Instructions
You are required to apply three (3) different WHS procedures on three (3) different occasions and
complete a JSA, a SWMS or research a MSDS (material safety data sheet). You must follow all Health and
Safety Requirements while undertaking these tasks and including wearing the correct PPE, while
following Australian government and state legislation and CIT guidelines.
Prior to each task you must actively participate in a toolbox talk.
Task 1: Clean a job site: You are required to sustainably clean a job site; this must include at least four
(4) of the below tasks or as directed by your assessor which you must complete a JSA for. Your JSA must
clearly outline the task how you will undertake the clean up safely, including the PPE that you are
required to wear to undertake the work in a safe manner, including what signage or barricades that are
required to keep other safe and the tools and equipment that you will use. Please ensure you report any
damaged tools or equipment prior to using. Once you have finished the task you must upload you
completed JSA to Ready Skills
Stacking timber or other construction items
Stacking paint tins
Stacking gyprock
Clean up of dust/ dirt
Removal/ recycling of debris
Sweeping saw dust/ sand
Removal and reporting of damaged items

Task 2: Spill Clean-up: You are required to clean up a spill on the job site. You must research a MSDS for
the spill you are going to clean up and follow the MSDS to sustainably clean up the spill. The spill maybe
but not limited to the list below:
Paint

Bleach
Hydrochloric acid
Sealer
Cement
You are required to look up a MSDS complete the table below
On completion of the table, you are required to clean up the spill. Take before, during and after picture
and upload them with this table to Ready Skills

Task 3: Extinguish a fire: You are required to extinguish a small fire. This will be complete in P block in
the High Risk simulated environment. A small, contained fire will be lite in the Try Fire, fire simulator
which you are to safely extinguish with a fire blanket. Prior to beginning this task, you are to complete a
SWMS ensuring that all sections are completed, once the task is completed the SWMS must be uploaded
to Ready Skills.

This assessment will take place at CIT’s Bruce campus during your normal class time. You are required to
wear the correct PPE throughout the assessment. If you are being unsafe at any time throughout the
assessment your assessment will be stopped, and this will count as your first attempt. No mobile phones
are to be used while undertaking this assessment. If the weather is poor on the day of this assessment
alternative day/ time or location will be arranged.

All materials, tools and equipment required to undertake this assessment will be provided, including
SWMS and JSA’s

You may have at least two (2) attempts for this assessment.
If your first attempt is not successful, your teacher will discuss your results with you and will arrange
a second attempt.
If your second attempt is not successful, you may be required to re-enrol in this unit.
