5. PORPHYRIA CUTANEA TARDA
The most common subtype
of porphyria. The disease is
named because it is a
porphyria that often
presents with skin
manifestations later in life.
The disorder results from
low levels of the enzyme
responsible for the fifth
step in heme production.

6. LAUGIER-HUNZIKER SYNDROME
An acquired, benign
pigmentary skin condition
involving oral cavity
including lower lip in the
form of brown black
macules 1–5 mm in size,
frequently associated with
longitudinal
melanonychia.

7. CUTANEOUS LARVA MIGRANS
Caused by the larvae of
various nematode
parasites of the
hookworm family
(Ancylostomatidae). The
most common species
causing this disease in
the Americas is
Ancylostoma braziliense.

8. ATROPHIE BLANCHE
A particular type of scar
arising on the lower leg. It
occurs after a skin injury
when the blood supply is
poor. It may arise in
association with: Livedoid
vasculopathy. Venous
insufficiency.

9. GREEN NAIL SYNDROME
This is an infection with
Pseudomonas, a type of
bacteria. Green nail
syndrome is caused by
an infection with
Pseudomonas species.
The nail in the area of
onycholysis becomes
greenish in color.

10. LYME DISEASE
This is an infectious disease
caused by bacteria of the
Borrelia type which is
spread by ticks. The most
common sign of infection is
an expanding area of
redness on the skin, known
as erythema migrans, that
begins at the site of a tick
bite about a week after it
has occurred.
