1. Remember Your
Loved Ones…
As the nation’s largest non-
governmental investor in cancer
research, contributing more than
$3.4 billion, we transform what we
know about cancer into what we do
about cancer.
Gus Burriesci, ACS Officer and
Director of Planned Giving, covers
all planned giving in Connecticut
and Rhode Island. For
supplementary information, call Gus
Burriesci at (203) 241-9097 or visit
www.cancer.org.
“Planned gifts typically come from
an individual’s assets, rather than
income, and can be either outright
or deferred,” says Burriesci.
“These gifts can take various forms,
consisting of wills or bequests;
trusts; charitable gift annuities; real
estate; life insurance; mutual funds;
and donor-advised funds,” he adds.
ACS supports any contribution, each
step of the way, without exception.

2. Who Are We?
For over 100 years, the American Cancer
Society (ACS) has worked relentlessly to
save lives and create a world with less
cancer. Together with millions of our
supporters worldwide, we help people get
well, stay well, find cures, and fight back
against cancer.
What have we done?
In 2016… aside from federal government
aid, we received close to $10 million in
funding for cancer research. This research
has been completed at fine hospital
institutions such as:
Griffin Hospital … $600,000
University of Connecticut … $716,000
University of Connecticut Health Center ...
$879,000
Yale University … $7,496,000
Our groundbreaking research has been
made possible through our volunteers,
donors, and charitable planned gifts.
Goals for 2017
We are proud to announce that the
American Cancer Society has aided over 14
million cancer survivors at this time. With
the help of donors and volunteers, we look
forward to continuing our success and
surpassing this number in the following
years. ACS support for cancer patients is
achieved by:
Rides to treatment
Hope Lodge hospitality when
travelling
Support communities
Relay for Life Events; Breast Cancer
Walks
Extensive, ongoing research
How Can You Help?
The American Cancer Society is an
organization aiding cancer patients in
virtually every Connecticut community.
Taking the time to revere or remember a
loved one through a charitable gift provides
immense support to the Society’s crucial,
lifesaving research, education, advocacy,
and patient service programs.
In addition to charitable gifts, ACS offers the
option of planned gifts for those individuals
looking to donate with overall financial, tax,
and estate-planning goals.
“A Planned Gift allows a donor to make an
altruistic bequest to cherish those affected
by cancer – today, and for years to come,”
says Gus Burriesci, Planned Giving Officer
The Society’s immovable passion combined
with gifts from donors will continue to
result in over 14 million cancer victims
being able to celebrate birthdays this year.
