SCOPE
CEA Project Logistics were employed to assist
the Royal Thai Navy on a project that involved
transporting a USD 7 million Sikorsky Seahawk
helicopter. The Seahawk was to be moved from its
base at Utapao Airport in Rayong province to one of
CEA’s facilities in Laem Chabang, there it would be
processed ready for shipment to Australia where it
would undergo a full refit.
PROCEDURE
The main rotor and tail blades were removed and packed into
CEA custom made crates and surrounded with rubber to ensure
no damage would occur during transportation. The crates were
delivered to CEA on a 40ft flatbed trailer.
A 25 ton crane using modular spreader beams lifted the helicopter
on to a CEA Air Ride trailer. The helicopter was covered for
transport with a tarpaulin and transported 60km to the CEA
cargo consolidation facility. A reach stacker was used to discharge
the helicopter from the trailer and load on to a 40ft flat rack,
specialist steel dunnage was engineered and fabricated by CEA to
accommodate the oversized loading requirements.

Both laden container and flat rack were loaded out at Sri Racha
port via direct loading. CEA provided a complete document
pack to the shipper, consisting of photographic evidence of the
cleaning process and quarantine compliance check sheets.

are designed for utility missions, such as logistics and troop
transport. In addition, the standard searchlight and rescue
hoist enables aircrew to perform search and rescue missions.
