Evolution Vs Creation Vs Evolution
A very common question and debate for multiple years is, "What came first; the chicken or the egg?" Both evolution and creation make excellent
counter–arguments against one another about how Earth came to be, and have also been argued against one another for many years. This paper will
contain the topics of comparing evolution and creation; these topics are that they are both based on theories, Earth was one big continent, and natural
selection. Along with those topics, there will be contrasts between evolution and creation; these topics will include chimpanzees versus god, science
versus religion, and the last one is evolution and creation itself.
The first topic is about how they are both based on theories. Creationists theory is that...show more content...
Then, the last topic for comparison is natural selection. The definition of natural selection is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their
environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. The theory of its action was first fully expounded by Charles Darwin and is now believed to
be the main process that brings about evolution. Darwin and Blyth's points on natural selection may differ but all is said that evolutionists and
creationists believed that natural selection did occur, that it did take place no matter what some believed in.
Now, about the contrasts of evolution and creation. One main topic is how we could have evolutionized from chimpanzees or that we could have
been created by God. Genetic evidence suggests the ancestors of humans and chimpanzees diverged roughly 4 million years ago. The relative size of
the chimp brain matches most of our extinct relatives, for a long time suggesting our ape cousin might be an ideal place to glimpse humanity 's origins
( Choi, Human Evolution: Our Closest Living Relatives). As Charles Q. Choi states that the genetic evidence is similar to human beings. "Emotionally
and socially, the psychology of chimps is very similar to humans," said primatologist Frans de Waal at Emory University in Atlanta. For instance, he
noted, chimps have shown they can help unrelated chimps and human strangers at personal cost

Personal Narrative: Creation Vs. Evolution
When I was in the 8th grade, my science teacher, Mr. H told us he was a Creationist. I personally believe in evolution and the two ideas seemed to
be opposite. Our unit on how the Earth and it's creatures developed was towards the end of the year, and during this time, I gained a great respect for
Mr. H. He is very intelligent and thoroughly evaluates and questions the information he sees. He was vastly knowledgeable on what he taught, and had
the qualifications to teach at a much higher level than 8th grade science. When we got to the unit that would involve how the Earth developed, I went
in with an open mind. I decided to listen to what he had to say, and to try to understand where he was coming from. What surprised me is that he

Creation vs. Evolution Essay
Today many scientists would have people to believe that evolution is the only reasonable explanation of the universe. Scientists, like Stephen
Hawking, claim that they have proved that evolution is the correct answer to the origins of life and the universe, yet evolution is still a theory. This
problem occurs because evolution is not the only answer. In fact, the creation theory offers a more feasible answer to the origins of the universe than the
evolution theory does. Creation has the backings of the Bible, an extraordinarily credible book; where evolution provides a theory with many holes in it.
Too frequently the Bible is considered a weak argument, but why? When using the Bible as a reference for any argument, the accuracy of the...show

Not only is the Old Testament historically accurate, but also the Old Testament demonstrates knowledge that is undiscovered for centuries after the Old
Testament was written. Twice, in Genesis, God told Abraham that his descendants would be innumerable, just like the stars, but up until the time of
Galileo, scholars still tried to count the stars. Today scientist know that there are over 100 billion stars in the universe, and counting them would
require around the clock counting for 3000 years. For centuries the earth was not always thought of as spherical. Until the time of Magellan, no one
was positive that the earth was round. Isaiah and David both mention the spherical shape of the earth. Recently scientists have discovered springs at the
bottom of the ocean, but Job talks with God about the springs in the Ocean. The Old Testament is filled with scientific knowledge is has been proven
(Pyles). There are countless examples of the Old Testament being correct scientifically, even when the knowledge of the subjects were limited. Why
would the creation account be incorrect if the other accounts mentioned in the Old Testament were correct? Although scientist or philosophers did not
write the Bible, God revealed this knowledge to the authors so the Bible would be indisputable.
Skeptics tend to not credit the accuracy of the Bible and say that the creation narration is just not enough evidence. Evolutionists have theorized that the

Creationism vs. Evolution Essay
Where we come from is a question as old as mankind itself. There are countless numbers of religions, each with their own twist on the origins of earth
and mankind, but one of the most highly visible debates would be creationism vs. evolution. Depending on where your beliefs lie, the Earth has been
around somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,000 years to 4.5 billion years. One would tend to believe that this vast difference in time would make it
impossible to have 2 "theories" that are so widely accepted. However this debate gives you just that. Each argument has its variations, however it
comes down to either God created the Earth and all things in it as they are now or that life today has evolved from a...show more content...
Under the same idea, the "Old Earth" train of thought is that the "days" mentioned in Genesis were actually up to many millions of years each. This
is one of many "theories" that justifies the actual age of the Earth being around 4.5 billion years old. The third view states that the story of creation
contained in Genesis is not a literal or even a chronological account of happenings. It is instead a guide promoting a six–day workweek with the
seventh day a day of worship to God. The last view is much like the second, in that it considers the "days" to be God's workdays, which may or may not
be equal to an Earth calendar day. Each day represents a period of time that God performed a major task. Each view has the same underlying concept
that God created everything, and the way it is today, it the way it was when it was created.
Webster's Dictionary defines evolution as a theory that the various types of animals and plants have their origin in other preexisting types and that the
distinguishable differences are due to modification in successive generations. Like creation, evolution is not immune from differing of opinions.
Evolution is split between two frames of though, naturalistic and theistic.
Naturalistic evolution is pretty much cut and dry. It simply states that life started as a single one–celled organism. The universe was created 14 billion
years ago, and the Earth was

Creation vs. Evolution
Since the publication of Darwin's Origin of Species in 1859, there has been a continuous debate in the United States regarding evolution and creation.
Recently, this debate has intensified throughout America over the issue of whether or not to include creationism in thepublic school curriculum either in
conjunction with evolution or as a replacement for the theory. With such a volatile subject being argued, there are other issues that are brought up at
the same time. I find these side issues to the evolution/creation debate to be very perplexing. The many differing viewpoints that my friends, family, and
the American public in general believe are incredibly interesting. There are varying strict...show more content...
However, I found the truth of the matter to be that there are extremely different views that people have about the story of evolution and creation.
People have not just "taken a side" and called themselves a strict creationist or an evolutionist; people have combined the two views into a personal
idea that they created to support their beliefs in both science and the Bible.
For example, I interviewed my closest friend from Oregon State University, Myron Kutch (real names were changed), about what he thought about
evolution and creation. Kutch does not have the typical views that are accepted by the Catholic Church or his family. Instead he believes in an odd
combination of science and religion. Kutch thinks that God created the earth within seven days according to the Bible. He believes that plant and
animal life was created within these seven days by God, but has evolved since the time God put them on earth billions of years ago in order to
survive. Kutch believes that "God created each kind of animal and that living thing evolved into different species. For example, God created several
kinds of birds and those evolved into the kinds of birds we have today, such as sparrows." [1] He also believes that God created Adam and Eve as the
first humans on earth, but that they were primitive forms of humans. He reasons that science has proved that humans, including

Most Americans are aware of one of the top controversial topics within the public education system: Evolution vs. Creation. When it comes to our
universe's existence it gets very tricky. Many different viewpoints are brought up based on personal beliefs. The greatest question is: should students be

LeVake had argued for his right to teach "evidence both for and against the theory" of evolution. The school district considered the content of what he
was teaching and concluded that it did not match the curriculum, which required the teaching of evolution. Given the large amount of case law
requiring a teacher to teach the employing district's curriculum, the judge declared that LeVake did not have a free speech right to override the

Don't Monkey Around in Class
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" (Gen. 1:1). Words of this nature have been questioned for thousands of years–by naturalists,
materialists, humanists, etc.–and, in more recent times, have led to court cases, heated arguments, and public debates. The major debate intended to be
covered in this piece is that of whether or not evolution should be taught in classrooms. Also, if it is to be taught, should it be taught as fact or theory? It
is also intended to present enough evidence to disprove evolution altogether and, as a result, make it much less than a theory, but actually the vain
opinions of a man who chose not to accept the truth....show more content...
Organisms either appeared on the earth fully developed or they did not. If they did not, they must have developed from preexisting species by some
form of modification. If they did appear in a fully developed state, they must indeed have been created by some omnipotent intelligence" (qtd. in Gish).
Furthermore, if evolution were true, "there would be countless fossils of transitional forms...., millions of fossils showing various stages in the gradual
transition of kinds of organisms into different kinds...., and 'missing links'" (Parker, et al, 367). "Charles Darwin himself recognized this problem: 'The
number of intermediate varieties, which have formerly existed, must be truly enormous. Why then is not every geological formation and every
stratum full of such intermediate links? Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely graduated organic chain; and this, perhaps is the most
obvious and serious objection to the theory" (Parker, et al, 367). Darwin's doubts, however, do not stop there: "To suppose that the eye...could have
been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree" (Parker, et al, 381). Also, with respect to transitional
forms and the fact that the animal must be alive and fully functional during any change, he says, "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ
existed, which by numerous, successive modifications, my theory would absolutely break down. Gregory Parker's text also

Essay on Evolution VS. Creationism
Since the beginning of the human race there has been a lingering question as to the origins of man and how all living things acquired their
characteristics. The two main theories that arose over time were Creationism and Evolution, both of which provided very distinct answers to this
question. Creationism based its answer on the idea of a supernatural power or being that created the entire universe, man and the numerous other
organisms that live within it. While, Evolution theorizes that all living things have the potential to change and grow over time into something new and
different. So in other words, one theory suggests that humans and all the organisms on Earth are the result of divine design, while the other indicates
that they...show more content...
Every one of these flaws points out that the Creationists theory that the Earth, all of the organisms on it, and everything that surrounds it has not
changed or been altered since the flood is inaccurate. Biogeography for example shows that "closely allied" species have a tendency to live on the "same
continent... or within the same group of oceanic islands... despite their species–by–species preferences for different habitats, food source, [and] of
conditions of climate" (Quammen 4). The explanation for this is that "they descended from common ancestors" and this can be verified with the
paleontology flaw because that flaw deals with the fossils of plants and animals "that had [either] become extinct or that still existed but in different
forms" which indicates not only that organisms have changed over time, but also provides evidence that "closely allied" organism have lived in the
same areas of centuries (Quammen 4; Parks 24). Then in the taxonomic classification flaw these "closely allied" spices can be "systematically
classified, according to their shared similarities" which, suggests that "closely allied" organisms descended from common ancestor because of the traits
and similar organs that allows this type of classification (Quammen 5). The presence of these similar traits and organs introduces the flaw of vestigial
characteristics because although some of these do not have any current

Creation vs. Evolution
Ever since the publication of Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species was
published there has been an ongoing debate between science and religion. Scientists
have formulated many theories as to the origins of man and to the creation of the
earth, whereas religious groups have one main creation theory, based on the "Genesis"
story of The Bible. These theories, however, are not the cause of the debate because
the different theories are simply myths meant to explain the unknown–– the debate is
caused by different belief systems. According to a November 1997 Gallup poll 44% of the people that responded
agreed that God created human beings in their present form at one time...show more content...
The creationist arguments can be summed up in one example from the Morris –
Parker book. They state "Evolution is claimed to be 'scientific,' and still going on, so it
seems like it should be observable and measurable. Yet after 150 years of intense
study of biological variations, evolutionists are still completely in the dark about the
supposed mechanism of evolution. This fact surely is cause for beginning to doubt the
validity of the very concept of evolution" (303). Words such as 'claimed', 'should be',
and 'supposed' are very powerful, but they don't give examples as to where and who
claimed or supposed these things, nor do they seem to understand evolution. In 150
years, the evolutionary change that would occur is insignificant, so it is very difficult
to see such changes in such a short period of time, because they are completely
ignoring the evolutionary time scale. Also, they don't acknowledge that biologists
have seen evolution occur, as in the case of moth's wings changing color for
protection against their prey. Morris and Parker are also blatantly attacking evolution
as a science and as a fact (303).
When Edward Larson did his research for his book Summer for the Gods: The
Scopes trial and America's Continuing Debate over Science and Religion, he found
that the overall 95% of scientists admitted that they

There has always been a conflict between the religious world and the scientific world. Whether it be when science first challenged that the earth was
not the center of the universe as dictated by the Church, or when it was discovered that the earth was round rather than flat. Both these "theories"
today are widely accepted and the rest of society generally ridicules any persons that believe the earth is the center of the universe or that the world is
flat. However, at the time of their discovery, there was massive outcry by the religious community, as they believed it contradicted the "facts" in the

Rather both evolution and creation are both correct, but simply two sides of the same coin.
In 1992 New York Times took a poll in which about half of all Americans believe that God created humans pretty much the way they appear now. At
the same time, the vast majority of the scientific community supports the theory of evolution. There are two reasons for this discrepancy. Firstly, most
of the general public is not fully aware of what evolution is. And secondly, the religious ideals that have been ingrained in North American society
dictates the one creator God, and therefore most people refuse to believe in evolution. To emphasize this difference in opinion, I will explain some of
the extreme beliefs on both the creationist side and the evolutionist side.
Much of the religious world (Christians, Jews and Muslims) believe that the world was created pretty much the way it is today. The reason they
believe this is due to their literal understanding of the Bible. Many believe that "…the story of Creation, written [in the bible] long before all
others is completely accurate"(Cooper 45). Furthermore, they believe that "[n]othing could be so exact and descriptive" (Cooper 45). According to
Genesis 1–3, God created the world in six days. The first three days, He created the physical

Evolution! The theory that every living organism has come from a lesser organism. A theory that claims humans have come from monkeys. This
"theory", is what's being taught to our children in school. If a child asks a teacher about the theory of Creation, they are sure to get a response like,
"I'm not allowed to answer that question", or something along those lines, because schools are not allowed to teach on religious subjects. I guess
schools think that evolution is the next best thing.

Materialistic philosophy is a philosophy that places materialistic goods above spiritual values; this type of philosophy is what produced the theory of
evolution.
The person who put forth the theory of evolution the way it is defined today, was an amateur English Naturalist, Charles Robert Darwin.
According Darwin, "living species were not created by God, but came from a common ancestor and differentiated from each other as a result of
natural conditions." Listen to an example given by the History Of Science Society, "Giraffes evolved from antelope–like creatures by extending there
necks further and further from generation to generation in order to reach higher and higher branches of food."
He said living creatures were passing the traits they had acquired during their lifetime from one generation to another, and therefore we evolving. I
think that it is safe to say the theories of Darwin were based on the power of imagination.
As we have seen, the Theory of evolution has not been based on any scientific evidence, or even been claimed by a scientist. Yet the theory has been
taught to students across the country as the truth.
Now that we have looked at the theory of evolution, lets take a look at the theory of

Creation vs. Evolution Creation vs evolution has always been a big topic. Christianity vs. evolution is mainly a question of where did we come from?
Or how has everything come into existence. Many people believe in evolution because they simply think it makes sense (which it does not) or because
they refuse to believe in Christianity. People who believe in Christianity believe in it by faith. The Bible is the main source of information on

Evolutionists spend a lot of their time trying to prove creation wrong and give out false fact when they should be trying to defend their own theory.
Evolution has a lot of loose ends that they do not try to tie up. Such as they ignore the fact that matter cannot be created or destroyed which throws
their theory out the window. They simply give a lot of long excuses to try to hide the fact that their wrong. That something cannot come from
nothing or the entire universe cannot just appear out of nothing. Or that evolution itself has a lot of misleading fact. Creation has all the evidence
it need in the Bible not to mention that there are a lot of scientific fact to prove Creation. The Bible is Gods way of communicating with his people
and he uses the Bible to communicate. In the Bible it says that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth which is plenty of evidence
for how the earth and all of creation was created. Evolutionists nor scientist can disprove that there is a God or if the Bible is true or not. But
scientists have disproven a lot of claimed facts and experiments of evolutionists. The Bible tells us that God and heaven is invisible and all we half
to do is believe in his existence. Like evolution people half to believe in evolution in order to see if it is true or

Creation vs. evolution has been a very large debate for a long time. People have been debating whether or not evolution was fact or fiction ever
since Charles Darwin published his theory of biological evolution in 1859 in his book, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or
the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life, or as it is most commonly known On the Origin of Species. There are several different
people in the world, each person having their own opinions on the matter. Because there are so many different people there are also many different
combinations of what they believe to be true. Despite the different beliefs, there are two main sides to this debate. The first side would be the people
who believe in evolution. The most common stance for this side is that all living things have evolved from a common ancestor. The second side is
made up of the people who believe in creationism. Creationism is the view that everything on earth was created by God. Viewing the definitions of the
two views, what is used as evidence, and how they hold up under scrutiny, shows that creationism makes more sense than evolution.
There are many different definitions of creationism. Some people believe that God created everything in the world but guided it through evolution.
Other people believe that everything happened as described in genesis. In general, Creationism is the belief that everything was created by God. The

"Creation Versus Evolution." What's wrong with this title? Read it to yourself a few times, and then answer that question.
We've all heard of the argument. Creationism, the idea that God created all the species as they appear today, versus Evolutionism, the idea that all life
evolved from simple bacteria to all the species that appear today, is a familiar controversy. Ever since Darwin first published theTheory of Evolution in

Given enough time, one species may develop such different characteristics as its ancestors possessed that it becomes considered as another species.
This assertion follows logically from the two principles of heredity and natural selection.
Yet when this assertion is made, religious people start to object to it. Notably within Christianity, only conservative Protestants seem to take issue with
Evolution; the more open–minded liberal Protestants find nothing wrong with the Theory, and the Catholic church officially recognizes Evolution as
scientific fact.
This is something I have always had difficulty in understanding. I suppose that these fundamentalist Protestants believe that the idea that species change
over time takes away from the meaningfulness of life. Particularly when you throw humans into the mix and make the claim that we evolve, just like
the animals, they object that classifying us as "just animals" somehow dehumanizes us or makes us seem less special as God's creation.
Yet I've read Genesis, the first book of the Christian Bible, and there seems to be nothing in it which contradicts with the idea that species– even
humans – change over time. The Bible describes how life was created, but it does not specify what happened after that. Thus it is consistent with
Biblical dogma to believe that after God created life, it evolved – either on its own or under the

Creation Vs. Evolution Debate
The vivid story of the creation account found in Genesis 1 and 2 often gets lost in the question of "how" rather than the question of "why." Desmond
Alexander points out that the creation story "often hijacked by those who are almost exclusively preoccupied by the modern debate on the relationship
between the biblical view of creation and that of contemporary science" (Alexander 119). Gary Schnittjer helps by adding, "Problems occur when
readers use the scriptures to answer their own questions–questions that the biblical text was not designed to answer" (Schnittjer 1048). The creation
story is not as much a detailed explanation of how the world was created, but rather a theological description of God's purpose and relationship in
creating humanity (Schnittjer 816). Even more, the Genesis account provides a means to interpret the rest of the "the story of which it is a part"
(Schnittjer...show more content...
I have come to realize this debate only leads to endless and meaningless conversations that miss the point. Even more, after this week's readings,
my eyes have been opened even wider to the wonder of the creation account. What stands out most vividly is God spoke the world into existence.
The power of his voice and the obedience of the cosmos are incredible. Yet even more amazing is that God did not speak man into existence, rather
he formed him with his hands and then breathed life into him. I knew that is what happened, but I had never picked up on the delicate and closeness
of God creating humanity. Also, it should be noted that man is the only thing that did not obey what God spoke to him, which led to the Fall. All in
all, Genesis 1 and 2 set the stage for all of Genesis by describing God's relationship with humanity and his desire to dwell among them, which will one
day be complete again with the return of

Creation Vs. Evolution Argument
The Creation versus Evolution argument is one of the most interesting debates; and conversely one that will never be resolved. The amount of
evidence pointing towards creation is fascinating, but also overwhelming from the large amounts of it. I think that the scientific cases for all the proofs
can be argued by both sides, and both require a large amount of faith to believe.
Earth location:
Earth is located in the Milky Way Galaxy in a very specific location. It's in the middle of two spiraling arms about two–thirds away from the center of
the galaxy. In those spiral arms are millions of stars that explode, and meteors that collide. For example we live in a zone known as the "Goldilocks"
zone, meaning that it's never too hot nor too cold....show more content...
Evolutionists say the canyon was formed over millions of years through a slow erosion of sedimentary rock and limestone. however, for all those
years of erosion, there is absolutely no evidence of where the sediments went. Another key difference to understanding how it was formed was the
way the river flows. The river flows uphill to the canyon, water will always flow on the path of least resistance so when it encounters a huge dam like
the Grand Canyon it will avoid it. I think the only logical explanation would have had to of been a massive amount of water rushing rapidly through and
carving a path, and spreading the sediments all throughout the region.
Second Law of Thermodynamics:
The second law of thermodynamics states that entropy will increase over a period of time, meaning that something will slowly decay. In fact this
would greatly disprove evolution. Evolutionists are saying that the natural world went from disorder to order. It's like a tornado going through a car
body shop and creating a car. Evolution says the earth is evolving. getting better, but ironically thermodynamics says the earth is supposed to be
breaking down. So if God had created the earth it would have been from something perfect and we are slowly falling apart, gradually decaying.

Evolution Vs Creation Vs Evolution

  • 1. Evolution Vs Creation Vs Evolution A very common question and debate for multiple years is, "What came first; the chicken or the egg?" Both evolution and creation make excellent counter–arguments against one another about how Earth came to be, and have also been argued against one another for many years. This paper will contain the topics of comparing evolution and creation; these topics are that they are both based on theories, Earth was one big continent, and natural selection. Along with those topics, there will be contrasts between evolution and creation; these topics will include chimpanzees versus god, science versus religion, and the last one is evolution and creation itself. The first topic is about how they are both based on theories. Creationists theory is that...show more content... Then, the last topic for comparison is natural selection. The definition of natural selection is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. The theory of its action was first fully expounded by Charles Darwin and is now believed to be the main process that brings about evolution. Darwin and Blyth's points on natural selection may differ but all is said that evolutionists and creationists believed that natural selection did occur, that it did take place no matter what some believed in. Now, about the contrasts of evolution and creation. One main topic is how we could have evolutionized from chimpanzees or that we could have been created by God. Genetic evidence suggests the ancestors of humans and chimpanzees diverged roughly 4 million years ago. The relative size of the chimp brain matches most of our extinct relatives, for a long time suggesting our ape cousin might be an ideal place to glimpse humanity 's origins ( Choi, Human Evolution: Our Closest Living Relatives). As Charles Q. Choi states that the genetic evidence is similar to human beings. "Emotionally and socially, the psychology of chimps is very similar to humans," said primatologist Frans de Waal at Emory University in Atlanta. For instance, he noted, chimps have shown they can help unrelated chimps and human strangers at personal cost Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Personal Narrative: Creation Vs. Evolution When I was in the 8th grade, my science teacher, Mr. H told us he was a Creationist. I personally believe in evolution and the two ideas seemed to be opposite. Our unit on how the Earth and it's creatures developed was towards the end of the year, and during this time, I gained a great respect for Mr. H. He is very intelligent and thoroughly evaluates and questions the information he sees. He was vastly knowledgeable on what he taught, and had the qualifications to teach at a much higher level than 8th grade science. When we got to the unit that would involve how the Earth developed, I went in with an open mind. I decided to listen to what he had to say, and to try to understand where he was coming from. What surprised me is that he presented Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Creation vs. Evolution Essay Today many scientists would have people to believe that evolution is the only reasonable explanation of the universe. Scientists, like Stephen Hawking, claim that they have proved that evolution is the correct answer to the origins of life and the universe, yet evolution is still a theory. This problem occurs because evolution is not the only answer. In fact, the creation theory offers a more feasible answer to the origins of the universe than the evolution theory does. Creation has the backings of the Bible, an extraordinarily credible book; where evolution provides a theory with many holes in it. Too frequently the Bible is considered a weak argument, but why? When using the Bible as a reference for any argument, the accuracy of the...show more content... Not only is the Old Testament historically accurate, but also the Old Testament demonstrates knowledge that is undiscovered for centuries after the Old Testament was written. Twice, in Genesis, God told Abraham that his descendants would be innumerable, just like the stars, but up until the time of Galileo, scholars still tried to count the stars. Today scientist know that there are over 100 billion stars in the universe, and counting them would require around the clock counting for 3000 years. For centuries the earth was not always thought of as spherical. Until the time of Magellan, no one was positive that the earth was round. Isaiah and David both mention the spherical shape of the earth. Recently scientists have discovered springs at the bottom of the ocean, but Job talks with God about the springs in the Ocean. The Old Testament is filled with scientific knowledge is has been proven (Pyles). There are countless examples of the Old Testament being correct scientifically, even when the knowledge of the subjects were limited. Why would the creation account be incorrect if the other accounts mentioned in the Old Testament were correct? Although scientist or philosophers did not write the Bible, God revealed this knowledge to the authors so the Bible would be indisputable. Skeptics tend to not credit the accuracy of the Bible and say that the creation narration is just not enough evidence. Evolutionists have theorized that the earth Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Creationism vs. Evolution Essay Where we come from is a question as old as mankind itself. There are countless numbers of religions, each with their own twist on the origins of earth and mankind, but one of the most highly visible debates would be creationism vs. evolution. Depending on where your beliefs lie, the Earth has been around somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,000 years to 4.5 billion years. One would tend to believe that this vast difference in time would make it impossible to have 2 "theories" that are so widely accepted. However this debate gives you just that. Each argument has its variations, however it comes down to either God created the Earth and all things in it as they are now or that life today has evolved from a...show more content... Under the same idea, the "Old Earth" train of thought is that the "days" mentioned in Genesis were actually up to many millions of years each. This is one of many "theories" that justifies the actual age of the Earth being around 4.5 billion years old. The third view states that the story of creation contained in Genesis is not a literal or even a chronological account of happenings. It is instead a guide promoting a six–day workweek with the seventh day a day of worship to God. The last view is much like the second, in that it considers the "days" to be God's workdays, which may or may not be equal to an Earth calendar day. Each day represents a period of time that God performed a major task. Each view has the same underlying concept that God created everything, and the way it is today, it the way it was when it was created. Webster's Dictionary defines evolution as a theory that the various types of animals and plants have their origin in other preexisting types and that the distinguishable differences are due to modification in successive generations. Like creation, evolution is not immune from differing of opinions. Evolution is split between two frames of though, naturalistic and theistic. Naturalistic evolution is pretty much cut and dry. It simply states that life started as a single one–celled organism. The universe was created 14 billion years ago, and the Earth was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Creation vs. Evolution Essay Creation vs. Evolution Since the publication of Darwin's Origin of Species in 1859, there has been a continuous debate in the United States regarding evolution and creation. Recently, this debate has intensified throughout America over the issue of whether or not to include creationism in thepublic school curriculum either in conjunction with evolution or as a replacement for the theory. With such a volatile subject being argued, there are other issues that are brought up at the same time. I find these side issues to the evolution/creation debate to be very perplexing. The many differing viewpoints that my friends, family, and the American public in general believe are incredibly interesting. There are varying strict...show more content... However, I found the truth of the matter to be that there are extremely different views that people have about the story of evolution and creation. People have not just "taken a side" and called themselves a strict creationist or an evolutionist; people have combined the two views into a personal idea that they created to support their beliefs in both science and the Bible. For example, I interviewed my closest friend from Oregon State University, Myron Kutch (real names were changed), about what he thought about evolution and creation. Kutch does not have the typical views that are accepted by the Catholic Church or his family. Instead he believes in an odd combination of science and religion. Kutch thinks that God created the earth within seven days according to the Bible. He believes that plant and animal life was created within these seven days by God, but has evolved since the time God put them on earth billions of years ago in order to survive. Kutch believes that "God created each kind of animal and that living thing evolved into different species. For example, God created several kinds of birds and those evolved into the kinds of birds we have today, such as sparrows." [1] He also believes that God created Adam and Eve as the first humans on earth, but that they were primitive forms of humans. He reasons that science has proved that humans, including Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Creation Vs Evolution According to the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development Committee, "The main purpose of the American school is to provide for the fullest possible development of each learner for living morally, creatively, and purposefully in a democratic society" (Platform of Beliefs 232). Most Americans are aware of one of the top controversial topics within the public education system: Evolution vs. Creation. When it comes to our universe's existence it gets very tricky. Many different viewpoints are brought up based on personal beliefs. The greatest question is: should students be taught only one way on this subject? Why offer only one side, one opinion? Given that evolution has not been proven, it should not be the lone required science...show more content... Borene dismissed the case of Rodney LeVake v Independent School District 656, et al. (Order Granting Defendants' Motion for Summary Judgment and Memorandum, Court File Nr. CX–99–793, District Court for the Third Judicial District of the State of Minnesota [2000]). High school biology teacher LeVake had argued for his right to teach "evidence both for and against the theory" of evolution. The school district considered the content of what he was teaching and concluded that it did not match the curriculum, which required the teaching of evolution. Given the large amount of case law requiring a teacher to teach the employing district's curriculum, the judge declared that LeVake did not have a free speech right to override the curriculum, nor was the district guilty of religious discrimination" (Matsumura and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Evolution vs. Creation Essay Don't Monkey Around in Class "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" (Gen. 1:1). Words of this nature have been questioned for thousands of years–by naturalists, materialists, humanists, etc.–and, in more recent times, have led to court cases, heated arguments, and public debates. The major debate intended to be covered in this piece is that of whether or not evolution should be taught in classrooms. Also, if it is to be taught, should it be taught as fact or theory? It is also intended to present enough evidence to disprove evolution altogether and, as a result, make it much less than a theory, but actually the vain opinions of a man who chose not to accept the truth....show more content... Organisms either appeared on the earth fully developed or they did not. If they did not, they must have developed from preexisting species by some form of modification. If they did appear in a fully developed state, they must indeed have been created by some omnipotent intelligence" (qtd. in Gish). Furthermore, if evolution were true, "there would be countless fossils of transitional forms...., millions of fossils showing various stages in the gradual transition of kinds of organisms into different kinds...., and 'missing links'" (Parker, et al, 367). "Charles Darwin himself recognized this problem: 'The number of intermediate varieties, which have formerly existed, must be truly enormous. Why then is not every geological formation and every stratum full of such intermediate links? Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely graduated organic chain; and this, perhaps is the most obvious and serious objection to the theory" (Parker, et al, 367). Darwin's doubts, however, do not stop there: "To suppose that the eye...could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree" (Parker, et al, 381). Also, with respect to transitional forms and the fact that the animal must be alive and fully functional during any change, he says, "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which by numerous, successive modifications, my theory would absolutely break down. • 8. Essay on Evolution VS. Creationism Since the beginning of the human race there has been a lingering question as to the origins of man and how all living things acquired their characteristics. The two main theories that arose over time were Creationism and Evolution, both of which provided very distinct answers to this question. Creationism based its answer on the idea of a supernatural power or being that created the entire universe, man and the numerous other organisms that live within it. While, Evolution theorizes that all living things have the potential to change and grow over time into something new and different. So in other words, one theory suggests that humans and all the organisms on Earth are the result of divine design, while the other indicates that they...show more content... Every one of these flaws points out that the Creationists theory that the Earth, all of the organisms on it, and everything that surrounds it has not changed or been altered since the flood is inaccurate. Biogeography for example shows that "closely allied" species have a tendency to live on the "same continent... or within the same group of oceanic islands... despite their species–by–species preferences for different habitats, food source, [and] of conditions of climate" (Quammen 4). The explanation for this is that "they descended from common ancestors" and this can be verified with the paleontology flaw because that flaw deals with the fossils of plants and animals "that had [either] become extinct or that still existed but in different forms" which indicates not only that organisms have changed over time, but also provides evidence that "closely allied" organism have lived in the same areas of centuries (Quammen 4; Parks 24). Then in the taxonomic classification flaw these "closely allied" spices can be "systematically classified, according to their shared similarities" which, suggests that "closely allied" organisms descended from common ancestor because of the traits and similar organs that allows this type of classification (Quammen 5). The presence of these similar traits and organs introduces the flaw of vestigial characteristics because although some of these do not have any current Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay on Creation vs. Evolution Creation vs. Evolution Ever since the publication of Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species was published there has been an ongoing debate between science and religion. Scientists have formulated many theories as to the origins of man and to the creation of the earth, whereas religious groups have one main creation theory, based on the "Genesis" story of The Bible. These theories, however, are not the cause of the debate because the different theories are simply myths meant to explain the unknown–– the debate is caused by different belief systems. According to a November 1997 Gallup poll 44% of the people that responded agreed that God created human beings in their present form at one time...show more content... The creationist arguments can be summed up in one example from the Morris – Parker book. They state "Evolution is claimed to be 'scientific,' and still going on, so it seems like it should be observable and measurable. Yet after 150 years of intense study of biological variations, evolutionists are still completely in the dark about the supposed mechanism of evolution. This fact surely is cause for beginning to doubt the

Words such as 'claimed', 'should be', and 'supposed' are very powerful, but they don't give examples as to where and who claimed or supposed these things, nor do they seem to understand evolution. In 150 years, the evolutionary change that would occur is insignificant, so it is very difficult to see such changes in such a short period of time, because they are completely ignoring the evolutionary time scale. Also, they don't acknowledge that biologists have seen evolution occur, as in the case of moth's wings changing color for protection against their prey. Morris and Parker are also blatantly attacking evolution as a science and as a fact (303). When Edward Larson did his research for his book Summer for the Gods: The Scopes trial and America's Continuing Debate over Science and Religion, he found that the overall 95% of scientists admitted that they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Creation vs. Evolution Essay Creation vs. Evolution There has always been a conflict between the religious world and the scientific world. Whether it be when science first challenged that the earth was not the center of the universe as dictated by the Church, or when it was discovered that the earth was round rather than flat. Both these "theories" today are widely accepted and the rest of society generally ridicules any persons that believe the earth is the center of the universe or that the world is flat. However, at the time of their discovery, there was massive outcry by the religious community, as they believed it contradicted the "facts" in the bible. The religious community has always been wary of new scientific...show more content... Rather both evolution and creation are both correct, but simply two sides of the same coin. In 1992 New York Times took a poll in which about half of all Americans believe that God created humans pretty much the way they appear now. At the same time, the vast majority of the scientific community supports the theory of evolution. There are two reasons for this discrepancy. Firstly, most of the general public is not fully aware of what evolution is. And secondly, the religious ideals that have been ingrained in North American society dictates the one creator God, and therefore most people refuse to believe in evolution. To emphasize this difference in opinion, I will explain some of the extreme beliefs on both the creationist side and the evolutionist side. Much of the religious world (Christians, Jews and Muslims) believe that the world was created pretty much the way it is today. The reason they believe this is due to their literal understanding of the Bible. Many believe that "…the story of Creation, written [in the bible] long before all others is completely accurate"(Cooper 45). Furthermore, they believe that "[n]othing could be so exact and descriptive" (Cooper 45). According to Genesis 1–3, God created the world in six days. This "theory", is what's being taught to our children in school. If a child asks a teacher about the theory of Creation, they are sure to get a response like, "I'm not allowed to answer that question", or something along those lines, because schools are not allowed to teach on religious subjects. I guess schools think that evolution is the next best thing. I believe that the world was created by God! Ever since I have been in high school I have questioned the theory of evolution. We are going to look at the theory of evolution and where the theory originated. We will also look at the theory of...show more content... Materialistic philosophy is a philosophy that places materialistic goods above spiritual values; this type of philosophy is what produced the theory of evolution. The person who put forth the theory of evolution the way it is defined today, was an amateur English Naturalist, Charles Robert Darwin. According Darwin, "living species were not created by God, but came from a common ancestor and differentiated from each other as a result of natural conditions." Listen to an example given by the History Of Science Society, "Giraffes evolved from antelope–like creatures by extending there necks further and further from generation to generation in order to reach higher and higher branches of food." He said living creatures were passing the traits they had acquired during their lifetime from one generation to another, and therefore we evolving. I think that it is safe to say the theories of Darwin were based on the power of imagination. As we have seen, the Theory of evolution has not been based on any scientific evidence, or even been claimed by a scientist. Yet the theory has been taught to students across the country as the truth. Now that we have looked at the theory of evolution, lets take a look at the theory of

  • 14. Creation Vs Evolution Essay Creation vs. Evolution Creation vs evolution has always been a big topic. Christianity vs. evolution is mainly a question of where did we come from? Or how has everything come into existence. Many people believe in evolution because they simply think it makes sense (which it does not) or because they refuse to believe in Christianity. People who believe in Christianity believe in it by faith. The Bible is the main source of information on Christianity. Evolution is a theory that the world and everything we know today came to be by chance or accident. The people who believe in evolution believe in it the same way that Christians believe in Christianity by Faith. Evolutionists spend a lot of their time trying to prove creation wrong and give out false fact when they should be trying to defend their own theory. Evolution has a lot of loose ends that they do not try to tie up. Such as they ignore the fact that matter cannot be created or destroyed which throws their theory out the window. They simply give a lot of long excuses to try to hide the fact that their wrong. That something cannot come from nothing or the entire universe cannot just appear out of nothing. Or that evolution itself has a lot of misleading fact. Creation has all the evidence it need in the Bible not to mention that there are a lot of scientific fact to prove Creation. The Bible is Gods way of communicating with his people and he uses the Bible to communicate. In the Bible it says that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth which is plenty of evidence for how the earth and all of creation was created. Evolutionists nor scientist can disprove that there is a God or if the Bible is true or not. But scientists have disproven a lot of claimed facts and experiments of evolutionists. The Bible tells us that God and heaven is invisible and all we half to do is believe in his existence. • 15. As we have learned in class and as we still see now in the modern world, the topic of evolution vs creationism has been one of much dispute. To many, there is only one side; you either believe in God or in Science, you either believe that Adam and Eve are our ancestors or you believe that through the years and the changes in the world we have evolved from apes. Whichever side you find yourself on there will always be someone that disagrees with you and is willing to tell you why you are wrong. Similarly, to the Scopes Trials in 1925; Edward Humes, an award–winning journalist wrote Monkey Girl: Evolution, Education,Religion, and the Battle for America's Soul; on the 2005 Scopes Monkey trials in Dover, Pennsylvania. These trials focused on the school board's requirement of including Intelligent design as a counter to evolution in biology courses and eleven parents arguing that the change was like forcing creationist ideas on their children. Those who sided with the school rejected evolution but didn't have an actual explanation as to why it was wrong other than that it was just not the truth. For example,Bill Buckingham, school board member who as Humes writes, "was set up as the villain in the drama (Humes, p.310);" only believed in that America was founded on religion and he completely rejected evolution without even knowing enough on either of them (Humes, p.310–311). Although in the end Buckingham and his supporters did lose the trial, it did not hide the fact that there will always be a disagreement when it comes to whether teaching evolution and not religion in schools is Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Some of the ideas and theories we all have are Creation and Evolution. Creation is the belief that god was the one that created the world and all the living animals and plants that are known today. On the hand Evolution is the theory that is based on the idea that all species are related and gradually change over time [ what is Evolution? Later in Darwin's research he discovered that all animals are different shapes and sizes and different couloirs and come with different uses. Darwin proposed common descent and a branching tree of life, this meaning that two very different species could share a common ancestor. I don't believe that creation could have caused two human beings to come out of nowhere, however I don't believe evolution could have happened have happened without creation. I also believe that the science for Evolution exists to show us how evolution is possible, and then the bible states how God create human–kind. Is the bible right? • 18. Creation vs evolution Creation vs. evolution has been a very large debate for a long time. People have been debating whether or not evolution was fact or fiction ever since Charles Darwin published his theory of biological evolution in 1859 in his book, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life, or as it is most commonly known On the Origin of Species. There are several different people in the world, each person having their own opinions on the matter. Because there are so many different people there are also many different combinations of what they believe to be true. Despite the different beliefs, there are two main sides to this debate. The first side would be the people who believe in evolution. The most common stance for this side is that all living things have evolved from a common ancestor. The second side is made up of the people who believe in creationism. Creationism is the view that everything on earth was created by God. Viewing the definitions of the two views, what is used as evidence, and how they hold up under scrutiny, shows that creationism makes more sense than evolution. There are many different definitions of creationism. Some people believe that God created everything in the world but guided it through evolution. Other people believe that everything happened as described in genesis. In general, Creationism is the belief that everything was created by God. The main type of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Creation Versus Evolution Creation Versus Evolution "Creation Versus Evolution." What's wrong with this title? Read it to yourself a few times, and then answer that question. We've all heard of the argument. Creationism, the idea that God created all the species as they appear today, versus Evolutionism, the idea that all life evolved from simple bacteria to all the species that appear today, is a familiar controversy. Ever since Darwin first published theTheory of Evolution in his controversial 1859 book The Origin of Species, the debate has raged between religion and science. But this debate is something that has always puzzled me. From the time I first understood what the Theory of Evolution was really saying, I found it difficult to reject....show more content... Given enough time, one species may develop such different characteristics as its ancestors possessed that it becomes considered as another species. This assertion follows logically from the two principles of heredity and natural selection. Yet when this assertion is made, religious people start to object to it. Notably within Christianity, only conservative Protestants seem to take issue with Evolution; the more open–minded liberal Protestants find nothing wrong with the Theory, and the Catholic church officially recognizes Evolution as scientific fact. This is something I have always had difficulty in understanding. I suppose that these fundamentalist Protestants believe that the idea that species change over time takes away from the meaningfulness of life. Particularly when you throw humans into the mix and make the claim that we evolve, just like the animals, they object that classifying us as "just animals" somehow dehumanizes us or makes us seem less special as God's creation. Yet I've read Genesis, the first book of the Christian Bible, and there seems to be nothing in it which contradicts with the idea that species– even humans – change over time. The Bible describes how life was created, but it does not specify what happened after that. Thus it is consistent with Biblical dogma to believe that after God created life, it evolved – either on its own or under the

  • 21. Creation Vs. Evolution Debate The vivid story of the creation account found in Genesis 1 and 2 often gets lost in the question of "how" rather than the question of "why." Desmond Alexander points out that the creation story "often hijacked by those who are almost exclusively preoccupied by the modern debate on the relationship between the biblical view of creation and that of contemporary science" (Alexander 119). Gary Schnittjer helps by adding, "Problems occur when readers use the scriptures to answer their own questions–questions that the biblical text was not designed to answer" (Schnittjer 1048). The creation story is not as much a detailed explanation of how the world was created, but rather a theological description of God's purpose and relationship in creating humanity (Schnittjer 816). Even more, the Genesis account provides a means to interpret the rest of the "the story of which it is a part" (Schnittjer...show more content... Even more, after this week's readings, my eyes have been opened even wider to the wonder of the creation account. What stands out most vividly is God spoke the world into existence. The power of his voice and the obedience of the cosmos are incredible. Yet even more amazing is that God did not speak man into existence, rather he formed him with his hands and then breathed life into him. I knew that is what happened, but I had never picked up on the delicate and closeness of God creating humanity. Also, it should be noted that man is the only thing that did not obey what God spoke to him, which led to the Fall. All in all, Genesis 1 and 2 set the stage for all of Genesis by describing God's relationship with humanity and his desire to dwell among them, which will one day be complete again with the return of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 22. Creation Vs. Evolution Argument The Creation versus Evolution argument is one of the most interesting debates; and conversely one that will never be resolved. The amount of evidence pointing towards creation is fascinating, but also overwhelming from the large amounts of it. I think that the scientific cases for all the proofs can be argued by both sides, and both require a large amount of faith to believe. Earth location: Earth is located in the Milky Way Galaxy in a very specific location. It's in the middle of two spiraling arms about two–thirds away from the center of the galaxy. In those spiral arms are millions of stars that explode, and meteors that collide. For example we live in a zone known as the "Goldilocks" zone, meaning that it's never too hot nor too cold....show more content... Evolutionists say the canyon was formed over millions of years through a slow erosion of sedimentary rock and limestone. however, for all those years of erosion, there is absolutely no evidence of where the sediments went. Another key difference to understanding how it was formed was the way the river flows. The river flows uphill to the canyon, water will always flow on the path of least resistance so when it encounters a huge dam like the Grand Canyon it will avoid it. I think the only logical explanation would have had to of been a massive amount of water rushing rapidly through and carving a path, and spreading the sediments all throughout the region. Second Law of Thermodynamics: The second law of thermodynamics states that entropy will increase over a period of time, meaning that something will slowly decay. In fact this would greatly disprove evolution. Evolutionists are saying that the natural world went from disorder to order. It's like a tornado going through a car body shop and creating a car. Evolution says the earth is evolving. getting better, but ironically thermodynamics says the earth is supposed to be breaking down. So if God had created the earth it would have been from something perfect and we are slowly falling apart, gradually decaying. Soft Get more content on HelpWriting.net
