1. A SUBSIDIARY OF
BloodnTissueFoundation.org
The mission of the Foundation is to advocate for community awareness and
develop financial and other resources in support of the work of BioBridge Global
and its subsidiaries.
The Blood & Tissue Center Foundation is directed by a committed board of
volunteers comprising some of South Texas’ most influential and respected
community leaders. The invaluable donation of their time and talents helps guide
the Foundation in raising the funds integral to the work of saving lives.
Through contributions and fundraising events, the Foundation has raised nearly
$10 million since its inception. Contributions are received through the Red and White Ball, the Foundation’s marquee
fundraiser that takes place every fall, the Ruskin C. Norman Founders’ Circle, the Marrow Ambassadors Annual Golf
Tournament as well as in memoriam and honorarium contributions.
The Foundation supports BioBridge Global and its subsidiaries by:
• Raising funds for various programs that offer services to patients in need around the world
• Offering educational programs to raise awareness about the lifesaving work of BioBridge Global
• Using funds to purchase cutting-edge equipment that helps BioBridge Global subsidiaries provide the most
effective services.

Spirit of Hope: Jon Ugarte
Jon Ugarte, who is living with Down syndrome, was diagnosed with lymphoblastic
leukemia at age 10. Jon joined thousands of patients with blood cancers and other
life-threatening diseases hoping for a marrow or cord blood donor to help make a
cure possible.
The Ugartes’ prayers were answered when a cord blood match was found in January
2011. Jon recently celebrated his 19th
birthday and is cancer-free.
The Blood & Tissue Center Foundation supports Jon and thousands of patients like
him every year through its involvement in:
• The Texas Cord Blood Bank, a program of GenCure, that
collects, stores and processes lifesaving umbilical cord blood from generous
new mothers throughout Texas
• The GenCure Marrow Donor Program, which registers marrow donors and connects them with patients worldwide in
need of transplants in partnership with the Be The Match Registry®
• The bereavement program sponsored by GenCure, which is free and open to the community. The program
helps educate and comfort families who have lost loved ones.
