3. Answer
Crimping type connectors or lugs have been very popular for many years
in the Worldwide market, but newly launched Concept of Mechanical
connectors or lugs with head bolts which shear off at certain torque are
becoming acceptable worldwide.
Compaq Mechanical Connectors or lugs are designed for Low and
Medium Voltage applications. Such connectors and Lugs are reliable and
money saving way of connecting different conductor cross sections and
conductor materials for 1 kV up to 36 kV.

5. Advantages of Mechanical Connector over Crimping
Connectors
COMPAQ INTERNATIONAL (P) LIMITED
Mechanical Connectors or Lugs are Range Taking.
The head will always shear-off at the required torque moment.
No torque wrench required.
Used with almost every type of conductor and material.
No Sharp Edges which may caused when using hexagonal die-sets.

Bolts:
Made of Special aluminium alloy.
Double shear-head bolts with hexagon heads.
Lubricated with special grease.

7. Distinct Advantages of Mechanical type
Mechanical Connectors or lugs can be considered more
expensive than traditional crimp systems especially if end user is
fully tooled up for crimping.
Mechanical type have larger profile than crimp connector
equivalent, therefor all systems may not be easily installed.
The cross section may not always be symmetrical, which can make
treatment over connector area more critical.
