical director, Mr. Wittig. He pushed me to chase my dreams and to follow my heart and not to let anything get in my way. I want to share what I have with every child I can, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. During my K–12 education I feel that it taught me how to fake it until I make it. You think school teaches you how to be an adult in the real world but it only teaches you how to be complaint. I never really thought about what I gained as a member of society. I think school tried to teach me where my place is. I learned how even though this is 2017 and women don't have to sit and look pretty, students are expected to sit and look pretty so to speak. For 12 years to earn a piece of paper I learned that I am expected to follow traditional rules and methods. I am expected to do as my teacher says because their title is teacher that means according to society they are smarter and better than you. I learned that my opinion and my thoughts have no merit compared to people with more experience. So thank you to 12 years of sitting in a class for 8 hours everyday to learn how to fake compliance. In the Working class schools, Knowledge was described as a set of facts to be learned. Creativity was not important enough to be incorporated into the curriculum. During Elementary and Middle school we were taught to sit still and memorize facts, information and that there is one way of doing things, the teachers way. This form of education teachers individuals to follow other people's way of thinking and behaving. This is how schools prepare the future workforce population to follow the leader. In this type of setting students aren't taught to think for themselves or solve problems with new ways of thinking or unconventional methods. Teachers want you to be compliant and those who resist are perceived as a somehow less functioning member of society.Students act out and refuse to do the tasks given to them in class not because they don't want to learn but because the teachers aren't teaching them. So people who refuse to accept the Hidden curriculum integrated in our education are perceived as drop outs, stupid, bad kids instead of being seen as kids looking to be taught not going to school and memorize what is already written. In the Middle class school, knowledge was presented as understanding curricular material. There was less fact memorization and an encouragement for students to understand the content of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. During my time on the PGDE Course both in University based learning, and more evidently during my Professional Practise placements, I have come to realise the significance of reflection within the teaching profession. Not only does reflecting on best practise benefit the children's learning but also increases the teacher's confidence and ability in making decisions and delivering lessons. 'Reflective teaching is a great deal to do with facing such features of ourselves in a constructive and objective manner which incorporates a continuous capacity to change and develop' (Moon, 2004). Since embarking on the course I now question my own actions and assess the best alternatives to develop my practise by taking constructive criticism from...show more content... 'Reflective teachers need to be able to relate their findings to those of others and to consider results in the context of the current debates about educational issues' (Pollard, 2008). Having a range of theorist's viewpoints, tried and tested ways of teaching, and working with more experienced professionals has furthered my knowledge and understanding. I do not believe teachers are required to know everything there is to know about all subjects but will have more expertise in some subjects than others. The subjects and topics which they have limited experience in will require a professional commitment in order to research. This research ultimately builds teacher's knowledge and understanding to plan more interesting and effective lessons. Curriculum for Excellence is allowing teachers more flexibility to organise and deliver the experiences and outcomes in a more effective way for learners. In delivering the various curricular areas I have become more confident in subjects which I felt less confident in at the start of the course. I have found that through additional reading I am better equipped to question and suggest methods tried by others in professional disscussions. I found that attending In–service day training and Continued Professional Development (CPD) sessions has increased my knowledge and understanding allowing me to develop lessons which are more rewarding for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Teaching Philosophy Essay My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college. Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show more content... The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. We Are All One Essay Each of the three major religions in the world shares moral precepts that underscore a fundamental unity. Christianity, Judaism and Islam address diverse issues of morality in their sacred texts. With two billion worshipers, Christianity is the largest religion in the world and is practiced in Europe, North and South America and Africa. The Christians' sacred text is the Bible which consists of the Old and New Testament. However, the four Gospels in the New Testament describe the saving work of God and his son Jesus Christ and give a guide to important morals .The main day of worship for Christians is on Sunday and many believers gather at churches, cathedrals and chapels to give reverence to their Creator. The second largest religion in...show more content... Lastly, Judaism is the third major religion in the world. It is practiced mostly in Israel, Europe and the United States of America. The founder of this religion is Moses or Abraham. Each Saturday the Jews gather in a synagogue to worship God. The Torah is Judaism's sacred text. It contains stories and commandments that teach us about life and death. The Jewish people live in a tightly knit community. They believe they are connected with each other and encourage all Jews to be a part of their Jewish community (<http://www.religionfacts.com/islam/comparison_charts/ islam_judaism_christianity.htm>). Although each religion is different in many ways they all share common beliefs. All three religions are monotheistic and believe a higher being created them. They believe in order to get into heaven a person must do good acts. Each religion has a sacred text that gives morals to govern people on the right path. They all have forms of conduct that are used to guide the people. Despite each religion's similarities, they all share slightly different views on important moral issues such as homosexuality, abortion and suicide. Homosexuality is a sexual attraction or behavior between members of the same sex or gender. Christians believe it is not wrong to have an attraction to someone of the same sex but it is wrong to act on a sexual thought. Therefore, homosexuals must refrain from sexual acts. Although there are many denominations of Christianity, Catholics welcome Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. A Successful Educator Essay The primary goal of an educator is to provide a student with the tools needed to accomplish lifelong goals as an adult. Specifically, each teacher is charged the responsibility to equip a student with the knowledge and skills that will contribute to his/her cumulative educational goals. All too often, students do not come to school with an unconditional love of learning. The educators therefore, have the ominous task of educating, motivating and coaching the often disinterested young person. Often, the best teachers are those that find ways to connect with their students. They therefore, find ways to encourage connections to the students short and long term goals. Many times, students do not find it easy to identify goals. Younger...show more content... Students who are well taken care of and live in safe happy environments are therefore, better equipped to succeed in a learning environment. Educators must be observant of the student's well being and willing to facilitate intervention if a student is in distress. Teachers often have to make difficult decisions to protect their students. By law if an educator suspects child abuse or neglect, it must be reported to the proper authorities. There may be times when a teacher has to go against the student's wishes to protect him/her but, the educator must consequently adhere to "what is in the best interest of the child." A successful teacher of flourishing students is involved in the school community. Many times their day is lengthened as they choose to become integrated into other aspects of their students' lives. Teachers see other sides of students when they are willing to participate in extracurricular activities. Interaction with their students in non–learning environments thus, gives the educator additional tools to help in the educational process. Interactions such as this allow teachers to take their students interests and integrate them into the classroom learning environment. Learning should not be limited to the traditional classroom. Moreover, there are many "teachable moments" that can be utilized outside the classroom. Team sports, student government, debate team, etc. provides the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Reflection Of My Teaching Experience Teaching is not just a job that I perform because I expect a reward at the end of each month; it is my passion and I feel extremely satisfied with every successful lesson. I like to help the society, and teaching gives me a great opportunity to do so. I am passionate about educating my students, so I work with them and motivate them to lead them to find inspiration in learning. I use different strategies to engage them and share with them the knowledge. As a teacher, I believe that I play a crucial role in the success of every learning process. To guarantee that learning will take place, I make sure to create a learning environment that is relevant to the students' background. Throughout my teaching experience, I learned how to love my students,...show more content... The observation's reflection has already influenced the way I plan and teach. Reflecting on my work helped me improve my teaching strategies and gain the ability to schedule plans that respond to the students' needs. In my opinion, observation is one of the most successful strategies that are used in the practicum course to support teachers. I believe that AUD has formed an enthusiastic teaching and learning community. I learned a tremendous amount of information and experiences since my enrollment in the ME program. I learned to be flexible, remain open to continuous learning, and improve my career. I am also learned about the importance of time and about the importance of education in our life. I give the credit of all of that to the reflection strategy. During my learning experience, I had the opportunity to re–skill myself and learn new strategies to support my mission as a teacher. Recently, the Practicum course has helped me live an authentic experience by transferring my learning and understanding into reality. I share knowledge, experience, and communication, which increase my awareness in a way to understand the change and implement new ways of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay about Teachers and Students Teachers and Students The education habits of students are rooted in them from the earliest days of their educational careers. The different influences on students, whether it be inside educational institutions, or outside is huge. The teacher of a classroom is the first and most pertinent influence in a student's educational career. Teachers provide students with the basic skills they would need to survive not only in the academic world, but also the world beyond. The relationship between teachers and their students is the key element in creating an educational atmosphere that is both pleasant and effective. The experience of a student at school, especially at a younger age, in most cases sets the main base of the skills of that...show more content... Unconsciously or not, they consistently reinforce and reward more 'feminine' behavior. Although it may be true that boys are more active than girls, but to say that they are treated differently is to be overly generalizing the situation. A teacher is supposed to be able to handle different types of children in the classroom, and cater to their activeness or passiveness in a class. For example, a teacher would try to involve a quiet and shy student as often as possible. The same goes for an active child; the teacher should be able to find activities for that child which would not only educate them, but also keep them busy. Thomas provides various arguments as to how boys and girls are different; therefore they are treated differently in a classroom. It cannot be argued that boys and girls are different, especially at such a young age, but to say that teachers specifically do treat boys in a rougher manner would be going too far. Thomas introduces the idea that society instills ideas of prejudice towards women in young boys, so that when they do go into a classroom governed by a female teacher, they are predisposed to be defiant and unruly. In my opinion, it is unfair to judge teachers based on the performance of their students on various tests. Thomas's article introduces the idea that as the number of female teachers is increasing, the performance of boys in school is declining. One much question whether it is in fact the teachers who cause this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Being a Teacher Essay Being a Teacher Is your life important to you? That is a statement anyone would replay, "yes" to. As surprising as it may seem, though, an important, successful life would not even be, without one essential element: teachers. Teachers, educators, instructors, mentors, or baby–sitters, whatever they may be classified as, they are necessary for many reasons. They are foundation or our American society, they are a source of security, and possibly the parents some never had. They are the foundation of our American society, meaning they educate everyone. Attending school, whether it is public, private, or home taught is mandatory in America at a certain age. Therefore, all the basics of life...show more content... Those are just a few illustrations of the obligations teachers have. These should not be considered obligations, but honors. Who would not want to be such an influential role model in others' lives? As I begin my teaching career and the years prior to it, many ideas and decisions will take place. Being that I plan to teach elementary school and deal with small children, I plan to be excessive on classroom accessories. Children have a limited attention span and a dull, plain room would not be appealing to them. The adjustment of leaving "mommy" will be hard enough for them anyway. I hope to make the environment comforting and welcoming for them. Bright colored bulletin boards and posters with needed information on them. I would like my students seated around the room in a circle. From experience, I've found that children feel more at ease and apt to speak up when seated this way. I believe the teacher should be authoritative, especially in the lower grades. The students need to know who is in charge and feel that there is someone of authority to look up to. Still yet, I want the children to feel a sense of authority, to make decisions and play a leadership role. Possibly, let one child be "leader of the day" each day; for example, lead the lines or pass out the papers. Motivation and discipline, I view as the primary topics of educating a classroom. Children have to be motivated, it is human

  • 12. My Teaching Experience Essay When I first come to Saint Cloud High School, I was uncertain of how I would fit into the world of education as a teacher, in fact, this was my first teaching practice. After completing a few observations, I changed my view and recognized my teaching abilities. I was able to learn many different things that will be helpful to me when I become a certified teacher someday. Although I could face many possible challenges in the classroom, I have many of the strengths it takes to be a good teacher. There were many times during this field training that gave me a broad idea of how the ordinary life of a teacher would go. Similarly, I got a profound sense of how the classroom environment is for most instructors. In general, I believe this was a pleasant experience for me, and I learned a lot in such a brief period. The educational unit I executed has an element of my instruction beliefs that students should connect and relate theme content to real life situations inside and outside the teaching space. Therefore, during my teaching experience, I feel compromise and responsible for meeting my students' needs and that is why I included many visuals aids and plenty of flexible activities. Hence, this unit involved a mixture of student and teacher–centered strategies such as direct instruction, drill and practice of the unit vocabulary, lectures, dialogues, question and answer sessions, discussions with exchanges of opinions and perspectives, discovery learning events and presentations Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve ...show more content... It has not been easy but challenging and interesting. Unfortunately in this present job I have no colleagues, institution authorities or supervisors, which means anything I do in the classroom hardly ever provides me any feedback of what I am doing. Except of course for the eventual commentaries I receive from my students and the annual performance evaluation. Therefore I had this urgent necessity of obtaining some refreshment and reviewing of what I am doing in my classroom. I need to make a stop to reflect about how effective my teaching is. If the things I am doing are adequate and suitable to take my pupils to achieve their goal to communicate in the target language. Teaching in this context was at the beginning of the journey a frightening and stressing episode, first of all because I did not know anything about mining, geology, finance and accounting, just to mention some and not to make myself look like a complete ignorant. Secondly the atmosphere in a corporate has nothing to do with the informal ambience in an elementary school and thirdly but not least important, the students expectations and perceptions are not the same. Thus, I had to remake myself. Everything started when I was invited to work with them; I did the typical searching about the company and the leaders, anyone would do for that first good desirable impression one wants to give in the job interview. That was my first contact with the mining Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Each One Teach One Summary The purpose for recommending individual exercises, is to couple them with the African American proverb "Each One Teach One." This concept was created in the U.S. when an enslaved person was taught to read or write, which was a privilege denied to many if not almost all, that their duty was to teach someone else. This term is still used within the African Americanculture and is a great way to emphasize the value in community cultural wealth. Moreover, this will allow individuals to enhance their knowledge, understanding, and value of lived experience within the cultures of People of Color so that "Each One CAN Teach One!" There are ten exercises that individuals can do that will educate them with on the value of other cultures and have a better understanding of their role in racial microaggression situations: (1) learn about your unconscious bias, (2) lean about microaggressions, (3) read texts written by People of Color, (4) take ownership when you have made a mistake, (5) work continuously on cultural proficiency, (6) obtain literature through ethnic agencies on racial /cultural information, (7) attend conferences, workshops...show more content... The first, is learning about your unconscious bias. This requires that the individual is "honest with themselves," which means they are willing to acknowledge their bias and work towards addressing these areas of concern. One method to uncover these bias is by taking the Implicit Association Test (IAT) offered online by Harvard University to measure the attitudes and beliefs that people unwilling or unable to report (Project Implicit & Harvard University, 2011). The next exercise is learning about microaggressions. This can be accomplished by utilizing the references in this essay, such as McCoy & Rodricks (2015), Sue (2007) and Yosso (2005) to gain further knowledge about the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Precious Movie Essay In the begging of the movie, Precious, the main character Precious Jones was on Level 1 according to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. I know this because she only had her basic necessities such as food, water, sleep, and shelter. At home she wasn't being shown love nor affection instead she was being sexually, physically, and mentally abused. Additionally, she was receiving abominable treatment from hermother, she mentally abused her by calling her stupid, fat, ugly, dummy, etc. Another reason I know this is because Precious wasn't safe and didn't feel safe in her home, her mother threw things at her, hit her with things like pots and pans, and threatened her diurnally. The final reason I know that Precious was at Level 1 according to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is because she wasn't being pushed or trying to achieve anything in life. The way Precious got from her lowest level to her highest level of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is when she enrolled at Each One Teach One. When Precious became astudent at Each One Teach One she became inspired and motivated because she seen all the possibilities she had. There she received help from her teacher, Ms. Rain. • 16. Reflection On Micro Teaching This essay will analyse and highlight on the fifteen–minute micro teaching reflection that is vital for the self–evaluation and professional development of my teaching practice. It will further identify my strengths and weaknesses through my peer assessment and reflect on the teaching and learning theories, methods and strategies that are linked and practiced in my micro–teach. According to the teachers' standards (DfE, 2012) "teachers make the education of their learners their first concern, keep their knowledge up to date and are self–critical." Therefore, this reflection practice will guide me towards the improvement on my lesson planning strategies and delivery. In addition, it will also make an enormous difference in my teaching and learning practice which is vital for teacher training. One of the significant part of this course is micro teaching session, in this session we are required to deliver fifteen–minute planned lesson containing learning outcome. Furthermore, this session was recorded and observed by the peers to evaluate. Due to my interest in ESOL I decided to deliver my session on "Boogle Puzzle" to embed a simple literacy/numeracy activity aims to target ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) learners. In this task, pupils are given activity to make seven – ten words in the English language from the word grid to improve word recognition and spellings. Based on reflection of my micro–teaching I provided learners with the basic instructions on "Boggle puzzle" and opted for potential instruction strategy. I used present, practice and produce strategy (English language resource, 2017) to allow pupils to practice and learn new vocabulary in co–operative way. Similarly, I used co–operative learning method to encourage pupils to learn from each other and gain interpersonal skills. According to Johnson and Johnson (1995) co–operative learning method have proven effective in increasing motivation, self–esteem and problem solving. Thus, to enhance inter dependency, the class was divided into two main groups of fours and were further divided into pairs, to finish their task. According to Mercer (1985) effective communication is as cognitive and social development are intertwined, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Differentiated Instruction Essay In today's educational environment, all students expect to receive the same level of instruction from schools and all students must meet the same set of standards. Expectations for students with learning disabilities are the same as students without any learning difficulties. It is now unacceptable for schools or teachers to expect less from one segment of students because they have physical disabilities, learning disabilities, discipline problems, or come from poor backgrounds. Standardize testing has resulted in making every student count as much as their peers and the most positive impact has been seen with the lowest ability students. Schools have developed new approaches to reach these previously underserved students while...show more content... Effective differentiated instruction reflects where the students currently are in their educational stage and not where a teacher wishes them to be. This step is important; placing students either too high or too low in the instruction can be adverse to the teacher's goal of helping all students. Developing lesson strategies for students that are too demanding may have a negative effect on performance and reinforce negative emotions concerning learning. Likewise, developing lesson strategies that do not challenge students to perform at their best can also have a negative effect. Some students that are not engaged by a teacher's instruction are left adrift waiting for new or more stimulating material. Engaging students in the learning strategy is the key ingredient in producing active learners. When teachers develop differentiated instruction strategies for students they provide several different avenues for the student to achieve the same learning goal regardless of which path they choose. Student choice in which avenue they ultimately select creates a sense of ownership with the students and actively engages them in the lesson. The different avenues all lead to the same learning goal just as many roads might lead to one destination. Differentiated thinking empowers teachers to be responsive rather than reactive to the unique and individual personalities, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. Compare And Contrast Traditional Teaching Styles No teachers are similar as well as no students learn in the same way. Every teacher has their own unique teaching style which is based on their educational philosophy, their classroom's demographic, what subject area they teach, and the school's mission statement. Up until now, teachers are looking for a system that will engage students in the educational process and will develop the students' critical thinking skills. Moreover, teachers want the classroom to be in order and in control, but they also want their students to appreciate the learning procedure. These teaching styles can be divided into two approaches – the teacher–centered and learner–centered. Traditional teaching styles use teacher–centered approach. It includes a teacher that stands at the front and tells students step by step instructions. The teacher decides what is learned, when it is learned, how it is learned, and how learning is evaluated. In a nutshell, the teacher is an information giver and evaluator. The students are just there to learn through lessons and direct instructions. Their attention is mainly focused on passing tests, assessments, and evaluations. Through the years, many successful people have came from the traditional setting. The earliest recorded occurrence of education proved that people learned in a...show more content... • 20. Argumentative Essay On The Movie Precious Precious, directed by Lee Daniels is based on the novel, Push by Sapphire. By following Claireece Precious Jones's life story, the viewers are compelled to understand how certain situations can force people to make poor decisions. The movie demonstrates how the education system, family, and the welfare system can be a trap for individuals in poverty. It is common in many schools to advertise that education is the way out of poverty. However, as shown in Precious, publicschool in poor neighborhoods are not conducive to learning. The public–school system was unable to help Precious when she was pregnant, instead, she was expelled from school. At an alternative school, Each One, Teach One, Precious met Blu Rain, her new teacher. The symbolism in Ms. Rain name represents a new, fresh start for Precious. While the public–school system fails to motivate Precious, at Each One, Teach One, Precious learn how to read and to speak out in class. For most people, family provides a support system in troubling time. In some cases, family can trap children into an unhealthy lifestyle and a negative mindset. Ironically, Sapphire uses the name Mary to represent Precious's mother. The name Mary alludes to the Mother of Jesus, which the viewers expect to be a caring. However, Mary is a loving mother only in Precious's imagination. Mary frequently puts down Precious's intelligence and discourage her from pursuing her education. By doing this, Mary would protect her welfare lifestyle and make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
