Algon was a great hunter and during the day, he stumbled across a circle cut in the prairie grass. Seeing a willow basket plummet to the ground, he
quickly hid behind a nearby bush to watch as twelve beautiful women left the basket. The twelve maidens immediately began singing heavenly songs
and dancing around the circle. As Algon was watching the ladies, his eyes fell onto the youngest of the twelve and in an instant, he fell in love with the
mysterious sky– girl. Algon swiftly ran toward the girl hoping to take her away with him, but failed to grab her because the maidens ran inside the
basket and flew up to the sky. Algon tried three times to take the sky–girl but she kept getting away so he devised a plan. At the circle in the prairie
grass he deposited an unfilled or hollow tree trunk near the circle and inside the tree were dozens of mice. Algon took some of his magical charms
out of his bag and transformed himself into a mouse. Him and the rest of the mice ran toward the twelve girls and in fright, the maidens killed all of
the mice except Algon. He transformed himself back into a human and took the sky– girl with him, where they ran to his village. Over time the girl fell
in love with Algon and soon they married and had a son. As the years passed the sky– girl became homesick and yearned to return to her sisters and
