4. The Dalles family
The Dalles, John and Elena families were
one of the richest in Romania at the end of
the 19th century. The name was Greek, as
was their origin. The family's houses
numbered hundreds of land plots, nearly
1,500 hectares of forest and countless
buildings in some of the best areas of
Bucharest since then: bd. Bratianu, Lipscani
str., Selari str., Gabroveni str. But the Dalles
had established their residence at the
Bucsani estate, located not far from
Bucharest, in Dambovita County. Here
people often received culture, which they
supported in their artistic and intellectual
preoccupations.
5. Over two more years, the pain of her parents is relieved by the birth of
a girl, whom she will call Dora. Then, in the Dalles, another boy was
born in 1879, John. But destiny will hit them again. In 1886, John Dalles
ceased to exist. But fate did not let Elena enjoy the two children in a
little while. Six years after losing her husband, Dora dies at age 17.
Although finished by the loss of dearest beings, Elena will take another
blow: in 1914, his last son, John, dies. Thus, Elena remains the only one
in the world.
With all the fame and prestige
he had created, the family was
hit hardest by fate. In 1871 he
was born the first heir, George,
who died at only two years.
6. Black Bison Reservation
of Bucsani
Established in communism, in 1983,
‘’the Black Bison’’ appeared with the
aim of adapting the shrub to the plain
area. You can see 47 bison, of which 23
males and 24 females, living on 162
hectares of forest. All specimens from
Zimbrarie have names starting with Ro:
Romario, Roberta, Rococo.
