Protecting The Environment
In order to survive in this world, we need a clean and healthy environment. Protecting our
environment will help prevent many health problems that many areas of the world struggle with
already today. It is important for everyone to help contribute to protecting the environment
because we live in the environment! Your great-great and great-great-great grandchildren will
appreciate if you contribute to making a healthy environment for them to live in one day. An
estimated 12.6 million people died as a result of living or working in an unhealthy environments
– nearly 1 in 4 global deaths. Environmental risk factors such as air, water, and soil pollution,
chemical exposures, climate change, and ultraviolet radiation contribute to more than 100
diseases and injuries. Air pollution is the greatest environment risk to children's health. Every
year, more than 570,000 children under 5 years old die from respiratory diseases, such as
pneumonia, linked to indoor and outdoor air pollution and second-hand tobacco smoke. With
many natural disasters, warming and cooling periods, different types of weather patterns and
much more, people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is
facing. Global warming has emerged and is one of the biggest environmental issues in the two
decades. There are many easy ways to protect the environment that are actions we do in our daily
lives. Some things we can do to help protect our environment include, conserving energy, not
burning yard waste, dispose of trash properly, recycle, don’t let the water run while brushing
your teeth or shaving. If we all come together and try to do at least one or two of these things in
2. our own communities, the impact all over the world will be much greater. Helping our world to
become a healthier environment each and every day.
