Main Directions
The Direction tell us where something
is
Direction is the
position towards
which someone or
something moves
or faces
There are 4
main directions.
North (N)
East (E)
South ( S)
West (W)
The North is
indicated in maps and
in house plans by the
notation “N”.
Compass
A compass
can be
used to
accurately
find the
directions
from a
given
position.
1. When a compass is
placed on a flat
surface, the red needle
points in the direction
of the North
2. When the compass is
rotated such that the
letter N is aligned with
the point of the red
needle.
3. The remaining directions
also indicated by the
compass.

The horizontal & the Vertical
A Horizontal line
is one which
runs from left
or right across
the page.

Vertical line
is one which runs
from top or
bottom through
the page. (Y)
