Graduate Studies Personal Statement Essay
During my undergraduate years, I have been fortunate enough to gain a significant amount of research experience through the Psychological Science
and Math department. After completing statistical, research, and psychology courses offered, I was left wanting to acquire more knowledge in the field
of psychology that graduate studies will offer. My undergraduate years focused on the overarching topic of psychology, in contrast with graduate
studies where you are encouraged to focus on a specific topic. The knowledge I have acquired in psychology is captivating yet there is much more to
learn thus pursuing graduate studies will aid in developing my knowledge on psychology. Graduate studies will help me gain knowledge specifically
about psychological measurements and help further my understanding of research and statistical methodology within the field of psychology in my
graduate studies.

Simply knowing that there is a field dedicated to understanding and helping people is the main reason I decided I wanted to pursue a bachelor's
degree in psychology. The courses I've taken at the University of Mary Washington have been the catalyst to wanting to pursue a graduate degree in
psychology. Upon the completion of any course, I was left wanting to know more in depth about the topics. Although Psychology has been my
passion for a while, I also shared a deep passion for math. After completing my first statistical course in psychology, I knew I wanted to pursue
graduate studies that has combination of math and psychology. I found that a graduate study that focused on the statistical and methodology aspect of
psychology existed, I immediately knew it is what I wanted to study in graduate school. My faculty advisor and I developed our own

Personal Statement For Pursue School Counseling
I desire to pursue school counseling as my career to become an effective and successful leader in this profession. Why? I have always held a passion for
touching the lives of the youth in a great and positive manner. A licensed school counselor entails helping students with academic achievement,
personal/social growth and career development, ensuring students become the industrious, well–balanced adults of tomorrow. while, operating as a
professional school counselor involves me obtaining the appropriate knowledge and skills that will support me with providing exceptional service for
clients. I believe that I can obtain this intelligence here at Capella University. I comprehend that as a professional school counselor I would be expected

The experiences that I shared with those students presented me with great satisfaction. This influenced my decision to apply for a graduate degree in
school counseling. Although, at this point in time I do not hold any experiences in school counseling I have researched ways to gain that experience.
Volunteering at both public schools to shadow licensed school counselors and independent counseling centers will provide me the necessary
experiences to gain hands on knowledge for the field. The ability to relate interpersonally to individuals from different cultural backgrounds is
extremely important for a counselor. Being knowledgeable of a client's culture, identity, ethnicity, race and gender play a major part in the counseling
process. Possessing cultural competent is key to engaging a diverse clientele. Culture norms and rules change the way an individual interact. I
understand the importance of identifying the barriers and bias in interacting with individual from different cultures. Through my previous years of
education and current work experiences I obtained valuable interpersonal skills. These skills assist with communicating effectively with a diverse
group of individuals. Those skills involved effective listening, problem–solving, decision–making, assertiveness, and verbal and non–verbal
communication. In detail, while working as teacher, I was afforded the opportunity of advising interns on making practical

When I chose Psychology as my major, I was certain that I will be applying for graduate school in the future. The only problem was figuring out
what psychology field I wanted to go into. While not knowing, I was still working to create a well–rounded resume by seeking experiences and
develop new skills. That helped me a lot when I decided to go into Occupational Therapy as my graduate program. I felt like I was prepared mentally
and that I had a good list of experiences under my belt. Nevertheless, the process of applying to graduate school is scary because of the fear of rejection.

I would love to pick your brain and/or Eric's about what you wish you had read or knew before you started graduate school. The only comparativist

Public Administration, as a field, had always captivated me right from my undergraduate days. I believe my curiosity for this field comes from my
family. Both my father and my uncle were politicians. During my early days, I used to go to my father's office where I had a great chance to observe
different kinds of people with various jobs and interests. This was the first time I learned how mutual interests bring people together. When I
understood how public relations work naturally, it forced me strongly to study and comprehend the complex theory of politics. After finishing high

A core principle I live my life by is that I must continue to redefine themselves throughout my lifespan while maintaining true to the core values
that have made me the man I am today. I take on novel adventures to expand my life's experiences to become more whole as an individual. This is
why I am applying for a Masters in Counseling Psychology. I graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Human Development and
Family Studies. Its core focus was on brain development throughout individual's lifespans and how that applies to social functioning and family
dynamics. I wanted my college education to focus on the human experience for I never had any interest in, say, physics or accounting for example.
As interesting as it was, its focus was all theoretical; very little in the way of practical application. I knew at the time that I would need to pursue
further education in order to apply my degree professionally. But it was after college that I needed to move out of the classroom and take on my

Through my dad's influence, I began trading stocks when I was eleven, and I started an Investments Club at my high school junior year. Through these

Wisconsin School of Business at Madison. I am eager to deepen my knowledge of financial planning at one of the best schools in the nation.
Throughout high school, I have taken Introduction to Business, Investing, Marketing, and Accounting. From these classes and my experience as the

Hi Dr. Down, I hope you are well. I have been working on my graduate school statement of purpose over the last few days, and I was hoping you
might be willing to look over it. I am contacting you because your comments on my personal statement over the summer were very helpful, and I
know that as Director of Graduate Studies you read these types of statements frequently. I am not sure if I am on the right track and so this very rough
draft may not be what they are looking for as a statement of purpose. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you do not have the time. Thank You,

Graduate Degree: Personal Statement
Graduate Degree: Personal Statement Any major transition in life brings with it new challenges. It is only natural for new circumstances to be
accompanied by a variety of completely unfamiliar experiences, settings and lessons. Certainly this was true of my leap from high–school to college.
Taking the next step in my education was something into which I entered with both excitement and apprehension as the course of these years could
have a substantial influence in shaping my future. This mix of emotions would prove to be quite justified upon my admission to college.
Simultaneously one of the most engaging and most rewarding periods of my life, my first few years at this university would present me with trial
and inspiration in equal parts. I desire admission into a graduate degree program as a way of deepening both my knowledge and passion in my
chosen field. Now, as I prepare to take the next step in my education, I am armed with the same readiness and excitement. As I seek an institution that
is conducive to achieving my ongoing goals of academic growth and professional success, I look forward to bringing my talents and qualifications to
my new graduate degree program. My research leads me to believe that the next important leap which I take will be elevated by admission to this
institution, whose scholastic programs, campus community and qualified faculty appear to be a perfect match for my ambition. In light of my

High School Graduation Essay
Graduation
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of
the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and
effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the
beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays
of sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of...show more content...
Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library
an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let
myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and
she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror
with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't
set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I
walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all
ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal
concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium
doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

Why I Want to Attend Graduate School Essay
I would like to Attend Capella University's Masters Program in School Counseling. I have always known that I wanted to work with children ever
since I can remember. Working with children is something that I have always enjoyed doing even if it was tutoring, or just being around them. The
reason I want to receive my Master's Degree in School Counseling is to become a Guidance Counselor. Being a guidance counselor you can make a
difference in a child's life, whether it's talking to them about their grades, peer pressure, or any of the things that children of all ages go through in
school and in life. The moment I knew I wanted to be a guidance counselor was at the age of 14, and attending middle school. I can remember my

The program that I was assigned to work with was the After School Program. At first I was just an assistant for the teachers, but then I became one
of the lead teachers. I helped with homework, reading, planning activities, creating the curriculum and a lot more. I stayed with the center
throughout the entire school year. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with certain subjects such as reading and math. When
they received their first report card the grades were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to show
me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the
internship I still stayed at the center because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the director felt I
was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to lack of funding the center closed down and the students no
longer had a place to go. I still keep in contact with some of the parents and students just to see how they are doing and they all say the same thing, I
helped them stay on the right path. Every time I see one of them I know that I made a difference. I am now employed with the South Carolina

Personal Essay On Social Work
What does it mean to become a social worker? Why was I committing two years of my life to school after renouncing further education? I asked
myself this after I applied, waited anxiously for my acceptance letter and scrambled to figure out the finances after I was accepted. I could not have
guessed that the first day of the Micro Human Behavior Social Environment (SWG 510) would capture my attention and thrust me into the professional
world of Social Work. As I learned more about what it meant to become a social worker, I found myself aligning to the National Association of Social
Workers (NASW) Ethical Standards as reviewed through Foundation Course I's first chapters.
It is not about the money. It is about compassion. My confliction of committing to social work started with the intersection of my identity as an Asian
American. I am half–Korean, I grew up in a community that values hard work, dedication and furthering societal standing through one's career path.
Like Sofia Ahmad, my identity as an Asian American did not "look upon social work as a prize occupation" (LeCroy, 2012, pg 77). I was ashamed
to tell my friends in the community that I started work in a DES group home and was not working for a Fortune 500 business or entering direct
medical practice. Getting into graduate school was my way of admitting to myself that I love working in behavioral health, and much like Sofia,
making a difference in a person's life regardless of the significance continues to

My High school Graduation Day Like many students, I waited for the day of my high school graduation ever since I started high school. I waited
for that day to come with patient. I also wanted to see my parent's excitement, and the proud moments they have waited for. I didn't believe that
graduation will be very emotional. The emotional moments started when I put my cap and gown on. Then the memories started to come, first
thing that came to my mind was how did I survive school with my ADD. I have always struggled with school due to my ADD. I was passing my
classes with average grades even though I was doing my best, and working hard on my assignments. At the same time, I was feeling nervous
thinking about walking down to the stage and receiving my diploma. The more I was thinking about my big day, the more overwhelming I became
as I was going to start a whole new step in life. I was very proud of myself on that day. I was very pleased that I celebrated that day with my family and
friends, I was proud of myself because I challenged myself to pass high School, and made my family proud. Then, as I walked to the stage to receive
my diploma, my heart was beating fast, and my face was turning red. When the principal called out my name, I walked with pride, shook his hand,
and got my diploma. During these moments, I heard a loud cheering from family and friends. Then I walked down the stairs, and held my diploma
high toward the side my family were sitting, and their cheering got louder, and I became happier. After I went back to my seat, I was looking at my
diploma and started thinking how I successfully folded one chapter in my life, and how to start opening a whole new one by going to college. At that
time, I was thinking about how excited college could be, meeting new people, more mature, their thinking will be different. I also thought college
will be my new path way to real life. Moreover, I looked around at my friends as the ceremony was getting close to the end. I was getting emotional
as I had to say good bye to most of my friends, it was very hard for me to think about not seeing some of them again because they were planning to
move and attend out of state college. The ceremony ended with throwing

There I was, poised with the first draft of my masters thesis, ready to jack it under the rear wheels of my car so that I could vent my anger and
frustration. Never had I felt this kind of undiluted rage in dealing with a piece of writing. As far as I was concerned, the first draft was complete
and therefore the entire piece was finished; however, my thesis advisor didn't quite agree with me. A less deranged friend of mine talked me out of
repeatedly backing over my thesis, and convinced me that it didn't really matter if I did leave tire marks on it because I had multiple drafts on my

So, when I came to the end of the first draft of my thesis, I was convinced I had produced a solid piece of writing and that I was finally, and
thankfully, done with it. At the point at which I was ready to jack the thesis under my rear tires, I knew I had worked hard on this piece, harder
than I had ever worked on a piece of writing in my life. It was certainly the longest piece of writing that I had ever produced; yet I had erroneously
equated length with good quality. I had done no revising to this piece, nor had I achieved any distance from it in order set it aside to come back to it
at a later time.
In the past, I had not written drafts of my papers; I had been told since high school that I was a reasonably decent writer. I was a comparative literature
major in college, and again, I had earned solid grades on my writing assignments, and I had worked hard, but I had not slaved over draft after draft. I
tended to write well under pressure (or so I thought), but I left no time for revisions. Usually, I was finishing up the paper within hours of the class in
which it was due. Up until working with Peter, I had thought that this process worked fine for me; in fact I thought that it had worked better than fine.
However, Peter Heinegg changed all of that for me.
Peter agreed with me that I was done with the thesis, but he thought I was merely done with the FIRST draft of the piece. He told me my work was
good but there was

School Psychology Personal Statement
"It takes a village to raise a child." I never quite understood that saying when I was growing up, but my experiences teaching and working in school
settings have showed me how true it really is. Obtaining a degree in school psychology will allow me to give the support that students, families and
educators need to ensure that every student will thrive.
I have always envisioned myself working with children and their families, but my experiences in college and beyond are what have shaped my
enthusiasm for school psychology. At the University of Cincinnati I focused my education on families and children. Although my overall GPA falls
just below the mean for your program, as my letters of recommendation indicate, I believe that my major GPA (3.89) and my experiences outside the
classroom, give a better indication of my preparedness for graduate school. As a teaching assistant for a Childhood and Adolescence Development
course for three semesters, I enjoyed the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the crucial part development plays in all aspects of a
child's life, as well as the many factors that shape a child's development.

I Am A Graduate Student Essay
As the fall semester is quickly winding down, I often catch myself reflecting on the fact that I will be completing my second semester as a graduate
student. It certainly still is a surreal feeling for myself. I cannot even fathom the fact that I will be able to say that I have gotten through two semesters of
graduate school. The reason I bring this up is because when I first started the graduate program, I would often wonder whether I belonged in graduate
school. There was a sense of self–doubt. Therefore, I had trouble believing that I was worthy of being in this program. And, as ignorant as it may
sound, I attributed my acceptance into the program to luck and fate. I believe one major reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that I am the first
one in my family to attend college, so I felt incapable of achieving something that had never been done in my family. Furthermore, self–reflection
allows for me to reflect back on my collegiate journey and reminisce on my own personal obstacles and challenges that I have dealt with. It also
allows for me to be a more effective mentor. I see myself as a mentor who is empathic and understanding of those students who are also
first–generation college students who may be experiencing similar issues. Not necessarily only being able to be an effective mentor when working with
first generations students, rather learning new perspectives and understanding different cultural norms that can further assist me as I continue to develop

  • 1. Graduate Studies Personal Statement Essay During my undergraduate years, I have been fortunate enough to gain a significant amount of research experience through the Psychological Science and Math department. After completing statistical, research, and psychology courses offered, I was left wanting to acquire more knowledge in the field of psychology that graduate studies will offer. My undergraduate years focused on the overarching topic of psychology, in contrast with graduate studies where you are encouraged to focus on a specific topic. The knowledge I have acquired in psychology is captivating yet there is much more to learn thus pursuing graduate studies will aid in developing my knowledge on psychology. Simply knowing that there is a field dedicated to understanding and helping people is the main reason I decided I wanted to pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology. The courses I've taken at the University of Mary Washington have been the catalyst to wanting to pursue a graduate degree in psychology. Upon the completion of any course, I was left wanting to know more in depth about the topics. Although Psychology has been my passion for a while, I also shared a deep passion for math. After completing my first statistical course in psychology, I knew I wanted to pursue graduate studies that has combination of math and psychology. I found that a graduate study that focused on the statistical and methodology aspect of psychology existed, I immediately knew it is what I wanted to study in graduate school. While not knowing, I was still working to create a well–rounded resume by seeking experiences and develop new skills. That helped me a lot when I decided to go into Occupational Therapy as my graduate program. I felt like I was prepared mentally and that I had a good list of experiences under my belt. I read part of Eric's dissertation on trace (which was cool), but I have never been formally introduced. Graduate School Application Essay Sample A core principle I live my life by is that I must continue to redefine themselves throughout my lifespan while maintaining true to the core values that have made me the man I am today. I take on novel adventures to expand my life's experiences to become more whole as an individual. This is why I am applying for a Masters in Counseling Psychology. I graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Its core focus was on brain development throughout individual's lifespans and how that applies to social functioning and family dynamics. I wanted my college education to focus on the human experience for I never had any interest in, say, physics or accounting for example. As interesting as it was, its focus was all theoretical; very little in the way of practical application. • 9. Graduate Degree: Personal Statement Graduate Degree: Personal Statement Any major transition in life brings with it new challenges. It is only natural for new circumstances to be accompanied by a variety of completely unfamiliar experiences, settings and lessons. Certainly this was true of my leap from high–school to college. Taking the next step in my education was something into which I entered with both excitement and apprehension as the course of these years could have a substantial influence in shaping my future. This mix of emotions would prove to be quite justified upon my admission to college. Simultaneously one of the most engaging and most rewarding periods of my life, my first few years at this university would present me with trial and inspiration in equal parts. I desire admission into a graduate degree program as a way of deepening both my knowledge and passion in my chosen field. Now, as I prepare to take the next step in my education, I am armed with the same readiness and excitement. As I seek an institution that is conducive to achieving my ongoing goals of academic growth and professional success, I look forward to bringing my talents and qualifications to my new graduate degree program. • 10. High School Graduation Essay Graduation Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Why I Want to Attend Graduate School Essay I would like to Attend Capella University's Masters Program in School Counseling. I have always known that I wanted to work with children ever since I can remember. Working with children is something that I have always enjoyed doing even if it was tutoring, or just being around them. The reason I want to receive my Master's Degree in School Counseling is to become a Guidance Counselor. Being a guidance counselor you can make a difference in a child's life, whether it's talking to them about their grades, peer pressure, or any of the things that children of all ages go through in school and in life. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with certain subjects such as reading and math. When they received their first report card the grades were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to show me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the internship I still stayed at the center because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the director felt I was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to lack of funding the center closed down and the students no longer had a place to go. I still keep in contact with some of the parents and students just to see how they are doing and they all say the same thing, I helped them stay on the right path. • 12. Personal Essay On Social Work What does it mean to become a social worker? Why was I committing two years of my life to school after renouncing further education? I asked myself this after I applied, waited anxiously for my acceptance letter and scrambled to figure out the finances after I was accepted. I could not have guessed that the first day of the Micro Human Behavior Social Environment (SWG 510) would capture my attention and thrust me into the professional world of Social Work. As I learned more about what it meant to become a social worker, I found myself aligning to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Ethical Standards as reviewed through Foundation Course I's first chapters. It is not about the money. It is about compassion. My confliction of committing to social work started with the intersection of my identity as an Asian American. I am half–Korean, I grew up in a community that values hard work, dedication and furthering societal standing through one's career path. Like Sofia Ahmad, my identity as an Asian American did not "look upon social work as a prize occupation" (LeCroy, 2012, pg 77). I was ashamed to tell my friends in the community that I started work in a DES group home and was not working for a Fortune 500 business or entering direct medical practice. Getting into graduate school was my way of admitting to myself that I love working in behavioral health, and much like Sofia, making a difference in a person's life regardless of the significance continues to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It brought into perspective my natural sense of organisation from an early age and a certain business awareness managing a pocket money budget with an ever changing wish list. Studying this subject through to A Level has given me the opportunity to further develop business and management skills leaving me eager to apply them to the commercial world. • 14. My High school Graduation Day Like many students, I waited for the day of my high school graduation ever since I started high school. I waited for that day to come with patient. I also wanted to see my parent's excitement, and the proud moments they have waited for. I didn't believe that graduation will be very emotional. The emotional moments started when I put my cap and gown on. Then the memories started to come, first thing that came to my mind was how did I survive school with my ADD. I have always struggled with school due to my ADD. I was passing my classes with average grades even though I was doing my best, and working hard on my assignments. At the same time, I was feeling nervous thinking about walking down to the stage and receiving my diploma. The more I was thinking about my big day, the more overwhelming I became as I was going to start a whole new step in life. I was very proud of myself on that day. I was very pleased that I celebrated that day with my family and friends, I was proud of myself because I challenged myself to pass high School, and made my family proud. Then, as I walked to the stage to receive my diploma, my heart was beating fast, and my face was turning red. When the principal called out my name, I walked with pride, shook his hand, and got my diploma. During these moments, I heard a loud cheering from family and friends. Then I walked down the stairs, and held my diploma high toward the side my family were sitting, and their cheering got louder, and I became happier. After I went back to my seat, I was looking at my diploma and started thinking how I successfully folded one chapter in my life, and how to start opening a whole new one by going to college. At that time, I was thinking about how excited college could be, meeting new people, more mature, their thinking will be different. I also thought college will be my new path way to real life. Moreover, I looked around at my friends as the ceremony was getting close to the end. I was getting emotional as I had to say good bye to most of my friends, it was very hard for me to think about not seeing some of them again because they were planning to move and attend out of state college. • 15. There I was, poised with the first draft of my masters thesis, ready to jack it under the rear wheels of my car so that I could vent my anger and frustration. Never had I felt this kind of undiluted rage in dealing with a piece of writing. As far as I was concerned, the first draft was complete and therefore the entire piece was finished; however, my thesis advisor didn't quite agree with me. A less deranged friend of mine talked me out of repeatedly backing over my thesis, and convinced me that it didn't really matter if I did leave tire marks on it because I had multiple drafts on my disk. But still, I knew that it would just feel so good to leave some tire tread on the paper. I had not written a thesis as an undergrad, and I was...show more content... So, when I came to the end of the first draft of my thesis, I was convinced I had produced a solid piece of writing and that I was finally, and thankfully, done with it. At the point at which I was ready to jack the thesis under my rear tires, I knew I had worked hard on this piece, harder than I had ever worked on a piece of writing in my life. It was certainly the longest piece of writing that I had ever produced; yet I had erroneously equated length with good quality. I had done no revising to this piece, nor had I achieved any distance from it in order set it aside to come back to it at a later time. In the past, I had not written drafts of my papers; I had been told since high school that I was a reasonably decent writer. I was a comparative literature major in college, and again, I had earned solid grades on my writing assignments, and I had worked hard, but I had not slaved over draft after draft. I tended to write well under pressure (or so I thought), but I left no time for revisions. Usually, I was finishing up the paper within hours of the class in which it was due. Up until working with Peter, I had thought that this process worked fine for me; in fact I thought that it had worked better than fine. However, Peter Heinegg changed all of that for me. Peter agreed with me that I was done with the thesis, but he thought I was merely done with the FIRST draft of the piece. He told me my work was good but there was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. School Psychology Personal Statement "It takes a village to raise a child." I never quite understood that saying when I was growing up, but my experiences teaching and working in school settings have showed me how true it really is. Obtaining a degree in school psychology will allow me to give the support that students, families and educators need to ensure that every student will thrive. I have always envisioned myself working with children and their families, but my experiences in college and beyond are what have shaped my enthusiasm for school psychology. At the University of Cincinnati I focused my education on families and children. Although my overall GPA falls just below the mean for your program, as my letters of recommendation indicate, I believe that my major GPA (3.89) and my experiences outside the classroom, give a better indication of my preparedness for graduate school. As a teaching assistant for a Childhood and Adolescence Development course for three semesters, I enjoyed the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the crucial part development plays in all aspects of a child's life, as well as the many factors that shape a child's development. • 18. I Am A Graduate Student Essay As the fall semester is quickly winding down, I often catch myself reflecting on the fact that I will be completing my second semester as a graduate student. It certainly still is a surreal feeling for myself. I cannot even fathom the fact that I will be able to say that I have gotten through two semesters of graduate school. The reason I bring this up is because when I first started the graduate program, I would often wonder whether I belonged in graduate school. There was a sense of self–doubt. Therefore, I had trouble believing that I was worthy of being in this program. And, as ignorant as it may sound, I attributed my acceptance into the program to luck and fate. I believe one major reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that I am the first one in my family to attend college, so I felt incapable of achieving something that had never been done in my family. Furthermore, self–reflection allows for me to reflect back on my collegiate journey and reminisce on my own personal obstacles and challenges that I have dealt with. It also allows for me to be a more effective mentor. I see myself as a mentor who is empathic and understanding of those students who are also first–generation college students who may be experiencing similar issues. Not necessarily only being able to be an effective mentor when working with first generations students, rather learning new perspectives and understanding different cultural norms that can further assist me as I continue to develop Get more content on HelpWriting.net
