Character Analysis Of Boo Radley
The Mystery Named Boo RadleyPermanently bloody hands. Yellow, rotten teeth. A long, jagged scar running across his face. It is easy to see why the
Finch children and Dill Harris would be fearful of this obscure man named Arthur 'Boo' Radley, but the rumors that have been spread shouldn't warrant
their fear of Boo. This information is almost the extent of what the kids know about the puzzling, secretive man known as Boo, but the kids are
determined to find out more about this mystery man in To Kill A Mockingbird. Boo has had quite a few horrifying rumors spread about him through
the town of Maycomb, but a rumor alone is not enough to build a strong fear of someone without knowing them personally. One of the worst stories
that has been told was from Miss Stephanie to Jem. She said she knew everything about Boo, and this is what he heard when she told him: '[...] Boo
was sitting in the livingroom cutting some items from The Maycomb Tribune to paste in his scrapbook. His father entered the room. As Mr. Radley
passed by, Boo drove the scissors into his parent's leg, pulled them out, wiped them on his pants, and resumed his activities.' (Lee 11) This rumor is
definitely disturbing, but you cannot take everything you hear for granted. As the story was told from person to person, I'm certain some of the details
of the events that happened got twisted around, lost or misunderstood. As pointed out in other parts of the text, Boo had a troubling past but since he

Boo Radley Heroism
Harper Lee's novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is considered a classic in modern American literature. In the novel, Lee used mockingbirds as a symbol
for innocent people "killed" by evil things. Although cruel rumors, in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, portrayed Boo Radley as a monster, he
was a mockingbird because all he did was care and do kind things for the children. Instead of causing harm, like most Maycomb townspeople believed
he did, he left the children gifts in the tree, draped a blanket over a cold Scout, and most importantly, saved the children from Bob Ewell.
Arthur "Boo" Radley was a selfless individual who cared for the happiness of others. Like a mockingbird, Boo Radley didn't do anything but "sing" for
the children. Much to...show more content...
During Miss Maudie's unfortunate house fire, in chapter eight of the novel, Scout and Jem had to stand outside in the cold, waiting for the fire to be
put out. According to Atticus, the temperature that night was sixteen, "that it was the coldest night in his memory", so naturally Scout started to get
cold and shiver (Lee 68). After the fire, Scout realized, with her family's help, that she had a blanket draped around her shoulders, a blanket given to
her by Boo Radley (Lee 71–72). The gesture, albeit small, was a significant gesture on Boo Radley's part. It showed his true nature of gentleness,
compassion, and courage, which many people don't know because of Boo's family keeping him in the Radley home. He left his home, something that
rarely happens, to protect Scout from the cold. Though some may consider the gesture insignificant, since Scout didn't actually remember him doing it,
it actually is a very monumental gesture. Throughout the book, the only reason why Boo, the recluse, left his home was for Jem and Scout. Boo
became increasingly involved in the children's lives, by watching them, looking out for them, and soon, protecting them from the harmful Bob

Boo Radley's Diary
Dear Diary, today I have been thinking if will ever be rescued from this horrible island. I no longer want to stay here anymore. My clothes got so
filthy I could wear them anymore and my hair is longer then my nose. I want to go home and sleep in a nice warm bed and have a wonderful meal.
Jack has turned very malevolent towards everyone even people in his own tribe. I wish I could delete the all the memories from this awful island. I
had been thinking that we would soon be rescued. I think a large ship will pass by and see the signal fire and come a save us. Then would have a
long travel home but there would be beds and warm meals that weren't pig and fruit. When we would get home our parents would see the grown men
we have turned in to. When

How Does Boo Radley Influence Society
Many people find themselves influenced by others who have more power than them every day. This is seen a lot in the town of Maycomb,
Alabama, in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Many children in this town follow the paths of their family members, or join the misadventures of
their friends. Usually, the paths that these individuals take are positive and are encouraged by their family and peers. However, the characters
Mayella Ewell and Boo Radley are influenced by their dominant family members to do deeds that most people find odd or unappetizing, separating
them from the community in a negative way. As a result, the decisions made by superior characters have molded the lives of Mayella and Boo. Both
Mayella and Boo have no companions. Mayella...show more content...
Since nobody has seen Boo in 15 years, the town has made up peculiar rumors about his activities and demeanor. For example, they say that he had
"a long jagged scar ... what teeth he had were yellow and rotten; his eyes popped, and he drooled most of the time" (Lee 16). These are all made up
descriptions about him, which is further proof of the mystery that envelopes him. Mayella, however, is mysterious as well, as people generally do
not glimpse her or her siblings, but is thought of as rubbish because of her father and her ancestors. However, Mayella has been seen by the town a
good number of times, like around Christmas, when the inhabitants bring their own trash to the dump. The town knows a great deal about her family
life (working to support the family) as well. When she is interrogated in court by Atticus, the living conditions of her home are publicized: water has
to be fetched from a spring at one end of the scrapheap that they live in; their father spends up all their welfare money through purchasing and
consuming whiskey; and the kids are always sick, among other awful conditions. These descriptions don't relate with the homes of normal people;
instead, they are used to describe the living quarters of guttersnipe, homeless people, or others that cannot support themselves financially and are forced
to live in

Boo Radley Journals
Journal #1: Dear Diary, I feel so trapped in this house, I haven't been able to leave this place for years now. I am still currently living my brother
Nathan Radley and he makes me feel like this house is hell. He won't let me out or do anything fun around the house. I feel like a prisoner inside my
own house. There is no hope of excitement in this house, absolutely nothing to do at all. My neighbors down the street, these two kids named Jem
and Scout think I'm some kind of dangerous killer and I have no idea where they got that information from but they do seem pretty interested in me. I
don't know exactly why there interested in me but I am going to find out why and I hope I can become friends with them soon. Im just a stranger...show

I really wish I could go and watch the trial buy you know being me I can't even go outside of my house let alone down to the courthouse. I just pray
for Tom that he isn't found guilty for something he didn't do. Journal #7: Dear Diary, I heard news about the trial that is being held against Tom
Robinson for raping Mayella Ewell. From what I am hearing I think the Ewells are lying. They're just trying to kill an innocent man for no good
reason other than color discrimination. The trial continued but one day I looked through my window and I think I saw Aunt Alexandra move
into Atticus's house. Scout becoming older and is looking more like a lady than she did before. Later that day I found out the outcome of the trial
and I was depressed Tom was found guilty. I don't know what exactly happened but it does hurt me to see a innocent man go to jail and serve a
death penalty. Soon it will be Halloween and I can see Scout and Jem are really excited to go to this pageant at their school. I really wish I could go
watch but maybe I'll sneak out this one time, maybe. I'm getting scared just thinking about it. I'll just wait and see what happens. Journal #8: Dear
Diary, Just found out that Tom was killed trying to escape apparently. I feel like I should be helping Atticus but I can't come out of my house not just

How Is Boo Radley A Good Man In His Life
Did you ever think that Boo Radley would have been a good man in his life? Boo Radley was a respectable guy like Atticus and other people in the
town, but the things he has been through might have made him a little violent. Boo Radley is a sweet but sensitive man, he always wanted to see
people very happy and cheerful, but since he never had that in his life he feels kind of left out from the group. Boo Radley will always a nice
person, he had helped a lot of people without them knowing like when he covered Scout in a blanket during the fire at Mrs. Maudie's house because
she was feeling cold, Boo also placed objects in the tree, he didn't mean to hurt them but just to communicate with them. Boo Radley is a person who

Essay On Boo Radley
During the prejudiced and racially charged era of the 1930's, attorney Atticus Finch from Maycomb, Alabama finds himself defending an innocent black
man falsely charged with rape. Meanwhile, his son, Jem, and daughter, Scout, along with their friend, Dill, find themselves captivated by the rumors
plaguing their neighbor, the mysterious and elusive Arthur "Boo" Radley. It is an undisputed fact Scout, Jem, and Dill persistently plague the Radleys
with their childish antics. Some people feel the children should not pursue the Radleys, while others believe the children should pursue the Radleys.
The children should pursue the Radleys for three reasons: Boo Radley saves the helpless children, events serve as important lessons, and the children

A consistent theme throughout the book is that perspective is everything. Atticus Finch even tells them this by saying, "you never really understand a
person until you consider things from his point of view . . . until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." As Scout is walking Boo Radley
back to his home after the attack, it dawns on her that Boo is not a monster, but simply a man with no desire to interact with the outside world. She
realizes that as she went about her everyday life fooling around on the Radley property, walking to school, and playing games, Boo was observing all
of this from his own perspective. The events also teach the children innocence is not to be destroyed as Atticus illustrates when he tells Scout and Jem
it is a sin to kill a mockingbird, because "they do nothing but make pretty music for everyone" to enjoy. Out of fear of tarnishing his own reputation,
Bob Ewell forces his daughter to falsely accuse a black man of raping her. The man was innocent, yet the jury convicts him as guilty and sentences
him to execution. As if that were not enough, Bob Ewell tries to kill Scout and Jem, two innocent kids, merely because their father defended the
innocent black man in court. Boo's innocence becomes evident to Scout the moment the identity of their rescuer is revealed as Boo, himself. She
finally identifies Boo Radley as the mockingbird he always

Boo Radley Character Analysis
Over the course of chapters 1–7 in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, readers witness a turn in Jem's characterization. In the beginning, Jem is
portrayed as childish and gullible. He plays games with Scout and believes the impractical rumors spread about Boo Radley. When explaining Boo
Radley to Dill, "Jem gave a reasonable description of Boo: Boo was about six–and–a–half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels
and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands were bloodstained–if you ate an animal raw, you could never wash the blood off." (14). Lee describes
this as a "reasonable" explanation, and although it isn't realistic, Jem knows Boo in this sense. Jem has grown up believing the rumors that he hears,
along with adding his own imagination to...show more content...
Also, in his description, Jem uses the word "tracks". This word choice dehumanizes Boo, and it makes him seem more like an animal, or monster,
than a human. Jem views Boo as this monster he describes and seems to consider Boo as lesser. Overall, at the beginning of the novel, Jem is gullible
and readily believes others' thinking instead of making his own interpretations of Boo Radley. Later in the chapters, Jem's childish characteristics
metamorphosize as he gets older. After Jem, Scout and Dill try to lure Boo out of the house, Jem tries to explain to Scout why he has to retrieve his
pants from the Radleys. Jem and Scout begin to part ways, and Jem tries to explain that "'I just wanta keep it that way, Scout. We shouldn'a done that
tonight, Scout.' It was then, I suppose, that Jem and I first began to part company. Sometimes I did not understand him, but my periods of bewilderment
were short–lived. This was beyond me. 'Please,' I pleaded, 'can'tcha just think about it for a minute– by yourself on that place–'" (63). In this dispute,
readers witness a turn in Jem's

Boo Radley In To Kill A Mockingbird
In to Kill a Mockingbird, Boo Radley is one of the strangest characters to understand from the perspective that the author gives him to the
perspective that the characters perceive him as in most of the story. The author treats Boo with respect while the characters throughout the book
reject him until the end of the novel because of him being of a lower status compared to other people. The role that the author gives Boo Radley in
the story is to be a person that even under rejection will do the right thing. The end of the story shows how the characters view of Boo Radley and
the author's view of Boo Radley come together and are the same. In the beginning of the novel, Boo Radley is perceived as as a monster by the other
characters in the book. Boo Radley is described in many ways such as being "a raw–squirrel eating ghoul," which is a name that was given to him
through a legend created by other characters in the novel. The characters experience a shift in how they feel about Boo Radley from the beginning of
the book to the end. Boo saving Jem and Scout at night after the play was the event that took place that completely shifted the view of Boo. Before he
saved the children, he was viewed as an outcast or a monster and after Boo saved the children, everyone viewed him as a hero which they had thought

Throughout the novel, the author treats Boo with respect even through the things that people say about him or think about him. This is true because
the action of Boo saving the children was a heroic act that was not expected from Boo by the other characters. This shows that the author thought of
Boo as a person, that even through the harsh environment that surrounded him, could do the right thing for the people of Maycomb even though he
was treated harshly by them. But, unlike the character's, the author thought this way about Boo throughout the whole

Who Is Boo Radley
In "To Kill a Mockingbird" the scene that I think; that I like the best is, when Boo Radley all of a sudden appears, and goes to help the kids when;
they were in danger because; Bob Ewell tried to hurt the kids. The reason why it's my favorite part is; because I think it was very heroic of Boo
saving the kids from of Bob Ewell. In chapter 28 it talks about the jem and scout; walking home and then Bob Ewell comes out; and tries to hurt the
kids; but then Boo; comes out of nowhere; and saves the kids from Bob Ewell. Also, when Boo Radley takes jem; to his house because he was
unconscious because Bob Ewell had harmed Jem.

Boo Radley Character Analysis Essay
"To kill A Mockingbird" is an American classic, this book is thought all around the world because of it's broad point of view about racism and
prejudice. The book shows the whole perspective of a little American white girl living in an old tire town called Maycomb in South Alabama, this town
is filled with racism, prejudice, and hate towards non–white folks. My character analysis is about Boo Radley, Boo Radley is a kind and forgiving
person, but throughout the book he is almost all the time misunderstood because of his old stories told by folks around the town..
To start Boo Radley is a kind person, he cares about everyone. This can be seen throughout the book in a series of events, like when Boo put a blanket
on Scout's shoulder...show more content...
"Will you take me home?" (Lee pg 372).
Finally, Boo is almost all the time misunderstood throughout the story, Boo is misunderstood because he never comes out of his house, this
happens because of Boo's fears towards the outside world, this fears were born from stories that people started telling around town about him
doing awful things when the only actual bad thing he ever did was get in trouble just like a normal child. Everybody think Boo is insane at the
beginning of the book, there is just a few that actually see Boo Radley as a human being for example Miss Maudie and Atticus. Miss Maudie told
the children (Jem and Scout) that Boo was actually a good person when he was young and probably still is. Jem and Scout slowly start
understanding why Boo doesn't come out of his house "I think I'm beginning to understand why Boo Radley's stayed shut up in the house all this
time... it's because he wants to stay inside". (Lee pg 304), now what this claim is telling us is that Boo stays inside not because he is kept there by his
family but because he just simply fears a judgment from the outside world.
As you can see Boo Radley is a kind and forgiving person, he is also misunderstood a lot of times

Boo Radley Characterization
Characterization plays an important role when it comes to storytelling. Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird, uses different types of
personalities from different characters, to pull the book together. Boo Radley is shy, mysterious, and protective, while Calpurnia is a hard working
lady, that is a motherly figure to Jem and Scout.
Throughout the book To Kill a Mockingbird Boo Radley takes on the characteristics of being shy, mysterious, and protective. Boo Radley leads the
readers to think that he is shy when Scout says "It was deep in shadow. Boo would be comfortable in the dark." (Lee 364). This shows that Boo is
uncomfortable around people. He is mysterious when the author tells us about the event "As Mr. Radley passed by,

(1)There are many things people fear but more often than not its comes to misunderstanding or the unwillingness to learn And in the novel, To Kill
a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the character Boo or Arthur Radley is a great example of this.(2) Boo Radley is a NEET so as such he stays inside
his home without leave, as such the children are naturally intrigued and afraid of him due to his mysterious nature.(3) As the story progressed Boo is
generally described in a negative manner, the people in the town usually only talk of the negative things he may have done, as such the children create
this fantastical image of him an image of fear curiosity and pity.(4) The descriptions the children give of Boo are so extreme that they make him nearly
inhuman "Boo was about six–and–a–half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands

As you know, Susie and I finally made our big move to Chicago and have just settled in. When we had got to packing, I found quite a number of

Boo Radley Setting
Through words, actions, and settings, authors try to create a message that can be useful to the reader. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee created
her setting in a time where kids grew up being risky, adventurous and curious. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout, Jem and Dill are the kids of the story.
Lee starts the book with the mystery of the Radley House, inhabited by the supposedly ghost–like creature, Boo Radley. Of course, when the kids are
curious, they have to investigate. They accumulate knowledge about Boo Radley, and become amused by him. "Let's try to make him come out, I'd
like to see what he looks like." The kids go back in forth, trying to get each other to interact with the Radley House. Then, Dill dares Jem, someone
who has

To start, Boo Radley is one character in the book To Kill a Mockingbird that represents the mockingbird theme. First of all, throughout the book, Boo
has been helpful to Jem and Scout. When Mr. Ewell attacked Jem and Scout, it was Boo who came to their rescue and murdered Mr. Ewell (Lee 362).
For this reason, Boo can be considered a mockingbird because mockingbirds are innocent and do nothing but help people. Even though the rumors
about Boo told otherwise, Boo had never done anything to hurt his neighbors, suggesting that he watches over them, which is equivalent to singing his
own silent mockingbird song. The children had never been nice to him in the past (mocked him with games, invaded his privacy), but he still chose to
help them. Also,...show more content...
This is similar to killing a mockingbird in the way that a mockingbird had done nothing wrong so killing them is a sin. Boo Radley had done nothing
wrong in his life either, so by saying these rumors, the children are sinning and lying. Even though he deserves no harm, the way the kids make false
comments about him are "killing" his identity. Another character that portrays the theme of the mockingbird is Jem. The first example proving this is
shown by his innocence at the beginning of the book. When Scout and Jem were walking to the school on Halloween, Jem referenced their past by
saying, "'Ain't you scared of haints?'", and Scout laughed, thinking, "Haints, Hot Steams, incantations, secret signs, had vanished with our years as mist
with sunrise" (Lee 341). To point out, Jem and Scout completely believed in all of the child–like superstitions because they were not yet exposed to the
truths of the world. These beliefs proved just how innocent Jem was. Similarly, mockingbirds are known for their innocence because they cause no
harm to anyone. This is how Jem used to act as a child. Another reason why Jem is a mockingbird is proven when Mr. Ewell attacks

Boo Radley Background
The book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee tells a story about a curious girl named Scout. The book takes place in Maycomb County, Alabama.
So far, I think it is a careless idea for Scout and her friends to be investigating the Radley place unless they are with an adult. Scout and her friends
are immensely suspicious of the Radley place. They are unsure as to whether or not Boo Radley still lives in the house. They are almost caught
peering through the window of the Radley house in hope that they would see Boo Radley. Scout described how "the roar of a shotgun shattered the
neighborhood(Lee 53)." Therefore, the fact that they were shot at should discourage them from going back. Meanwhile, they begin to find objects in a
knothole of a tree

Who Is Boo Radley In To Kill A Mockingbird
Arthur "Boo" Radley is a very mysterious character in the way that not a lot has been know about him, even from the beginning of the novel.
Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, we continue to learn a little more about him. People in Maycomb fear the unknown properties of
Boo. They created horrible rumors about him in order to answer their questions about him. For example, they claimed that he was dead and stuffed
into the chimney, that he eats cats and dogs, and sneaks out during the night to look into people's windows. Despite all of these horrible rumors, Boo
Radley is a rather friendly character in To Kill a Mockingbird. We chose this character above the others because not a lot had been revealed about
Boo. Later on, however, we find out a little more about him. The mood of this poem is understanding and reflective. The message we hoped to convey
through this poem is that Boo Radley is not an evil figure, as depicted in the first part of the book; but he is rather, misunderstood, and a kindhearted
person with good intentions. Also, one should not judge someone through horrible rumors and what people say about them, but through...show more

Also, one should not judge someone through horrible rumors and what people say about them, but through personal experience. This poem shows
how in the beginning he was misjudged. We showed the way he had been treated by the people in Maycomb to illustrate how the lack of
understanding of a person can lead to hurtful rumors that can affect a person greatly. Even children like Scout and Jem, who have never even once
met Boo Radley, are frightened of him. However, as they learn more about him, and after he saves them from Bob Ewell, they realize that Boo Radley
is not a sociopath, but rather, a timid but considerate

Character Analysis Of Boo Radley

  • 1. Character Analysis Of Boo Radley The Mystery Named Boo RadleyPermanently bloody hands. Yellow, rotten teeth. A long, jagged scar running across his face. It is easy to see why the Finch children and Dill Harris would be fearful of this obscure man named Arthur 'Boo' Radley, but the rumors that have been spread shouldn't warrant their fear of Boo. This information is almost the extent of what the kids know about the puzzling, secretive man known as Boo, but the kids are determined to find out more about this mystery man in To Kill A Mockingbird. Boo has had quite a few horrifying rumors spread about him through the town of Maycomb, but a rumor alone is not enough to build a strong fear of someone without knowing them personally. One of the worst stories that has been told was from Miss Stephanie to Jem. She said she knew everything about Boo, and this is what he heard when she told him: '[...] Boo was sitting in the livingroom cutting some items from The Maycomb Tribune to paste in his scrapbook. His father entered the room. As Mr. Radley passed by, Boo drove the scissors into his parent's leg, pulled them out, wiped them on his pants, and resumed his activities.' (Lee 11) This rumor is definitely disturbing, but you cannot take everything you hear for granted. As the story was told from person to person, I'm certain some of the details of the events that happened got twisted around, lost or misunderstood. As pointed out in other parts of the text, Boo had a troubling past but since he has been out of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. Boo Radley Heroism Harper Lee's novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is considered a classic in modern American literature. In the novel, Lee used mockingbirds as a symbol for innocent people "killed" by evil things. Although cruel rumors, in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, portrayed Boo Radley as a monster, he was a mockingbird because all he did was care and do kind things for the children. Instead of causing harm, like most Maycomb townspeople believed he did, he left the children gifts in the tree, draped a blanket over a cold Scout, and most importantly, saved the children from Bob Ewell. Arthur "Boo" Radley was a selfless individual who cared for the happiness of others. Like a mockingbird, Boo Radley didn't do anything but "sing" for the children. Much to...show more content... During Miss Maudie's unfortunate house fire, in chapter eight of the novel, Scout and Jem had to stand outside in the cold, waiting for the fire to be put out. According to Atticus, the temperature that night was sixteen, "that it was the coldest night in his memory", so naturally Scout started to get cold and shiver (Lee 68). After the fire, Scout realized, with her family's help, that she had a blanket draped around her shoulders, a blanket given to her by Boo Radley (Lee 71–72). The gesture, albeit small, was a significant gesture on Boo Radley's part. It showed his true nature of gentleness, compassion, and courage, which many people don't know because of Boo's family keeping him in the Radley home. He left his home, something that rarely happens, to protect Scout from the cold. Though some may consider the gesture insignificant, since Scout didn't actually remember him doing it, it actually is a very monumental gesture. Throughout the book, the only reason why Boo, the recluse, left his home was for Jem and Scout. Boo became increasingly involved in the children's lives, by watching them, looking out for them, and soon, protecting them from the harmful Bob Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Boo Radley's Diary Dear Diary, today I have been thinking if will ever be rescued from this horrible island. I no longer want to stay here anymore. My clothes got so filthy I could wear them anymore and my hair is longer then my nose. I want to go home and sleep in a nice warm bed and have a wonderful meal. Jack has turned very malevolent towards everyone even people in his own tribe. I wish I could delete the all the memories from this awful island. I had been thinking that we would soon be rescued. I think a large ship will pass by and see the signal fire and come a save us. Then would have a long travel home but there would be beds and warm meals that weren't pig and fruit. When we would get home our parents would see the grown men we have turned in to. When Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. How Does Boo Radley Influence Society Many people find themselves influenced by others who have more power than them every day. This is seen a lot in the town of Maycomb, Alabama, in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Many children in this town follow the paths of their family members, or join the misadventures of their friends. Usually, the paths that these individuals take are positive and are encouraged by their family and peers. However, the characters Mayella Ewell and Boo Radley are influenced by their dominant family members to do deeds that most people find odd or unappetizing, separating them from the community in a negative way. As a result, the decisions made by superior characters have molded the lives of Mayella and Boo. Both Mayella and Boo have no companions. Mayella...show more content... Since nobody has seen Boo in 15 years, the town has made up peculiar rumors about his activities and demeanor. For example, they say that he had "a long jagged scar ... what teeth he had were yellow and rotten; his eyes popped, and he drooled most of the time" (Lee 16). These are all made up descriptions about him, which is further proof of the mystery that envelopes him. Mayella, however, is mysterious as well, as people generally do not glimpse her or her siblings, but is thought of as rubbish because of her father and her ancestors. However, Mayella has been seen by the town a good number of times, like around Christmas, when the inhabitants bring their own trash to the dump. The town knows a great deal about her family life (working to support the family) as well. When she is interrogated in court by Atticus, the living conditions of her home are publicized: water has to be fetched from a spring at one end of the scrapheap that they live in; their father spends up all their welfare money through purchasing and consuming whiskey; and the kids are always sick, among other awful conditions. These descriptions don't relate with the homes of normal people; instead, they are used to describe the living quarters of guttersnipe, homeless people, or others that cannot support themselves financially and are forced to live in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Boo Radley Journals Journal #1: Dear Diary, I feel so trapped in this house, I haven't been able to leave this place for years now. I am still currently living my brother Nathan Radley and he makes me feel like this house is hell. He won't let me out or do anything fun around the house. I feel like a prisoner inside my own house. There is no hope of excitement in this house, absolutely nothing to do at all. My neighbors down the street, these two kids named Jem and Scout think I'm some kind of dangerous killer and I have no idea where they got that information from but they do seem pretty interested in me. I don't know exactly why there interested in me but I am going to find out why and I hope I can become friends with them soon. Im just a stranger...show more content... I really wish I could go and watch the trial buy you know being me I can't even go outside of my house let alone down to the courthouse. I just pray for Tom that he isn't found guilty for something he didn't do. Journal #7: Dear Diary, I heard news about the trial that is being held against Tom Robinson for raping Mayella Ewell. From what I am hearing I think the Ewells are lying. They're just trying to kill an innocent man for no good reason other than color discrimination. The trial continued but one day I looked through my window and I think I saw Aunt Alexandra move into Atticus's house. Scout becoming older and is looking more like a lady than she did before. Later that day I found out the outcome of the trial and I was depressed Tom was found guilty. I don't know what exactly happened but it does hurt me to see a innocent man go to jail and serve a death penalty. Soon it will be Halloween and I can see Scout and Jem are really excited to go to this pageant at their school. I really wish I could go watch but maybe I'll sneak out this one time, maybe. I'm getting scared just thinking about it. I'll just wait and see what happens. Journal #8: Dear Diary, Just found out that Tom was killed trying to escape apparently. I feel like I should be helping Atticus but I can't come out of my house not just yet. • 7. How Is Boo Radley A Good Man In His Life Did you ever think that Boo Radley would have been a good man in his life? Boo Radley was a respectable guy like Atticus and other people in the town, but the things he has been through might have made him a little violent. Boo Radley is a sweet but sensitive man, he always wanted to see people very happy and cheerful, but since he never had that in his life he feels kind of left out from the group. Boo Radley will always a nice person, he had helped a lot of people without them knowing like when he covered Scout in a blanket during the fire at Mrs. Maudie's house because she was feeling cold, Boo also placed objects in the tree, he didn't mean to hurt them but just to communicate with them. • 8. Essay On Boo Radley During the prejudiced and racially charged era of the 1930's, attorney Atticus Finch from Maycomb, Alabama finds himself defending an innocent black man falsely charged with rape. Meanwhile, his son, Jem, and daughter, Scout, along with their friend, Dill, find themselves captivated by the rumors plaguing their neighbor, the mysterious and elusive Arthur "Boo" Radley. It is an undisputed fact Scout, Jem, and Dill persistently plague the Radleys with their childish antics. Some people feel the children should not pursue the Radleys, while others believe the children should pursue the Radleys. The children should pursue the Radleys for three reasons: Boo Radley saves the helpless children, events serve as important lessons, and the children ...show more content... A consistent theme throughout the book is that perspective is everything. Atticus Finch even tells them this by saying, "you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view . . . until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." As Scout is walking Boo Radley back to his home after the attack, it dawns on her that Boo is not a monster, but simply a man with no desire to interact with the outside world. She realizes that as she went about her everyday life fooling around on the Radley property, walking to school, and playing games, Boo was observing all of this from his own perspective. The events also teach the children innocence is not to be destroyed as Atticus illustrates when he tells Scout and Jem it is a sin to kill a mockingbird, because "they do nothing but make pretty music for everyone" to enjoy. Out of fear of tarnishing his own reputation, Bob Ewell forces his daughter to falsely accuse a black man of raping her. The man was innocent, yet the jury convicts him as guilty and sentences him to execution. As if that were not enough, Bob Ewell tries to kill Scout and Jem, two innocent kids, merely because their father defended the innocent black man in court. Boo's innocence becomes evident to Scout the moment the identity of their rescuer is revealed as Boo, himself. She finally identifies Boo Radley as the mockingbird he always Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Boo Radley Character Analysis Over the course of chapters 1–7 in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, readers witness a turn in Jem's characterization. In the beginning, Jem is portrayed as childish and gullible. He plays games with Scout and believes the impractical rumors spread about Boo Radley. When explaining Boo Radley to Dill, "Jem gave a reasonable description of Boo: Boo was about six–and–a–half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands were bloodstained–if you ate an animal raw, you could never wash the blood off." (14). Lee describes this as a "reasonable" explanation, and although it isn't realistic, Jem knows Boo in this sense. Jem has grown up believing the rumors that he hears, along with adding his own imagination to...show more content... Also, in his description, Jem uses the word "tracks". This word choice dehumanizes Boo, and it makes him seem more like an animal, or monster, than a human. Jem views Boo as this monster he describes and seems to consider Boo as lesser. Overall, at the beginning of the novel, Jem is gullible and readily believes others' thinking instead of making his own interpretations of Boo Radley. Later in the chapters, Jem's childish characteristics metamorphosize as he gets older. After Jem, Scout and Dill try to lure Boo out of the house, Jem tries to explain to Scout why he has to retrieve his pants from the Radleys. Jem and Scout begin to part ways, and Jem tries to explain that "'I just wanta keep it that way, Scout. We shouldn'a done that tonight, Scout.' It was then, I suppose, that Jem and I first began to part company. Sometimes I did not understand him, but my periods of bewilderment were short–lived. This was beyond me. 'Please,' I pleaded, 'can'tcha just think about it for a minute– by yourself on that place–'" (63). In this dispute, readers witness a turn in Jem's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Boo Radley In To Kill A Mockingbird In to Kill a Mockingbird, Boo Radley is one of the strangest characters to understand from the perspective that the author gives him to the perspective that the characters perceive him as in most of the story. The author treats Boo with respect while the characters throughout the book reject him until the end of the novel because of him being of a lower status compared to other people. The role that the author gives Boo Radley in the story is to be a person that even under rejection will do the right thing. The end of the story shows how the characters view of Boo Radley and the author's view of Boo Radley come together and are the same. In the beginning of the novel, Boo Radley is perceived as as a monster by the other characters in the book. Boo Radley is described in many ways such as being "a raw–squirrel eating ghoul," which is a name that was given to him through a legend created by other characters in the novel. The characters experience a shift in how they feel about Boo Radley from the beginning of the book to the end. Boo saving Jem and Scout at night after the play was the event that took place that completely shifted the view of Boo. Before he saved the children, he was viewed as an outcast or a monster and after Boo saved the children, everyone viewed him as a hero which they had thought wrong about the whole time....show more content... Throughout the novel, the author treats Boo with respect even through the things that people say about him or think about him. This is true because the action of Boo saving the children was a heroic act that was not expected from Boo by the other characters. This shows that the author thought of Boo as a person, that even through the harsh environment that surrounded him, could do the right thing for the people of Maycomb even though he was treated harshly by them. But, unlike the character's, the author thought this way about Boo throughout the whole Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Who Is Boo Radley In "To Kill a Mockingbird" the scene that I think; that I like the best is, when Boo Radley all of a sudden appears, and goes to help the kids when; they were in danger because; Bob Ewell tried to hurt the kids. The reason why it's my favorite part is; because I think it was very heroic of Boo saving the kids from of Bob Ewell. In chapter 28 it talks about the jem and scout; walking home and then Bob Ewell comes out; and tries to hurt the kids; but then Boo; comes out of nowhere; and saves the kids from Bob Ewell. • 12. Boo Radley Character Analysis Essay "To kill A Mockingbird" is an American classic, this book is thought all around the world because of it's broad point of view about racism and prejudice. The book shows the whole perspective of a little American white girl living in an old tire town called Maycomb in South Alabama, this town is filled with racism, prejudice, and hate towards non–white folks. My character analysis is about Boo Radley, Boo Radley is a kind and forgiving person, but throughout the book he is almost all the time misunderstood because of his old stories told by folks around the town.. To start Boo Radley is a kind person, he cares about everyone. This can be seen throughout the book in a series of events, like when Boo put a blanket on Scout's shoulder...show more content... "Will you take me home?" (Lee pg 372). Finally, Boo is almost all the time misunderstood throughout the story, Boo is misunderstood because he never comes out of his house, this happens because of Boo's fears towards the outside world, this fears were born from stories that people started telling around town about him doing awful things when the only actual bad thing he ever did was get in trouble just like a normal child. Everybody think Boo is insane at the beginning of the book, there is just a few that actually see Boo Radley as a human being for example Miss Maudie and Atticus. Miss Maudie told the children (Jem and Scout) that Boo was actually a good person when he was young and probably still is. Jem and Scout slowly start understanding why Boo doesn't come out of his house "I think I'm beginning to understand why Boo Radley's stayed shut up in the house all this time... it's because he wants to stay inside". (Lee pg 304), now what this claim is telling us is that Boo stays inside not because he is kept there by his family but because he just simply fears a judgment from the outside world. As you can see Boo Radley is a kind and forgiving person, he is also misunderstood a lot of times Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Boo Radley Characterization Characterization plays an important role when it comes to storytelling. Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird, uses different types of personalities from different characters, to pull the book together. Boo Radley is shy, mysterious, and protective, while Calpurnia is a hard working lady, that is a motherly figure to Jem and Scout. Throughout the book To Kill a Mockingbird Boo Radley takes on the characteristics of being shy, mysterious, and protective. Boo Radley leads the readers to think that he is shy when Scout says "It was deep in shadow. Boo would be comfortable in the dark." (Lee 364). This shows that Boo is uncomfortable around people. He is mysterious when the author tells us about the event "As Mr. Radley passed by, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Boo Radley Character Analysis Essay (1)There are many things people fear but more often than not its comes to misunderstanding or the unwillingness to learn And in the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the character Boo or Arthur Radley is a great example of this.(2) Boo Radley is a NEET so as such he stays inside his home without leave, as such the children are naturally intrigued and afraid of him due to his mysterious nature.(3) As the story progressed Boo is generally described in a negative manner, the people in the town usually only talk of the negative things he may have done, as such the children create this fantastical image of him an image of fear curiosity and pity.(4) The descriptions the children give of Boo are so extreme that they make him nearly inhuman "Boo was about six–and–a–half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands were bloodstained –– if you ate an animal raw, you could never wash the blood off....show more content... • 15. Boo Radley Diary Entry As you know, Susie and I finally made our big move to Chicago and have just settled in. When we had got to packing, I found quite a number of childhood memories hidden in the attic. I got to reminiscing and, well, I thought to make a scrapbook for you. I remember all those summers years ago. By golly, time flies. Remember Dill? Him, Scout and I would always play those silly make–believe games in the yard. The Boo Radley one had always been our favorite, but I recall you weren't much of a fan of that. I would sneak in and grab scissors while Cal wasn't looking and use them to cut out newspapers, like all the stories said Boo did. I remember you catching and lecturing us. I understood the wrong about what we were doing, but I still had this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Boo Radley Setting Through words, actions, and settings, authors try to create a message that can be useful to the reader. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee created her setting in a time where kids grew up being risky, adventurous and curious. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout, Jem and Dill are the kids of the story. Lee starts the book with the mystery of the Radley House, inhabited by the supposedly ghost–like creature, Boo Radley. Of course, when the kids are curious, they have to investigate. They accumulate knowledge about Boo Radley, and become amused by him. "Let's try to make him come out, I'd like to see what he looks like." The kids go back in forth, trying to get each other to interact with the Radley House. Then, Dill dares Jem, someone who has Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. To start, Boo Radley is one character in the book To Kill a Mockingbird that represents the mockingbird theme. First of all, throughout the book, Boo has been helpful to Jem and Scout. When Mr. Ewell attacked Jem and Scout, it was Boo who came to their rescue and murdered Mr. Ewell (Lee 362). For this reason, Boo can be considered a mockingbird because mockingbirds are innocent and do nothing but help people. Even though the rumors about Boo told otherwise, Boo had never done anything to hurt his neighbors, suggesting that he watches over them, which is equivalent to singing his own silent mockingbird song. The children had never been nice to him in the past (mocked him with games, invaded his privacy), but he still chose to help them. Also,...show more content... This is similar to killing a mockingbird in the way that a mockingbird had done nothing wrong so killing them is a sin. Boo Radley had done nothing wrong in his life either, so by saying these rumors, the children are sinning and lying. Even though he deserves no harm, the way the kids make false comments about him are "killing" his identity. Another character that portrays the theme of the mockingbird is Jem. The first example proving this is shown by his innocence at the beginning of the book. When Scout and Jem were walking to the school on Halloween, Jem referenced their past by saying, "'Ain't you scared of haints?'", and Scout laughed, thinking, "Haints, Hot Steams, incantations, secret signs, had vanished with our years as mist with sunrise" (Lee 341). To point out, Jem and Scout completely believed in all of the child–like superstitions because they were not yet exposed to the truths of the world. These beliefs proved just how innocent Jem was. Similarly, mockingbirds are known for their innocence because they cause no harm to anyone. This is how Jem used to act as a child. Another reason why Jem is a mockingbird is proven when Mr. Ewell attacks Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Boo Radley Background The book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee tells a story about a curious girl named Scout. The book takes place in Maycomb County, Alabama. So far, I think it is a careless idea for Scout and her friends to be investigating the Radley place unless they are with an adult. Scout and her friends are immensely suspicious of the Radley place. They are unsure as to whether or not Boo Radley still lives in the house. They are almost caught peering through the window of the Radley house in hope that they would see Boo Radley. Scout described how "the roar of a shotgun shattered the neighborhood(Lee 53)." Therefore, the fact that they were shot at should discourage them from going back. Meanwhile, they begin to find objects in a knothole of a tree Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Who Is Boo Radley In To Kill A Mockingbird Arthur "Boo" Radley is a very mysterious character in the way that not a lot has been know about him, even from the beginning of the novel. Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, we continue to learn a little more about him. People in Maycomb fear the unknown properties of Boo. They created horrible rumors about him in order to answer their questions about him. For example, they claimed that he was dead and stuffed into the chimney, that he eats cats and dogs, and sneaks out during the night to look into people's windows. Despite all of these horrible rumors, Boo Radley is a rather friendly character in To Kill a Mockingbird. We chose this character above the others because not a lot had been revealed about Boo. Later on, however, we find out a little more about him. The mood of this poem is understanding and reflective. The message we hoped to convey through this poem is that Boo Radley is not an evil figure, as depicted in the first part of the book; but he is rather, misunderstood, and a kindhearted person with good intentions. Also, one should not judge someone through horrible rumors and what people say about them, but through...show more content... Also, one should not judge someone through horrible rumors and what people say about them, but through personal experience. This poem shows how in the beginning he was misjudged. We showed the way he had been treated by the people in Maycomb to illustrate how the lack of understanding of a person can lead to hurtful rumors that can affect a person greatly. Even children like Scout and Jem, who have never even once met Boo Radley, are frightened of him. However, as they learn more about him, and after he saves them from Bob Ewell, they realize that Boo Radley is not a sociopath, but rather, a timid but considerate Get more content on HelpWriting.net
