Carol O'Brien has worked in various roles in the medical field including as a medical secretary, customer service representative, and now as a medical billing specialist. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in Health Information Technology and began her career in medical billing and coding by collecting past due accounts and coding medical claims. Currently, she is studying for her certification as a professional coder and enjoys spending time with her husband going to movies and traveling around Florida.

Department at Hillsborough Correctional Institution
in 1998 to 2000.
3. LOOKING FOR BETTER WORKING
CONDITIONS
I worked at Home Depot Contact Center as a
customer service representative from 2001 to 2003.
I was promoted in 2003, creating special orders for
blinds, wallpaper, and flooring.
4. WHEN THE CONTACT CENTER CLOSED,
I DECIDED TO GO TO SOUTHWEST
FLORIDA COLLEGE
I wanted to combine my skills in order writing, and
accounting, so I decided to Major in medical
administration with medical billing and coding.
5. I GRADUATED IN DECEMBER 2011
Received my degree in Health Information
Technology.
6. First Job in Medical billing and coding began with Primedbilling LLC
in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
I started working with Accounts Receivables calling 300 to 700 calls
a day collecting past due accounts. When no response to phone
calls, the patient was placed in collections.
I was promoted to coding 1500 medical claims for multiple
physicians with revenue from 20,000 to 30,000 dollars per practice.

CERTIFICATION PROFESSIONAL CODER. I
TAKE THE EXAM IN SEPTEMBER 2015.

Accurately coding ICD-9 and CPT codes to 1500 form.
Reviewing all information before sending to clearinghouse.
Adjusting any discrepancies before sending to third party insurance
carriers.
