Research Paper On Mass Communication
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
According to FIREHOUSE (2003), communication comes in many forms such as; body language, written word, oral communication, and touch are all
examples that we use every day to get our messages across. How we use these techniques, and how others view their meaning, can greatly influence our
workplace relationships with others. Perhaps the most important form of communication is that which establishes our credibility and trust with others,
interpersonal communication.
According to Hartley (2002), he define interpersonal communication involves face–to–face meetings between two participants, varying roles and
relationship to one another, always two–way, involves the creation and exchange of meaning, partly...show more content...

Depression Essay
Depression is a very big topic to discuss. The most commonly asked questions are: What is depression, and what disorders are related to depression?
How common is depression? Is it serious? What treatment is used? And, What kind of symptoms should a person be looking for?
Depression is more than the everyday ups and downs. You know when a person is depressed when their sad feelings interfere with theireveryday life.
Depression doesn't only affect feelings, but can change behavior, physical health and appearance, academic performance, social activities, and the
ability to make decisions that are face every day. The causes of depression are still unknown, but researchers have found a genetic link between most

People who don't think that teens could suffer from depression are wrong, depression can affect people of any age, race, ethnic or economic group.
One out of every twenty–five teens suffers from depression. Depression can be very serious. It has been noted that depression can be linked to poor
school performance, alcohol and drug abuse, running away, and feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness. Over the past twenty–five years,
researchers have found that the rate of suicide among teenagers and young adults has increased dramatically. Suicide is often linked to depression.
Some say that talking about depression only makes it worse. The truth is that talking to someone about your feelings can help you realize that
professional help is needed. By showing concern and support, you can encourage someone to talk to a trusted person. Depression is treatable.
Between eighty and ninety percent of people with depression can be helped. For the more serious cases of depression antidepressant medications and
psychotherapies can be used. For the milder, less serious cases, psychotherapy may be enough by itself. Antidepressants are used for symptom relief
and psychotherapy is used to learn more effective ways to deal with everyday problems through talking. In most cases psychotherapy is done in ten to
twenty week sessions. Therapists focus on the patients' disturbed personal relationships. In cases where the patients' symptoms don't progress with in

Essay On Internship
INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Internship is an opportunity offered by various companies to potential students or candidates, called as "interns", to work in the firm for a limited or
fixed time period. Internship offers students lot of exposure to the practical world and provides practical experiences in the industry relating to their
field of study. This becomes a valuable experience as it allows us to understand how our studies are applied in the "real world", and it gives a good
picture for our Curriculum Vitae`.
Internships can also be called as job training for professional careers. Internships generally, consists exchange of ideas and services for experience
between students and organizations. Some interns find permanent, paid programme with the organizations for which they worked. This gives a benefit
to the employer as they do not have to search for a new employee, as the interns are trained previously and they are less demanding. Internship
experiences provide the opportunity to apply classroom theories into the real world, thus it enhances the student's academic and their career goals.
Internships in India are career specific, college and school students often choose internships based on the branch of study at their University. Internships
for MBA graduates are the most common thing in...show more content...

Civil Engineering Essay
CIVIL ENGINEERING
Civil engineering is the oldest of the main branches of engineering. Civil engineers use their knowledge to supervise and plan construction projects
such as roads, airports, bridges, canals, tunnels, and wastewater systems. They also collaborate with architects to design and construct various types of
buildings. Some other civil engineering endeavors include highways, airports, pipelines, railroads, levees, and irrigation and sewage systems. Civil
engineers try to design their structures to be functional, efficient and durable. Most of the projects civil engineers are involved with have an impact on
the environment. They use their knowledge of the environment to create structures that are...show more content...
They could be promoted to positions such as department heads and senior or project managers. Advanced degrees as well as registration as a
professional engineer also bolster ones chances of advancement.
The current employment outlook for civil engineers in Wisconsin is favorable. Those seeking jobs in the field will find very good employment
opportunities. This holds true throughout the nation and is also the long–term employment outlook. The factors that effect employment of civil
engineers include economic conditions, population growth, and investment in public infrastructures. The Wisconsin average salary for civil
engineering positions ranges from $47,400 to $60,600. The national average starts at $47,400 and goes as high as $68,500. Many employees enjoy
generous benefit packages that include paid vacation and sick leave as well as health and dental insurance, retirement plans, and profit sharing.
The education path for civil engineers begins with high school courses. Students who have an interest in entering the field of civil engineering should
take a college preparatory curriculum which includes natural resources conservation, environmental conservation, computing, advanced programming,
calculus, biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, drafting, and computer design and drafting. Civil engineers must also have a bachelor's degree.
University coursework should include credits in

Research Paper On Tattoos
Essay Questions: Test III Answer 1: Many people choose to get tattoos for multiple reasons and while these individuals view it on a personal level,
sociologist understand there are trends and outside influences involved when it comes to "getting inked". According to Kang and Jones, individuals
get tattoos as it allows them to define who they are, gain a sense of belonging, and identify with their own personal struggles (42). As teenagers and
young adults go out into the world they often have a desire to control their own life and make their own choices. They may wish to express themselves
in a permanent, artistic way, that gives them a sense of freedom. For others tattooing connects them with a group they feel attached to. For example,
neo–primitives typically cover their whole bodies in artistic tattoos and consider it a way of connecting with the past and yourself spiritually (45). On
a more common level, individuals will get a tattoo of a sports team they played on, or a symbol that belongs to their culture or religion. Their tattoos
will remind them of who they are and what truly matters to them. Lastly, some choose to get tattoos because they've overcome a deep personal battle.
It varies from cancer survivors, to veterans, or even those who have dealt with self–harm. Understandably, there are numerous social reason why
individuals decide to obtain a tattoo. Answer 2: Immigrants already play a significant role in America's population. Expectantly, the more

Hurricane Generator Research Paper
Preparing for A Hurricane with A Hurricane Generator
When a hurricane is pounding your area with high winds and pouring rain, it is a little too late to consider what will happen if the power goes out.
Sometimes, even a small store can knock out power miles inland of where it hits for weeks at a time. Do you think you will have meats that are
still good and cold drinks at the end of that time? Hurricanes mean that people are willing to wait hours for a bag of ice to be delivered so that they
can have sandwich meat that stays chilled and edible. Instead of waiting on those things and dealing with no power for a week or more, why not do
yourself a favor and prepare for a hurricane with a hurricane generator?
Don't Get Caught by Mother Nature...show more content...
Bottles of water, canned goods, bags of ice, and more. All of those things will still be necessary, but if you have a hurricane generator, those things
become less important because you will be able to know you have warm food and water if you want it. You can have showers and so much more.
Best of all, some generators that will work great during a hurricane are also able to go other places as well. If you are still not sure, perhaps you
should check out our top picks for the best generators for hurricane season.
Small Portable
When you want a small portable generator the Generac 5943 could be ideal. It has 7500 running watts and 9375 starting watts. It is gas powered and
can power everything you want for it too, for an extended period of time.
Large Portable
For those who feel that a larger portable generator will be better, you have the option to choose a 4400–watt surge and 3500 running watt generator. It
has an 8–hour runtime on a 4–gallon gas tank. It weighs approximately 116 pounds so you do not have to worry about hurricane winds blowing it too
far away.
Permanent
The Generac 6720 Guardian Series is a stationary generator that is perfect for areas that are very prone to hurricanes and other bad weather. It can run
on both natural gas or propane, and puts out 20000 watts of power when you need it. That would make any hurricane season easier to handle because
you truly would be able

To do so, models are first created based on contexts of interest. These models incorporate word histories that are detected in a context dependent
training set of sentences. Not only will we be able to automatically generate sentences associated with the theme being modeled, but we will also be
able to help recognize phrases and sentences. In other words, this...show more content...
The training or modeling of the context consists basically of the search, coding and saving of the occurrence of contiguous word histories
corresponding to the sentences and paragraphs of the training corpus. We create coded blocks of word histories. The words in the histories are coded
by way of whole numbers. In figure 2, we give an idea of how we code the histories in the training corpus. The first word that appears in the first training

ROTATING–FIELD ALTERNATORS The rotating
–field alternator has a stationary armature winding and a rotating–field winding as shown in figure
3–1, view B The advantage of having a stationary armature winding is that the generated voltage can be connected directly to the load. A rotating
armature requires slip rings and brushes to conduct the current from the armature to the load. The armature, brushes, and slip rings are difficult to
insulate, and arc–overs and short circuits can result at high voltages. For this reason, high–voltage alternators are usually of the rotating–field type.
Since the voltage applied to the rotating field is low voltage dc, the problem of high voltage arc–over at the slip rings does not exist. The stationary
armature, or stator, of this type of alternator holds the windings that are cut by the rotating magnetic field. The voltage generated in the armature as a
result of this cutting action is the ac power that will be applied to the load. 3–3 The stators of all rotating–field alternators are about the same. The
stator consists of a laminated iron core with the armature windings embedded in this core as shown in figure 3–2. The core is secured to the stator
frame. Figure 3–2.–Stationary armature windings. Q2. What is the part of an alternator in which the output voltage is generated? Q3. What are the two
basic types of alternators? Q4. What is the main advantage of the rotating field alternator? PRACTICAL ALTERNATORS

Surrealism Essay
Surrealism
Surrealism was one of the most influential artistic movements of the 20th Century. AndrГ© Breton consolidated Surrealism as a movement in the early
1920s, trying to achieve the "total liberation of the mind and of all that resembles it[1]" through innovative and varied ideas. Surrealism deeply
influenced the world in the era between the two world wars and played a big role in the diffusion and adoption of psychology worldwide. Surrealism
faded after World War II, but its revolutionary genius has influenced every artistic movement ever since.
It is hard to define and give shape to Surrealism. Surrealism and abstract art have similar origins, "but they diverge on their interpretation of what those
origins mean to the...show more content...
Nonetheless, one cannot truly comprehend Surrealism without delving further into the Surrealist Movement itself.
AndrГ© Breton ran the Surrealist Movement with impressive discipline and rigidity, making an interesting contrast between what the Surrealists
preached and the management style of its leader. An interesting story, for example, tells how Salvador DalГ, one of the most prominent members of the
Surrealist movement, attended a New York costume party dressed up as Charles Lindbergh's son, who had been recently kidnapped and murdered.
New York's society did not take the statement well and eventually made DalГapologize for his behavior. Breton, however, almost dismissed him from
Movement because he claimed that "no one should excuse himself for a Surrealist act[6]." This anecdote demonstrates the seriousness of Breton and
his Movement towards its final objective: revolution and the slashing of society's conventions in the interest of a subconscious reality.
At the beginning, the Surrealist Movement had political ties to the Communist party and was determined to make a revolution. With time, however, the
group dropped its direct ties to communism and concentrated in spreading their own doctrine. The Surrealist Movement

Biofeedback Research Paper
Biofeedback is sometimes a very confusing topic. It refers to the use of electronic, medical devices to give more auditory, verbal, and visual
information back to the body about how it is working. For example, during biofeedback when a person tries to relax his muscles, he can hear a
sound telling the degree of relaxation. Or if a person is to slow his pulse, he can hear or see his pulses more easily than by just feeling the pulse. By
hearing the pulse, it is easier to try to manipulate it with his conscious control. This is also done with temperature control. When people are nervous,
their hands might get colder or sweaty and warmer. During biofeedback, by giving an auditory and/or visual signal individuals are able to better direct

Personal Change Essay
For every change within a society, personal changes with "self" must happen. These social changes are important to people while, people who don't
benefit from it think changes within the self isn't important for social changes. Personal change is a journey a person takes of discovering something
within themselves and acting upon a social change. That social change is society evolving to better ways. Jane Goodall talks about her experience in
a moment of truth with self being absent in a moment of need in her writing titled In the Forest of Gombe, where she spends a few weeks in the forest

This crisis had changed her "self" from within when getting away from the upsetting environment that she was in and to be with animals that felt no
pity for her. She found peace within herself and her surroundings. Most African Americans like Goodall found strength within that "self" and became a
part of a social change. Similarly, African Americans participated in the protests and at the NAACP movement seeking for equality between the blacks
and the whites. They had to go through social change or a tough experience in life that made them realize that enough was enough and to cope with
their grief was through social change. Gladwell speaks on the behalf of the protesters who found strength to fight back saying, "It spread to those cities
which had preexisting "movement centers"–a core of dedicated and trained activists ready to turn the "fever" into action" (Gladwell 139). Those
people who lived in small towns that no one heard of still were going through what the rest of the African Americans were going through. Each and
everyone of them had to go through the pain which lead to a personal change for them, becoming an activist who is ready to fight for a social change.
One of the stages of grief, is denial where you question everything that comes to mind. Grieving changes a person's inner self or the "self" Goodall
refers to that makes them want to be a part of a social change or activism. A personal change can include losing someone or being let

Reflection About Technology
Technology, and its underlying aspects affect all of us as we go through the continuum of time. In essence, technology has always been with us and
will always will be. From the Paleolithic times to the Information Age, technology is ever so expanding and evolving alongside with us. Although, as
technology has progressed, we are now currently as a crossroad in our day and age, where the use of technology and science has divided us from the
histories of the past to the progression of the future. This distinction is created as a result of cultural and social norms clashing with the level of
technology that is present today. Technology has not only advanced due to scientific explorations and inquires, but at the current stage, we are ever so
seeing positive effects, but also at the cost of social and ethical dilemmas. First, we have to look at our history in order to see the future, and then
contrast and compare the negatives and positives of our current technology to emphasize the connection between the past and present. Technology is
always present, and ever so changing, and we can only support scientific explorations into technology as it will help us develop our culture, society, and
ultimately the survival of mankind just like our advancements in the past. To look into the future, we must first look into the our past. Throughout the
existence of our species, Homo Sapiens, we have created, forged, and developed technologies to enhance our species' survival. From the

Salt water refers to water that contains dissolved salts, known as saline water or seawater, water from oceans or seas. It is a home to varieties of
aquatic animals, for example, fishes and snails. Some of these animals find it difficult to live in fresh water. If salt water animals go to live in fresh
water they can not adapt the environment led to die to them. This essay aims to discuss the importance of salt water and the sub– types namely ocean,

Coral reefs are home to a variety of tropical or reef fish, such as the parrotfish, angelfish, damselfish and butterfly fish, and over 4,000 species of fish
inhabit coral reefs. The fish species that inhabit coral reefs are able to coexist in such high numbers because any free living space is rapidly inhabited
by the first type fish larvae that occupy it. These fish then inhabit the space for the rest of their life and the species that inhabit the free space is random.
Due to their vast biodiversity, many governments world–wide take measures to protect their coral reefs e.g. in Australia, the Great Barrier Reef is
protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.

Thus, primary productivity on a coral reef is very high and producers in coral reef communities include the symbiotic zooxanthellae, coralline algae,

The threats to the world's coral reefs are:
Coral reefs are in crisis, dying at an alarming rate worldwide with and an estimated 25% of coral reefs have already disappeared and an estimated
two–thirds of all coral reefs are at risk today.

Cinco De Mayo Essay
Cinco de Mayo means the fifth of May. It is not an independence day for Mexico like most unknowledgeable people think. Mexican Independence
Day is celebrated on the 15th of September. Mexico declared independence from Spain on the 24th of August 1821. Cinco de Mayo is not an American
holiday either. Mexico and the United States savor this holiday because it is the day where Mexican peasants/ commoners defeated the French and
Mexican traitor army that double them in size in Puebla, Mexico one hundred miles away from Mexico city on the 5th of May, 1862.
The French had landed in Mexico along with Spanish and English troops five months earlier to collect unpaid debts. In 1855Benito Juarez (minister of

Napoleon also brought in a new Hapsburg prince who he thought would help him rule the Mexican Empire. His name was Maximilian and his wife's

The French army invaded Mexico with the finest and most modern day armory and ammunition. They also had a newly constituted foreign legion. The
French, at the time feared no one.
The French then left the port of Vera Cruz to attack Mexico City from the west. The French thought that the Mexicans would give up should their
capitol fall to the enemy as the European countries traditionally did. Under the command of Texas born General Zaragosa, and under Calvary
command of Colonel Porfirio Diaz, later to be Mexico's president and dictator, they awaited the French.
The French wore bright and stylish colors, opposed to the Mexicans. General Zaragosa ordered colonel Diaz to take his Calvary, the best in the world at
that time, out to the French flanks. The French in response sent their Calvary to chase them. As a consequence to the French they were butchered, and
the remaining infantrymen tried one last time to charge the Mexicans in unfavorable terrain and stampeding cattle and lost. The Mexican's were
victorious and Diaz's superb horsemen chased the remaining French off.

  • 6. Research Paper On Tattoos Essay Questions: Test III Answer 1: Many people choose to get tattoos for multiple reasons and while these individuals view it on a personal level, sociologist understand there are trends and outside influences involved when it comes to "getting inked". According to Kang and Jones, individuals get tattoos as it allows them to define who they are, gain a sense of belonging, and identify with their own personal struggles (42). As teenagers and young adults go out into the world they often have a desire to control their own life and make their own choices. They may wish to express themselves in a permanent, artistic way, that gives them a sense of freedom. For others tattooing connects them with a group they feel attached to. For example, neo–primitives typically cover their whole bodies in artistic tattoos and consider it a way of connecting with the past and yourself spiritually (45). On a more common level, individuals will get a tattoo of a sports team they played on, or a symbol that belongs to their culture or religion. Their tattoos will remind them of who they are and what truly matters to them. Lastly, some choose to get tattoos because they've overcome a deep personal battle. Hurricane Generator Research Paper Preparing for A Hurricane with A Hurricane Generator When a hurricane is pounding your area with high winds and pouring rain, it is a little too late to consider what will happen if the power goes out. Sometimes, even a small store can knock out power miles inland of where it hits for weeks at a time. Do you think you will have meats that are still good and cold drinks at the end of that time? Hurricanes mean that people are willing to wait hours for a bag of ice to be delivered so that they can have sandwich meat that stays chilled and edible. Instead of waiting on those things and dealing with no power for a week or more, why not do yourself a favor and prepare for a hurricane with a hurricane generator? We describe an experimental computer program which can generate sentences automatically. To do so, models are first created based on contexts of interest. The training or modeling of the context consists basically of the search, coding and saving of the occurrence of contiguous word histories corresponding to the sentences and paragraphs of the training corpus. We create coded blocks of word histories. The words in the histories are coded by way of whole numbers. In figure 2, we give an idea of how we code the histories in the training corpus. The first word that appears in the first training corpus (recall that we can work incrementally with various corpus) is assigned the number 1, then, the next different word is assigned the number 2, and so on. ROTATING–FIELD ALTERNATORS The rotating –field alternator has a stationary armature winding and a rotating–field winding as shown in figure 3–1, view B The advantage of having a stationary armature winding is that the generated voltage can be connected directly to the load. A rotating armature requires slip rings and brushes to conduct the current from the armature to the load. The armature, brushes, and slip rings are difficult to insulate, and arc–overs and short circuits can result at high voltages. For this reason, high–voltage alternators are usually of the rotating–field type. Since the voltage applied to the rotating field is low voltage dc, the problem of high voltage arc–over at the slip rings does not exist. The stationary armature, or stator, of this type of alternator holds the windings that are cut by the rotating magnetic field. The voltage generated in the armature as a result of this cutting action is the ac power that will be applied to the load. 3–3 The stators of all rotating–field alternators are about the same. The stator consists of a laminated iron core with the armature windings embedded in this core as shown in figure 3–2. The core is secured to the stator frame. Figure 3–2.–Stationary armature windings. Q2. What is the part of an alternator in which the output voltage is generated? Q3. What are the two basic types of alternators? Q4. • 11. Surrealism Essay Surrealism Surrealism was one of the most influential artistic movements of the 20th Century. AndrГ© Breton consolidated Surrealism as a movement in the early 1920s, trying to achieve the "total liberation of the mind and of all that resembles it[1]" through innovative and varied ideas. Surrealism deeply influenced the world in the era between the two world wars and played a big role in the diffusion and adoption of psychology worldwide. Surrealism faded after World War II, but its revolutionary genius has influenced every artistic movement ever since. It is hard to define and give shape to Surrealism. Surrealism and abstract art have similar origins, "but they diverge on their interpretation of what those origins mean to the...show more content... Nonetheless, one cannot truly comprehend Surrealism without delving further into the Surrealist Movement itself. AndrГ© Breton ran the Surrealist Movement with impressive discipline and rigidity, making an interesting contrast between what the Surrealists preached and the management style of its leader. An interesting story, for example, tells how Salvador DalГ, one of the most prominent members of the Surrealist movement, attended a New York costume party dressed up as Charles Lindbergh's son, who had been recently kidnapped and murdered. New York's society did not take the statement well and eventually made DalГapologize for his behavior. Breton, however, almost dismissed him from Movement because he claimed that "no one should excuse himself for a Surrealist act[6]." This anecdote demonstrates the seriousness of Breton and his Movement towards its final objective: revolution and the slashing of society's conventions in the interest of a subconscious reality. At the beginning, the Surrealist Movement had political ties to the Communist party and was determined to make a revolution. With time, however, the group dropped its direct ties to communism and concentrated in spreading their own doctrine. The Surrealist Movement Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It refers to the use of electronic, medical devices to give more auditory, verbal, and visual information back to the body about how it is working. For example, during biofeedback when a person tries to relax his muscles, he can hear a sound telling the degree of relaxation. Or if a person is to slow his pulse, he can hear or see his pulses more easily than by just feeling the pulse. By hearing the pulse, it is easier to try to manipulate it with his conscious control. This crisis had changed her "self" from within when getting away from the upsetting environment that she was in and to be with animals that felt no pity for her. She found peace within herself and her surroundings. Most African Americans like Goodall found strength within that "self" and became a part of a social change. Similarly, African Americans participated in the protests and at the NAACP movement seeking for equality between the blacks and the whites. They had to go through social change or a tough experience in life that made them realize that enough was enough and to cope with their grief was through social change. Gladwell speaks on the behalf of the protesters who found strength to fight back saying, "It spread to those cities which had preexisting "movement centers"–a core of dedicated and trained activists ready to turn the "fever" into action" (Gladwell 139). Those people who lived in small towns that no one heard of still were going through what the rest of the African Americans were going through. Each and everyone of them had to go through the pain which lead to a personal change for them, becoming an activist who is ready to fight for a social change. One of the stages of grief, is denial where you question everything that comes to mind. • 15. Reflection About Technology Technology, and its underlying aspects affect all of us as we go through the continuum of time. In essence, technology has always been with us and will always will be. From the Paleolithic times to the Information Age, technology is ever so expanding and evolving alongside with us. Although, as technology has progressed, we are now currently as a crossroad in our day and age, where the use of technology and science has divided us from the histories of the past to the progression of the future. This distinction is created as a result of cultural and social norms clashing with the level of technology that is present today. Technology has not only advanced due to scientific explorations and inquires, but at the current stage, we are ever so seeing positive effects, but also at the cost of social and ethical dilemmas. First, we have to look at our history in order to see the future, and then contrast and compare the negatives and positives of our current technology to emphasize the connection between the past and present. Technology is always present, and ever so changing, and we can only support scientific explorations into technology as it will help us develop our culture, society, and ultimately the survival of mankind just like our advancements in the past. To look into the future, we must first look into the our past. Coral reefs are home to a variety of tropical or reef fish, such as the parrotfish, angelfish, damselfish and butterfly fish, and over 4,000 species of fish inhabit coral reefs. The fish species that inhabit coral reefs are able to coexist in such high numbers because any free living space is rapidly inhabited by the first type fish larvae that occupy it. These fish then inhabit the space for the rest of their life and the species that inhabit the free space is random. Due to their vast biodiversity, many governments world–wide take measures to protect their coral reefs e.g. in Australia, the Great Barrier Reef is protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. Fig 2: Some of the biodiversity of a coral reef Major plants and animals found on Coral Reefs. Thus, primary productivity on a coral reef is very high and producers in coral reef communities include the symbiotic zooxanthellae, coralline algae, and various seaweeds, especially small types called turf algae, although scientists disagree about the importance of these particular organisms.
