I am very pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Mr. Carlos Perez, Jr. in support of
employment at your district. I have known Carlos for approximately three years in his capacity
as Assistant to the Superintendent for Administration & Human Resources for the Roslyn Union
Free School District (the “Roslyn District”). As a member of the Roslyn District Board of
Education, I have worked with Carlos on educational, operational and financial matters
associated with the District.
Carlos is a dedicated and committed individual who is driven to continuously learn, be
challenged and embark on unchartered territories. He is not reluctant in Roslyn District Board
meetings to present his assessments and observations, and recommend reasoned strategies for
achieving the board’s goals and objectives. He is especially skilled at developing creative
staffing strategies that promote the fiscal wellness of a district. This ability stems from his
strong reasoning and analytic skills learned throughout his tenure with the Roslyn District.
Throughout my interaction with Carlos, he has demonstrated a willingness to go to extraordinary
lengths to assist the team and his direct reports. He has coached and guided members of the
team with respect to federal and state regulatory compliance related to staffing, as well as
professional and general advice on career development.
Carlos also understands discretion. When faced with political situations, he has displayed
nothing but sensitivity and professionalism. He skillfully recognizes when to seek and obtain
the guidance and participation of others to minimize potential volatile situations. In addition, he
understands when he must be “tough” to obtain outcomes desired by the Roslyn Board, and how
to soften his approach to create a cohesive environment.
