Expressing Ideas in Paragraphs
Expressing Ideas in Paragraphs: A paragraph can be described as a group of sentences containing a single idea, topic or single point that is used as
the building block of a paper or essay. In most cases, students tend to define paragraphs in terms of length where a paragraph can be half a page long
or a group of at least five sentences. However, a paragraph is developed through the rationality and unity of ideas across sentences as length and
appearance don't verify whether a section of an essay is a paragraph. This is largely because certain writing styles, especially the journalistic style can
allow a paragraph to be just a single sentence. Therefore, a paragraph can be regarded as a group or unit of sentences that support a similar idea or
concept.
How Paragraphs Fit Into An Essay: The determination of the content and topic of an essay is a necessary measure that precedes the determination of
the composition of a specific paragraph. This is an important step because the information in every paragraph will be related to the idea or topic being
discussed in the essay. Paragraphs can be organized in various ways depending on the controlling idea including narration, description, process,
classification, and illustration.
The topic of the essay can also be regarded as the working thesis that functions like the seed for the development of the paper. The working thesis is
the foundation with which all ideas expressed in the paragraphs will grow and support the content of

Exploring College Writing
Writing is something the vast majority of college students are familiar with. Because they do a lot of it. College professors use writing assignments to
help them determine whether or not their students understand the course curriculum because you can't write well if you don't understand the topic in
which you are writing about.so with that said, if you bemoan the very thought of having to complete more than a few writing assignments, college
could be very stressful for you. That is unless you decide to become a better writer. It doesn't stop at college either, most employers consider it an
essential job skill one of which could hold you back in your career if you're terrible at it. think about it, how do most businesses communicate? Through

Exploring The New World Essay
In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the movements to explore the new world increased rapidly. Among them was the arrival of the early
Europeans on Americas. Only in a few decades this arrival has changed the land and the people of the Americas both on the physical the non–physical
outcomes.
On the physical outcomes, within a few decades after the arrival of European Ships on October 12, 1492, successive waves of explorers and colonists
slaughtered, raped, and exploited indigenous populations who were poorly equipped to resist the bearded, white strangers invading their bays, inlets,
and high plateaus. As mentioning in "The Second Voyage: The Cannibals" of Columbus: "Having her in my room and she being naked as is their
custom, I...show more content...
From the conflict in non–physical it leads to the conflict in physical aspect. To the Native Americans, land is something that they have to respect. On
the contrast, the European considered land as a tool to enrich them. As a result, tribes lost massive amounts of land to the U. S. Government, for which
they were often neither paid nor compensated. "By 1820, they had lost claim to over half of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Most Native Americans and
some whites thought that the government's relations with Native Americans were marked by dishonesty, corruption, and deception. By 1838, almost
all native villages in Michigan had been abandoned."
As the result of the invader of European on the physical aspect, the relationship between the natives and the invaders was clear: conquest, enslavement,
the expropriation of all the wealth and resources of the land. However the Native Americans were also affected on the non–physical aspect. As the
traditional base of existence changed due to the Colonists' victory, the local Native communities had to adapt certain aspects of their culture in order to
survive.
Rich source of misunderstanding between Indian and White Anglo–Saxon cultural analysis is the different attitude of most Native Americans to such
concepts as Nature, the environment, and social values.
Wolves held a special place in almost allNative American tribes. They were

Persuasive Essay About Space Exploration
Space Exploration
For centuries the human race has survived to venture past our planet end in to the vast and copious field of stars. Through years of research and
discovery scientists have been able to instruct rockets and take us beyond our homeland. Physics and science apply to almost every aspect of space
exploration. A few examples of this arerocket propulsion, the forces on a rocket, and the human body in space. Some people believe space
exploration is a bad idea because it costs a lot of money that could go to other government–funded programs, there are many unforeseen risks from
failures launch or radiation from the Sun, and the discovery of new civilizations could lead to a repeat of history where we take advantage of
civilization and ravage them. I believe that space exploration is a good idea because It can help us detect and divert dangerous asteroids, help us
discover new habitable planets, and it corresponds with the human nature to explore discover and learn.
To explore space you must first find a way to get there. Space programs such as NASA have used and still use various forms of rockets to get to space.
These rockets consists of solid propellant rocket, liquid bibropellantpellant chemical rockets, liquid monopropellant rockets, thermonuclear plasma
rockets, and photon rockets. Despite being vastly different they all share one characteristic... They have the ability to produce thrust (NASA). Thrust
enables the rocket or projectile to ascend upward against the force of gravity. A rocket faces many forces as it goes up to space and leaves our
atmosphere. The rocket is met with weight, thrust, lift, and drag. Considering these forces are vectors they have a direction and magnitude (Benson).
Rockets are outfitted with a group of astronauts within them and an extensive communication team on the ground. The astronauts bodies are affected
by space once they leave the atmosphere of Earth. One of the issues that astronauts face is the excess amount of harmful radiation in space. They have
to endure 10 times more radiation in space than on Earth. Radiation can cause cancer in humans and is very dangerous in large doses. Another issue
they face is the mental deterioration that face from isolation in

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to advance their knowledge. Not only does English
provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English
is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young
age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to
further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any
other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very
challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in
my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while
hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my
thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this
became a problem. I learned

The Benefits of Space Exploration Essay
Mankind has always been fascinated with exploring the unknown. From sailing to distant lands to someday setting foot on other planets, the spirit of
exploration is the same. Bur now with the current economic situation and the high cost of sending people to space, NASA is being looked at as a way
to free up some much needed funds. Although, there is many problems here on planet Earth that need addressing, the benefits of space exploration far
out weight the disadvantages. Space exploration has given us more advanced technology, advances in the medical field, and a boost to the economy and
these facts cannot be disputed.
Since we first sent rockets into Earths orbit, we have been pushing the technological boundaries in order to reach new...show more content...
There is also a huge risk of the spread of sickness because astronauts live in such close quarters. "During space travel, exposure to microgravity,
radiation, and stress alter human immunoregulatory responses, which can in turn impact an astronaut's ability to prevent acquisition of infectious
agents or reactivation of latent infection. In addition, microgravity affects virulence, growth kinetics, and biofilm formation of potential microbial
pathogens." (Mermel, 2013) This just shows some of the possible risks astronauts may encounter during a prolonged space flight such as one to the
moon or another planet. Because of all these risks NASA has created an extensive screening process and materials to help counter the spread of
disease and infection in a space craft. These advances not only help astronauts but they also have applications for us on earth. We have already seen
many of these "spin off" technologies like the implantable pacemaker, Lasik eye surgery and the MRI and CAT scan.
Space exploration has and will continue to provide a large boost to the economy. "Missions such as the launch and operation of communications and
remote sensing satellites, scientific satellites and, of course, military surveillance satellites, have been the stock–in–trade of the commercial sector for
decades, and represent an industry worth S300–billion annually." (Watson, 2013) Not only is there a lot of money in the business of sending

English Is My Second Language
English, is my second language, is a big challenge for me because I didn't know how to say any English when I came to U.S. The only sentence I
knew which is how are you doing. People usually are very powerful when they understand English because a lot of professional documents are written
by English. In this quarter, I have learned how to write an essay in efficiently and professionally, and I have become more advanced than previous. By
moving to next level this is ESL 5, I will keep my English learning attitude and patient to develop and practicing my writing skill. In ESL 273 class, I
learned about write a powerful conclusion paragraphs and a smooth organizing skill, and I also noticed I need to continue improving to make a
strong topic sentences, and then explain the topic clearly. For those reasons, I should keep to the next level of education on my second language,
and the level is ESL 5. I believe I have the eligibility for ESL 5 because of my strength in writing a conclusion paragraphs. The conclusion
paragraphs are very important parts to restates the main idea of my essay, and it also can help reader to recall the writer's main idea for whole
essay. This is a good skill for me to move on to ESL 5. When I write a conclusion paragraphs, I always read my essay again to make sure my ideas is
clear. For example, in "The benefits of internet filter", I wrote that the internet filter has multiple advantages which help the libraries manage the public
computer usage, and

Critical Analysis
Journal #1
Select one of the readings mentioned in the syllabus for the Critical Analysis essay. What is one point the author works to prove in the essay you are
analyzing? What does he say to prove his point? Does he use facts, evidence, statistics, graphs, deductive or inductive logic, emotion, satire? (See
Chap. 3 of Current Issues or Critical Thinking.) Now make a critical statement: If the author uses facts, does he or she use facts in such a way that he
or she convinces his or her audience the author is right? If statistics are used, are they relevant statistics; do they help show the validity of the author's
argument? If deductive logic is used, show that logic and then explain how it does or does not clarify the writer's argument....show more content...

Reflection On My Reading Skills
Reflection Before taking this class I thought that my reading skills were exceptional, but I was undeniably wrong about that. Now, after taking
this class I can say that my reading skills have greatly improved. I now know how to analyze works of art and find new meanings behind the words
that I read. Now, with the knowledge on how to use criticism to my advantage, all types of literature will become wide open to me in a sense that I
will be able to understand literature in greater detail. I would certainly say that I learned more in this English class than any other English class I
have taken so far, even though it was online. I even improved on my grammar throughout the course of these past six weeks. I learned how to write
more comprehensive paragraphs and how to write essays that stay on topic as well. Before taking this class I had not read too many poems so I was
not too familiar with quoting or citing them. Now, I easily know how to quote a line or stanza without having to look up what to do every time. I
would also say that I am far more appreciative of literature, more than ever poetry. Before this class I did not take poetry to seriously as I thought it
was silly and for the most part nonsense that was being spat off by crazy writers. Unbeknownst to me I found out quickly just how deep and
emotional some poetry can be. I found out awfully fast that poetry is more than just dilly dally writings and the nonsense that I believed it was. Of
course, being as old as I

Persuasive Essay On Ocean Exploration
Introduction Astonishingly, Did you know that we have better maps of the moon than we do of the ocean? (#7) It's true! Scientists are working to
make drones to explore the deep sea. Ocean Exploration is a developing science that incorporates the use of marine biology and drone technology.
Ocean Exploration technology will be an overall benefit to society because 1. exploring the ocean is easier than before and 2. ocean exploration can
help with monitoring the deep sea. First Reason Paragraph First of all, ocean exploration technology has advanced much more than before in the past
decade. In the past, people had to bring everything needed for scuba diving which included hundreds of pounds of gear and photographing technology.
Now, all...show more content...
(#5) This is a benefit to society because it is so light whereas scuba diving equipment is hundreds of pounds. Second Reason Paragraph For one
thing, ocean exploration technology benefits us with knowing what is happening. The drone can give us reports on weather and populations of
ocean creatures. Because of the new technology in the drone, it can stay underwater for weeks at a time. This gives us more in depth reports and
data. One example of this is, the coral reefs. With the world ignoring the problems, the reefs are dying. (#2) With the drone we can get this data. It
can also look at fish population. According to a journalist, David Hambling, from Popular Mechanics, in his article 'What Drones Did For The Sky,
Robot Subs Are About To Do For The Sea' He stated that, "..low
–cost ROVs should give the industry greatly improved capability for monitoring beds
of shellfish, fish populations, anchors and underwater infrastructure." (Hambling, 2016) Because the drones can stay underwater for weeks at a time,
we have more information on what's going on. (#5) This is a benefit to society because a certain kind of fish can be dying as you are reading and we
wouldn't know. With the new technology we would, seeing it brings up data daily on how everything is going under the surface. Another example of
this is, weather. With the drone you can tell whether a hurricane or tsunami would be coming. It's very helpful. For

For me, learning a language is a complicated process. It is different from learning other subjects. It involves a lot of practices and follow up. When I
talk about my personal experience, I would say that I have a rich experience in learning English as a second language. English was taught to me for
ten years starting from grade seven till graduation from university. After graduation, I felt that I should improve my language skills. Therefore, I did a
lot of efforts personally to increase my fluency. Until now I still learn the language. Indeed, learning a language takes a lifetime.
I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that
my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method. They used to
write bilingual lists of words on board, then we, as students, were asked to copy these lists and memorize them by heart. All teaching concentrated on
reading and writing skills, but there were no activities concentrating on speaking or listening. In addition, grammar rules were taught in that stage of
learning the language as mathematics equations, and we were asked to memorize the rules as we...show more content...

English language entails high sense of using the appropriate word for describing or narrating something. To my mind, I have not reached this point

Conclusion On Space Exploration
ABSTRACT Space travel has become a growing event in the world and has assisted in advancing our knowledge as well as providing information
about the solar system. As the human race continues to grow, the need for resources continues to grow as well and finding new places to inhabit as
well as being able to find new resources is becoming more important. The issue that needs to be addressed currently is the air quality onboard the
space habitats, stations and vehicles. There have been advancements in that section, but new challenges arise that have negative impacts on the crew.
Despite these issues, however, there is not an immediate need to stop space exploration as long as these issues are being worked on.
INTRODUCTION Space travel has become an event of growing importance since the first venture in the late 1950s. Humans are driven to explore
the unknown, discover new worlds, and push the boundaries of scientific and technical limits [1]. Space exploration can feed the human knowledge
base as well as open the doors for new resources that can potentially be gathered from other worlds. However, this poses a challenge for the people
who man the space vehicles during an expedition. Though the technology has improved significantly towards the removal of most harmful gases, there
are still issues with air quality on board these celestial habitats such as trace contaminants from equipment and microorganisms. DISCUSSION Air
quality on earth is controlled by the earth's

The Writing Process Essay
The Writing Process
Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one person to another. You come across questions like,
'What exactly is the writing process?'; and 'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across the
answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do
how they please.
The writing process is something that you figure out yourself as you go through school. I personally think that is why they make us take English for so
many years. Through the years, I found that some teachers forced you to write certain ways. I believe that...show more content...
I don't agree with him. The only way for someone to improve his or her writing is if a peer reads over it and explains what could be done to improve it.
In The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscript, Murray says, 'Writers must learn to be their own worst enemy'; (Murray 87). He is trying to
say that when it comes to editing, you must be able to accept criticism from others and be suspicious of it. Just because they say that you should
rearrange that paragraph doesn't necessarily mean you have to. The way you wrote the paragraph could be in your own voice.
Your papers should be filled with your voice. Voice is what makes your writing personal. But your voice could be different depending on what you
write about. I would put a lot more of my feelings in a paper about food, than a paper about how the polar ice caps are melting.
Revising and rewriting a paper is a common step in the writing process. Personally, I think your paper would be crap if you skipped these steps but
I'm sure someone has done it before. Every writer has revised and rewritten a paper. Do you think that Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in one
shot? I don't think so.
In conclusion, writing is up to the writer. If the writer decides to follow the formal writing process, then that's their choice. Nothing should be forced
when it comes to writing. Then the writer does not put out their best work possible. Thank you for reading my

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences,
forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no
errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in

as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My
goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my
whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs,
essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will
have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and
sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and
collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift

writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There
are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration,
process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to
me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I
would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing
was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts
were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms

My Writing Experience
Reading and writing has always created a sense of understanding for me in my art. Reading in the literal sense is a way that we understand text or
symbols in our minds which in turn create meaning. Writing also in a literal sense is our way of communicating our knowledge and emotions to others
through symbols in text. The human experience for all people includes communication and through reading and writing this experience is created.
From the beginning of this course, my only prior experience with reading and writing were high school level course over literature and reading. I had
an average level of rhetoric, reading, writing and language overall however, understanding the significance of these subjects was never put forth in such
a way until I took this course. I discovered through this course that reading is a combination of not only our "visual information" but also our

extremely difficult for myself. Fluidity was a challenge throughout my time in this course, but is was also something that created a better voice in my
writing. The understanding of reading and writing in this course was extremely meaningful for me and made a huge impact on my writing overall.
Writing motivates me and inspires me in my own work to create stories and share with others what I feel is memorable and should be shared. Although
it may never be something perfect, writing is something I wish to continue improving on and creating in order to share with

  • 3. Expressing Ideas in Paragraphs Expressing Ideas in Paragraphs: A paragraph can be described as a group of sentences containing a single idea, topic or single point that is used as the building block of a paper or essay. In most cases, students tend to define paragraphs in terms of length where a paragraph can be half a page long or a group of at least five sentences. However, a paragraph is developed through the rationality and unity of ideas across sentences as length and appearance don't verify whether a section of an essay is a paragraph. This is largely because certain writing styles, especially the journalistic style can allow a paragraph to be just a single sentence. Therefore, a paragraph can be regarded as a group or unit of sentences that support a similar idea or concept. How Paragraphs Fit Into An Essay: The determination of the content and topic of an essay is a necessary measure that precedes the determination of the composition of a specific paragraph. This is an important step because the information in every paragraph will be related to the idea or topic being discussed in the essay. Paragraphs can be organized in various ways depending on the controlling idea including narration, description, process, classification, and illustration. The topic of the essay can also be regarded as the working thesis that functions like the seed for the development of the paper. The working thesis is the foundation with which all ideas expressed in the paragraphs will grow and support the content of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 5. Exploring The New World Essay In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the movements to explore the new world increased rapidly. Among them was the arrival of the early Europeans on Americas. Only in a few decades this arrival has changed the land and the people of the Americas both on the physical the non–physical outcomes. On the physical outcomes, within a few decades after the arrival of European Ships on October 12, 1492, successive waves of explorers and colonists slaughtered, raped, and exploited indigenous populations who were poorly equipped to resist the bearded, white strangers invading their bays, inlets, and high plateaus. As mentioning in "The Second Voyage: The Cannibals" of Columbus: "Having her in my room and she being naked as is their custom, I...show more content... From the conflict in non–physical it leads to the conflict in physical aspect. To the Native Americans, land is something that they have to respect. On the contrast, the European considered land as a tool to enrich them. As a result, tribes lost massive amounts of land to the U. S. Government, for which they were often neither paid nor compensated. "By 1820, they had lost claim to over half of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Most Native Americans and some whites thought that the government's relations with Native Americans were marked by dishonesty, corruption, and deception. By 1838, almost all native villages in Michigan had been abandoned." As the result of the invader of European on the physical aspect, the relationship between the natives and the invaders was clear: conquest, enslavement, the expropriation of all the wealth and resources of the land. However the Native Americans were also affected on the non–physical aspect. As the traditional base of existence changed due to the Colonists' victory, the local Native communities had to adapt certain aspects of their culture in order to survive. Rich source of misunderstanding between Indian and White Anglo–Saxon cultural analysis is the different attitude of most Native Americans to such concepts as Nature, the environment, and social values. • 7. Persuasive Essay About Space Exploration Space Exploration For centuries the human race has survived to venture past our planet end in to the vast and copious field of stars. Through years of research and discovery scientists have been able to instruct rockets and take us beyond our homeland. Physics and science apply to almost every aspect of space exploration. A few examples of this arerocket propulsion, the forces on a rocket, and the human body in space. Some people believe space exploration is a bad idea because it costs a lot of money that could go to other government–funded programs, there are many unforeseen risks from failures launch or radiation from the Sun, and the discovery of new civilizations could lead to a repeat of history where we take advantage of civilization and ravage them. I believe that space exploration is a good idea because It can help us detect and divert dangerous asteroids, help us discover new habitable planets, and it corresponds with the human nature to explore discover and learn. To explore space you must first find a way to get there. Space programs such as NASA have used and still use various forms of rockets to get to space. These rockets consists of solid propellant rocket, liquid bibropellantpellant chemical rockets, liquid monopropellant rockets, thermonuclear plasma rockets, and photon rockets. Despite being vastly different they all share one characteristic... They have the ability to produce thrust (NASA). Thrust enables the rocket or projectile to ascend upward against the force of gravity. A rocket faces many forces as it goes up to space and leaves our atmosphere. The rocket is met with weight, thrust, lift, and drag. Considering these forces are vectors they have a direction and magnitude (Benson). Rockets are outfitted with a group of astronauts within them and an extensive communication team on the ground. The astronauts bodies are affected by space once they leave the atmosphere of Earth. One of the issues that astronauts face is the excess amount of harmful radiation in space. They have to endure 10 times more radiation in space than on Earth. Radiation can cause cancer in humans and is very dangerous in large doses. Another issue they face is the mental deterioration that face from isolation in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Experience In English Writing English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. The Benefits of Space Exploration Essay Mankind has always been fascinated with exploring the unknown. From sailing to distant lands to someday setting foot on other planets, the spirit of exploration is the same. Bur now with the current economic situation and the high cost of sending people to space, NASA is being looked at as a way to free up some much needed funds. Although, there is many problems here on planet Earth that need addressing, the benefits of space exploration far out weight the disadvantages. Space exploration has given us more advanced technology, advances in the medical field, and a boost to the economy and these facts cannot be disputed. Since we first sent rockets into Earths orbit, we have been pushing the technological boundaries in order to reach new...show more content... There is also a huge risk of the spread of sickness because astronauts live in such close quarters. "During space travel, exposure to microgravity, radiation, and stress alter human immunoregulatory responses, which can in turn impact an astronaut's ability to prevent acquisition of infectious agents or reactivation of latent infection. In addition, microgravity affects virulence, growth kinetics, and biofilm formation of potential microbial pathogens." (Mermel, 2013) This just shows some of the possible risks astronauts may encounter during a prolonged space flight such as one to the moon or another planet. Because of all these risks NASA has created an extensive screening process and materials to help counter the spread of disease and infection in a space craft. These advances not only help astronauts but they also have applications for us on earth. We have already seen many of these "spin off" technologies like the implantable pacemaker, Lasik eye surgery and the MRI and CAT scan. Space exploration has and will continue to provide a large boost to the economy. "Missions such as the launch and operation of communications and remote sensing satellites, scientific satellites and, of course, military surveillance satellites, have been the stock–in–trade of the commercial sector for decades, and represent an industry worth S300–billion annually." • 10. English Is My Second Language English, is my second language, is a big challenge for me because I didn't know how to say any English when I came to U.S. The only sentence I knew which is how are you doing. People usually are very powerful when they understand English because a lot of professional documents are written by English. In this quarter, I have learned how to write an essay in efficiently and professionally, and I have become more advanced than previous. By moving to next level this is ESL 5, I will keep my English learning attitude and patient to develop and practicing my writing skill. In ESL 273 class, I learned about write a powerful conclusion paragraphs and a smooth organizing skill, and I also noticed I need to continue improving to make a strong topic sentences, and then explain the topic clearly. For those reasons, I should keep to the next level of education on my second language, and the level is ESL 5. I believe I have the eligibility for ESL 5 because of my strength in writing a conclusion paragraphs. The conclusion paragraphs are very important parts to restates the main idea of my essay, and it also can help reader to recall the writer's main idea for whole essay. This is a good skill for me to move on to ESL 5. When I write a conclusion paragraphs, I always read my essay again to make sure my ideas is clear. For example, in "The benefits of internet filter", I wrote that the internet filter has multiple advantages which help the libraries manage the public computer usage, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Reflection On My Reading Skills Reflection Before taking this class I thought that my reading skills were exceptional, but I was undeniably wrong about that. Now, after taking this class I can say that my reading skills have greatly improved. I now know how to analyze works of art and find new meanings behind the words that I read. Now, with the knowledge on how to use criticism to my advantage, all types of literature will become wide open to me in a sense that I will be able to understand literature in greater detail. I would certainly say that I learned more in this English class than any other English class I have taken so far, even though it was online. I even improved on my grammar throughout the course of these past six weeks. I learned how to write more comprehensive paragraphs and how to write essays that stay on topic as well. Before taking this class I had not read too many poems so I was not too familiar with quoting or citing them. Now, I easily know how to quote a line or stanza without having to look up what to do every time. I would also say that I am far more appreciative of literature, more than ever poetry. Before this class I did not take poetry to seriously as I thought it was silly and for the most part nonsense that was being spat off by crazy writers. Unbeknownst to me I found out quickly just how deep and emotional some poetry can be. I found out awfully fast that poetry is more than just dilly dally writings and the nonsense that I believed it was. Of course, being as old as I Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Scientists are working to make drones to explore the deep sea. Ocean Exploration is a developing science that incorporates the use of marine biology and drone technology. Ocean Exploration technology will be an overall benefit to society because 1. exploring the ocean is easier than before and 2. ocean exploration can help with monitoring the deep sea. First Reason Paragraph First of all, ocean exploration technology has advanced much more than before in the past decade. In the past, people had to bring everything needed for scuba diving which included hundreds of pounds of gear and photographing technology. Now, all...show more content... (#5) This is a benefit to society because it is so light whereas scuba diving equipment is hundreds of pounds. Second Reason Paragraph For one thing, ocean exploration technology benefits us with knowing what is happening. The drone can give us reports on weather and populations of ocean creatures. Because of the new technology in the drone, it can stay underwater for weeks at a time. This gives us more in depth reports and data. One example of this is, the coral reefs. With the world ignoring the problems, the reefs are dying. (#2) With the drone we can get this data. It can also look at fish population. According to a journalist, David Hambling, from Popular Mechanics, in his article 'What Drones Did For The Sky, Robot Subs Are About To Do For The Sea' He stated that, "..low –cost ROVs should give the industry greatly improved capability for monitoring beds of shellfish, fish populations, anchors and underwater infrastructure." (Hambling, 2016) Because the drones can stay underwater for weeks at a time, we have more information on what's going on. (#5) This is a benefit to society because a certain kind of fish can be dying as you are reading and we wouldn't know. With the new technology we would, seeing it brings up data daily on how everything is going under the surface. Another example of this is, weather. With the drone you can tell whether a hurricane or tsunami would be coming. It's very helpful. For Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In paragraph 7, sentence 2 it states "To challenge laws mandating segregated interstate transportation, busloads of integrated blacks and white students rode through the South." What this quote shows is that whites are getting along with blacks. When I talk about my personal experience, I would say that I have a rich experience in learning English as a second language. English was taught to me for ten years starting from grade seven till graduation from university. After graduation, I felt that I should improve my language skills. Therefore, I did a lot of efforts personally to increase my fluency. Until now I still learn the language. Indeed, learning a language takes a lifetime. I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method. They used to write bilingual lists of words on board, then we, as students, were asked to copy these lists and memorize them by heart. All teaching concentrated on reading and writing skills, but there were no activities concentrating on speaking or listening. In addition, grammar rules were taught in that stage of learning the language as mathematics equations, and we were asked to memorize the rules as we...show more content... Idioms have many connotations and denotations in the English language. Sometimes I use an idiom and I mean something, but the connotations of the idiom means something else. Another gap of my knowledge of the language is the appropriateness of using certain vocabulary. • 17. Conclusion On Space Exploration ABSTRACT Space travel has become a growing event in the world and has assisted in advancing our knowledge as well as providing information about the solar system. As the human race continues to grow, the need for resources continues to grow as well and finding new places to inhabit as well as being able to find new resources is becoming more important. The issue that needs to be addressed currently is the air quality onboard the space habitats, stations and vehicles. Humans are driven to explore the unknown, discover new worlds, and push the boundaries of scientific and technical limits [1]. Space exploration can feed the human knowledge base as well as open the doors for new resources that can potentially be gathered from other worlds. However, this poses a challenge for the people who man the space vehicles during an expedition. Though the technology has improved significantly towards the removal of most harmful gases, there are still issues with air quality on board these celestial habitats such as trace contaminants from equipment and microorganisms. • 18. The Writing Process Essay The Writing Process Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one person to another. You come across questions like, 'What exactly is the writing process?'; and 'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across the answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do how they please. The writing process is something that you figure out yourself as you go through school. I personally think that is why they make us take English for so many years. He is trying to say that when it comes to editing, you must be able to accept criticism from others and be suspicious of it. Just because they say that you should rearrange that paragraph doesn't necessarily mean you have to. The way you wrote the paragraph could be in your own voice. Your papers should be filled with your voice. Voice is what makes your writing personal. But your voice could be different depending on what you write about. I would put a lot more of my feelings in a paper about food, than a paper about how the polar ice caps are melting. Revising and rewriting a paper is a common step in the writing process. Personally, I think your paper would be crap if you skipped these steps but I'm sure someone has done it before. Every writer has revised and rewritten a paper. Do you think that Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in one shot? I don't think so. In conclusion, writing is up to the writer. If the writer decides to follow the formal writing process, then that's their choice. Nothing should be forced when it comes to writing. Then the writer does not put out their best work possible. • 19. Essay on Writing Experience My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in kindergarten. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards. When it came to the essays writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. Reading in the literal sense is a way that we understand text or symbols in our minds which in turn create meaning.
