2. Welcome to BCC’s Veteran Affairs Office
 Our Veteran Affairs Office works with over 110 veterans attending classes and
receiving education benefits.
 These include referrals for counseling for financial, vocational and
academic problems; veterans work-study job information; and important
information about resources available to them at the college.
 This office acts as a direct connection from BCC to the Veterans
Administration Regional Office in Buffalo specifically for payment benefits.

3. Veteran’s Education Benefits
 It is the responsibility of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to approve
applications and make decisions regarding payment, issuance of checks, and
eligibility.
 The usage of the GI Bill is administered through the Department of Veteran
Affairs.

4. How To Apply For A VA Education Benefit
 Before you apply, check the GI Bill Road Map for Success.
 Be sure all forms have been finished and submitted in order to complete
application for SUNY Broome.
 Every new semester here, you will need to return to the Veteran and Military
Affairs Office to activate benefits as soon as you register for class.

6. Acquiring Military Transcripts and
Transfer Credits
 Both veterans and dependents of veterans applying for financial benefits must
submit official transcripts from all previous colleges/universities for
evaluation.
 Request an official copy of your military transcripts be sent to SUNY Broome’s
registrar office. They are available on the Veteran and Military Affairs Office
website.
 All of the forms needed are on the website.
