My Personal Values
My personal values act as a basis for distinguishing between right and wrong and thus, determine my daily actions and emotions. My mom and
education have played profound roles in the development of my core personal values: personal integrity, responsibility, and ambition. Additionally,
these influences have demonstrated that the rule–based approach determined what conduct is consistent with these key values.
Before I was the age of 6, my parents were divorced. Ever since moving back to Pennsylvania in 2004, I have been living with my mom. As a child,
my mom taught me to not be dishonest, disrespectful, or self–centered, since they all are morally incorrect in today's society. My mom's ultimate goal
is that all individuals deserve their respect regardless of it's age, race, sex, or religion. Her stern belief that "it takes all types to make the world go
'round" has influenced me to use the rights approach from Immanuel Kant and others like him, to focus on the rights of other individuals. "According to
these philosophers, what makes human beings different from mere things is that people have dignity based on their ability to choose freely what they
will do with their lives, and they have a fundamental moral right to have these choices respected. People are not objects to be manipulated; it is a
violation of human dignity to use people in ways they do not freely choose" (Thinking Ethically). Understanding that I am a current undergraduate
student at Kutztown University must

A Reflection On My Personal Values Essay
Value Orientations are an important aspect to social work practice. It is critical that social workers do not let their personal values interfere with their
daily work ethic. In addition, social works must keep an objective outlook on the issues they confront because values differ across cultures, race,
ethnicity, etc. The purpose of this paper is to provide a critical self–reflection on my personal values. I identify with various group memberships such as
white, American, female, catholic, heterosexual, young adult, middle class, and student. The groups I most strongly identify with are white, female,
and student. I most strongly identify as white because race reflects our physical appearance and is an innate characteristic that should be embraced
throughout our lifetime. I most strongly identify as a female because gender is an important factor in human differences. In our society, the male
gender receives more advantages and is perceived to be superior to the female gender. For example, men typically receive a higher salary and are
more likely to advance in the workplace. The female gender has its own, more personal, advantage. Females have the ability to reproduce and, in my
opinion, that is a far greater reward. I most strongly identify as a student because my daily life consists of attending classes and completing school
work. I value that membership because it allows me to advance my education and be surrounded by others who share common goals. My

Personal Values
After completing the Personal Values Questionnaire, I selected five items that represent my personal values. My personal core values are
connectedness, fairness, family, communication, and teamwork. These are the values that affect my decisions making and influence my behavior
while working with students and other professionals in higher education. My values are definitely align with my personal beliefs. Connectedness,
fairness, family, communication, and teamwork are important values to me because they describe the person I am as well as my wants and needs.
Connectedness plays a tremendous role while I help students navigate their application process and it provides for me a sense of belonging in the
department I work with. For instance, as a counselor assistant, I love helping students that need guidance transferring to a four year institution. When
I am assisting students I can relate to some of the difficulties they might be experiencing. Of course, I keep in mind that each student has their own
unique experience, but by having a sense of connectedness, I am able to empathize with their needs. I can connect the dots why some students find
the application process challenging or I am able to identify what other stressors might be affecting their decision making. Furthermore, fairness and
teamwork are important values because through fairness one can have effective teamwork. I believe if there is not fairness within a group, it would
be hard to connect with my colleagues, thus leading to poor comradery. In the context of higher education, teamwork is a vital facet in order to
better serve our students. As a senior counselor assistant, I try my best to be fair with my teammates. I share the group work equally and I always
make myself available to my teammates even after work hours, because I truly care for my group and the well–being of the students.
The last two personal core values that represent who I am is family and communication. Without my family I would not be a caring individual. As the
oldest child in my family, I learned how to communicate to my mother when my siblings and I were encountering hardships with other individuals. I
learned from home what communication consist of and the importance of

Personal Values And Professional Values
Personal values and professional values run parallel in the social work field. Recognizing and managing your personal values while working with
clients is an important task. Concentrating on your professional values is required for a social worker to assist her client to the best of her ability.
During my internship there have been a number of cases that I have had to practice managing my personal values. It has gotten a little easier the
further I get into my internship recognizing my personal values when it comes to my clients. My social worker and I were called out to an
investigation regarding a woman apparently living in a shed with her three children. During the investigation the social worker and I performed a
safety checklist of the home (shed). The home did not possess a legal power source, water supply or indoor plumbing. Meanwhile, the checklist was
performed within the home, as we stepped into the home, it was determined that the home was not the most conventional home. Although this
family's home was less than perfect the social worker and I advocated for the services to help this family stay together. As this investigation came to
an end for the day, I talked to my supervisor about the case. I was surprised to learn that due to the fact that the family had access to all the resources
their home did not have it was acceptable for the social worker to leave the children with their mother. The social worker informed the client she
needed to make some changes to

The Importance Of Personal Values
Personal values and morals have an enormous impact on someone's life because they influence their worldview and decision making. It is important
for one to know their own values and morals in life to gain a better understanding of themselves and the world they live in ("Lecture 1", 2014). This
foundation of belief creates a worldview, or a lens to view the world with (Waddell, 2014). Not only is it important to know one's personal beliefs, but
also where those beliefs came from, why they believe them, and how they affect them. This can often be determined from one's life experiences.
How do you personally define values and morals? The terms "values" and "morals" can often be hard to define because they have similar meanings.
People frequently use them as the same word even though they are different. Values are the rules people live by when determining what is right or
wrong, good or bad, or what they should or shouldn't do ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). On the other hand, morals have a greater importance, or
meaning, to individual's beliefs because they are what motivate people to make or not make certain decisions. More emphasis is placed on what is
good or bad than with values ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). Generally, morals are broadly accepted across individuals in certain cultures,
religions, geographical areas, etc. ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002).
What events, experiences, and teachings have influenced the development of your values and morals?

Personal Values and Beliefs in Relation to Healthcare
Personal Values and Beliefs
I was born and brought up in a traditional Catholic family in the southern state of Kerala in India. It is believed that St. Thomas the apostle of
Jesus established the first church in Kerala as early as AD 52 ("Syrian Catholics of Kerala"). Raised in a Catholic family, the teaching of Christ
was instilled in me from the very early age, and I believe that it motivated me to choose the nursing profession so that I could serve people in need.
It is a fact that a majority of Christian families from Kerala will have at least one nurse. My personal values and beliefs can be equated to my
religious beliefs, so I believe Christ as the healer, and I am doing what He taught being a part in helping patients heal with dignity. The Bible
provides us with abounding examples of this, "Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people" (Matthew 4:23). As a Christian nurse, I am called to carry on with the healing
power of God to my patients.
Belief and opinion about Healthcare Policy
As a Christian, I am proponent of healthcare for all irrespective of race, religion, class or economic condition without any discrimination. Healthcare
should be made as a basic human right, but unfortunately in the United States, the most powerful nation on earth there are millions who cannot afford

My Personal Values Of My Life
I have many values of which have been acquired over the time of my life. Most of which are influenced by my mom and dad as they raised me. Of
the values I value the most are kindness, being considerate of others, cherishing family and friends, and giving respect where it is due. As I have
stated before, the source of these values are from being taught them as I grew up. They have been put into me from my mom, her mom, and my
dad. As I grew up, my parents would teach me what to or not to usually do in certain situations and why they were that way and why I should do it
as they said I should. Because of these lessons they taught me, of which I still use in life till today, I find myself to be a somewhat good person.
An example of this is me being generally kind to just about everyone I meet, which also includes trying my best to be considerate of others. If I am
playing music, I try my best to not have it too loud so it doesn't bother other people, and to not get in the way of people incase if they are in a hurry
for something important. Also, I like to be kind to people and try my very best to make people happy. I would probably say that is one of my bigger
ones. I like to keep people happy, even though I may not always succeed, which ties in with my other goal of trying my very best at everything that I
do. Hard work usually pays off very well, even if the reward is delayed. And another value, of which I usually don't have to try too hard at, is being
optimistic, and being

My Personal Statement On Personal Values
Introduction My personal values act as a basis for determining right and wrong in my daily life. My life, my parents, my husband and my children
have all played valuable roles in the development of my core values. The following is an ever changing personal ethics creed, that I plan on using
to help guide me in my endeavors. My Basic Beliefs I grew up after the age of eight in a divorced home. In the late eighties it was still an oddity to
be a child of Divorce. This is where my strongest beliefs stem from. I watched my mother deal with an abusive husband, while protecting me from
his violent ways. She maintained a strong supportive mother role in the face of significant hardship. From life experience, I feel that fundamental
beliefs come from those experiences, experiences that all of us have. My Fundamental belief is: Do unto others as you would have them do onto
you, the Golden Rule. In the Bible, the Book of Matthew says: "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the
Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 7:12, English Standard Version). This ethos, to me, extends into every aspect of my life. As I try to live my life, to
the best of my abilities, I try to bring this statement into all of my actions. The Golden Rule does not apply only to me, I feel that it should be a
governing mantra of mankind. To make the world hospitable, the Golden Rule should be a pillar in all human interaction. My Controlling Values The
Golden Rule, is about more

My Core Values
As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks
that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete
any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to
further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have
cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial

To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure
she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and
would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a
punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father
instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of
my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not
benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how
to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me
two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always
dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could

My Personal Values Essay
My personal values Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an individual, a group of people, or an organization.
Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each
individual's value system is different from one another because individual's values are built up through one's life experience, environment, and family
background. Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys.
Since we live in a highly connected society, each person's value system does not only affect one's own life, but also affects many other people and the

However, we should pay attention to our manners, utilize our communication skills; and on the bottom line, we need to avoid intentionally hurting
people. When coming across people who have total different opinions from mine, I always act respectfully. For example, at school, we have to do many
team projects; most often, team members may come from total different cultural background, and thus always have different opinions about the same
thing. Being respectful to other students, I am well–mannered, using appropriate language, opening to criticisms, and conducting myself professionally.
If everyone knows how to respect to others and act respectfully to each other, we will easily to get along with each other and thus there be more
happiness and less conflict in our society, so we will make the world a better place. Second, I highly value integrity. Integrity is defined as "a concept of
consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and
truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions." It generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to, others. I
value integrity because it manifests a person's inner strength, honor, kindness, and geniuses of one's soul. According to Kantian moral perspective
whether an action is morally good or not depends primarily in the intentions of the agent performing the

Personal Values, Beliefs, And Attitudes
Introduction As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs, and attitudes. These things develop over the course of our lifetime and at any
point can change based on an experience that we may have. Our family, friends, community and the experiences we have had all contribute to our
sense of who we are and how we view the world.
Values, Beliefs, and a Little About Me
Over the course of my life my values have changed based on circumstance. Currently if I had to list out my top five values in descending order they
would be: religion, family, education, country, and culture. I value religion first and foremost because of my beliefs system that has been instilled
in me since I was a child. " If you place God first in your life, then everything else will work itself out", is something my Grandfather has always
told me. Family is something that doesn 't necessarily come first, but is a very high value to me. I identify as being a very caring father and
husband, the protector, and head of my household. My family has always been supportive of my decisions. They have influenced me to always give
my best at everything and to persevere when I fail. Education is the new value that has began to take a precedence in my life. Education is the bridge
to success that I am striving to succeed at. Without education I cannot properly attend to my family 's needs. The time demand of education also puts it
very high on my values list because it warrants the majority of my attention.

My Personal And Professional Values Essay
In reviewing your personal and professional values, what surprised you, and what helped you affirm your beliefs? Reviewing and examining my
personal and professional values, I have to admit, there is nothing that surprised me. However, there is a lot that affirmed many of my beliefs. The
values and beliefs to which I personally ascribe are undeniably impacted by my upbringing and social environment that I live in. They are the
essence of who I am. My values influence every decision I make, how I conduct myself, and basically how I choose to live my life. I am fifty–two
years old and in this stage of my life, I know that values play an important role in my life and I do recognize them and I know how to articulate
them. Consequently, because I know my own values and beliefs, I knew what I want my employer to look like. Luckily, I was able to find a job
that my values are in alignment with the values of my employer. Both, my employer and I encompass the value of caring. Which according to
Burkhardt & Nathaniel (2014) is integral to the profession of nursing alongside with the value of curing. As a healthcare provider, how do you need
to consider your values, beliefs, cultural beliefs, and ethical core as you solve ethical dilemmas? I do know where I stand in my beliefs, and
sometimes they are in opposite of the people I take care of. As a nurse, I deal with ethical dilemmas almost every day in my practice. Some of them
are simple, some are more challenging, and some quite

Personal Values and Ethic Standards
Values and ethics are one of the most important characteristic of an individual. They basically define who we are and what we believe. There are many
factors that determine our values and ethics. Culture, religion, and many other factors affect our beliefs. Many times are values and ethics can clash with
different people who hold different views and beliefs. This doesn't mean our values or ethics are wrong it just means we think differently than others.
Most people have a good sense of ethics and values. Knowing between right and wrong is a good foundation to practicing good ethics and morals.

I find this true still today. I remember most of my teachers working hard to help me do well in school. They showed a passion that seems to lack in
teachers today. My teachers helped me develop good work habits and studying hard to obtain good grades. I figured that if they spent that much
effort with me I could do my part and work hard to finish my work. This habit has stayed with me through out my life so far. I was fortunate enough
to have a family, extended family, and teachers who took the time to teach good ethics and values. Without their guidance I don't know how I would
be today, it is hard to say but I could be the same or I could be very different.
Today I used the basic principles I was taught and learned as a child to make choices and judgments today. In the decision making process I use
today I still think about my values and ethics. First I try to have all of the information possible about any decision making that I need to do. Having
all of the information is critical to making a proper choice. I listen to others points of views and try to understand them and respect them. Then like I
learned earlier in life, is this decision ethical and moral according to me. Will this decision cause harm to others? Are there legal implications to this
decision? Is this decision within policy guidelines? There are many factors that affect my decision making process but they are based on my personal
values and

Personal Values Development
Personal Values Development The development of personal values occurs over a lifetime of living and experiences. What are personal values? What
sources shape and influence those values? What criteria and decision making may be used to reshape our personal values? What impact do personal
values have in the workplace and on workplace performance? This paper will address these issues from a personal perspective.
Personal Values What are personal values? First, many often confuse values and ethics. The terms are not interchangeable but they also do not exist
separately from each other. Ethics refers to standards of conduct that indicate how one should behave based on moral duties and virtues derived...show

Schools are not value–neutral environments and are committed to teaching the value of truth. Cheating is not condoned and consequences result when
caught. Teachers are role models of behavior and reasoning by the actions they display in their classroom and the structure which they establish for
their students. Each of these things will play a role in the development of personal values. As children become more active and involved in school, the
sphere of influence widens further. Friends, team mates, school organizations, sports activities, and clubs are examples of influence that continue to
mold our value system. Entering the workforce further provides opportunities for our values to be shaped by those surrounding us. Everyone is
affected by the culture and values of the companies they work with. Coworkers, managers, and the company's executives all have the opportunity to
participate in the on–going process of influencing and shaping the values of those around them. Professional organizations and civic activities will also
play a role in the on–going development of personal values.
Do Personal Values Change? A person's values will change as they get older. With aging, maturity and life experiences, an individual may develop a
new and perhaps different understanding of his or her own personal values. What was seemingly important as a child may not be as important as an

Top Five Personal Values Essay
Values are intangible things that are important to us, and that guide us, individually, to make decisions. Each person has a different set of values,
morals, and ethics, which is the reason that each person handles a situation differently. Here, I will discuss my top 5 values, and why they are important
to me.
The one thing that I regard as most valuable is my religion – Christianity. I truly cherish the ability to communicate to God through prayer, because I
believe that it is a very powerful phenomenon. The example Jesus set for us when he was on this planet is another incredible thing; while reaching
the level of perfection that He did is impossible, his standard gives me motivation to do good in the world and to be a catalyst for...show more content...
They teach me how I should serve and love others, by setting an excellent example of kindliness and enthusiasm. A family atmosphere is one of
cooperation, support, and reassurance. Therefore, they give me strength and guidance to do everything well, without regret. My friends are extremely
similar; they are lights in the dark and constant helpers in difficult circumstances. They, too, often help point me in the right direction, and offer
suggestions to better me in any way they can.
Unfortunately, the way that the world functions is that some are better off than others, which is why I value being able to help people. The Bible gives
us a difficult challenge – to, as often as possible, stop thinking about ourselves and put the needs of others before our own. While this can be difficult
to do because it often involves self–sacrifice, it is always worth any expended effort because, as Jesus said, when we serve our neighbor, we also
serve Him. Aiding others in their situations may not always be the "easy way out" or the "cool" thing to do, but that is the beauty of the action – often,
there is no better feeling than to lay down all your personal concerns to help somebody else.
The value of freedom can sometimes be difficult to appreciate – when we live in such a great country, we tend to put a "bubble" around ourselves that
prevents us from realizing the ways in which others are oppressed. However, the right to creatively express

In this assignment, I have the opportunity to critically think about my personal values and how I will manage those values in the context of
professional practice and the best practices that I discovered in my research from Systems Map Part II. Furthermore, I will describe the various ethical
issues faced within service delivery to the homeless woman population–at–risk and describe how the Code of Ethics impacts that service delivery and

believe that striving to be a lifelong learner is the foundation to grow as an individual. Furthermore, striving to obtain an education is very important
to me especially for being a woman in society. Women's live has change greatly within the last 75 years. There was a time when women were not
allowed or able to go to college or vote as American citizens. I grew up in a family that put a high stand on education and so therefore I strive to not

I Have Shaped My Personal Values
Personal Values Personal values reflect what we think is important in life. Such as, the decisions we make and the actions we take. Being
seventeen–years old, I value the respect from younger people. I, however, have various influences in my life, which have shaped my values. For
example, 4–H has taught me how to be a leader. My mother, with her hard work, has taught me how to work for what I long to have. High school has
taught me to be superior than my peers and not to fall prey to peer pressure. In addition, work has demonstrated me to do what I love. As a result, I
found what I am passionate about. After all, these influences have shown me how to be successful and achieve my goals. Firstly, 4–H has taught me
what leadership really means. As a result of acquiring the knowledge of what leadership means, I became a better leader. Generally speaking,
everybody can attain leadership skills. However, putting the skills in action creates good leaders. Everyday smaller children look up to each and
every one of us. Wether we are at the grocery store or at the football game, little kids and even our own peers respect us. For example, during the
fair when showing, the judge will often tell the younger children to watch and learn from the seniors. Furthermore, having people look up to me
whether it is to my knowledge or not affects my values because I aspire to be the best role model for someone else. Consequently, knowing I have
someone watching me, causes me to contemplate before I make any decision or action. For instance, in many social media posts, most people rant
about a subject, before long they apologize for their foul language. In my perspective, the apology does not make the post more acceptable. Social
media is filled with countless negative posts, but a single human being can make the slightest difference in someone's life simply by acting positive.
Being a positive person online additionally to in public, can influence the younger generations to do the same.
My mother has also made a huge impact on my personal values in various diverse forms. For example, as a child I had to ask for permission before I
could watch television or even get a snack. When my friends talk about all the television shows

Social Values: What Is A Personal Value?
What is a personal value?
A personal value is an individual's absolute or relative and ethical value, the assumption of which can be the basis for ethical action. A value system is
a set of consistent values and measures. A principle value is a foundation upon which other values and measures ofintegrity are based. Some values are
physiologically determined and are normally considered objective, such as a desire to avoid physical pain or to seek pleasure. Other values are
considered subjective, vary across individuals and cultures, and are in many ways aligned with belief and belief systems. Types of values include
ethical/moral values, doctrinal/ideological (religious, political) values, social values, and aesthetic values. It is debated whether some values that are
not clearly physiologically determined, such as altruism, are intrinsic, and whether some, such as acquisitiveness, should be...show more content...

want). As said earlier, many people keep themselves in a state of continual agitation by refusing to make focused value decisions.
The second are personal job–content objectives – Identifying what specific combination of skills or competencies (e.g., intellectual, technical,
interpersonal, physical, artistic, mathematical, etc.) candidates want to develop and exercise in their future on–the–job activities. These objectives

Personal Values Essay
"The decisions you make are a choice of values that reflect your life in every way." (Alice Waters, 2016). In light of the above, "Values are moral
principles and beliefs or accepted standards of a person or social group." (Collins English Dictionary 2017). As such, over the years, I have
developed several values that would not only benefit me in the field of social work, but, would be of great significance to all aspects of one's life.
As a young lady, I understood what it meant, to work tirelessly by means of ambition, determination, and fortitude that would yield great results and
achieve personal satisfaction. Experiencing poverty at every junction in my life, from the privation of food, lack of money for public transportation
to attend school or to even purchase school items, birthed the beliefs that I needed to earn my own money. Raised in a household with a single
parent, frequently drove the conception that one day I would build a family of my own and that I would be exultant, loved and find security and
financial stability. Nonetheless, as a form of endurance, I developed the spirit of being independent, creative and artistic. Likewise, being a leader
came naturally to me and I became one who challenged others and enabled them to develop themselves in life and earned the emblem of being
respected. The idea that I could envision making a difference in my environment and in the lives of those I came across, became one of many
encouragements to pursue that dream.

Reflecting on How My Personal Values Shape My Approach to Healthcare

  • 1. My Personal Values My personal values act as a basis for distinguishing between right and wrong and thus, determine my daily actions and emotions. My mom and education have played profound roles in the development of my core personal values: personal integrity, responsibility, and ambition. Additionally, these influences have demonstrated that the rule–based approach determined what conduct is consistent with these key values. Before I was the age of 6, my parents were divorced. Ever since moving back to Pennsylvania in 2004, I have been living with my mom. As a child, my mom taught me to not be dishonest, disrespectful, or self–centered, since they all are morally incorrect in today's society. My mom's ultimate goal is that all individuals deserve their respect regardless of it's age, race, sex, or religion. Her stern belief that "it takes all types to make the world go 'round" has influenced me to use the rights approach from Immanuel Kant and others like him, to focus on the rights of other individuals. "According to these philosophers, what makes human beings different from mere things is that people have dignity based on their ability to choose freely what they will do with their lives, and they have a fundamental moral right to have these choices respected. People are not objects to be manipulated; it is a violation of human dignity to use people in ways they do not freely choose" (Thinking Ethically). Understanding that I am a current undergraduate student at Kutztown University must Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. A Reflection On My Personal Values Essay Value Orientations are an important aspect to social work practice. It is critical that social workers do not let their personal values interfere with their daily work ethic. In addition, social works must keep an objective outlook on the issues they confront because values differ across cultures, race, ethnicity, etc. The purpose of this paper is to provide a critical self–reflection on my personal values. I identify with various group memberships such as white, American, female, catholic, heterosexual, young adult, middle class, and student. The groups I most strongly identify with are white, female, and student. I most strongly identify as white because race reflects our physical appearance and is an innate characteristic that should be embraced throughout our lifetime. I most strongly identify as a female because gender is an important factor in human differences. In our society, the male gender receives more advantages and is perceived to be superior to the female gender. For example, men typically receive a higher salary and are more likely to advance in the workplace. The female gender has its own, more personal, advantage. Females have the ability to reproduce and, in my opinion, that is a far greater reward. I most strongly identify as a student because my daily life consists of attending classes and completing school work. I value that membership because it allows me to advance my education and be surrounded by others who share common goals. My Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Personal Values After completing the Personal Values Questionnaire, I selected five items that represent my personal values. My personal core values are connectedness, fairness, family, communication, and teamwork. These are the values that affect my decisions making and influence my behavior while working with students and other professionals in higher education. My values are definitely align with my personal beliefs. Connectedness, fairness, family, communication, and teamwork are important values to me because they describe the person I am as well as my wants and needs. Connectedness plays a tremendous role while I help students navigate their application process and it provides for me a sense of belonging in the department I work with. For instance, as a counselor assistant, I love helping students that need guidance transferring to a four year institution. When I am assisting students I can relate to some of the difficulties they might be experiencing. Of course, I keep in mind that each student has their own unique experience, but by having a sense of connectedness, I am able to empathize with their needs. I can connect the dots why some students find the application process challenging or I am able to identify what other stressors might be affecting their decision making. Furthermore, fairness and teamwork are important values because through fairness one can have effective teamwork. I believe if there is not fairness within a group, it would be hard to connect with my colleagues, thus leading to poor comradery. In the context of higher education, teamwork is a vital facet in order to better serve our students. As a senior counselor assistant, I try my best to be fair with my teammates. I share the group work equally and I always make myself available to my teammates even after work hours, because I truly care for my group and the well–being of the students. The last two personal core values that represent who I am is family and communication. Without my family I would not be a caring individual. As the oldest child in my family, I learned how to communicate to my mother when my siblings and I were encountering hardships with other individuals. I learned from home what communication consist of and the importance of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Values And Professional Values Personal values and professional values run parallel in the social work field. Recognizing and managing your personal values while working with clients is an important task. Concentrating on your professional values is required for a social worker to assist her client to the best of her ability. During my internship there have been a number of cases that I have had to practice managing my personal values. It has gotten a little easier the further I get into my internship recognizing my personal values when it comes to my clients. My social worker and I were called out to an investigation regarding a woman apparently living in a shed with her three children. During the investigation the social worker and I performed a safety checklist of the home (shed). The home did not possess a legal power source, water supply or indoor plumbing. Meanwhile, the checklist was performed within the home, as we stepped into the home, it was determined that the home was not the most conventional home. Although this family's home was less than perfect the social worker and I advocated for the services to help this family stay together. As this investigation came to an end for the day, I talked to my supervisor about the case. I was surprised to learn that due to the fact that the family had access to all the resources their home did not have it was acceptable for the social worker to leave the children with their mother. The social worker informed the client she needed to make some changes to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Importance Of Personal Values Personal values and morals have an enormous impact on someone's life because they influence their worldview and decision making. It is important for one to know their own values and morals in life to gain a better understanding of themselves and the world they live in ("Lecture 1", 2014). This foundation of belief creates a worldview, or a lens to view the world with (Waddell, 2014). Not only is it important to know one's personal beliefs, but also where those beliefs came from, why they believe them, and how they affect them. This can often be determined from one's life experiences. How do you personally define values and morals? The terms "values" and "morals" can often be hard to define because they have similar meanings. People frequently use them as the same word even though they are different. Values are the rules people live by when determining what is right or wrong, good or bad, or what they should or shouldn't do ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). On the other hand, morals have a greater importance, or meaning, to individual's beliefs because they are what motivate people to make or not make certain decisions. More emphasis is placed on what is good or bad than with values ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). Generally, morals are broadly accepted across individuals in certain cultures, religions, geographical areas, etc. ("Values, Morals, and Ethics", 2002). What events, experiences, and teachings have influenced the development of your values and morals? Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Personal Values Essay Personal Values and Beliefs in Relation to Healthcare Personal Values and Beliefs I was born and brought up in a traditional Catholic family in the southern state of Kerala in India. It is believed that St. Thomas the apostle of Jesus established the first church in Kerala as early as AD 52 ("Syrian Catholics of Kerala"). Raised in a Catholic family, the teaching of Christ was instilled in me from the very early age, and I believe that it motivated me to choose the nursing profession so that I could serve people in need. It is a fact that a majority of Christian families from Kerala will have at least one nurse. My personal values and beliefs can be equated to my religious beliefs, so I believe Christ as the healer, and I am doing what He taught being a part in helping patients heal with dignity. The Bible provides us with abounding examples of this, "Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people" (Matthew 4:23). As a Christian nurse, I am called to carry on with the healing power of God to my patients. Belief and opinion about Healthcare Policy As a Christian, I am proponent of healthcare for all irrespective of race, religion, class or economic condition without any discrimination. Healthcare should be made as a basic human right, but unfortunately in the United States, the most powerful nation on earth there are millions who cannot afford Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Personal Values Of My Life I have many values of which have been acquired over the time of my life. Most of which are influenced by my mom and dad as they raised me. Of the values I value the most are kindness, being considerate of others, cherishing family and friends, and giving respect where it is due. As I have stated before, the source of these values are from being taught them as I grew up. They have been put into me from my mom, her mom, and my dad. As I grew up, my parents would teach me what to or not to usually do in certain situations and why they were that way and why I should do it as they said I should. Because of these lessons they taught me, of which I still use in life till today, I find myself to be a somewhat good person. An example of this is me being generally kind to just about everyone I meet, which also includes trying my best to be considerate of others. If I am playing music, I try my best to not have it too loud so it doesn't bother other people, and to not get in the way of people incase if they are in a hurry for something important. Also, I like to be kind to people and try my very best to make people happy. I would probably say that is one of my bigger ones. I like to keep people happy, even though I may not always succeed, which ties in with my other goal of trying my very best at everything that I do. Hard work usually pays off very well, even if the reward is delayed. And another value, of which I usually don't have to try too hard at, is being optimistic, and being Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Personal Statement On Personal Values Introduction My personal values act as a basis for determining right and wrong in my daily life. My life, my parents, my husband and my children have all played valuable roles in the development of my core values. The following is an ever changing personal ethics creed, that I plan on using to help guide me in my endeavors. My Basic Beliefs I grew up after the age of eight in a divorced home. In the late eighties it was still an oddity to be a child of Divorce. This is where my strongest beliefs stem from. I watched my mother deal with an abusive husband, while protecting me from his violent ways. She maintained a strong supportive mother role in the face of significant hardship. From life experience, I feel that fundamental beliefs come from those experiences, experiences that all of us have. My Fundamental belief is: Do unto others as you would have them do onto you, the Golden Rule. In the Bible, the Book of Matthew says: "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 7:12, English Standard Version). This ethos, to me, extends into every aspect of my life. As I try to live my life, to the best of my abilities, I try to bring this statement into all of my actions. The Golden Rule does not apply only to me, I feel that it should be a governing mantra of mankind. To make the world hospitable, the Golden Rule should be a pillar in all human interaction. My Controlling Values The Golden Rule, is about more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay about My Core Values Tamneicha Mcdavid Prof.Beck ENC 1101 July 30, 2009 Example Essay My Core Values As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial The first...show more content... To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could possibly

  • 11. My Personal Values Essay My personal values Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an individual, a group of people, or an organization. Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each individual's value system is different from one another because individual's values are built up through one's life experience, environment, and family background. Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys. Since we live in a highly connected society, each person's value system does not only affect one's own life, but also affects many other people and the ...show more content... However, we should pay attention to our manners, utilize our communication skills; and on the bottom line, we need to avoid intentionally hurting people. When coming across people who have total different opinions from mine, I always act respectfully. For example, at school, we have to do many team projects; most often, team members may come from total different cultural background, and thus always have different opinions about the same thing. Being respectful to other students, I am well–mannered, using appropriate language, opening to criticisms, and conducting myself professionally. If everyone knows how to respect to others and act respectfully to each other, we will easily to get along with each other and thus there be more happiness and less conflict in our society, so we will make the world a better place. Second, I highly value integrity. Integrity is defined as "a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions." It generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to, others. I value integrity because it manifests a person's inner strength, honor, kindness, and geniuses of one's soul. • 12. Personal Values, Beliefs, And Attitudes Introduction As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs, and attitudes. These things develop over the course of our lifetime and at any point can change based on an experience that we may have. Our family, friends, community and the experiences we have had all contribute to our sense of who we are and how we view the world. Values, Beliefs, and a Little About Me Over the course of my life my values have changed based on circumstance. Currently if I had to list out my top five values in descending order they would be: religion, family, education, country, and culture. I value religion first and foremost because of my beliefs system that has been instilled in me since I was a child. " If you place God first in your life, then everything else will work itself out", is something my Grandfather has always told me. Family is something that doesn 't necessarily come first, but is a very high value to me. I identify as being a very caring father and husband, the protector, and head of my household. My family has always been supportive of my decisions. They have influenced me to always give my best at everything and to persevere when I fail. Education is the new value that has began to take a precedence in my life. Education is the bridge to success that I am striving to succeed at. Without education I cannot properly attend to my family 's needs. The time demand of education also puts it very high on my values list because it warrants the majority of my attention. • 13. My Personal And Professional Values Essay In reviewing your personal and professional values, what surprised you, and what helped you affirm your beliefs? Reviewing and examining my personal and professional values, I have to admit, there is nothing that surprised me. However, there is a lot that affirmed many of my beliefs. The values and beliefs to which I personally ascribe are undeniably impacted by my upbringing and social environment that I live in. They are the essence of who I am. My values influence every decision I make, how I conduct myself, and basically how I choose to live my life. I am fifty–two years old and in this stage of my life, I know that values play an important role in my life and I do recognize them and I know how to articulate them. Consequently, because I know my own values and beliefs, I knew what I want my employer to look like. Luckily, I was able to find a job that my values are in alignment with the values of my employer. Both, my employer and I encompass the value of caring. Which according to Burkhardt & Nathaniel (2014) is integral to the profession of nursing alongside with the value of curing. As a healthcare provider, how do you need to consider your values, beliefs, cultural beliefs, and ethical core as you solve ethical dilemmas? They basically define who we are and what we believe. There are many factors that determine our values and ethics. Culture, religion, and many other factors affect our beliefs. Many times are values and ethics can clash with different people who hold different views and beliefs. This doesn't mean our values or ethics are wrong it just means we think differently than others. I remember most of my teachers working hard to help me do well in school. They showed a passion that seems to lack in teachers today. My teachers helped me develop good work habits and studying hard to obtain good grades. I figured that if they spent that much effort with me I could do my part and work hard to finish my work. This habit has stayed with me through out my life so far. I was fortunate enough to have a family, extended family, and teachers who took the time to teach good ethics and values. Without their guidance I don't know how I would be today, it is hard to say but I could be the same or I could be very different. Today I used the basic principles I was taught and learned as a child to make choices and judgments today. In the decision making process I use today I still think about my values and ethics. First I try to have all of the information possible about any decision making that I need to do. Having all of the information is critical to making a proper choice. I listen to others points of views and try to understand them and respect them. Then like I learned earlier in life, is this decision ethical and moral according to me. Will this decision cause harm to others? Are there legal implications to this decision? Is this decision within policy guidelines? There are many factors that affect my decision making process but they are based on my personal values and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Schools are not value–neutral environments and are committed to teaching the value of truth. Cheating is not condoned and consequences result when caught. Teachers are role models of behavior and reasoning by the actions they display in their classroom and the structure which they establish for their students. Each of these things will play a role in the development of personal values. As children become more active and involved in school, the sphere of influence widens further. Friends, team mates, school organizations, sports activities, and clubs are examples of influence that continue to mold our value system. Entering the workforce further provides opportunities for our values to be shaped by those surrounding us. Everyone is affected by the culture and values of the companies they work with. Coworkers, managers, and the company's executives all have the opportunity to participate in the on–going process of influencing and shaping the values of those around them. Professional organizations and civic activities will also play a role in the on–going development of personal values. Do Personal Values Change? A person's values will change as they get older. • 16. Top Five Personal Values Essay Values are intangible things that are important to us, and that guide us, individually, to make decisions. Each person has a different set of values, morals, and ethics, which is the reason that each person handles a situation differently. Here, I will discuss my top 5 values, and why they are important to me. The one thing that I regard as most valuable is my religion – Christianity. I truly cherish the ability to communicate to God through prayer, because I believe that it is a very powerful phenomenon. The example Jesus set for us when he was on this planet is another incredible thing; while reaching the level of perfection that He did is impossible, his standard gives me motivation to do good in the world and to be a catalyst for...show more content... They teach me how I should serve and love others, by setting an excellent example of kindliness and enthusiasm. A family atmosphere is one of cooperation, support, and reassurance. Therefore, they give me strength and guidance to do everything well, without regret. My friends are extremely similar; they are lights in the dark and constant helpers in difficult circumstances. They, too, often help point me in the right direction, and offer suggestions to better me in any way they can. Unfortunately, the way that the world functions is that some are better off than others, which is why I value being able to help people. The Bible gives us a difficult challenge – to, as often as possible, stop thinking about ourselves and put the needs of others before our own. While this can be difficult to do because it often involves self–sacrifice, it is always worth any expended effort because, as Jesus said, when we serve our neighbor, we also serve Him. Aiding others in their situations may not always be the "easy way out" or the "cool" thing to do, but that is the beauty of the action – often, there is no better feeling than to lay down all your personal concerns to help somebody else. The value of freedom can sometimes be difficult to appreciate – when we live in such a great country, we tend to put a "bubble" around ourselves that prevents us from realizing the ways in which others are oppressed. However, the right to creatively express Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Personal Values In this assignment, I have the opportunity to critically think about my personal values and how I will manage those values in the context of professional practice and the best practices that I discovered in my research from Systems Map Part II. Furthermore, I will describe the various ethical issues faced within service delivery to the homeless woman population–at–risk and describe how the Code of Ethics impacts that service delivery and my own's professional practice. My Personal Values My personal values include putting education and learning as a high priority in my life. I believe that striving to be a lifelong learner is the foundation to grow as an individual. Furthermore, striving to obtain an education is very important to me especially for being a woman in society. Women's live has change greatly within the last 75 years. There was a time when women were not allowed or able to go to college or vote as American citizens. I grew up in a family that put a high stand on education and so therefore I strive to not take education for grand. As a result, the best practice for homeless women population is providing supportive housing because it promotes a healthy well–being and environment to successful overcome their current situation. • 18. I Have Shaped My Personal Values Personal Values Personal values reflect what we think is important in life. Such as, the decisions we make and the actions we take. Being seventeen–years old, I value the respect from younger people. I, however, have various influences in my life, which have shaped my values. For example, 4–H has taught me how to be a leader. My mother, with her hard work, has taught me how to work for what I long to have. High school has taught me to be superior than my peers and not to fall prey to peer pressure. In addition, work has demonstrated me to do what I love. As a result, I found what I am passionate about. After all, these influences have shown me how to be successful and achieve my goals. Firstly, 4–H has taught me what leadership really means. As a result of acquiring the knowledge of what leadership means, I became a better leader. Generally speaking, everybody can attain leadership skills. However, putting the skills in action creates good leaders. Everyday smaller children look up to each and every one of us. Wether we are at the grocery store or at the football game, little kids and even our own peers respect us. For example, during the fair when showing, the judge will often tell the younger children to watch and learn from the seniors. Furthermore, having people look up to me whether it is to my knowledge or not affects my values because I aspire to be the best role model for someone else. Consequently, knowing I have someone watching me, causes me to contemplate before I make any decision or action. For instance, in many social media posts, most people rant about a subject, before long they apologize for their foul language. In my perspective, the apology does not make the post more acceptable. Social media is filled with countless negative posts, but a single human being can make the slightest difference in someone's life simply by acting positive. Being a positive person online additionally to in public, can influence the younger generations to do the same. My mother has also made a huge impact on my personal values in various diverse forms. For example, as a child I had to ask for permission before I could watch television or even get a snack. When my friends talk about all the television shows Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Social Values: What Is A Personal Value? What is a personal value? A personal value is an individual's absolute or relative and ethical value, the assumption of which can be the basis for ethical action. A value system is a set of consistent values and measures. A principle value is a foundation upon which other values and measures ofintegrity are based. Some values are physiologically determined and are normally considered objective, such as a desire to avoid physical pain or to seek pleasure. Other values are considered subjective, vary across individuals and cultures, and are in many ways aligned with belief and belief systems. Types of values include ethical/moral values, doctrinal/ideological (religious, political) values, social values, and aesthetic values. • 20. Personal Values Essay "The decisions you make are a choice of values that reflect your life in every way." (Alice Waters, 2016). In light of the above, "Values are moral principles and beliefs or accepted standards of a person or social group." (Collins English Dictionary 2017). As such, over the years, I have developed several values that would not only benefit me in the field of social work, but, would be of great significance to all aspects of one's life. As a young lady, I understood what it meant, to work tirelessly by means of ambition, determination, and fortitude that would yield great results and achieve personal satisfaction. Experiencing poverty at every junction in my life, from the privation of food, lack of money for public transportation to attend school or to even purchase school items, birthed the beliefs that I needed to earn my own money. Raised in a household with a single parent, frequently drove the conception that one day I would build a family of my own and that I would be exultant, loved and find security and financial stability. Nonetheless, as a form of endurance, I developed the spirit of being independent, creative and artistic. Likewise, being a leader came naturally to me and I became one who challenged others and enabled them to develop themselves in life and earned the emblem of being respected. The idea that I could envision making a difference in my environment and in the lives of those I came across, became one of many encouragements to pursue that dream.
