The pharmaceutical industry discovers, develops, produces, and
markets drugs or pharmaceutical drugs for use as medications to be
administered to patients,
Their aim is to cure the patients, vaccinate them, or alleviate the
symptoms.
The Government started to encourage the growth of drug
manufacturing by Indian companies in the early 1960s
Indian companies carved a niche in both the Indian and world markets
with their expertise in reverse-engineering new processes for
manufacturing drugs at low costs which became the advantage for
industry.
This company has 45 manufacturing units all together. And huge

3. BRIEF ABOUT THE SUN PHARMA
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited is an Indian Multinational company
headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
It manufactures and sells pharmaceutical formulations and active
pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) primarily in India and the United States.
Sun Pharmaceuticals was established by Mr. Dilip Shanghvi in 1983 in Vapi
Gujarat. with five products to treat psychiatry ailments.
Cardiology products were introduced in 1987.
SUN is the largest pharmaceutical company in India and the 5th largest
globally.
Sun Pharma stood second in the India's Most Reputed Brands
(Pharmaceutical) list .
4. A CASE STUDY OF THE INDUSTRY
Due to the large number of the employees working in the industry, they were suffering
from a drop in productivity. They were looking for a solution to optimize resource
planning for their internal travel desk.
Sun pharma had no centralized process management task team . The admin
dempartment lacked coordination across geographies.
They took the help of affle (Tech based company) for the centralized travel desk
application with easy access on mobile.
Affle company made easy to use app which had to be used by both skilled labour and
unskilled labour.
This app was very helpful for the use of hierarchy management , where in managers
could access and supervise their team member’s travel routines and expenses and also
make bookings on their behalf.
This app is useful for the employees because the employees can book tickets from
anywhere.
After providing this service they found that performance of the employees is getting
improved
6. WHAT ARE INCENTIVES?
A thing that motivates or encourages someone to do something.
An incentive is an object, item of value, or desired action or event that motivates an
employee to do more of whatever was encouraged by the employer through the
chosen incentive.
Compensation incentives may include items such as raises, bonuses, profit sharing,
signing bonus, and stock options.
Recognition incentives include actions such as thanking employees, praising employees,

accomplishment at a company meeting.

7. SUN PHARMA INCENTIVE POLICY
As pharmaceutical companies become increasingly focused on retaining key sales
people, they continually consider ways to leverage variable compensation
(incentive programs and rewards and recognition programs) as a strategic tool for
maximizing the return on their investment in top talent.
Fixed compensation – The fixed salaries of the company’s personnel shall be
competitive and based on the individual personnel’s respnosniblities and
performance .
Variable Compensation – The personnel of the company may be paid by the way
of variavle salaries based on their performance evaluation. Such variable salaries
should be based on the performance of the individual against his short and long
term performance objectives.
Share based payments – The board may, on the recommendation of the NRC,
Issue to certain class of personnel a share and share price related incentive
program.
8. Non monetary benefits- Senior management personnel of the
company may, on a case to case basis be awarded customary
non monetary benefits such as discounted salary advance/credit
facility ,rent free accommodation ,reimbursement of various bills,
etc.
Gratuity/Group insurance- employee may be awarded with
Group insurance protection. Further as required by the law
necessary gratuity shall be paid.
Commission –The directors may be paid commission if approved
by the shareholders . The shareholders may authorise the board
to declare commission to be paid to any director of the board .
