YEARBOOK
Well, I can’t believe we are at the end of another season. Unfortunately this is my last year with
this fantasƟc football club.
Like the last few years, this year we have had some terrific firsts—the formaƟon of the Under 12
Girls side and the construcƟon of the new light towers at Bulleen Park. Many months of hard work
has gone into the formaƟon of the new girls team and hopefully they and the Youth Girls grow and
prosper along with all our established teams. The light towers have involved countless meeƟngs
with the Yarra Junior Football League, Manningham City Council and AFL Victoria. Many thanks to
all at these organisaƟons for their assistance in making this happen.
I would like to acknowledge all coaches, team managers and team staff who gave selflessly of their
Ɵme to teach and assist our kids this year. We must never forget that this Ɵme is given willingly
and voluntarily and I am very grateful for this.
To the ExecuƟve CommiƩee Michelle Lusk, Luke Loucas, David SƟcca and MaƩ AgroƟs, thank you
for your support and contribuƟon throughout the year. Special menƟon to Michelle Lusk for her
dedicaƟon in her role as Secretary and for puƫng up with me for the past three years. Without
her support and friendship my role would have been difficult. To the members of the CommiƩee,
thank you for undertaking your roles for without your dedicaƟon, this club would not have been
able to funcƟon and move forward.
Thank you to all the dedicated CommiƩee members and volunteers who have assisted at the many
funcƟons throughout the year such as RegistraƟon Day, Jumper PresentaƟon, Tackers Day, Auskick
RegistraƟon Day, match days, YJFL finals and more. CongratulaƟons to the winners of club awards
for 2013: Coach Of The Year—Andrew Browne, President’s Trophy—Sally Evely, Club Person Of
The Year—Connie Paolucci. I was honoured to be inducted as a Life Member at the PresentaƟon
Day and we also inducted Craig Davidson at the Colts Dinner held recently.
To Connie and her dedicated and hard working Canteen staff. Connie’s work in the Canteen and as
club Sponsorship Coordinator may be taken for granted but we must acknowledge the sound posi-
Ɵon that the club is in and this is due in no small part to her efforts in these areas.
CongratulaƟons to Anthony Dell’Orso on winning the YJFL Best & Fairest in Under 10 Gold, Nadi
Hamzovski on 3rd in the Under 14’s. Well done also to Lucas AgroƟs, Josh SƟcca, Jozeph Thatcher-
Brener, Jake SƟcca, Ben Wiggins, Laura Robertson, Elizabeth Jackson and Stephanie Charakas on
their top 10 polling—fantasƟc effort by all. Also a special menƟon to Andrew Kay from the Colts
for his 3rd place in the League B&F and for being named centre half forward in the Colts Team Of
The Year!
Thank you to all players and their families for your support of and parƟcipaƟon with this great club
of ours. Players have provided the club and spectators with some great football this year.
I would like to acknowledge the top aged Colts and Youth Girls who are reƟring this season. I wit-
nessed the raw emoƟon in parƟcular of the older Colts as their finals campaign ended which sig-
nalled also their last ever game of junior football and with our great club. I wish you all the very
best in life and thankyou for your service to the club over many years.

Thankyou to Mike Ceola and his dedicated band of volunteers for yet another great season of
Auskick.
I have loved each and every one of the twelve years that I have been associated with this club. I
am saddened that it has come to an end. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the incoming
commiƩee all the very best of luck for the seasons ahead.
Take the opportunity now to really enjoy every minute of your child’s involvement here at Bulleen
Templestowe. Remember that we are all here for the development of our kids and we should nev-
er stray from that. Believe me, before you know it, the journey will be over so please enjoy.
I wish all members and their families an enjoyable and safe off-season ahead. I trust everyone with
have a terrific Christmas and New Year. Good luck too all.

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Tackers Blue
What a great season of football.
It all started of on our first training session back in March where Nic Moore and Myself introduced ourselves
as coaches and calling out all the boys names with nametags forming two very compeƟƟve teams, Tackers
Gold and Tackers Blue.
Tackers Blue was combined from players who had previous tackers experience from the year before and
new players coming up from Auskick. With all the boys running into their training drills full of excitement it
was evident to look forward on a great season ahead.
Our focus for the season was to insure all the boys as individuals and as a team to enjoy and develop their
football skills, Kicking, Handball, first at the ball, shepherding, tackling, and as for game days we divided the
boys into three equal groups and each quarter have them rotaƟng from back midfield and forward part of
the ground so that all the boys played different posiƟons to gather experience.
It was all happening at Bulleen Park Tackers Day round robin it was a great experience for the boys as they
played three short games on the day and no coaches allowed on the ground, the boys bonded that liƩle bit
more as a team and spent most of the day together having so much fun.
A fantasƟc performance from the boys well done.
Each week we had two captains nominated on game day to take that extra bit of responsibility and lead the
team out. There were three club awards given out each week for those players who showed great courage
or displayed excellent skills on the day DimaƟna’s Bakers Delight, and Mcdonalds award.. Also an opposiƟon
medal award was given out to the best player on the day.
A big thank you goes out to team manager- Roger Shepherd, assistant Coach- David McClean and to all the
parents who helped out each week weather it was supporƟng the team or taking on duƟes.
Also would like to thank Nic Moore from Tackers Gold, as did an excellent job week-by-week seƫng out all
the training drills for the season.
Tackers Blue; Anthony Boussounis, Thomas Haikal, Christopher Stojnic, James Kirk, Jaydin Emini, Dean Papa-
dopoulos, Zachary Walsh, Jake Wignell, Evan Giovannucci, Aaron Galapi, Tom Shepherd, Michael WillmoƩ,
Hamish McClean, Daniel Whitby, Daniel Milione, Zac Milione, Lochlan Fry.
Well done to all the Boys who have done an excellent job all year and have come a long way, I am so proud
of you all as you were a great team to coach, you boys made us all proud and put on a great show each
week with all the sportsmanship and standard of football you played.
Madrit Emini - Coach

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Tackers Gold
It was back in mid-March that the Tackers Squad assembled for the start of preseason training.
A well balanced Tackers Gold team was formed, comprising a number of boys who had experienced Tackers
footy in 2012, a number who have made the step up from Auskick, and a number who were new to com-
peƟƟve Aussie Rules and the Bullants Club. The Tackers format provides a great introducƟon to compeƟƟve
football with some slightly modified rules. Our team was grouped together in the compeƟƟon with teams
from St Mary’s, Heidelberg, Ivanhoe, Banyule, Warrandyte and of course, our own Tackers Blue team.
The teams objecƟves were set from the start of the season: parƟcipaƟon and effort was expected from all
players; enjoyment of their football, both on match day and at training; development of individual skills;
and creaƟon of a supporƟve and posiƟve team spirit amongst the players (and parents) with respect to-
wards each other, opposiƟon teams, umpires and officials, and the club. At the end of the season we can
proudly reflect that all these objecƟves were met and exceeded.
Highlights for the season were many, commencing with the jumper presentaƟon evening prior to Round 1
when the boys first received their Bullants jumpers. AŌer four weeks of pre-season training, and one intra
club pracƟce match, The Tackers Gold Team were primed for their first game of the season, against Banyule
at Home. From the outset the boys displayed great determinaƟon and courage. They were prepared to back
their skill, have a bounce, and have a “crack” As the season progressed, the boys conƟnued to gell together
as a team. Each week the team was split into three groups, to allow regular rotaƟons each quarter through
the defence, midfield and forward lines. Whilst it meant that we didn’t always line up in our “strongest” po-
siƟon, it ensured that each and every boy had an opportunity to play in every posiƟon on the ground.
Each week the Thursday night training would focus on a parƟcular skill or area of the game. Whether it was
kicking or handball skills, being first to the ball, shepherding, or tackling, the boys ran out for the match with
an element of their game to work on. Another of the season highlights was the League Tackers Day, held at
Bulleen Park. The team played in 3 short games, in a carnival like atmosphere. And with no coaches allowed
on the ground during the matches, all the boys showed tremendous leadership, and put on some fantasƟc
football. During the season, each boy had the opportunity to lead the team, as Captain for the day. This
added incenƟve oŌen resulted in an extra special performance from the Captain(s) of the day. All players
received at least one of the post-match club awards (DimmaƟna’s, Bakers Delight or McDonalds). And a
number of players were fortunate to receive a medal from the opposing team in recogniƟon of an outstand-
ing game. Round 10 of the season saw the much awaited local showdown between our Tackers Gold and
Tackers Blue Teams. As we trained together each week bragging rights were at stake. Fiƫngly the scoreline
at the end of the game was all Ɵed up. As we moved into the later part of the season, we focussed on de-
veloping the boy’s game craŌ and strategies. The boys soon recognised the importance and the benefits of
playing to team rules - keeping to posiƟons, opening the game up, and the best parts of the ground to
aƩack or defend to. And each week, regardless of the result, the boys would give a rousing rendiƟon of the
club song as they walked off the ground together.
Many thanks to the those that made it all happen, Team Manager - Graeme Richings, Assistant Coach – Rog-
er Barbieri, and Field Umpire – Gavan Walsh, and to all the trainers, water carriers, Ɵme keepers and other
helpers. Most importantly, well done to all boys on a terrific season, - Daniel Dempsey (1), James Farrugia
(3), Daniel Walsh (5), Andrew Sinclair (6), Danny Moore (7), Stephen Mihalos (8), Ben Richings (9), Joel Rich-
ards (10), Andre Bastasin (12), Patrick Toscano (14), Riley Flowers (18), Adrian Perugini (20), Diesel Barbieri

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Under 10 Black
We started in blue division, and with many of our boys playing footy for the first Ɵme, this was extremely
challenging. In our first few games we were convincingly beat by opposiƟon teams whom had played to-
gether for a couple of years.
The boys never dropped their heads however and conƟnued to compete with great enthusiasm each week.
Training conƟnued to improve each week and with the boys starƟng to get used to the body contact and the
pressure of games, we started to see some dramaƟc improvement.
We had to wait unƟl round 8 for our first win of the season versus Beverley Hills at Bulleen Park. Captain for
this game was Peter Kalidonis and vice captain was Finn Didier. We had many great players this day, but
Jack B’s three goals were a highlight of the season.
This was a great reward for the boys whom had shown great persistence and posiƟvity despite a tough start
to the season. The delight on the boys faces aŌer this win was great to see. We sang the Bullants song with
enormous pride and enthusiasm in the rooms aŌer the game. This was a real turning point in the season – a
great reward for hard work, but more importantly gave the boys an enormous confidence boost.
We were super compeƟƟve in rounds 9 through to 12 and only missed out by small margins in each of these
games. In round 13 we had our second win for the season against Whitehorse Colts. Dean Mavritsakis was
captain for this game and Jamie Cortese vice captain. This was a great reward for these two boys who were
stars in our mid-field all year. We conƟnued the good form in rounds 14 and 15 and were beaten by only a
small margin in each of these games.
Overall the boys had a terrific season showing great improvement as the season went by. By the end of the
season we were ultra compeƟƟve and teaming together very well. There was a real spirit amongst the boys
in the last part of the season. Well done to all of the boys whom all made a strong contribuƟon at various
stages of the season.
A special menƟon to our mid field which mostly comprised Blake, Dean, Jamie, Patrick, Josh, Archie, and
Finn. These boys had an outstanding year of football. The boys in the back and forward line also put in some
really solid performances throughout the year.
Thank you to Anthony and Umberto for their team management duƟes – they did a great job. Thank you to
Ken Jones who was a terrific assistant coach and to Michael, Paul, and Darren who undertook the umpiring
duƟes. Baz and Peter were a great help at training. And to all of the other parents who helped during the
year this was much appreciated.

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Under 10 Gold
What a year!!!! How do you measure a successful year, is it dominaƟng the year with wins, smashing your
opposiƟon weekly or winning the grand final? I’ll go back to the start when we had 31 boy’s we made a
commitment to field two teams we all worked hard to get the numbers two field teams and we achieved
this. Never easy to split the teams but it is was a beƩer problem to have than to field one team. We endeav-
oured always to do the best thing by all the boy’s. All the boy’s had strong link’s to either team and would
have been welcomed in either team. I thank all the boy’s and parents for their understanding and paƟence
throughout the Ɵme it was never easy but we tried to suit all, a beƩer problem to have.
With teams set we set out to get our year under way aŌer a strong pre- season, it was menƟoned that we
will start off in green division. That didn’t happen and aŌer a few good pracƟces matchs the boys started off
the season in brown division. Not knowing what to expect and looking towards our first year of compleƟve
football with a ladder and scoring we were unsure how we would end up, as this was our first season play-
ing together, playing teams who have played together for some Ɵme. We conƟnued our game plan of ro-
taƟng & playing the boys in different posiƟons quarterly and things were looking up with the success of four
early wins. This was a good posiƟon to be in aŌer a few tuff years, Brown division was short lived we were
bound for gold.
Going into gold WOW! In our first year going into a game with confidence of winning was an early habit. Our
first game in gold we played a team yet to have a win and were introduced to gold quickly with an early lost.
AŌer the game we went away and found out early that if we were to be compeƟƟve in gold we had to
change our team set up, our style of play, we were required to move out of our comfort zone. This didn’t
deter the players, it made them train and play harder and stronger always willing and wanƟng to improve
their football and to prove that they were going to be compeƟƟve and belong in gold. This doesn’t happen
overnight its reflecƟve of hard work which the boys pracƟce each week at training and put into the game
weekly. Game day the boys had their rouƟne arrive early, sign in and report to warm up drills, the boys
would then be ready for team posiƟons, main goals for the day and game plan and come game Ɵme they
were ready to go with everyone knowing what to do. As the weeks went by we began to the play the boys
in more set posiƟon, with a set game plan and structure of how to play that posiƟon. This was never our
intenƟon at the start of the season as we were strong believers of rotaƟng them around quarterly .We
found that set posiƟons we could cover a few key points and teach the boys quarterly, gamely and over a
few weeks. The boys did play different posiƟons throughout the year and were always willing to suggest the
best posiƟon for them. We played the boys in the best posiƟon for the team and the best for them we
needed an even balance around the ground. Throughout the year we proved we belonged in gold and were
very compeƟƟve and this showed in how we played our football we always took pride how hard we played
and a never give up aƫtude the opposiƟon always knew when they had played Bulleen Templestowe. We
were in the top four fourteen out of fiŌeen weeks of the season falling short of half a game at the end to
make finals. Proud? I could not be any prouder to get to know the parents, partners and families of all the
boys especially of the ones that would roll up each week and be willing to help without any complaints al-
ways willing to lend a hand, a big Thank you.!!! To the regulars Michael, Anthony, Colin, Jonathon, Adam,
MaƩ, Danny and Steve a big thank you for all their help throughout the year, in showing the boys that it’s a
team effort on and off the field. Most of all I was proud to be the coach under 10 gold and get to know 21
boys and being involved in helping you develop your skills and watching you enjoy your footy, and most of
all for having fun !!!!!!! CongratulaƟons on Anthony Dellorso and Lucas AgroƟs on their invitaƟons to the
league best and fairest where Anthony won it. This was a reward for a great year for both boys.
As a team the boys achieved a lot throughout the year and I have highlighted a few key points. So was it a
successful year? It goes without any doubt the boys had a successful year and what’s more exciƟng? They
sƟll have plenty more to show and plenty more exciƟng football ahead of them.
Thank you for a great and successful year and all the best for next year.

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Under 11 Green
It only seems like yesterday that on a hot Sunday morning in February the under 11’s commenced pre sea-
son training for 2013. We kicked off the season with two close losses and then put together a series of victo-
ries that seƩled us in the top four at the half way mark of the season. With each game I could sense a spirit
of ‘team’ building within the playing group. We were playing a contested brand of football where we were
prepared to run for each other and link up with quick ball movement. From seeing the team learn, pracƟce
and then implement the game plan this was one of the highlights for me as a coach. In the second half of
the year we conƟnued to develop and at one stage were threatening for a top two finish, however we expe-
rienced some absences to key players towards the end of the season that dinted the playing group’s confi-
dence. We went through a rough patch and coming into the final round we found ourselves in a posiƟon
where we had to win against the other team vying for the 4th
posiƟon to proceed into the finals. The play-
er’s came out against Kew Comets and put together their best game for the year. With their backs against
the wall every player found that inner belief and put together 4 quarters of team football resulƟng in a 10
goal win. AŌer being rewarded with a finals berth we were knocked out in the first round against ulƟmate
grand finalists St Marys to finish 4th
for the season.
I told the players at the start of the season if we learn to play team football and to play for each other we
would play finals. They did and so they did and for that I am very proud of every one of them. If success at
Under 11’s is measured by enjoyment, team development and personal growth then 2013 has been an out-
standing success and I hope we see every player return next year so we can conƟnue down this path.
I would like to pay tribute to our first year players Zavier Vesnaver , MaƩ Amoddio and Francesco Mer-
cadante who played mulƟple roles in their iniƟal season but all showed they have a big future in footy. Our
defence was rock solid throughout the year and was regularly on top of the opposiƟon’s forwards. So well
done to Ante Filopovic, Darcy Pierce, Marcus Williams, Mark Theodore, James Varasso, Samir Hamzovski,
Shane Twomey, James Gavralas and Ellena Papaisanis who were the core of this strong defensive unit.
Our midfield was full of players who were all eager to improve and get the most out of their developmental
opportuniƟes. The core midfield group included Josh SƟcca, Lachie McPadden, Jeremy Argiros, Andrew An-
driopoulos, Peter KaƟforis and Joey Thatcher – Brener.
At different Ɵmes of the season each of our forwards stood up and when they gelled, opposiƟon coaches
would regularly tell me how difficult they were to match up on. There is a lot of pressure on forwards to
deliver results but this group is learning that those results should be team and not individual focused. Due
to this we saw conƟnued development this year from Josh Presta, Nathan Giavannucci, Toby Hansen and
Oscar Clarkson.
Also congratulaƟons to Joey Thatcher-Brener and Josh SƟcca on finishing 4th
and 6th
respecƟvely in the YJFL
best and fairest.
Thanks to Bill for your mentoring this season, I really appreciated the input at both training and on game
day. Your passion is obvious and having been with this group for a couple of seasons I can see the players all
respect you. Likewise I would like to pay special homage to Terry for all his work as team manager. You are
the oil in the machine that keeps everything Ɵcking along – thanks mate. To Leigh, Dave and Peter thanks
for your ongoing match day support and assistance with training drills when required – again much appreci-
ated. Finally thanks to Nesh for his team BBQ’s, to Marina & Peter for sponsoring the coach’s medals, to the
parents who came to the club’s two social events and made them both fun nights and to the band of par-
ents who volunteered for the various match day roles.
See you all in 2013 – Go Bullants.

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Under 12 Brown
This year started out being a very tough introducƟon into Gold division both mentally and physically for the
players, the parents and especially for the coaches.
AŌer coming off a very special year winning the Grand final I oŌen thought how we would go against the
best sides in gold division and unfortunately they showed us what it's all about in the first three rounds.
All of these teams had more than one team in this age group which makes it extremely difficult to compete
against at that level.
Round 1 106 point loss
Round 2 105 point loss
Round 3 65 point loss
AŌer the grading period we were put back into Brown division, what a great idea, at least the boys could
compete without being thumped each week and gain some of their confidence back.
The remainder of the season was sƟll preƩy tough with only 3 wins against opposiƟon that seemed taller,
faster, stronger and more athleƟc, but the boys tried hard against these teams that had improved from last
season. Towards the end of the season there were a few games that were in our reach but the results did-
n't go our way.
My aim this year was for each of the boys to improve their skills and aƩack on the football which I think was
definitely achieved in what I saw by the end of the season. Win or lose, I sƟll enjoyed the year coaching
such a great bunch of boys with the fantasƟc support from Niño, Les, Barry and John on both training nights
and on game day.
A special thanks to both Sally and Tom for the fantasƟc job as being the best managers which makes my job
a lot easier and enjoyable.
Milestones: Ted Kelly Medal won by Ethan Duncan.
50 Gamers:
CongratulaƟons to each of the following boys.
Stasi Fragkos, Jesse Edwards, Adam Voglis, Trent Cockerell, Marcus Varasso.
Hope that all you boys come back next season to play for the mighty Bullants.

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Under 13 Brown
Pre-season started way back in February and with cricket season sƟll going it was hard to know how many
boys would be playing this season.
Grant King was busy in the off season and had recruited some new boys into the club. We welcomed Jo-
seph, Noah, Calvin, Lorenzo and Anthony from other clubs into the fold and to their credit they managed to
fit in extremely well. So we were to start the season with a list of 25 players.
The opening 3 games of the season were all wins. Two of the teams would drop to Green division.
The fourth game and last of the grading matches was against Canterbury. Whoever won this contest would
go into Gold division. We were given a real football lesson that day by a stronger and much bigger side. A
65 point margin so Brown division it was for us. The next round was against Ivanhoe and to the boys’ credit
they put up a gallant fight to only go down by 9 points.
Round 6 saw us come up against Doncaster Heights who were struggling for numbers so it was Grant who
decided to give them players to even up. A decision he would rather forget as they beat us by 6 points with
Angus Dullard being one of the best players for the opposiƟon.
Round 7 would see us back on the winners list but that would see the end of Grant King as Coach and his 2
boys Lachlan and Brandon.
Round 8 with Dave SƟcca coaching again we went down to Camberwell, but the main thing was all the boys
had agreed they would play out the season together. We kept a list of 23 players.
Round 9 would see myself step in as coach with the main emphasis being the boys were to enjoy their foot-
ball and don’t be overly concerned about winning. I would play the boys in different posiƟons to give them a
go and teach them to play as a team and get everyone involved, but most of all enjoy the game.
From round 9 to 15 we would only win another 2 games but this didn’t reflect in any way the boys endeav-
our or commitment to the jumper and each other. Our biggest losing margin was 63 points, our second big-
gest margin was 19 points and they were both to Ivanhoe who was the stand out team of the season.
During these rounds they played some fantasƟc football that I always knew they were capable of. We just
lacked consistency for 4 quarters. I hope these boys will conƟnue to play football and remember that win-
ning isn’t everything. They should also be looking at improving to obtain more enjoyment from the game
and then the wins might come.
CongratulaƟons to Jake SƟcca and Joseph Ciranna on playing in one of the representaƟve teams this year
and being named in the beƩer players. CongratulaƟons to Patrick Yammouni and Lachlan Blanchard on
Playing 100 games.
A big THANK-YOU to Assistant coach ScoƩ Wilson, runner Pat Gullone, boundary Michael Di Cosmo and last
but not least our Team Manager Trevor Glassborow , assisted by his wife Robyn. Without people like them
the team would struggle to get out onto the field each week.
To all the Parents thank-you for your support and helping out with the game day duƟes and thanks to An-
thony Zannoni for your match reports, they were always a good read.
Thank-you to the boys for your honesty and belief and the opportunity you gave me. It was a pleasure to
coach and watch you play each week. Remember that a club is only as strong as the people who support it
through the good Ɵmes and the bad. Success is not always measured by wins or loses but by the effort to
see things through. You have all succeeded this year and made me extremely proud.
Good luck for Season 2014. Michael Blanchard—Coach

Siƫng wriƟng this report & it is one week on since geƫng knocked off in the first final against Canterbury. I
have reflected oŌen on our final came and it sƟll eats at me. We could have, should have, would have but
didn’t.
As the saying goes, “build a bridge and get over it”. So aŌer I get this done maybe I can head on down to the
local hardware and purchase some Ɵmber. Anyway there was no doubt in my mind that we would win and
maybe that’s why it hit me so hard. Plans had been made and structure put in place to take these guys on
head first. With the
Bullants kicking 4 goals 5 in the first quarter, we were off to a fantasƟc start. At the end of the day we prob-
ably had around 16 fit players and so we were always going to be tested as the game wore on. There were
some fantasƟc performances in the match and whilst some players dominated for one quarter, others two
or three, I thought both Ben & MaƩy King stood out giving everything they had from first bounce to final
siren. So many Ɵmes I saw them in the thick of it. Thanks boys, well done.
Now for the home and away season. Second, third and fourth place all finished on the same wins, only sepa-
rated by percentage. We had some brilliant games. My favorite was the win against Canterbury who had
won the Gold premiership last season. The win against Canterbury “seƩled the ship” aŌer losing those two
games we don’t care to talk about. I also know how much you guys enjoyed beaƟng Beverley Hills and we
did that twice this year. The greatest improvement was the way we played more as a team and started to
look out for each other. We need to conƟnue with this next season. Looking out for and protecƟng your
team mates will give you all much more confidence in yourselves and each other resulƟng in fewer turno-
vers and more goals.
The new players to join us this year were Jordan, Nick, Brad and of course the return of Pat. Thanks guys
you certainly were big contributors in geƫng us to the finals. I hope everyone enjoyed the season and will
be keen to go again next year. Our team bonded this year stronger than ever and I am sure that a lot of you
will remain friends for many years to come. The pie night was a fantasƟc success again and thanks for Nesh
who cooked up a couple of BBQ’s during the season.
Hadley took out the Ted Kelly award and was a huge improver for our team this year. Nadi kicked a bag of
goals, Mark conƟnued with a great season & so many others did too. All the best to Laura in the youth girl’s
league next year. Thanks to our Captain, Ben and Vice-Captain, MaƩy Cecchin. Whilst we have many other
leaders in our team, it wasn’t hard to see why you guys were nominated by your teammates. Congratula-
Ɵons to both Jordan & Ben in geƫng selected to play for the YJFL.
Thanks to all you parents who of course help out in some sort of role every week. Personally I love the fact
that we can all get together as parents and provide so much for our kids. Thanks to Andrew for running the
boundary and Rondo for carrying the water. The Cenci’s for picking up the oranges and booklets every
week.
Special thanks to Vaughan & Ron, without you guys and me largely living interstate it could have all fallen
apart. Thanks to Both Natalie & Elise for been our trainers, keeping the stats and for making sure the coach
got first pick of the lollies at three quarter Ɵme.

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Under 15 Division 1
The first Ɵme I laid eyes on the U15’s at training I was impressed. What struck me was their speed and tal-
ent and although they lacked size I knew the boys had some weapons that would make them extremely
compeƟƟve. Subsequently our training focused on simulaƟng match condiƟons where we move the ball
fast.
The season started in second division and aŌer four convincing wins we moved up to the first division. Our
first game in division one was against boƩom of the table Fitzroy and it was a bapƟsm of fire. I don’t know
how the boys did it but they managed to win by a point even though the opposiƟon had many more scoring
shots.
Next we played the three top teams back to back and we performed magnificently. We managed to beat
Kew and Beverley Hills and lost to Camberwell the ladder leader by less than a couple of kicks. We now
knew we belonged and we were on our way. Next up were Hawthorn CiƟzens and St Mary’s - two teams not
in finals contenƟon.
That’s when we had our mid season reality check. We played stop start football and lost both in thrillers.
Given our height disadvantage, it became clear that we had to work harder, tackle harder and run harder
than our opposiƟon to win a game. We just couldn’t bomb the ball in the air and rely on outmarking our
opponents. We had to play a high risk game focused on running and controlling possession.
We conƟnued to work hard at training, to be accountable, to run both ways. Our moƩo was ‘whatever we
do, do it with CONVICTION’. I explained nothing is given to you on the football field or in life and if we were
to reach our potenƟal we had to earn it.
The second half of the season was tough. We had some great wins and some honorable losses and made
the finals. A mighty effort when you consider we were the only club in Under 15’s with only one team.
In the final we faced mighty Ashburton, last year’s grand finalist on a Ɵght ground on a blustery day. Not
exactly ideal for our game style but we were ready to do our best and we came out firing. Kicking against a
five-goal breeze our boys played their best football for the year going into quarter Ɵme only a couple of
goals down. I was so proud of them and now kicking with the breeze we were ready to strike.
Unfortunately that is where our finals run finished. Some injuries to a few key players all at once saw them
play no further part in the game. With no interchange we struggled to get our running game going and Ash-
burton started to control the air. The last 3 quarters were tough and the scoreboard didn’t reflect our en-
deavor against the odds. As coach I couldn’t have been prouder.
To Anthony Tieppo, my team manager, John Verbi, my assistant coach, Rob and Jimmy at training and all
the families a big thank you for all your support. We shared some great moments that I will never forget.
Finally I would like to thank a great bunch of young men for giving me their Ɵme and effort. Football is such
a great game and I hope you all learnt at least one skill or lesson from the season that you will carry with
you throughout your football career or in life. You boys are the best!

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Colts Division 2
Whilst many aspects throughout the year has been challenging for coaches and players, the determinaƟon showed by the side in the second half of
the year showed the character that this side possessed. StarƟng in Colts Division 1 we were beaten comprehensively by our opponents in three of
our first four rounds and when dropped down to Division 2 our season really started then. But even though being compeƟƟve at stages against the
likes of Ivanhoe and Banyule we weren’t able to produce the same dominance in rounds 5-8 that we would have liked. It was an eye-opening experi-
ence for everyone again that the year wasn’t going to be an easy and aŌer a 58 point smashing to the hands of eventual premiers Park Orchards we
were 1-7 and looking at a long end to the season. It was then that the team started to gel and become really honest and commiƩed to each other.
The focus at trainings became a lot more fitness orientated as their skills were good. But with an improved fitness level across the board of all 32
players we would be able to run forwards and back defensively. A nail biƟng Liam Ireland kick against Warrandyte in Round 9 to win the game by
three points with only seconds remaining brought great confidence to the group. Warrandyte were third on the ladder but we were physical and
played our first 4 quarter game for the year to win the match. The team were beginning to believe in each other that they can play quality football.
We then went on to beat Kew before losing to Macleod but in that game we had our chances against a team that lost narrowly in the grand final.
We then went on to win our remaining 4 matches to sneak in easily into the final 4 defeaƟng Kew, Beverley Hills, Warrandyte and Kew again. In the
finals series we knew what we could achieve and showed that with a dominant 3 quarters against Warrandyte where we had a 40 point lead. Even
though our opponents gave us a scare in the dying minutes we showed our class throughout the match to proceed into the preliminary final. Park
Orchards as menƟoned beat us comprehensively both Ɵmes during the regular season but we were able to play well for the first half of the first
quarter kicking into the wind. However in the laƩer stages on the first quarter Park Orchards were able to kick some quick goals and had relentless
pressure on the ball. But in the 2nd
and third quarters we were able to play the football we had played in the 2nd
half of the season and slowly reduce
the margin. In the 3rd
quarter we limited Park Orchards to one goal meaning we were 4 goals down heading into the last quarter with the wind be-
hind our backs. We made some structural changes with James Cullen moving down forward and Liam Ireland moving to Centre Half Back. With such
congested surroundings James looked dangerous early but it took unƟl the 8th
minute mark to kick our first goal. We were able to find a 2nd
goal but
Park Orchards replied quickly meaning with 10 minutes to go we were three goals down. Another goal meant with 3 minutes to go we were down by
11 points with the game up for grabs. However Park Orchards were able to stop the bleeding at we eventually ended our season with a close 11
point loss to the eventual premiers 6.6.42 to 7.11.53. A gallant effort by the Colts and when reflecƟng on the season you should all be commended
on your aƫtude all season. When the going was tough you kept on fighƟng and never died wondering. You should hold your heads up high on your
achievements and the way your represented your team, your club, yourselves and your family. Well done. For the 2013 season our captain Andy
Kay showed great leadership towards the team. Andy is congratulated for his efforts this year in which he ended up 3rd
in the YJFL Best and Fairest
and was named at Centre Half-Forwards in the Colts Team of the Year. He was always a target up forward baƩling against two or three opponents
each game. Mason Giles showed incredible commitment to the ball all season and was also awarded a fantasƟc honour in represenƟng Vic Metro in
the 2013 Under 16s Championships in Sydney. Mason’s aƩack on the football has been an incredible privilege to watch and each team-mate and
juniors from all sides can learn from his games. Andy was supported well by Anthony Salvatore and Steven Fitzgerald. Whilst Anthony commiƩed
himself to the ball regularly every week, Steven’s switch to Full Back has given him the new nickname the Golden Fitz. DusƟn Fletcher is worried.
Lucas Bosio kicked a fantasƟc 20 goals for the season, it showed the Bosio was able to find the ball and get chances for the team. Against War-
randyte for our second win of the season Lucas set the scene early using his rugby experience to hit his opponents hard whilst playing fairly. Jack
March in his first year of football improved each and every week. At his first training session he could barely kick a ball straight and at the end of the
season Jack was drilling them from 40m out! But his ruck work gave us first use of the ball the majority of the Ɵme and he has a great future ahead
of him in AFL. Marcus Alessi had two roles for most of the year, playing as a leading forward and swapping into the midfield. Marcus is an excellent
kick for goal and in a number of games was able to score quick goals to break our opponents. On the ball, he is quick and applied fantasƟc pressure.
It’s been great to coach you this year. Greg Loucas’s season started off slowly geƫng an injury in our pracƟce match against Eltham. But you were a
welcome inclusion when you were fit and showed how much of a footballer you are. Well done on an excellent season. James Cullen was a rock
down back each and every week. He has great skills, aƩacks the football and commits himself to every contest. At Centre Half Back, James played on
quality opponents each week but again in the majority of occasions James won each and every baƩle. Luke Newton and Tom Rico starred in the
final quarter against Kew in round 15. They both commiƩed to training and matches week aŌer week giving their all for their team-mates. Luke in
parƟcular chased, tackled and nearly scored a great snap but later set up Tom for a goal 10m out directly in front of goal. James Dedes, Luke
Schieven, Conor Ireland, Michael Hooper, Luke Thomas and Jacob Gates improvements over the year was fantasƟc. No doubt the year was tough at
Ɵmes for these players, playing in posiƟons they someƟmes hadn’t had much experience in or different posiƟons each week but their run and carry
was fantasƟc. Well done to each of you and the coaching staff look forward to coaching you all again next season. Lucas Brandellero fought week in,
week out also. Against Beverley Hills early in the year he took a fantasƟc mark running back with the flight of the ball showing great courage in doing
so. He went back to slot the goal which was splendid. Liam Davidson, Liam Ireland, Chris Paolucci and MaƩhew Frost were four of our talls for the
year. Whilst Chris had many injuries he later was able to notch up a fantasƟc milestone in achieving 150 games for the club. Liam Davidson kicked a
number of important goals for us this year and Frosty played in a posiƟon that was quite foreign to him, assisƟng Jack March in the ruck. As men-
Ɵoned earlier Liam Ireland’s goal against Warrandyte will be in our memories forever but he played a great supporƟng role to Andy Kay up forward
all year. All four of you have great skills and I hope conƟnue with your footy in the future and for Liam Ireland we too look forward to seeing what
you can provide next season. Jack Jordon, Tom Lusk, Liam Blanchard, ChrisƟan Alevizos and Jason Athanasopoulos supported each other tremen-
dously each week down back along with Fitzy and Cullen. Games are won around quality defence and our backline were commiƩed each and every
week. They would run back in to contests, structure fantasƟcally across the ground and were an integral part in geƫng us in to the finals. They also
were able to create run from our backline (Jason’s electrical change in pace is astonishing) and were able to get the ball down the ground through
our midfield to our targets up forward. To the boys whose seasons were cut short through injury such as ChrisƟan Christopher, Karim Khoury, Chris
Costas and Josh Davis your support during the end of the year was fantasƟc. Each of you showed during the season how much you can play the
game. We look forward to coaching some of you again next year also. Special thanks to those that assisted throughout the year including parents
who assisted on match days as runners, goal umpires, umpire escorts, water carriers. In parƟcular a big thankyou to Harpo and Shealesy who com-
miƩed to this season. Both of these guys commiƩed to coaching knowing fully that their weeks during the football season would consist on 6 days of
football between their junior and senior club commitments. Lastly a big thankyou to Lisa Gates and John Dedes who’s roles as Team Managers dur-
ing the week and on game days is greatly appreciated. Lisa also worked as our trainer during matches. Also to Craig Davidson for his communicaƟon
on Facebook to the team. Andrew Browne—Coach

BTJFC Yearbook 2013—Youth Girls
2013 was all about development and educaƟon for the youth girls. We saw many new players join the club
and the youth girl’s squad grew to 22 registered players. With the influx of new players came the coaching
challenge to quickly mould this group into a single unit, however for many of the players it was as basic as
teaching them how to kick, mark and handball. I would like to congratulate all the debutants this year for
their commitment to fast track their learning and skill development – each one of you has a big future in
football if you sƟck with it next year.
Pre season focused on enjoyment, core fitness, team building and football skills. We were lucky enough to
have Carlton ruckman MaƩ Kreuzer from the Carlton Football Club join us for a skill session during the pre-
season - which the girls took a lot out of.
As the season unfolded it was exciƟng to see the girls improve every week and it was a pleasure to watch
them grow not only as a team but also as individuals. Whilst not making finals this year, there were many
pleasing results against some of the compeƟƟons best teams which the squad can be proud of. This year’s
leadership group was Lani Pane (Capt) and Oliva Frost (Vice Capt) and I would like to acknowledge both Lani
& Liv for their dedicaƟon to the club and their assistance in making 2013 the year it was.
This year saw 7 Bullant girls selected in the YJFL Youth Girls representaƟve squad that competed in the Vic-
torian Metropolitan Youth Girls Carnival. The YJFL squad ulƟmately won the championship and so congratu-
laƟons to Laura Robertson, Georgina Robertson, Lani Pane, Rachael Traplin, Tessa ZagonƟnos , Maddie Cook
and Kate Oxley who all contributed to this result. Likewise congratulaƟons to Laura Robertson who came 6th
in the YJFL Best & Fairest count and to Georgina Robertson who was this year’s Ted Kelly Medalist.
Finally I would like to pay a special tribute to my two assistant coaches – the two Rons. Both Ron MATZ and
Ron PANE brought great knowledge and experience to the table and I was very fortunate to have them at
my side. To our team manager Bruce TRAPLIN I can not speak highly enough of all the work you do, not only
for the Youth Girls but also for the club. Regular match day help came from Sue Robertson (trainer) Craig
DAVIDSON (runner/water carrier) and Toby HANSEN (staƟsƟcian) and is much appreciated.
If we are able to keep this squad together and aƩract the new emerging talent coming up through the Jun-
ior Girls, I am very excited with what the future holds for the Bullant Youth Girls. So in closing well done girls
on a successful 2013 but more importantly let’s commit to each other in 2014.

BTDJFC Yearbook 2013—U12 Girls
We ended the season with a preliminary final that was a game that we will all remember.
With the wind always going towards one end of the field, everyone knew which quarters would be a scoring
quarter.
As the ball went up, it would come straight back to the kicker, the wind was that strong. The girls came out
with the wind sending us on a great start to what was going to be a tough game. With everyone puƫng in
all their effort, we were able to go into the quarter Ɵme break with a small but great lead. Kew comets
came out in the second quarter as hard as ever making them a great contest for our girls. By the fourth
quarter, we were up by a couple of points and it was basically a defensive game from then on to stop Kew
from scoring. With a quick couple of goals from Kew, they were able to get over the line and beat us Bulleen
2-1-13 to Kew Comets 3-3-21.
Although we lost the preliminary final, I was so extremely proud of how far these girls had come. From the
first training session, where I had a handful of girls with some never touching a football in their life, to the
final training session, with everyone being able to play the game and do it successfully is what I had
dreamed of and the girls made that happen.
I would like to thank my Assistant Coach Rachael for being a great help and giving me some knowledge of
new skills and drills to do with the girls, the Runner MaƩhew for not only delivering messages but also help-
ing me and Rachael when we needed his assistance, Bruce for being an excellent team manager that defi-
nitely made my life easier, my mum Karen for being Trainer and all the regular helpers that assisted in the
posiƟons that were so important for the game to go ahead.
Without this parent help, it wouldn’t be possible. I hope all the eligible girls come back next season because
I can already see a big season coming up.
On behalf of the Girls and the coaching staff, I would like to wish Stephanie Paolucci, Shenae Dixon and So-
phie Bolt the very best of luck in their football future. I’m sure if you decide to conƟnue on, the youth girls
will be very lucky to have you as I have been.
We will conƟnue to support you no maƩer what and don’t be a stranger to us next year, there is always
something that you could do and we would love to see you!
This year has been the season of high’s and low’s but all in all we became a unit, and more importantly, a
group of good friends. See you next season.
