What are the Informational Interviews? The informational
interviews are brief meetings between law firm attendees and
representatives from corporate and government legal departments to
discuss outside counsel opportunities. The interviews are 15-minute
consecutive sessions held during designated times on Thursday and
Friday of the conference. A ballroom is reserved for the interviews, and
each interviewing company has an interview booth. A list of interviewing
companies can be found online at www.TexasBar.com/TMCP.
Expectations Although the TMCP is an excellent opportunity to
network and form new business relationships, the conference is not a
job fair, nor is there any guarantee that work will be received as a result
of the interview process. We provide opportunities for diverse outside
counsel to discuss their practice areas with corporate/government
representatives. This introduction could be the first step for you and your
firm to be considered for future work.
What is Pre-Selection? Pre-selection allows interviewing
representatives to review résumés of TMCP attendees prior to the
conference and to choose those who may have the skill sets needed
by their organization, either now or in the future. Notification of pre-
selections is emailed at least one week prior to the conference. Law firm
attendees who miss the résumé submission deadline or are not pre-
selected may sign up on-site for open time slots.

What Is On-Site Sign-Up? Outside counsel attendees have the
opportunity to sign up on-site for open time slots in an interviewing
company’s schedule. On-site sign-up is available on a first-come, first-
served basis for two interviews, one on Thursday and one on Friday. We
provide a list of the interviewing companies’ preferred practice areas to
facilitate a match between law firm attendees’ areas of expertise and a
company’s outside counsel hiring interests.
Registering and Submitting Your Résumé Law firm attendees
interested in participating in the informational interviews should select
the option when registering for the conference. You will receive a receipt
via email which will include a link to upload: (1) a personal résumé,
and (2) a firm résumé, including a narrative description of your firm’s
practice, area(s) of expertise, and all office locations. If your personal
résumé already includes this information you may omit the firm résumé.
To be considered for pre-selection, résumé(s) must be received by the
early registration deadline. Corporate and government representatives
interested in conducting interviews on behalf of their company should
complete the registration form in the TMCP Sponsor & Interviewer
brochure found online at www.TexasBar.com/TMCP.
What are the Training Sessions? 15-minute training sessions
will be held on Thursday and Friday of the conference for the in-house
counsel who will be conducting interviews and the outside counsel who
will be interviewing. Attendees will learn tips and hear advice on how to
make the most of the interview time.
