This study analyzed the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in kidney stone formers over a median 19 year follow-up period by matching kidney stone disease (KSD) patients to non-KSD patients. The study found that KSD patients had a higher risk of developing UTIs, with 155 KSD patients developing UTIs. The risk varied based on stone composition, with calcium oxalate and urate stone formers having higher risks of UTIs than other stone types.
