• Symbols of Ireland
Flag: You probably see the country flag everywhere. It has
three colors and is known as "The Irish Tricolour". The green
color represents Christianity, the orange the Protestant
religions and the white color symbolizing peace, harmony and
unity. The flag refers to the history of the country.
Shamrock: The clover that three leaves is a very important
symbol because it was used by Saint Patrick, the patron saint
of Ireland, to teach the Holy Trinity, the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit to the pagan population.
3. • Leprechaun: The Leprechaun is a folk figure of
Ireland, which is also one of the most famous
symbols of the country and known all over the
world. Leprechauns are goblins, guardians or
connoisseurs of the location of hidden
treasures, including pots of gold hidden at the
end of the rainbow.
• Harp: It is said that King Brian Boru guided the
army into battle carrying a harp. The harp is also
the official national emblem of the Republic of
Ireland and can be found in the country's coins.
• You will also find as a symbol of the Guinness
brewery.
4. • St.Patrick's Day:
• St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated annually
on March 17, the anniversary of his
death in the fifth century. The Irish have
observed this day as a religious holiday
for over 1,000 years. On St. Patrick’s
Day, which falls during the Christian
season of Lent, Irish families would
traditionally attend church in the
morning and celebrate in the afternoon.
Lenten prohibitions against the
consumption of meat were waived and
people would dance, drink and feast–on
the traditional meal of Irish bacon and
cabbage.
