1. Juanita Ward Marketing Manager Juanita Ward has been working at Siemens since 1 July 2007 through the acquisition of Bayer Diagnostics. She started at Bayer Diagnostics in February 2001 in Johannesburg as product manager for Haematology and Haemostasis in the marketing division. In 2003 she was appointed as the Key Account Manager with in the sales division for the four main gold customer accounts. She returned to the marketing division in 2005 an in January 2008 she was appointed as the Marketing Manager for Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. 2. Vimla Frank Media Sales Manager Vimla Frank started her career in media at South Africa’s first national Indian radio station, Lotus FM in 1991. Starting as Secretary to the Station Manager, she quickly moved up the ranks to Public Relations Officer then Marketing Manager. During her 10 year tenure at the station she successfully re-positioned Lotus FM and helped grow its listenership from 200 000 to half-a-million listeners. She also initiated a marketing and sales support strategy that aided in making the station a profitable commercial enterprise. She was appointed by MultiChoice, Africa's largest and only pay TV operator, in 2002 as the Manager of the Indian Bouquet. Vimla was then appointed Specialist Bouquets Manager, a position that expanded her portfolio to include the Portuguese Bouquet. During that time one of her key achievements was the re-alignment of the existing content within the bouquets and building them into a strong marketable offering. This included content management, the creation and implementation of a strong marketing and sales strategy, brand creation and positioning and subscriber acquisition. WorldSpace Satellite Radio appointed Vimla as the General Manager of Sales & Marketing: Africa in July 2005. Her responsibilities included the positioning of WorldSpace as a dynamic presence in the satellite radio industry, building brand awareness and driving the acquisition of subscribers in Africa. Vimla also set up and managed the Customer Care Centre and hardware distribution channel for WorldSpace in Africa. Siemens appointed her as Media Sales Manager in 2009. Vimla is tasked with identifying new media opportunities and building the media business in South Africa. Shaleenah Marie Human Resources Manager Born and brought up in Durban, I studied at the University of Durban Westville and one of my subjects at university was Education, Gender and Feminism Studies. Armed with a B.Paed degree, I started my career as a Child Behavioral Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts (USA). I soon realized that I wanted to contribute to the development of human potential and returned to South Africa and enrolled for post graduate studies in Organizational Development and Labor Relations. I joined TSS Business Services as an HR Manager and later as my career evolved, joined Scientific Group/Adcock Ingram and later Tiger Brands. I joined Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics two years ago as a Human Resources Manager. It has been an exhilarating two years where I have travelled abroad to the USA, Spain, Germany and France on international HR projects and training workshops. Last year SHD adopted two Children's Homes where we in our personal capacity collected clothing, shoes, and books and gave off our time to these children. Recently SHD adopted the Isekelo Primary School in Tembisa where we have just completed painting the school and equipping a fully functional science room. We have an in house mentoring programme where the managers are responsible in mentoring our school graduates. Our role as mentors are taken very seriously because we are skilling our future leaders of tomorrow. Why did I want to become a member of ALOW (Africa Leadership Organization of Women)? We have the silent PHD (Pull her down) pandemic which is threatening our unified strength as women. "United we stand, Divided we fall" We need to acknowledge other women’s achievements more, encourage each other more and lend a helping hand to each other more… We need to inculcate a PHU (Pull her up culture) that wipes away the need for us to put other women down. Women's experiences and skills are our most valuable resource, so let’s use this effectively. Empowering our young females with the knowledge, skills and the know how is not a choice which we have but a social responsibility we have as woman toward woman. Alex Motshwanetsi Mathole Executive Director & General Counsel Siemens Limited Southern Africa Alex Motshwanetsi Mathole, Executive Director and General Counsel for Siemens Southern Africa and director of various Siemens subsidiaries in South East Africa. Alex completed her undergraduate legal degree in 1993 at the University of the Western Cape before advancing her post graduate legal studies at the Wits University. Alex joined Siemens in March 2006 and in addition to her strategic executive director role, she leads the legal team with a particular focus on providing commercial and transactional guidance for the overall Siemens South East Africa operation within the Energy, Industry, Healthcare and IT Sectors.
