Religious precepts
• Prayers are required before sunrise, at noon, mid afternoon, shortly after
sunset and finally at night. Before prayer, a devout Muslim must rid himself
of physical and spiritual impurities by performing ablutions called wudu.
Religious precepts
• All Muslims need to pay an alms tax called zakah. Traditionally, Muslim's
annual income beyond that is given to a representative of the mosque to feed
the poor and other charitable deeds.
Religious precepts
Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan: Muslims abstain from eating,
drinking and many other things from sunrise to sunset.
Religious precepts
• The pilgrimage to Mecca, that is required of all Muslims physically to
perform it. This pilgrimage takes place in the first 10 days of the Islamic
month of Dhu al-Hijjah and involves some rites. Pilgrims are dressed in
typically white clothes to symbolize the humility and equality among
believers ; they theoretically must visit the Plain of Arafat; sacrifice an animal
at Mina; visit the Ka'bah for a second time; drink from the well of Zamzam;
and pray at the Station of Abraham
Religious precepts
• The proclamation of faith, is said by all Muslims to signal their status as a
believer and their membership in the Uhmmad. People recite the shahadah as
they join the faith. The first proclamation is that affirmation that “There is
no God but Allah,” and second, that “Muhammad is his messenger.”
Muhammad
• Muhammad (570-632) was from Mecca, a city near the Red Sea. An orphan
from childhood, Muhammad was raised by an uncle, and became a merchant.
Muhammad was a religious man, often going to pray to the Mount Hira.
During one of these prayers, he had a vision of the angel Gabriel, who gave
Muhammad a revelation from Allah. Muhammad reported having several
other revelations from Allah as well.
The end 
