2. I asked this question to receive various
and open ended answers as it is a open
ended question to ask.
From the answers, I have discovered that
some people like the use of the dance
routine. This is a very effective aspect of
the music video as it is the performance
material based on the song ‘Crazy in
Love’. Also, it shows a narrative within the
dance performance as it is not conforming
to the stereotype of the ‘boy meets girl’
narrative, suggested by Tessa Perkins.
Additionally, many of the audience
responded to the question via the use of
mise-en-scene. One audience member
used the fact of the different locations
used within the music video. This
conforms to Contemporary R’n’B music
videos as they use various locations to
attract the audience and not make the
video boring.
Even more so, the audience members have highlighted the use of the post production of editing. The different
effects that I have used within my music video attract the audience as it shows something new instead of a boring
music video just going through different footage. The use of the flash effect I have used when the chorus kicks in,
shows the audience that something quick will be happening and the dance routine will get faster attracting them
to watch more.
3. I asked this question as I
wanted to see what the
individual message came
across to the audience as they
was watching my music video.
Audience members highlighted
the use of cinematography I
have used. I used the
cinematography to capture the
emotions of the male lead role
towards the female as I believe
the certain types of camera
shots shows the conformity of
the emotions of love.
Also, the dance routine is
greatly expressed through the
range of answers. The
performance shows the mise-
en-scene as well as the
cinematography showing the
style of the dance routine by
the genre.
4. As I chose the genre Contemporary
RnB, I didn’t want to conform to the
usual stereotype of the ‘love story’ or
drastic ‘money and fame’ stories. I
wanted the audience to still know my
narrative on the concept of the song.
All of the audience responses
responded great as they all knew the
concept of my performance narrative.
One of the answers included that the
cinematography shows that the boy is
dreaming about the girl by the choice
of camera angles I have chosen to
attract the audience to the narrative.
Additionally, some of the respondents
reacted to noticing the narrative by
the effects used such as the black and
white theme. I chose to use this
theme as it differs from the ‘reality’
scene of them dancing in the dance
studio so the audience can tell the
difference of the narrative.
5. For this question, I have a various of
respondents. Some of the audience
like everything on the video and
suggest that I change ‘nothing’.
However, other audience members
refer to the concept of minor touches
such as mise-en-scene. One of the
audience members suggests to add
more locations onto the video to make
the video more effective. Additionally,
another audience member has
suggested to add more effects. This
could include a range of different
effects, I understand that with a slow
song, it is hard to add effects and it is
very challenging, however, I could use
more effects to attract the audience
from the slow to the faced paced
chorus.
