Movies of the 1920's
Film production in the 1920's was when the movie business expanded immensly. With new technologies creating movie theaters, film makers were
able to let the public see the movies they made. Movie theatres were large and a very common place to go to during the 1920's also known as the
"Roaring 20's". With this new increase of movies, actors and actresses are needed, therefore making them incredibly weathly. The 1920's started the
birth of sound in films called "talkies". Entertainment in the 1920's expanded quickly and was dominating.
The top four movies of the Roaring 1920's are first "Metropolis", which is a movie about a utopian society that has divided people as the working
class or the city planners. The workers were underground operating machinery for the uptown , the city above, and a city planner found out the
horrible conditions the workers were in. Together the city planner and workers take over Metropolis (Storyline of Meteropolis). The second most
popular movie is "Nosferatu" a movie about a vampire named Count Orlok who buys a...show more content...
During the 1920's actors and actresses were admired greatly and had a great pay. Charlie Chaplin , a famous silent actor, is still known today and
able to survive nearly a century. There were many actors during the 1920's trying to make their career even bigger. The most famous actors begin
with Gary Cooper. He has starred in many movies such as "Sergeant York" and "High Moon", both which won an Acedemy Award Winner for Best
Actor. He was in silent films but during the transition to films with sound , he had to learn to speak with good dictation adn sdjusted. Unlike many
actors during the decline of silemt films who had to quit, he was able to adapt . John Barrymore is another actor who survived the silent film decline. In

Descriptive Essay About Cinema
If you love movies and the theatre's that show them then read no further. For I'm about to tell you haunts me. We are to go on a journey one for
those that enjoys watching movies and going to theaters to see them will be a difficult one. The Place I am talking about is the dreaded Frank
Theatre Coastal Cinemas. This is by far the worst establishment I have ever been to in my life. It is 34,888 SF, was built in 2003 and is only one
story tall. This horror show of a building is nested right off Ocean High Way 17 West in the small town of Shallotte NC. The address is 5,200
Bridges Road, zip code 28470. I will later get into the details of why I detest this place so much but first let me tell you about the exterior and
interior of the theatre. When you first drive into the parking lot you will notice the parking, lot has ample space to fit the movies goers who visit
it. The exterior is made up of two different tones of brick. The one that stands out the most is the darker shade of sandy brown and the other a
lighter color. The name on the front is Coastal Cinemas their color a faded red due to sun exposure through the years. In between the name is a wave
the color once a light blue but sun exposure has faded its color as well. There are four palm trees out in front of the building two on the left and two
on the right. The movie showcases that are currently playing line the walls of the front building, and nestled right in the middle in the ticket booth.

Essay on Bollywood Movies
Bollywood movies are very popular for the "Romance" portrayed in their plot. Romance in Bollywood has evolved throughout the ages. But the one
thing, that has remained constant are the unofficial and official ban on any depiction that may suggest something which is not a part of the "Indian"
culture. Westernization was always shown as something negative and alien. Let's have a closer look at how Hindi cinema deals with this censorship
code that has been set up. Bollywood adopted a new way to recreate the same passion that usually a 'kiss' would generate; they substitute these by
song and dance routines. Songs are basically a description of the passionate seen with no suggestive visual imagery to aid it. It's left to the audiences'

For example in Shree 420(1950), Maya the female antagonist is shown as rich, westernized women, with no moral values. She is shown to wear
explicitly revealing clothes and have short hair. She drinks alcohol and also smokes. Flirting with men and dancing while inappropriately clad
around them, are also the other negative qualities she embodies. However, Vidya is the female protagonist who is completely the opposite, she's
traditional and educated. Responsibilities that she holds are looking after her disabled father and running a school. Her hair is long and she is
always traditionally dressed in saris. The contrasting visual imagery of Vidya and Maya lets the audience make a judgment of who portrays the
negative character quite clearly. Do not fail to notice that this outward depiction of good and bad is only in terms of the women. Raj the male lead
of the movie Shree 420, goes through a phase of corruption and greed, however, he is ultimately forgiven and given the benefit of the doubt. This
leads me to my next point about how 'Women" are sacrificed in movies just to pass out a social message. The message clearly states that any act
which is not "culturally accepted" will have bad consequences. In the movie Kati Patang, you are taken through the story of Madhavi, who runs away
to be with her lover on the day of her wedding. From that very moment, she encounters a series of unfortunate events. A secondary character from

My Greatest Movies Essay
There are remarkably multiple amazing movies to choose from.If I had to pick 10 of the greatest films of all time they would include suspense and
action. The list of movies that I have picked out are in my opinion the greatest films of all time. In the cinema, there are hundreds and hundreds of
memorable moments and scenes from many films. The reason behind this is because the ten movies that I have picked out have compelled me to
''relive'' the moment. Therefore they give me a memory that I will hold on to.
If a movie changes you mine it's not because of your reasoning it's because of your emotions that you feel towards the movie. My 10 greatest films
must be films that fascinate me and pull me in quickly. They need to embezzle my attention and keep me entertained at all times.
Therefore my 10 greatest films are:
1) Moana
After seeing this movie multiple times, this movie is by far my favorite film. It's not because it is a disney film or even a kids movie it's because all the
elements in this movie was well executed. The animation of this film was done beautifully and done with great detail. In the film you can tell how
much time and effort was put in and how the animators took the time to work on each section of the movie. The soundtrack of moana was beautifully
written and composed. Another reason that moana is my number one movie is because she is not a princess. In the movie she is trained to be the
chief and wants be for her island and her people. In addition to that the characters in the film that we encounter are very compelling. We watch them
change, and grow and react throughout the movie. Lastly, the story was very strong Moana had conflicts, and goals and knew how to overcome the
conflicts to get to her goals.
2) The Hunger Games
One of the main reasons why I chose The Hunger Games as my second choice is because it is a very intense and suspenseful movie. In this film
what I really liked was that there was love, loss and explosion. You never knew what was going to happen which I enjoyed because I knew it was
going to be a very superb movie. The actors and actresses in this movie were picked out marvelously. Each character in this movie played their part as
if the Hunger Games existed. The

Movie Theater Experience
Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want
to watch them. I loved going to the theaters as a kid because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing my
mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have grown I have made an effort to go less often. While
the experience is still the same I just notice just how bad the overall experience can be as well.
Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound
system, the people, and the new releases. It is not just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you
around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a common experience and amplifies it so it feels
like you're getting something even greater.
Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With
fast paced action and cliffhanging details that are thrown in the 2–3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie when it
comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have also gotten really into staying for the credits as well

Today, romance is one of the most popular genres to watch on television. Unlike most, romance is a genre where the plot revolves around the love
between two main characters as they experience the highs and lows of love. "Common themes that revolve around romantic movies are kissing, love at
first sight, tragic love, destructive love, and sentimental love" (Taylor). These themes appear in many historical films and the pattern still continues in
modern films as well. Watching romantic movies has a giant negative influence on the viewer's analysis of what love and relationships should really
be like. These films give the wrong impression of reality when it comes to dating, marriage, having children, and even how to manage a relationship in

The article "Romantic Comedies Affect Beliefs About Relationships", written by Arlyn Riskind, suggests to readers that romantic films are a major
source for developing unrealistic expectations about love and relationships. "A survey of 335 undergraduate students in the Midwest found a
significant relationship between reporting watching romantic films often and belief in the ideals "love conquers all," "one and only" love (soul mate)
and "love at first sight" (Riskind). These findings compliment the expectation that watching romantic movies is a major source leading to the
unrealistic expectations among viewers. In addition, romantic comedies also give the wrong impression on relationships. If viewers are getting the
wrong idea about love itself, then that leads them into expecting more out of relationships as well. "Almost every romantic movie is generally
targeted toward women and has the same basic format: Boy meets girl, mutual feelings develop, conflicts arise and are overcome. Then, the story
concludes with a happy ending as the two characters live happily ever after together" (Hefner). The article "Contradictory Messages: A Content
Analysis of Hollywood–Produced Romantic Comedy Feature Films", written by Kimberly Johnson and Bjarne Holmes, explains a study that they had
conducted together. Their study analyzed the romantic content of a sample of 40 romantic comedy

Argumentative Essay On The Movie Get Out
The controversial movie Get out is a movie that none of the public expected which worked out in the director, Jordan Peel's favor. The genre is
unknown to even the director of the movie even though others have classified the film as a comedy. From first–hand experience of watching the film, I
can assure you that, that is not the case. Get out deals with racism issues e.g., when the main character's white girlfriend, Rose Armitage, played by
Allison Williams, hits a deer on the way to her parent's house with her black boyfriend, Chris Washington, played by Daniel Kaluuya, with him
sitting in the passenger side. When Rose calls the police to report the issue, the police officer proceeds to ask for Chris' driver's license although he
was not the one driving. Rose makes a scene telling the officer that it was not fair that he had to present his license and Chris was quietly trying to
calm her down because he knew that it was not going to make a difference. By putting this scene into the movie, the director wanted to address some
of the issues that African Americans have to deal with from the police. Before they even drove to her parent's house, Chris informed that he was
hesitant to go because she did not inform her parents that he was in fact, black. But, despite the hesitation, he decided to go anyway. When they
arrived at her parents' house Rose's father, Dean Armitage, played by Bradley Whitford, almost immediately began to act "black" by saying slurs like

My Favorite Movie Essay
Every person can relate to being asked the question: "What's your favorite movie?". Most of the time this is a very tricky question for people to
answer, simply because there are so many viable options to chose from. Strangely enough, if you were to ask a movie director or producer what their
favorite films are, they'd give you a straightforward and honest answer consisting of only one or a few different titles that come to mind. As strange as
it sounds, directors who have grown up or become accustomed to the Film Industry usually have strong set opinions and perspectives that tend to
reflect in their own projects and exploits, even though they are continually surrounded by all sorts of inspirations and potential influencers. Contrary to
what you might expect, these directors, editors, producers, and creators tend to remain very set in their ways and adapt their works into forms of
reflectives stemming from their everyday perspective. My own aunt, Devin Adair, has worked in the film industry for nearly two decades, during which
she has spent time in commercial, television, independent and studio film markets, finally chasing her own dream of creating her own masterpiece of
film. Her, like many before, came into the industry bright–eyed and hopeful, awaiting the great and many potential opportunities. But she came to
realize that the road leading there would have many twists and turns, each producing more and more speed bumps along the way. Her story is one of

Why Comedy Movies Are So Great Essay
There are many forms of expression inside of everybody; however the most common form is laughter. The sound of laughter can be heard all around
the worlds every second, it helps us relieve stress and makes us feel better about ourselves. Comedy movies play such an important role in helping us
laugh. There are many forms of movies out there today. In spite of the recent incline in action and horror movies today, comedy movies has always
been my number one choice because it gives people an opportunity to look at humor in life, it usually has a pointless, useless moral that we can relate
to, and it allows you to look at things in a new light and possibly expand your horizon to become a more optimistic person....show more content...
Many of the morals in a comedy movie can relate to us; however, it usually is a moral that is just useless facts that we don't need in our daily life.
In the movie, Me, Myself, and Irene is an example of a moral that we can relate to but really don't need. In the beginning of the movie the character
has found the love of his life, they get married and live a happy life until his wife finds another guy and they get divorced. At the end of the movie
the main character finds another girl he really likes and was going to let her walk out of his life, until he realizes he is not going to be happy without
her and stops her from leaving. The moral in the movie was that you shouldn't let a loved one go by without telling that person your feelings. We can
relate to this but it wont be of value in our daily life.
Comedy movies can educate us and make us change into a different person as well. It allows us to look at things in a new light and possibly expand
your horizon to become a more optimistic person. The term optimistic means a person who has a positive outlook in life. Not many comedies has this
characteristic in their movies; however, one movie that does is Dumb and dumber. Both the characters were stupid, so they took something a person
would say and take it very literally.

Today, the movie industry has become a huge moneymaker in the entertainment business. You cannot turn on the television without seeing
advertisements for the next big blockbuster film. While most of the films these days entertain with amazing special effects or raunchy comedy, there
are still films that thrive because of great acting, directing, and editing. Three films that I believe would be great examples of the way these aspects
can cause a film to excel are ?Any Given Sunday?, ?The Cell?, and ?Almost Famous?. ?Any Given Sunday? shows how, by using editing, a movie can
portray an intense situation realistically. In ?The Cell?, color is used to differentiate between how we see things in reality and how...show more content...

giving their take on the action send the viewer back to the reality that they are only watching the action and not participating in it. While watching this
movie you truly feel like you are in the game.
?The Cell?, instead of focusing on accurately portraying reality, takes you to the dream world. Catherine Deane, played by Jennifer Lopez, is a
child psychologist involved in an experimental project that allows her to travel inside the mind of coma victims to try to draw them away from
their fears and thus out of their coma. This movie portrays the journey inside the mind much like you would depict a dream. When Deane is inside
a young child, whose main concern seems to be a fear of the ?boogie man?, the world she enters is a beautiful desert scene where the sky is bright
blue with puffy white clouds. She is always dressed in bright white dresses and seems to glow. This depicts that she has earned the child?s trust. All
color is brighter in this dreamlike world. Even though these experiments had not been successful bringing the child out of the coma, Dean was able
to learn a lot about the child. This caused a couple of detectives to approach her about entering the mind of a serial killer who had slipped into a coma
with the goal of discovering the location of his most recent captive.

Argumentative Essay On Scary Movies
Everyone watches movies, whether it be in a theater or just at home on your TV. The reason that most people think of is just simply for
entertainment. The fact that there are so many different genres of movies makes it easy for us to bring out different emotions while watching them.
Those rush of emotions are what keeps us entertained and coming back for more. Scary movies, in particular, is an example of this. Why is it that we
watch scary movies so much to the point where we have nightmares or are even paranoid to do anything? In an article, Why do we watch scary
movies?, JoAnn Cantor, outreach director for the Center for Communication Research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and professor of 26
years, says "... there are adults who are fearful while walking through the woods after watching 'Blair Witch Project' or who cannot swim, even in
swimming pools or lakes, after watching 'Jaws' ". If there is such a big impact on us after watching scary movies, then there must be a good reason
why it's so addicting. Dr. Jeffrey Goldstein, a professor of social and organizational psychology at the University of Utrecht stated, "People go to
horror films because they want to be frightened or they wouldn't do it twice. You choose your entertainment because you want it to affect you".You
might think that people who like watching scary movies aren't afraid of the things they see, but that's not the case. It is mostly because people are able
to pay attention to the movies as

Hollywood Movies Compared to Other Countries' Movies
Despite the fact that Hollywood films are popular all over the world, many believe that foreign films are better. Critics' dislike of Hollywood films' is
due to the straight–line plots of the films in which nothing is left unclear, unsettling or unexplained and every shot is justified by a link to strictest
cause and effect. Hollywood films are often viewed as dulling the mind. In this country people generally view films for mere entertainment. Many
recent films support this stereotype of American culture. Special effects, violence, and actors' names (despite level of talent) are often major themes that
bring Americans to the movies. While most Hollywood films are made purely for...show more content...
When Americans go to the movies, they like to be entertained and want everything to end happily with as little physical or mental exertion on their part
as possible.
The opposite theme is evident in the movie The Official Story. This film portrays actual events through a fictional story. The film is extremely
shocking and causes the audience to contemplate the horror of the events. Unaware of where her child came from the mother has grown to love the
child, but is horrified to find out what she has done and where her child has come from. The audience is tossed into the middle of an emotional struggle.
This film is also unlike Hollywood films in that it is a current political film. Hollywood tends to avoid political films mainly for one of two reasons.
The first reason is that in today's capitalist society it is impossible for Hollywood to make a movie making any type of political statement.
Hollywood directors get most of their money from advertisers. They do not want to offend these advertisers because then there would be no money.
They also do not want to offend the general population who is paying to see the movie. If they do this then the movie will not make any money and
the producers would go broke. The second reason Hollywood does not make political movies is the lack of interest from the general population. As
mentioned above, most

Persuasive Essay About My Favorite Movie
For as long as I can remember the Adventures of the Wilderness Family has been my favorite movie. I was fascinated by how close to nature Pat,
Skip, Jenny, and Toby were and particularly how close to wildlife they were. Every time I watched that movie I was just in awe of how beautiful it
was and how they could sustain themselves and persevere through anything including multiple animal attacks. When I was a kid I always imagined
running free in a field filled with flowers and being so close to nature and feeling free to explore my own little world. I have watched this movie

Whenever a character got attacked they seemed to take it really lightly, when realistically that is life–threatening. Childhood me really appreciated this
movie for the kind of life I hoped to live when I got older. As a kid I would spend a lot of time by the pond outside my dad's house and exploring
the woods and backyard with my brothers and my Dad and watching this movie made me look toward the possibility of one day living a life that
ultimately felt free from my parents' issues and social conflicts and allowed me to find the heart and soul of who I am and depend on myself as I
felt in a way I always had. As a kid I felt like the odd duck out sometimes and felt trapped between my parents as I still do today, so moving to a
place like Gunnison National Forest seemed like the ultimate sense of freedom to me. I wasn't looking for a place where I felt like I was free from
all of the issues I had to deal with growing up and I could thrive as an individual without having to worry about having the coolest new things that my
elementary peers had before it was uncool or eventually about having the latest Apple products or designer handbags. A lesson this movie really pushes
to heart on its viewers is the importance of reducing materialistic values. During the time that this movie was produced America started becoming more
urban and building new cities. The start of the movie takes

Argumentative Essay On Superhero Movies
Similar to the way superhero movies have flooded the movie market, it would appear live–action fairy tales are now following in suit. Anything from
Cinderella and Peter Pan to Jack the Giant Slayer and Tarzan have all recently been the focal points of the live–action treatment within the past few
years – just to name a few.
While some thrive, like The Jungle Book and Cinderella, others films, such as The Huntsman: Winter's War and Alice Through the Looking Glass,
have drastically failed to find their target audience. Why, though? Why is it a select few defy box office gravity, while others struggle?
The simple answer to such a potentially complex question likely comes down to one simple word: popularity. Virtually everyone knows Cinderella

Granted, the story is on the cusp of timelessness (the film is based on the 1982 novel by Roald Dahl), but in comparison to the barrage of outlandishly

Essentially, The BFG is Disney's attempt to bring a story with bullying to forefront. Even though BFG is a giant, he's tiny compared to the other bullies
– who often take advantage of him and toss him around like a football. But, there's just something bland about such a redundant tale – one that

Even if one plans on becoming a director and not a screenwriter one needs to know what kind of scripts to look for. This is very important for a
beginning small movie director since the reader will most likely be writing their own scripts to get some recognition. A script is a document that
outlines every aural, visual, behavioral, and lingual element required to tell a story, according to the dictionary definition at www.Wikidpedia.org. It
is crucial to remember that film is a visual medium. One doesn't tell the audience the story, one shows them. So what one will be writing is not a
novel but more like explaining a dream on paper. One must learn to write a screenplay visually. As famed director Darren Aronofsky said in an
interview with a struggling screenwriter trying to get published,
"Most of what one writes that doesn't work on screen will just be improvised on the movie set".
There are many important requirements for screenplays that may seem like minutia at first glance but the format of ones script is extremely important
since it will be submitted along with hundreds of others to one producer. For example, the main font in use in the U.S. by both publishers and the
Hollywood film industry is Courier 12 pitch According to AFI (American Film Industry) the basics of screenwriting. Though this seems unimportant,

I look for many different things when I watch a movie. The Biggest thing I look for is plot. I want the plot to make sense and to flow well. I hate
when movies have a lot of unexplained plot holes, it makes the movie hard to watch. I think the best movies have well thought out plots. The plot
should make the person watching the movie interested in watching until the end.
Another thing I look for in movies is actors who are good at acting. In my opinion, I believe that a bad actor can ruin the whole movie. Sometimes it can

Essay on Film Making
Film Making
Film production phases
Film production is the process of making a film starting from the story or idea through scriptwriting, shooting to the distribution of the movie to the
audience. There are four main phases involved in film making.
Development phase
In the development phase, the film is written from the story (Cones, p. 195). The story may come from a book, a play, another film or an original
idea developed by the film producer. During the development of the film, the film producer works in corroboration with the film writers to develop
the film message and a theme of the message. They then prepare a synopsis of the film. The film producer and the writers then prepare a step outline

It is aimed at making the film ready to be distributed to the viewers (Barbara and Sphor, p. 1–3). In this phase, the production scripts and items are
assembled to make a complete movie. According to Barbara and Sphor (2002), activities involved in the post–production phase include film processing
and printing. Moreover, the pictures and the sound are synchronized in the post–production phase, and an assemblage created. After the movie has been
completed, it is then ready to be distributed to the viewers.
Narrative films
According to Pramaggiore and Wallis (p. 8), narrative films produce comedy or tragedy. Therefore, in narrative films, viewers expect the stories of
human actors that produce comedy or tragedy due to circumstances. According to Pramaggiore and Wallis (p. 8), viewers of narrative films would
expect to see stories about people who in the attempt to achieve certain objectives or goals undergo through various obstacles on their way.
Mise–en–scene
This is a term used in film production and that is concerned with the way the story is told in a film (Gibbs, p. 5–10). As such it refers to all the
elements of visual styles used in the film. Mise–en–scene refers to all components of the film composition including the film composition, film
framing, camera and character movement, film lighting as well as the sound used in the film composition.

Descriptive Essay About A Movie
I had just gotten off work and I was running around frantically trying to find the perfect outfit for a movie date, I didn't want to be too dressed up, but
also not in a t–shirt and shorts, like I usually am. My parents wouldn't let me leave until they got to meet Garrett, the guy who was taking me out to
the movies. I was super nervous they weren't going to like him because of his interests. So I send Garrett a text saying that my parents wanted him
to come into the house so they could meet him. My dad is very blunt and doesn't know how to control himself sometimes, but I asked him to be nice

My Favorite Movies Essay
Have you ever thought about what kind of movies you have watched and why you have watched them? Ever since I was a child, I always liked
watching movies that had unique and interesting characteristics in it. My parents told me that when I was a child I never wanted to watch movies
that were long and had boring plot. They tell me that I was very fussy on what movies I wanted to watch, and that I always watched movies that
encouraged or taught kids something good about behaviour or environment.. Since my parents told me this, I can now very much relate to my
childhood and I think that I have not changed at all. This is because I am still very picky about the movies I watch. All the movies should have certain
characteristics such as acting, villain, and plot in order to be considered good movies by the audience.
Without a good actor in a movie, the movie will seem mundane to the audience watching it. One of the movies that I think has good acting is Home
Alone. In this movie, there is a boy name Kevin who is left behind at his house while his family goes on a vacation. This movie is all about how
Kevin, an eight year old boy, faces difficulties while he is alone at his house and learns that two burglars are planning to rob his house. I think this
movie is great and entertaining because it shows how an eight year old kid deals with the robbery that was going to take place in his house all by
himself. Another movie that I believe has good acting is Star Wars– The Force

Essay On 1920S Movies

  • 1. Essay On 1920s Movies Hillary Le Clendenin U.S History Period 2 16 December 2015 Movies of the 1920's Film production in the 1920's was when the movie business expanded immensly. With new technologies creating movie theaters, film makers were able to let the public see the movies they made. Movie theatres were large and a very common place to go to during the 1920's also known as the "Roaring 20's". With this new increase of movies, actors and actresses are needed, therefore making them incredibly weathly. The 1920's started the birth of sound in films called "talkies". Entertainment in the 1920's expanded quickly and was dominating. The top four movies of the Roaring 1920's are first "Metropolis", which is a movie about a utopian society that has divided people as the working class or the city planners. The workers were underground operating machinery for the uptown , the city above, and a city planner found out the horrible conditions the workers were in. Together the city planner and workers take over Metropolis (Storyline of Meteropolis). The second most popular movie is "Nosferatu" a movie about a vampire named Count Orlok who buys a...show more content... He has starred in many movies such as "Sergeant York" and "High Moon", both which won an Acedemy Award Winner for Best Actor. He was in silent films but during the transition to films with sound , he had to learn to speak with good dictation adn sdjusted. Unlike many actors during the decline of silemt films who had to quit, he was able to adapt . John Barrymore is another actor who survived the silent film decline. • 2. Descriptive Essay About Cinema If you love movies and the theatre's that show them then read no further. For I'm about to tell you haunts me. We are to go on a journey one for those that enjoys watching movies and going to theaters to see them will be a difficult one. The Place I am talking about is the dreaded Frank Theatre Coastal Cinemas. This is by far the worst establishment I have ever been to in my life. It is 34,888 SF, was built in 2003 and is only one story tall. This horror show of a building is nested right off Ocean High Way 17 West in the small town of Shallotte NC. The address is 5,200 Bridges Road, zip code 28470. I will later get into the details of why I detest this place so much but first let me tell you about the exterior and interior of the theatre. When you first drive into the parking lot you will notice the parking, lot has ample space to fit the movies goers who visit it. The exterior is made up of two different tones of brick. The one that stands out the most is the darker shade of sandy brown and the other a lighter color. The name on the front is Coastal Cinemas their color a faded red due to sun exposure through the years. In between the name is a wave the color once a light blue but sun exposure has faded its color as well. There are four palm trees out in front of the building two on the left and two on the right. The movie showcases that are currently playing line the walls of the front building, and nestled right in the middle in the ticket booth. After one pays for their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on Bollywood Movies Bollywood movies are very popular for the "Romance" portrayed in their plot. Romance in Bollywood has evolved throughout the ages. But the one thing, that has remained constant are the unofficial and official ban on any depiction that may suggest something which is not a part of the "Indian" culture. Westernization was always shown as something negative and alien. Let's have a closer look at how Hindi cinema deals with this censorship code that has been set up. Bollywood adopted a new way to recreate the same passion that usually a 'kiss' would generate; they substitute these by song and dance routines. Songs are basically a description of the passionate seen with no suggestive visual imagery to aid it. It's left to the audiences' ...show more content... For example in Shree 420(1950), Maya the female antagonist is shown as rich, westernized women, with no moral values. She is shown to wear explicitly revealing clothes and have short hair. She drinks alcohol and also smokes. Flirting with men and dancing while inappropriately clad around them, are also the other negative qualities she embodies. However, Vidya is the female protagonist who is completely the opposite, she's traditional and educated. Responsibilities that she holds are looking after her disabled father and running a school. Her hair is long and she is always traditionally dressed in saris. The contrasting visual imagery of Vidya and Maya lets the audience make a judgment of who portrays the negative character quite clearly. Do not fail to notice that this outward depiction of good and bad is only in terms of the women. Raj the male lead of the movie Shree 420, goes through a phase of corruption and greed, however, he is ultimately forgiven and given the benefit of the doubt. This leads me to my next point about how 'Women" are sacrificed in movies just to pass out a social message. The message clearly states that any act which is not "culturally accepted" will have bad consequences. In the movie Kati Patang, you are taken through the story of Madhavi, who runs away to be with her lover on the day of her wedding. From that very moment, she encounters a series of unfortunate events. A secondary character from Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Greatest Movies Essay There are remarkably multiple amazing movies to choose from.If I had to pick 10 of the greatest films of all time they would include suspense and action. The list of movies that I have picked out are in my opinion the greatest films of all time. In the cinema, there are hundreds and hundreds of memorable moments and scenes from many films. The reason behind this is because the ten movies that I have picked out have compelled me to ''relive'' the moment. Therefore they give me a memory that I will hold on to. If a movie changes you mine it's not because of your reasoning it's because of your emotions that you feel towards the movie. My 10 greatest films must be films that fascinate me and pull me in quickly. They need to embezzle my attention and keep me entertained at all times. Therefore my 10 greatest films are: 1) Moana After seeing this movie multiple times, this movie is by far my favorite film. It's not because it is a disney film or even a kids movie it's because all the elements in this movie was well executed. The animation of this film was done beautifully and done with great detail. In the film you can tell how much time and effort was put in and how the animators took the time to work on each section of the movie. The soundtrack of moana was beautifully written and composed. Another reason that moana is my number one movie is because she is not a princess. In the movie she is trained to be the chief and wants be for her island and her people. In addition to that the characters in the film that we encounter are very compelling. We watch them change, and grow and react throughout the movie. Lastly, the story was very strong Moana had conflicts, and goals and knew how to overcome the conflicts to get to her goals. 2) The Hunger Games One of the main reasons why I chose The Hunger Games as my second choice is because it is a very intense and suspenseful movie. In this film what I really liked was that there was love, loss and explosion. You never knew what was going to happen which I enjoyed because I knew it was going to be a very superb movie. The actors and actresses in this movie were picked out marvelously. Each character in this movie played their part as if the Hunger Games existed. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Movie Theater Experience Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I loved going to the theaters as a kid because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing my mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have grown I have made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just notice just how bad the overall experience can be as well. Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system, the people, and the new releases. It is not just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a common experience and amplifies it so it feels like you're getting something even greater. Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced action and cliffhanging details that are thrown in the 2–3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie when it comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have also gotten really into staying for the credits as well Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Today, romance is one of the most popular genres to watch on television. Unlike most, romance is a genre where the plot revolves around the love between two main characters as they experience the highs and lows of love. "Common themes that revolve around romantic movies are kissing, love at first sight, tragic love, destructive love, and sentimental love" (Taylor). These themes appear in many historical films and the pattern still continues in modern films as well. Watching romantic movies has a giant negative influence on the viewer's analysis of what love and relationships should really be like. These films give the wrong impression of reality when it comes to dating, marriage, having children, and even how to manage a relationship in ...show more content... The article "Romantic Comedies Affect Beliefs About Relationships", written by Arlyn Riskind, suggests to readers that romantic films are a major source for developing unrealistic expectations about love and relationships. "A survey of 335 undergraduate students in the Midwest found a significant relationship between reporting watching romantic films often and belief in the ideals "love conquers all," "one and only" love (soul mate) and "love at first sight" (Riskind). These findings compliment the expectation that watching romantic movies is a major source leading to the unrealistic expectations among viewers. In addition, romantic comedies also give the wrong impression on relationships. If viewers are getting the wrong idea about love itself, then that leads them into expecting more out of relationships as well. "Almost every romantic movie is generally targeted toward women and has the same basic format: Boy meets girl, mutual feelings develop, conflicts arise and are overcome. Then, the story concludes with a happy ending as the two characters live happily ever after together" (Hefner). The article "Contradictory Messages: A Content Analysis of Hollywood–Produced Romantic Comedy Feature Films", written by Kimberly Johnson and Bjarne Holmes, explains a study that they had conducted together. Their study analyzed the romantic content of a sample of 40 romantic comedy Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Argumentative Essay On The Movie Get Out The controversial movie Get out is a movie that none of the public expected which worked out in the director, Jordan Peel's favor. The genre is unknown to even the director of the movie even though others have classified the film as a comedy. From first–hand experience of watching the film, I can assure you that, that is not the case. Get out deals with racism issues e.g., when the main character's white girlfriend, Rose Armitage, played by Allison Williams, hits a deer on the way to her parent's house with her black boyfriend, Chris Washington, played by Daniel Kaluuya, with him sitting in the passenger side. When Rose calls the police to report the issue, the police officer proceeds to ask for Chris' driver's license although he was not the one driving. Rose makes a scene telling the officer that it was not fair that he had to present his license and Chris was quietly trying to calm her down because he knew that it was not going to make a difference. By putting this scene into the movie, the director wanted to address some of the issues that African Americans have to deal with from the police. Before they even drove to her parent's house, Chris informed that he was hesitant to go because she did not inform her parents that he was in fact, black. But, despite the hesitation, he decided to go anyway. When they arrived at her parents' house Rose's father, Dean Armitage, played by Bradley Whitford, almost immediately began to act "black" by saying slurs like "man" and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Favorite Movie Essay Every person can relate to being asked the question: "What's your favorite movie?". Most of the time this is a very tricky question for people to answer, simply because there are so many viable options to chose from. Strangely enough, if you were to ask a movie director or producer what their favorite films are, they'd give you a straightforward and honest answer consisting of only one or a few different titles that come to mind. As strange as it sounds, directors who have grown up or become accustomed to the Film Industry usually have strong set opinions and perspectives that tend to reflect in their own projects and exploits, even though they are continually surrounded by all sorts of inspirations and potential influencers. Contrary to what you might expect, these directors, editors, producers, and creators tend to remain very set in their ways and adapt their works into forms of reflectives stemming from their everyday perspective. My own aunt, Devin Adair, has worked in the film industry for nearly two decades, during which she has spent time in commercial, television, independent and studio film markets, finally chasing her own dream of creating her own masterpiece of film. Her, like many before, came into the industry bright–eyed and hopeful, awaiting the great and many potential opportunities. But she came to realize that the road leading there would have many twists and turns, each producing more and more speed bumps along the way. Her story is one of battling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Why Comedy Movies Are So Great Essay There are many forms of expression inside of everybody; however the most common form is laughter. The sound of laughter can be heard all around the worlds every second, it helps us relieve stress and makes us feel better about ourselves. Comedy movies play such an important role in helping us laugh. There are many forms of movies out there today. In spite of the recent incline in action and horror movies today, comedy movies has always been my number one choice because it gives people an opportunity to look at humor in life, it usually has a pointless, useless moral that we can relate to, and it allows you to look at things in a new light and possibly expand your horizon to become a more optimistic person....show more content... Many of the morals in a comedy movie can relate to us; however, it usually is a moral that is just useless facts that we don't need in our daily life. In the movie, Me, Myself, and Irene is an example of a moral that we can relate to but really don't need. In the beginning of the movie the character has found the love of his life, they get married and live a happy life until his wife finds another guy and they get divorced. At the end of the movie the main character finds another girl he really likes and was going to let her walk out of his life, until he realizes he is not going to be happy without her and stops her from leaving. The moral in the movie was that you shouldn't let a loved one go by without telling that person your feelings. We can relate to this but it wont be of value in our daily life. Comedy movies can educate us and make us change into a different person as well. It allows us to look at things in a new light and possibly expand your horizon to become a more optimistic person. The term optimistic means a person who has a positive outlook in life. Not many comedies has this characteristic in their movies; however, one movie that does is Dumb and dumber. Both the characters were stupid, so they took something a person would say and take it very literally. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Cinematography Essay examples Today, the movie industry has become a huge moneymaker in the entertainment business. You cannot turn on the television without seeing advertisements for the next big blockbuster film. While most of the films these days entertain with amazing special effects or raunchy comedy, there are still films that thrive because of great acting, directing, and editing. Three films that I believe would be great examples of the way these aspects can cause a film to excel are ?Any Given Sunday?, ?The Cell?, and ?Almost Famous?. ?Any Given Sunday? shows how, by using editing, a movie can portray an intense situation realistically. In ?The Cell?, color is used to differentiate between how we see things in reality and how...show more content... Panning shots of cheering fans and screaming coaches along with occasional shots of the game being broadcast on a television with commentators giving their take on the action send the viewer back to the reality that they are only watching the action and not participating in it. While watching this movie you truly feel like you are in the game. ?The Cell?, instead of focusing on accurately portraying reality, takes you to the dream world. Catherine Deane, played by Jennifer Lopez, is a child psychologist involved in an experimental project that allows her to travel inside the mind of coma victims to try to draw them away from their fears and thus out of their coma. This movie portrays the journey inside the mind much like you would depict a dream. When Deane is inside a young child, whose main concern seems to be a fear of the ?boogie man?, the world she enters is a beautiful desert scene where the sky is bright blue with puffy white clouds. She is always dressed in bright white dresses and seems to glow. This depicts that she has earned the child?s trust. All color is brighter in this dreamlike world. Even though these experiments had not been successful bringing the child out of the coma, Dean was able to learn a lot about the child. This caused a couple of detectives to approach her about entering the mind of a serial killer who had slipped into a coma with the goal of discovering the location of his most recent captive. • 11. Argumentative Essay On Scary Movies Everyone watches movies, whether it be in a theater or just at home on your TV. The reason that most people think of is just simply for entertainment. The fact that there are so many different genres of movies makes it easy for us to bring out different emotions while watching them. Those rush of emotions are what keeps us entertained and coming back for more. Scary movies, in particular, is an example of this. Why is it that we watch scary movies so much to the point where we have nightmares or are even paranoid to do anything? In an article, Why do we watch scary movies?, JoAnn Cantor, outreach director for the Center for Communication Research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and professor of 26 years, says "... there are adults who are fearful while walking through the woods after watching 'Blair Witch Project' or who cannot swim, even in swimming pools or lakes, after watching 'Jaws' ". If there is such a big impact on us after watching scary movies, then there must be a good reason why it's so addicting. Dr. Jeffrey Goldstein, a professor of social and organizational psychology at the University of Utrecht stated, "People go to horror films because they want to be frightened or they wouldn't do it twice. You choose your entertainment because you want it to affect you".You might think that people who like watching scary movies aren't afraid of the things they see, but that's not the case. It is mostly because people are able to pay attention to the movies as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Hollywood Movies Compared to Other Countries' Movies Despite the fact that Hollywood films are popular all over the world, many believe that foreign films are better. Critics' dislike of Hollywood films' is due to the straight–line plots of the films in which nothing is left unclear, unsettling or unexplained and every shot is justified by a link to strictest cause and effect. Hollywood films are often viewed as dulling the mind. In this country people generally view films for mere entertainment. Many recent films support this stereotype of American culture. Special effects, violence, and actors' names (despite level of talent) are often major themes that bring Americans to the movies. While most Hollywood films are made purely for...show more content... When Americans go to the movies, they like to be entertained and want everything to end happily with as little physical or mental exertion on their part as possible. The opposite theme is evident in the movie The Official Story. This film portrays actual events through a fictional story. The film is extremely shocking and causes the audience to contemplate the horror of the events. Unaware of where her child came from the mother has grown to love the child, but is horrified to find out what she has done and where her child has come from. If they do this then the movie will not make any money and the producers would go broke. The second reason Hollywood does not make political movies is the lack of interest from the general population. As mentioned above, most Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Essay About My Favorite Movie For as long as I can remember the Adventures of the Wilderness Family has been my favorite movie. I was fascinated by how close to nature Pat, Skip, Jenny, and Toby were and particularly how close to wildlife they were. Every time I watched that movie I was just in awe of how beautiful it was and how they could sustain themselves and persevere through anything including multiple animal attacks. When I was a kid I always imagined running free in a field filled with flowers and being so close to nature and feeling free to explore my own little world. I have watched this movie countless times and have purposely never examined any faults the movie might have because I enjoyed it exactly the way it was. I never looked at it and actually saw...show more content... Whenever a character got attacked they seemed to take it really lightly, when realistically that is life–threatening. Childhood me really appreciated this movie for the kind of life I hoped to live when I got older. As a kid I would spend a lot of time by the pond outside my dad's house and exploring the woods and backyard with my brothers and my Dad and watching this movie made me look toward the possibility of one day living a life that ultimately felt free from my parents' issues and social conflicts and allowed me to find the heart and soul of who I am and depend on myself as I felt in a way I always had. As a kid I felt like the odd duck out sometimes and felt trapped between my parents as I still do today, so moving to a place like Gunnison National Forest seemed like the ultimate sense of freedom to me. I wasn't looking for a place where I felt like I was free from all of the issues I had to deal with growing up and I could thrive as an individual without having to worry about having the coolest new things that my elementary peers had before it was uncool or eventually about having the latest Apple products or designer handbags. A lesson this movie really pushes to heart on its viewers is the importance of reducing materialistic values. Anything from Cinderella and Peter Pan to Jack the Giant Slayer and Tarzan have all recently been the focal points of the live–action treatment within the past few years – just to name a few. While some thrive, like The Jungle Book and Cinderella, others films, such as The Huntsman: Winter's War and Alice Through the Looking Glass, have drastically failed to find their target audience. Why, though? Why is it a select few defy box office gravity, while others struggle? The simple answer to such a potentially complex question likely comes down to one simple word: popularity. Virtually everyone knows Cinderella ...show more content... Granted, the story is on the cusp of timelessness (the film is based on the 1982 novel by Roald Dahl), but in comparison to the barrage of outlandishly delightful tales out there, like the aforementioned film, The Jungle Book, The BFG simply pales in comparison. Essentially, The BFG is Disney's attempt to bring a story with bullying to forefront. Even though BFG is a giant, he's tiny compared to the other bullies – who often take advantage of him and toss him around like a football. But, there's just something bland about such a redundant tale – one that culminates by the parent, in this film's case, the British government, to handle the issue (a strange climax, I Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Even if one plans on becoming a director and not a screenwriter one needs to know what kind of scripts to look for. This is very important for a beginning small movie director since the reader will most likely be writing their own scripts to get some recognition. A script is a document that outlines every aural, visual, behavioral, and lingual element required to tell a story, according to the dictionary definition at www.Wikidpedia.org. It is crucial to remember that film is a visual medium. One doesn't tell the audience the story, one shows them. So what one will be writing is not a novel but more like explaining a dream on paper. One must learn to write a screenplay visually. As famed director Darren Aronofsky said in an interview with a struggling screenwriter trying to get published, "Most of what one writes that doesn't work on screen will just be improvised on the movie set". There are many important requirements for screenplays that may seem like minutia at first glance but the format of ones script is extremely important since it will be submitted along with hundreds of others to one producer. For example, the main font in use in the U.S. by both publishers and the Hollywood film industry is Courier 12 pitch According to AFI (American Film Industry) the basics of screenwriting. • 16. Evaluation Essay On Movie Evaluation Evaluation Essay My dad and I are both huge movie nerds. We both love watching them and talking about them. Although we like some similar and some different types of movies, we like to watch and discuss them together. I look for many different things when I watch a movie. The Biggest thing I look for is plot. I want the plot to make sense and to flow well. I hate when movies have a lot of unexplained plot holes, it makes the movie hard to watch. I think the best movies have well thought out plots. The plot should make the person watching the movie interested in watching until the end. Another thing I look for in movies is actors who are good at acting. In my opinion, I believe that a bad actor can ruin the whole movie. Sometimes it can Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The story may come from a book, a play, another film or an original idea developed by the film producer. Moreover, the pictures and the sound are synchronized in the post–production phase, and an assemblage created. After the movie has been completed, it is then ready to be distributed to the viewers. Narrative films According to Pramaggiore and Wallis (p. 8), narrative films produce comedy or tragedy. • 19. Descriptive Essay About A Movie I had just gotten off work and I was running around frantically trying to find the perfect outfit for a movie date, I didn't want to be too dressed up, but also not in a t–shirt and shorts, like I usually am. My parents wouldn't let me leave until they got to meet Garrett, the guy who was taking me out to the movies. I was super nervous they weren't going to like him because of his interests. So I send Garrett a text saying that my parents wanted him to come into the house so they could meet him. My dad is very blunt and doesn't know how to control himself sometimes, but I asked him to be nice and if he had any comments to keep them to himself, and thankfully, he did, but he snuck in "what? Does he need a pair of your jeans?" right before Garrett walked through the front door. Garrett is a guy who wears skinny jeans everyday, literally, everyday and he has curly shaggy hair, which I think suits him perfectly. It was completely silent majority of the car ride, besides the music playing the background. I think it would have been a little less awkward if we had the same music tastes, but unfortunately, we did not. He is into screamo songs, and I'm more into hip/hop and pop. We talked a little here and there, and finally arrived to the town Union, where we would be seeing the movie. We got there super early, like almost an hour early, so we looked up back roads to drive on to waste our time. While we drove around waiting on our movie, we got to talk about ourselves. • 20. My Favorite Movies Essay Have you ever thought about what kind of movies you have watched and why you have watched them? Ever since I was a child, I always liked watching movies that had unique and interesting characteristics in it. My parents told me that when I was a child I never wanted to watch movies that were long and had boring plot. They tell me that I was very fussy on what movies I wanted to watch, and that I always watched movies that encouraged or taught kids something good about behaviour or environment.. Since my parents told me this, I can now very much relate to my childhood and I think that I have not changed at all. This is because I am still very picky about the movies I watch. All the movies should have certain characteristics such as acting, villain, and plot in order to be considered good movies by the audience. Without a good actor in a movie, the movie will seem mundane to the audience watching it. One of the movies that I think has good acting is Home Alone. In this movie, there is a boy name Kevin who is left behind at his house while his family goes on a vacation. This movie is all about how Kevin, an eight year old boy, faces difficulties while he is alone at his house and learns that two burglars are planning to rob his house. I think this movie is great and entertaining because it shows how an eight year old kid deals with the robbery that was going to take place in his house all by himself. Another movie that I believe has good acting is Star Wars– The Force Get more content on HelpWriting.net
