This guide illustrates how to add a PDF as an additional data stream to any digital object in CTDA. If a PDF data stream already exists, users and content owners will see the tab "Download PDF".

How to Add A PDF Data Stream

Adding a PDF that Users Can Download
The Download PDF Tab offers the content owner the ability to add a PDF as an
additional data stream to any content model where this PDF can be downloaded by
the user. If a PDF data stream is already present, the Download PDF tab will appear
automatically. This Download PDF Tab will work with any content model.
The screen shot above illustrates this functionality for a content owner who is
logged into the system. Public users will only see View and Download PDF.

When a user clicks on the “Download PDF” tab, this will save a PDF.pdf file to their
local computer.
Needed Elements for the Download PDF tool:
PDF file
1. Go to where you would like to have a downloadable PDF for users.
2. Click “Manage”
3. Click “Datastreams”
4. Click “Add a datastream”
5. In the next window:

a. The Datastream ID MUST BE ALL CAPS AND THE WORD: PDF
b. Datastream label can be any readable label such as the filename
c. Choose the file which can have any name and Click “Upload
d. Click “Add Datasteam”
And Voila! You’ve just added a downloadable PDF as illustrated below:
