3. On January 19, 2023, we
interviewed Ma'am Francia
Mirabel at their house in
Banuyo, Pilar, Sorsogon. She
is a retired social worker and
such a great public servant
here in our Municipality of
Pilar.
5. The interviewee was asked by several
questions about the field of social work
specifically experiences, skills and
knowledge, roles and responsibilities, and
so on. Prior to this, the letter of request to
conduct the interview was prepared and
given to the interviewee. Afterwards, the
interviewers have complied with the set
appointment. They then began to greet
interviewee, tell their names and purpose.
7. QUESTION #1:
→ WHEN DID YOU START WORKING AS A SOCIAL WORKER IN THIS
AGENCY?
ANSWER:
→ I started working as a social worker in the Department of
Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on January 4,
1982. But due to devolution under R.A. 7160 otherwise known
as the Local Goverment Code was transferred from National
Agency to Local Government Unit (LGU) and now is the
MWSD.
8. QUESTION #2:
→ What are your roles and
responsibilities?
→ What program do you handle?
9. ANSWER:
→ I ensure delivery of Basic Social Welfare Programs and Services of the needy
disadvantaged sectors and implement appropriate measures to alleviate their
problems and improved their living conditions.
These are the factors that I handled on Welfare Programs:
- Family and Elderly Welfare Program
- Women Welfare Program (VAWC)
- PWD and Elderly Welfare Program
- Children and Youth Welfare Program
• Day Care Program
• Assistance to Victims of Abuse and Exploitation
• R.A. 9344 Juvenile Justice Welfare (Minor)
- Assistance to Victims of Calamities Natural or Manmade
10. QUESTION #3:
→ What skills, knowledge, and values must a social worker possess?
ANSWER:
→ For skills, I handing and working with people to promote their growth and with
the ability to start a professional relationship. I also have this skill in interviewing
clients to identify their needs and creative in finding solutions to meet their needs.
As to knowledge - I have the ability to link or connect needed services and resources
and able to record observations, interviews or a documentation that answers the 5W
and 1H. Also I can summarize programs, activities, and events to devise learning and
insights with ability and lastly, to synthesize lessons learned from work experiences.
As to values or attitude - with the willingness and openness to improve,
hardworking, punctuality in attendance in meetings and other agency activities, and
with conscious use of self.
11. QUESTION #4:
How do you see yourself as a social worker?
ANSWER:
I’m feeling happy, contented, and satisfied in my
RETIREMENT as a social worker.

What challenges do you encouter as a social
worker?
ANSWER:
→ Mostly during disaster operations
because we connot please everybody to do
things.

What education and training do you
need to enhance your work?
ANSWER:
→ NO MORE because as what I’ve said
I’m now on my retirement stage.
