If I had more knowledge and experience, I could have managed these projects and the people in my team more effectively. During this process I
learned a lot about myself and that I need to develop my writing and reading skills, as I struggled to put facts into organised writing because of my
technical background. Now I make use of Mind Maps which help me with my personal development writing. "Mind maps are a method of storing,
organising and prioritising information (usually on paper) using Key Words and Key Images, each of which will trigger specific memories and new
thoughts and ideas". (Buzan, 2006: 12) 1 A person can comprehend a vast amount of knowledge, only going through difficult times he will start to
understand himself and this will be the beginning of his learning. (Sonen Kierkegaard) 1.4 My Recent Career Even though I went through a difficult
and very challenging time in my career, I still managed to develop my managerial skills in the organisation. I'm always interested in seeing
possibilities beyond what is currently known. By having a less emotional approach to work–related issues, I made good progress by focusing on the
challenges in my work environment. This has allowed me to communicate clearly and effectively and to achieve the business requirements. Innovative
and creative thinking has made me aware of new possibilities and more effective ways of doing things

Personal Development Essay
Many people work very hard in their life but they do not seem to be able to achieve something worthwhile (Personal Goal Setting, 2013). Successful
people on the other hand, know what they want and create plans to help them achieve these goals. They will establish a step by step plan, and will
continue to follow that plan until their goal is achieved. These people tend to be proactive rather than be reactive. Personal planning is really important
because it helps you not only to achieve your goals but to tell you how you can achieve them. Without a personal plan, it will be hard to attain any
objectives you want to complete. Whether it is a short–term goal or a long–term goal, there must be a strategy on how to reach it. Having goals at

Or you may want to have a positive monthly cash flow of $500 dollars to be put in the savings account, so then you will need to plan on how you
should lower your expenses to reach the monthly cash flow you want.
Goal setting is therefore really important in our everyday personal life. However in my case, I have difficulty managing my time for schoolwork and
personal finances.
For schoolwork, I always finish my schoolwork in the last minute or study right before quizzes or tests. A reason for this may be due to I never
planned a schedule for how and when will I study for a test or for a project. I usually forget about having a test or is just lazy to start studying for it.
This is why when I start studying the night before the test or exam, I have a hard time trying to figure what should I study first and what I should
study last. Then, a lot of time is wasted on deciding how I should start studying. I usually tend to wait for things such as exams and schoolwork to
appear before addressing them.
In order to be better at personal planning and become more successful, a specific strategy must be implemented relating to goal–setting and time
management. Studying for exams require a lot of time and hard work to achieve good grades. The first task to do if you want to be successful at
school is to set a goal about getting good grades. Without this goal,

SELF AWARENESS AND CONTINUOUS SELF DEVELOPMENT WORD COUNT: 1098 words This part will discuss self
–awareness and
continuous self–development through analyzing a number of prior researches, then come up with the link of them to support my role as a manager in
the future. Self–awareness Self–awareness is a terminology that has been widely discussed in not only psychological but also business and
managerial perspectives. There are a number of authors trying to propose different definitions of it. In very earlier research, the theory developed by
Wicklund (1975, 1978, 1979) defines self–awareness mostly as one's ability to self–observe. That person will base on certain standard or new
information to judge his own behavior (as cited in...show more content...
The higher level of self–awareness an individual has, the more effective he has in work performance. Church's finding in 1997 is also consistent with
that research on managerial self–awareness. He reports that higher levels of managerial self–awareness are positively related to greater levels of
individual effectiveness as rated by supervisors. Similarly, following Goleman (1995)'s research, self–awareness inadequacy can damage one person's
relationships and career (as cited in Whetten & Cameron, 2011). However, there are cases people can refuse self–awareness. According to Maslow
(1962), people avoid acquiring new knowledge about themselves because of the uncertain and uncomfortable feelings they can receive (as cited in
Whetten & Cameron, 2011). Whetten and Cameron (2011) believe dis–closure is the key for people to overcome that panic. By discussing one's own
aspects with others, people can reduce the ambiguity of problems. For instance, through exchanging results of self–analysis toolkits in Developing Self
seminars, people can be more aware of their own strengths and weaknesses as well as receive feedbacks from others. Their Johari Window of what I
know and what others know can be more extended. Continuous self–development Self–development is also appeared in many works, especially in a
context of an organization. Self–development is defined by Knowles (1975, p. 18, cited in Ellinger, 2004) as "a process in which individuals takes the

Self Development Project
SELF DEVELOPMENT PROJECT Part 1 One of the most important things regarding my future career was to learn, what really was of interest to
me and sooner the better. When I put interest, effort, and passion into a job, success and respect of all others will go hand in hand. About three years
ago, when I was still in the on–campus program of Master in Civil Engineering in the Czech Republic, I entered the global real estate consultancy
firm of Knight Frank Newmark as a property manager's assistant. Due to the lack of the capacity and of employees, I was soon given a big project to
manage by myself. I felt like a spring chicken or a kid thrown in the deep water to learn how to swim. It was necessary to change my work load into a

It is also very useful to be an extrovert because almost everything in this business (as in all businesses) is about the ability to easily build good
relationships. Part 2 I took seventeen assessments from the Prentice Hall self–assessment library. And most of the results did not surprise me and I
strongly agreed with them. Some of the features of my basic personality are talkative, social, assertive, and extroverted. Nothing is black or white. I
am calm, enthusiastic and sometimes emotional. I also have a tendency to have my say on issues. I am good–natured, cooperative and trusting.
Speaking about my conscientiousness I am responsible and achievement oriented with pursuing fewer goals in a purposeful way. Unfortunately, I am
not always very open to new experience. I am not conventional and I feel comfortable in a familiar environment. These characteristics show my
occasional rigidity. My Jungian 16–type personality is ENTJ, which means that I am extroverted, intuitive, thinker and judger. It is true that I like
things which make sense to me so I can analyze those things which seem to me realistic and logical. I am a schedule person, who likes to organize
and run things. I scored way above of 120 points in Type–A test. It absolutely true, that I have always tried to achieve more and more in less and less
time, having a strong need to get a lot done in a short time

Introduction
Employers are increasingly aware of the importance of investing in their staff and often put structures in place to provide opportunities for the
development of employees. Nonetheless, managers also need to take personal responsibility for renewing and updating their skills and knowledge
throughout their working lives.
Personal development is a lifelong process of nurturing, shaping and improving skills and knowledge to ensure maximum effectiveness and ongoing
employability.
Personal development does not necessarily imply upward movement; rather, it is about enabling individuals to improve their performance and reach
their full potential at each stage of their career....show more content...

The Self Essay
The Self Every situation that an individual is exposed to throughout life, helps mold our "self." As humans we have the ability to see ourselves from
the outside, and all through life we try to see what others see and our "self" revolves around the generalized other. We observe how others perceive us
and we make conclusions depending on our observations. How we act around others depends on the image we feel they have towards us.
Charles Horton Cooley, a symbolic interactionist, concluded that our sense of "self" develops from interactions with others. Cooley described this
process as the...show more content...
On the other hand if you see yourself as an individual who can communicate without a problem and you see that you can keep others interested in a
given conversations, your reaction is more positive. Through this looking– glass self we develop a "self" concept. Depending on the observations we
make concerning the reactions of others we develop feelings and ideas about ourselves. The reflection we see in the mirror is either negative or
positive depending on the feedback we get back from those around us. Misjudgments of the reactions of others become part of our "self" concept also
the misinterpretations of how others think of us. Self concepts begins in childhood but it continues to develop throughout life. As we observe how
other people react to us, we modify our "self."
The "self" is never a finished project, and it continues to change as our life takes different turns. Our "self" reacts to the environment that we are in. As
the "self" expands we put together the different reactions making us a unique individual. Every individual has a different way of thinking and therefore
they make their own choices about certain situations. Going through different life changes, means the "self" is expected to change to accommodate the
life stage we find our selves in. The way we perceived things when

Development of Self Essay
Development of Self
The development of self starts at a very young age. When a preschooler is asked how are they different from other children, they usually look at their
self concept. Self concept is their identity, of their set of beliefs about what they are like as individuals. Most preschoolers give inaccurate statements
about their self concept. They usually overestimate their skills and knowledge. Preschool–age children also begin to develop a view of self that reflects
their particular culture considers the self. An example of this would be to look at the different views as self between the Western culture and the Asian
culture. Western cultures believe that an individual should seek attention of others by standing out...show more content...
Children's views of self become more differentiated. As they get older, children discover that they may be good at some things and not so good at
others. Children's self– concepts become divided into personal and academic spheres. During middle childhood children begin social comparison.
Social comparison is the desire to evaluate one's own behavior, abilities, expertise, and opinions by comparing them to those of others. During middle
childhood children deal with the crisis industry versus inferiority stage. The stage is characterized by a focus on efforts to attain competence in
meeting the challenges presented by parents, peers, school, and other complexities of the modern world. This is a time of their life where the child
develops a self esteem. Self–esteem in an individual's overall and specific positive and negative self–evaluation. Self concept reflects beliefs and
cognitions about the self, self–esteem is more emotionally oriented. The self–esteem of most children tends to increase during middle childhood with a
brief decline around age of 12. Some evidence shows that members of minority groups have lower self–esteem then those of the majority group.
Children build a sense of self efficacy during their elementary years. Self efficacy refers to learned expectations that one is capable of carrying out a
behavior or producing a desired outcome in a particular situation.

Personal Reflection On Human Development
Human Development has been such an interesting class this semester because of the captivating topics that have allowed me to thoroughly enjoy
what I am reading and taking notes on. Halfway through this semester I decided to change my major from Nursing to Public Relations because I
decided that I liked surrounding myself with people, but I don't want to be responsible for saving one's life. Although I have never been assigned a
Personal Reflection Paper for a class; I think this assignment has a lot of benefits not only for the teacher, but also for the student. This course can be
examined and applied to anyone's life because it examines how a human develops and what causes them to develop in a certain direction. One of the
numerous topics that we discussed this semester that I can apply to my life is social development of children and in particular, self–esteem.
Self–esteem is the way we feel about ourselves. At one point of the week we could have high self–esteem and feel super confident, but we could also
have low self–esteem and feel that we are not as valuable as others. My father made a very bad impact on my life; causing me to feel so unworthy
and showing me how not to treat my future kids. He would always talk so negatively towards my sister and me. My parents got divorced when I was
in third grade and I was totally blind–sided. I knew that my parents had a bad relationship because they would fight constantly, but I never thought it
would end in divorce. I feel

Improving Self Belief And Self Development Essay
Training is generally said to be a tried and tested method of shaping a person's lack of accomplishment into a purposeful and desired end .According to
Megginson (2012),"The coach encourages people to reach their full potential by encouraging self–belief and self–development. Self–belief gives people
the drive to achieve their potential. Self–development gives them the means."From this definition it can be seen that even though a coach may not have
perfect knowledge of the subject in hand, he encourages the coachee to deeper thought and reflection by enabling the skills of the coachee towards
appropriate questioning and listening .Training is usually provided by a professional co–worker or a colleague where job related skills, goal setting
behavior skills are ascribed to .
Lack of training leads to low productivity and demonization in workers. Workers are not able to deal with workplace performances and hence end up
as average performers. Hence in order that workers get on hand skills training is a must.
Lack of training leads to :
a.bad goal setting exercise results: Goal setting is one of the most important aspects of personal development .every employee including the
organization needs to know what the ultimate goal of a coaching program should be. The goals setting technique should be realistic in that it should
enable all employees from different functional domains to enroll into the coaching program with the aim being skill and career development. The

Introduction This self–development paper has not only given me the chance to reflect on my own strengths and weaknesses but it has also provided
me with the opportunity to learn about what people close to me, such as my family, friends, and coaches, think about me and when they have seen me
at my best. Before receiving my stories, I thought that my greatest strengths were hard work, determination, and ambition. I think one of the reasons I
thought this was because these skills allowed me to find success in academic and goal driven settings. Although I did get responses acknowledging
these skills, I got an overwhelming amount of responses regarding my skills related to emotional intelligence. To me this shows that strengths related to
relationships such as patience, kindness, and inclusion are valued even more than the ability to just simply complete a task. Through this project I
learned that the process of accomplishing a task is valued more than just the end result of having the task completed.
Initial Perspective and Background
I have taken the Strengths Finder test two times in the last two years, once before my senior year in high school and again before attending the Carlson
School of Management. Both times I received very similar results that included the strengths: achiever, focus, discipline, and learner, just in different
orders. The only difference in the strengths I got was during the first test I had strategic as on of my strength and the second time I took

Personal Reflection On Self-Development
Has it ever occurred to you, the emotions of making a mistake in your life that you may sooner or later regret? These thoughts clouding your mind
and barefaced you as a person. Well, my personal reflection will focus on self–development in relation to personal growth, past and present
experiences, my future journey and life lessons. My reflection will follow my journey as a person through thoughts and actions from significant
aspects of my 17 years. Evincing on my regretful decisions and goals in life. The motivation behind a personal reflection is to acknowledge the
reader with brief and intimate access into the thoughts and emotions of the author, exploring any aspect of their life. These thoughts and actions build
us up as a better person, these negatives don't define us, but help in our personal progression. I know life has its ups and downs. I have lived a
significant part of life deluded, which has changed the course of my journey. Doubtlessly I have been taught countless life lessons.
The poem I have chosen to express my view in life is 'Learning from mistakes', by Peter Hall. A free–verse poetic writing about admitting to your
mistakes, encountering these faults, improving upon these experiences and challenges in a positive way and creating a personal learning opportunity.
Peter is a songwriter, musician and poet with early work being influenced by the Australian 'Bush poetry' and 'melting pot' of Australian and British
cultures and writers. Later, moving away from

Developing Self
Introduction: This assignment engaged me with the continuous self development process to my personal and professional knowledge. The
assignment can be divided into two main parts, firstly is about analysing self and organisation and secondly is self analysis tool kits to support and
find myself about the personality how to reflex myself in the future to continue my progress as a leading manager. Learning is a continuous process
and it is supported by David hind (1994) that learning model comprises of three cyclic stages; they are experience, reflection and learning. Similarly
Self development also refers to improve the person in particular qualities and making the person to perform better in its career and as a person (Pedler,

Alike Levinson exchange that criticism and praise is equally important for continuous improvement not as a personal attack. Hence competitive
managers should handle the emotional situation in an equilibrium state to build their relationship in organisation. As a manager it is very essential to
find out how to read and appreciate others which it belongs to personality and perception (Robert P.Vecchi 2006). Correspondingly Mark Cook(
1993) states that personality is something which allows to find the person behaviour in a given situation that can be measured using different
elements, for example questionnaire/inventory, which is commonly used to find the characteristics of a person which automatically leads to predict
the person behaviour as viewed by(Rollinson 2007) Perception is a sophisticated intellectual process which differs for every individual that affect the
behaviour in organisation. Therefore as a value of perception, manager in an organisation he/she should not only aware of people through senses but
also evaluating the reasons for their action which emerge to change in behaviour (Rollinson 2007). As we seen before learning is a cyclic process said
by David hind (1994) somewhat equivalently explained by David Buchanan and Andrrzej Huczynski (2004) that the concept of organisational learning
is significant because it has a direct command over organisation such as to grow, to

SELF DEVELOPMENT.
1.0 Introduction.
Peter Drucker (1955) postulates that "Development is always self–development. Nothing could be more absurd than for the enterprise to assume
responsibility for the development of a man. The responsibility rests with the individual, his abilities, his efforts".
In essence, in the eyes of a manager, the quote from Drucker boils down simply to "What self– development do I need?" What necessary knowledge
and skills do I need, and what standards do I need to set for myself? Successful managers do not take success for granted; they are mindful of the
importance of continual change and the importance of searching for new ways and ideas to accomplish tasks. Self development advances and even

вќ– Megginson and Pedler (1992) promulgated that self–development was the process whereby learners took responsibility for choosing the what,
when and how of learning. Self –development involves a degree of freedom of choice as you can choose what not to learn.
вќ– Brookfield (1995) posits that self–development illustrates how adults determine their own needs for learning and taking command and direction of
that said learning.
4.0 Techniques and Resources.
There are different techniques and resources that can be used to help managers become fully aware of what they want to learn and how they want to
learn. (Pedler et al 1999)
Some of these resources are as follows:
вќ– Reflecting on experiences – learning from what was experienced and learning from mistakes that may have occurred.
With respect to reflecting, we must refer to Kolb's Learning Cycle 1984 as seen below.

We can also look at Honey and Mumford's 1982 Learning Styles model as well. [pic]
Source: http://www.learningandteaching.info/learning/experience.htm вќ– Feedback– self development can also stem from a certain degree of
feedback. This is so because once an individual is provided with certain feedback steps can be taken to fix any problems that may be highlighted. As a
result, the person may seek to gain more knowledge or even development in certain

Self–development through reflection is a key issue of education and learning (Kennison, 2012), where you learn through experience (Tashiro,
Shimpuku, Naruse and Matsutani, 2013), learn to self–evaluate (Duffy, 2013), identify gaps in knowledge and detect where further training or study is
required to improve practice (Olarerin, 2013). Ultimately reflection is thought to be constant learning from practice, thus refining knowledge and
experiences and putting them into practice (Naidoo, 2013).
Within my reflection examples (Appendix 1) I recognised where my knowledge and experience was lacking, through self–evaluation. For instance
when completing an electrocardiogram (ECG). I learned through my extra reading, how completing an ECG incorrectly could cause the patient to
require un–necessary treatment (Houghton, 2014). Through my extra study I was able to learn where exactly where the electrodes are positioned on
the body for an accurate EGC tracing to be produced (Crawford and Doherty, 2012; University of Nottingham, 2015). I used this knowledge throughout
my placement and I am now confident in conducting ECG's in my future practice. In achieving self–development in this example I linked my learning
directly to my practice (Ross, 2014), where I developed a fundamental skill and expanded my knowledge for my continued development in my nursing
career and practice (Aronson, 2011).
Nursing practice
Nursing practice is a key issue within reflective practice. It supports

If I had more knowledge and experience, I could have managed these projects and the people in my team more effectively. During this process I learned a lot about myself and that I need to develop my writing and reading skills, as I struggled to put facts into organised writing because of my technical background. Now I make use of Mind Maps which help me with my personal development writing. "Mind maps are a method of storing, organising and prioritising information (usually on paper) using Key Words and Key Images, each of which will trigger specific memories and new thoughts and ideas". (Buzan, 2006: 12) 1 A person can comprehend a vast amount of knowledge, only going through difficult times he will start to understand himself and this will be the beginning of his learning. (Sonen Kierkegaard) 1.4 My Recent Career Even though I went through a difficult and very challenging time in my career, I still managed to develop my managerial skills in the organisation. I'm always interested in seeing possibilities beyond what is currently known. By having a less emotional approach to work–related issues, I made good progress by focusing on the challenges in my work environment. This has allowed me to communicate clearly and effectively and to achieve the business requirements. Innovative and creative thinking has made me aware of new possibilities and more effective ways of doing things Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Personal Development Essay Many people work very hard in their life but they do not seem to be able to achieve something worthwhile (Personal Goal Setting, 2013). Successful people on the other hand, know what they want and create plans to help them achieve these goals. They will establish a step by step plan, and will continue to follow that plan until their goal is achieved. These people tend to be proactive rather than be reactive. Personal planning is really important because it helps you not only to achieve your goals but to tell you how you can achieve them. Without a personal plan, it will be hard to attain any objectives you want to complete. Whether it is a short–term goal or a long–term goal, there must be a strategy on how to reach it. Having goals at ...show more content... Or you may want to have a positive monthly cash flow of $500 dollars to be put in the savings account, so then you will need to plan on how you should lower your expenses to reach the monthly cash flow you want. Goal setting is therefore really important in our everyday personal life. However in my case, I have difficulty managing my time for schoolwork and personal finances. For schoolwork, I always finish my schoolwork in the last minute or study right before quizzes or tests. A reason for this may be due to I never planned a schedule for how and when will I study for a test or for a project. I usually forget about having a test or is just lazy to start studying for it. This is why when I start studying the night before the test or exam, I have a hard time trying to figure what should I study first and what I should study last. Then, a lot of time is wasted on deciding how I should start studying. I usually tend to wait for things such as exams and schoolwork to appear before addressing them. In order to be better at personal planning and become more successful, a specific strategy must be implemented relating to goal–setting and time management. Studying for exams require a lot of time and hard work to achieve good grades. The first task to do if you want to be successful at school is to set a goal about getting good grades. Without this goal, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. SELF AWARENESS AND CONTINUOUS SELF DEVELOPMENT WORD COUNT: 1098 words This part will discuss self –awareness and continuous self–development through analyzing a number of prior researches, then come up with the link of them to support my role as a manager in the future. Self–awareness Self–awareness is a terminology that has been widely discussed in not only psychological but also business and managerial perspectives. There are a number of authors trying to propose different definitions of it. In very earlier research, the theory developed by Wicklund (1975, 1978, 1979) defines self–awareness mostly as one's ability to self–observe. That person will base on certain standard or new information to judge his own behavior (as cited in...show more content... The higher level of self–awareness an individual has, the more effective he has in work performance. Church's finding in 1997 is also consistent with that research on managerial self–awareness. He reports that higher levels of managerial self–awareness are positively related to greater levels of individual effectiveness as rated by supervisors. Similarly, following Goleman (1995)'s research, self–awareness inadequacy can damage one person's relationships and career (as cited in Whetten & Cameron, 2011). However, there are cases people can refuse self–awareness. According to Maslow (1962), people avoid acquiring new knowledge about themselves because of the uncertain and uncomfortable feelings they can receive (as cited in Whetten & Cameron, 2011). Whetten and Cameron (2011) believe dis–closure is the key for people to overcome that panic. By discussing one's own aspects with others, people can reduce the ambiguity of problems. For instance, through exchanging results of self–analysis toolkits in Developing Self seminars, people can be more aware of their own strengths and weaknesses as well as receive feedbacks from others. Their Johari Window of what I know and what others know can be more extended. Continuous self–development Self–development is also appeared in many works, especially in a context of an organization. Self–development is defined by Knowles (1975, p. 18, cited in Ellinger, 2004) as "a process in which individuals takes the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Self Development Project SELF DEVELOPMENT PROJECT Part 1 One of the most important things regarding my future career was to learn, what really was of interest to me and sooner the better. When I put interest, effort, and passion into a job, success and respect of all others will go hand in hand. About three years ago, when I was still in the on–campus program of Master in Civil Engineering in the Czech Republic, I entered the global real estate consultancy firm of Knight Frank Newmark as a property manager's assistant. Due to the lack of the capacity and of employees, I was soon given a big project to manage by myself. I felt like a spring chicken or a kid thrown in the deep water to learn how to swim. It was necessary to change my work load into a full...show more content... It is also very useful to be an extrovert because almost everything in this business (as in all businesses) is about the ability to easily build good relationships. Part 2 I took seventeen assessments from the Prentice Hall self–assessment library. And most of the results did not surprise me and I strongly agreed with them. Some of the features of my basic personality are talkative, social, assertive, and extroverted. Nothing is black or white. I am calm, enthusiastic and sometimes emotional. I also have a tendency to have my say on issues. I am good–natured, cooperative and trusting. Speaking about my conscientiousness I am responsible and achievement oriented with pursuing fewer goals in a purposeful way. Unfortunately, I am not always very open to new experience. I am not conventional and I feel comfortable in a familiar environment. These characteristics show my occasional rigidity. My Jungian 16–type personality is ENTJ, which means that I am extroverted, intuitive, thinker and judger. It is true that I like things which make sense to me so I can analyze those things which seem to me realistic and logical. I am a schedule person, who likes to organize and run things. I scored way above of 120 points in Type–A test. It absolutely true, that I have always tried to achieve more and more in less and less time, having a strong need to get a lot done in a short time Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Continuous Self Development Personal Development Planning Checklist 092 Introduction Employers are increasingly aware of the importance of investing in their staff and often put structures in place to provide opportunities for the development of employees. Nonetheless, managers also need to take personal responsibility for renewing and updating their skills and knowledge throughout their working lives. Personal development is a lifelong process of nurturing, shaping and improving skills and knowledge to ensure maximum effectiveness and ongoing employability. • 7. The Self Essay The Self Every situation that an individual is exposed to throughout life, helps mold our "self." As humans we have the ability to see ourselves from the outside, and all through life we try to see what others see and our "self" revolves around the generalized other. We observe how others perceive us and we make conclusions depending on our observations. How we act around others depends on the image we feel they have towards us. Charles Horton Cooley, a symbolic interactionist, concluded that our sense of "self" develops from interactions with others. Cooley described this process as the...show more content... On the other hand if you see yourself as an individual who can communicate without a problem and you see that you can keep others interested in a given conversations, your reaction is more positive. Through this looking– glass self we develop a "self" concept. Depending on the observations we make concerning the reactions of others we develop feelings and ideas about ourselves. The reflection we see in the mirror is either negative or positive depending on the feedback we get back from those around us. Misjudgments of the reactions of others become part of our "self" concept also the misinterpretations of how others think of us. Self concepts begins in childhood but it continues to develop throughout life. As we observe how other people react to us, we modify our "self." The "self" is never a finished project, and it continues to change as our life takes different turns. Our "self" reacts to the environment that we are in. As the "self" expands we put together the different reactions making us a unique individual. Every individual has a different way of thinking and therefore they make their own choices about certain situations. Going through different life changes, means the "self" is expected to change to accommodate the life stage we find our selves in. The way we perceived things when Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Development of Self Essay Development of Self The development of self starts at a very young age. When a preschooler is asked how are they different from other children, they usually look at their self concept. Self concept is their identity, of their set of beliefs about what they are like as individuals. Most preschoolers give inaccurate statements about their self concept. They usually overestimate their skills and knowledge. Preschool–age children also begin to develop a view of self that reflects their particular culture considers the self. An example of this would be to look at the different views as self between the Western culture and the Asian culture. Western cultures believe that an individual should seek attention of others by standing out...show more content... Children's views of self become more differentiated. As they get older, children discover that they may be good at some things and not so good at others. Children's self– concepts become divided into personal and academic spheres. During middle childhood children begin social comparison. Social comparison is the desire to evaluate one's own behavior, abilities, expertise, and opinions by comparing them to those of others. During middle childhood children deal with the crisis industry versus inferiority stage. The stage is characterized by a focus on efforts to attain competence in meeting the challenges presented by parents, peers, school, and other complexities of the modern world. This is a time of their life where the child develops a self esteem. Self–esteem in an individual's overall and specific positive and negative self–evaluation. Self concept reflects beliefs and cognitions about the self, self–esteem is more emotionally oriented. The self–esteem of most children tends to increase during middle childhood with a brief decline around age of 12. Some evidence shows that members of minority groups have lower self–esteem then those of the majority group. Children build a sense of self efficacy during their elementary years. Self efficacy refers to learned expectations that one is capable of carrying out a behavior or producing a desired outcome in a particular situation. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Personal Reflection On Human Development Human Development has been such an interesting class this semester because of the captivating topics that have allowed me to thoroughly enjoy what I am reading and taking notes on. Halfway through this semester I decided to change my major from Nursing to Public Relations because I decided that I liked surrounding myself with people, but I don't want to be responsible for saving one's life. Although I have never been assigned a Personal Reflection Paper for a class; I think this assignment has a lot of benefits not only for the teacher, but also for the student. This course can be examined and applied to anyone's life because it examines how a human develops and what causes them to develop in a certain direction. One of the numerous topics that we discussed this semester that I can apply to my life is social development of children and in particular, self–esteem. Self–esteem is the way we feel about ourselves. At one point of the week we could have high self–esteem and feel super confident, but we could also have low self–esteem and feel that we are not as valuable as others. My father made a very bad impact on my life; causing me to feel so unworthy and showing me how not to treat my future kids. He would always talk so negatively towards my sister and me. My parents got divorced when I was in third grade and I was totally blind–sided. I knew that my parents had a bad relationship because they would fight constantly, but I never thought it would end in divorce. I feel Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Improving Self Belief And Self Development Essay Training is generally said to be a tried and tested method of shaping a person's lack of accomplishment into a purposeful and desired end .According to Megginson (2012),"The coach encourages people to reach their full potential by encouraging self–belief and self–development. Self–belief gives people the drive to achieve their potential. Self–development gives them the means."From this definition it can be seen that even though a coach may not have perfect knowledge of the subject in hand, he encourages the coachee to deeper thought and reflection by enabling the skills of the coachee towards appropriate questioning and listening .Training is usually provided by a professional co–worker or a colleague where job related skills, goal setting behavior skills are ascribed to . Lack of training leads to low productivity and demonization in workers. Workers are not able to deal with workplace performances and hence end up as average performers. Hence in order that workers get on hand skills training is a must. Lack of training leads to : a.bad goal setting exercise results: Goal setting is one of the most important aspects of personal development .every employee including the organization needs to know what the ultimate goal of a coaching program should be. • 11. Introduction This self–development paper has not only given me the chance to reflect on my own strengths and weaknesses but it has also provided me with the opportunity to learn about what people close to me, such as my family, friends, and coaches, think about me and when they have seen me at my best. Before receiving my stories, I thought that my greatest strengths were hard work, determination, and ambition. I think one of the reasons I thought this was because these skills allowed me to find success in academic and goal driven settings. Although I did get responses acknowledging these skills, I got an overwhelming amount of responses regarding my skills related to emotional intelligence. To me this shows that strengths related to relationships such as patience, kindness, and inclusion are valued even more than the ability to just simply complete a task. Through this project I learned that the process of accomplishing a task is valued more than just the end result of having the task completed. Initial Perspective and Background I have taken the Strengths Finder test two times in the last two years, once before my senior year in high school and again before attending the Carlson School of Management. Both times I received very similar results that included the strengths: achiever, focus, discipline, and learner, just in different orders. The only difference in the strengths I got was during the first test I had strategic as on of my strength and the second time I took Get more content on HelpWriting.net

These thoughts clouding your mind and barefaced you as a person. Well, my personal reflection will focus on self–development in relation to personal growth, past and present experiences, my future journey and life lessons. My reflection will follow my journey as a person through thoughts and actions from significant aspects of my 17 years. Evincing on my regretful decisions and goals in life. The motivation behind a personal reflection is to acknowledge the reader with brief and intimate access into the thoughts and emotions of the author, exploring any aspect of their life. These thoughts and actions build us up as a better person, these negatives don't define us, but help in our personal progression. I know life has its ups and downs. I have lived a significant part of life deluded, which has changed the course of my journey. Doubtlessly I have been taught countless life lessons. The poem I have chosen to express my view in life is 'Learning from mistakes', by Peter Hall. A free–verse poetic writing about admitting to your mistakes, encountering these faults, improving upon these experiences and challenges in a positive way and creating a personal learning opportunity. Peter is a songwriter, musician and poet with early work being influenced by the Australian 'Bush poetry' and 'melting pot' of Australian and British cultures and writers. The assignment can be divided into two main parts, firstly is about analysing self and organisation and secondly is self analysis tool kits to support and find myself about the personality how to reflex myself in the future to continue my progress as a leading manager. Learning is a continuous process and it is supported by David hind (1994) that learning model comprises of three cyclic stages; they are experience, reflection and learning. Hence competitive managers should handle the emotional situation in an equilibrium state to build their relationship in organisation. As a manager it is very essential to find out how to read and appreciate others which it belongs to personality and perception (Robert P.Vecchi 2006). Correspondingly Mark Cook( 1993) states that personality is something which allows to find the person behaviour in a given situation that can be measured using different elements, for example questionnaire/inventory, which is commonly used to find the characteristics of a person which automatically leads to predict the person behaviour as viewed by(Rollinson 2007) Perception is a sophisticated intellectual process which differs for every individual that affect the behaviour in organisation. Therefore as a value of perception, manager in an organisation he/she should not only aware of people through senses but also evaluating the reasons for their action which emerge to change in behaviour (Rollinson 2007). • 14. Self Development SELF DEVELOPMENT. 1.0 Introduction. Peter Drucker (1955) postulates that "Development is always self–development. Nothing could be more absurd than for the enterprise to assume responsibility for the development of a man. The responsibility rests with the individual, his abilities, his efforts". In essence, in the eyes of a manager, the quote from Drucker boils down simply to "What self– development do I need?" What necessary knowledge and skills do I need, and what standards do I need to set for myself? Successful managers do not take success for granted; they are mindful of the importance of continual change and the importance of searching for new ways and ideas to accomplish tasks. There are different techniques and resources that can be used to help managers become fully aware of what they want to learn and how they want to learn. • 16. Self–development through reflection is a key issue of education and learning (Kennison, 2012), where you learn through experience (Tashiro, Shimpuku, Naruse and Matsutani, 2013), learn to self–evaluate (Duffy, 2013), identify gaps in knowledge and detect where further training or study is required to improve practice (Olarerin, 2013). Ultimately reflection is thought to be constant learning from practice, thus refining knowledge and experiences and putting them into practice (Naidoo, 2013). Within my reflection examples (Appendix 1) I recognised where my knowledge and experience was lacking, through self–evaluation. For instance when completing an electrocardiogram (ECG). I learned through my extra reading, how completing an ECG incorrectly could cause the patient to require un–necessary treatment (Houghton, 2014). Through my extra study I was able to learn where exactly where the electrodes are positioned on the body for an accurate EGC tracing to be produced (Crawford and Doherty, 2012; University of Nottingham, 2015). I used this knowledge throughout my placement and I am now confident in conducting ECG's in my future practice. In achieving self–development in this example I linked my learning directly to my practice (Ross, 2014), where I developed a fundamental skill and expanded my knowledge for my continued development in my nursing career and practice (Aronson, 2011). Nursing practice Nursing practice is a key issue within reflective practice. It supports Get more content on HelpWriting.net
