Great Gatsby Personal Narrative Essay
Personal Narrative People find Gatsby to be great but I doubt it, I'm not like any ordinary person I am a wise man with great vision like an owl
looking for its prey at night. I think that there is more to this person who's called The Great Gatsby I find him as a man who is very good at
deceiving people. Due to my suspicion of Gatsby I investigated further and found evidence or proof of Gatsby's fraud and unoriginal life that he
created himself and fooled everyone. Gatsby is not someone that everyone has talked with or even seen and with his popularity rumours spread
fast, people say that he was a German spy and studied in oxford and some believed he killed a man. During my investigation of the life Gatsby
claim to have I went to his library during one of his huge parties that everyone crashes in I found interesting stuff. A person who studied in oxford
must be well educated it is one of the finest if not the finest universities in the world therefore in his library I examined his books to check if they
were real or not. At first I was quite shocked of what I found the books in his library were real but I checked again for anything that will help me
solving this mystery right after that thought I found that Gatsby did not read any of his books he purchased, he didn't even cut the pages...show more

I was invited to Gatsby's funeral as I expected and mentioned before that Gatsby is not a person who is loved by alot of people, people do not care
about him in the funeral only Gatsby's father, Nick, a couple of servants and I who attended, Nick had a hard time inviting people no one had
emotional feeling for Gatsby. I was the only guest that came both in his parties and his funeral I was the only one who really knew who was really
Gatsby, even though in all my observation of Gatsby I thought Gatsby was worthy enough to attend his

Becoming a Mom Changed My Life Essay
Two of the greatest days of my life were the days my daughters were born. The first time I held the both of them and gazed into their eyes I felt a
sense of relief and hope. The feeling is a warm tingling sensation that engulfed my entire body. The emotions that I felt are beyond what words can
explain. It's amazing to me that in the first few minutes of their lives they completely changed my perception of the world.
Motherhood has taught me many life lessons. Before becoming a mother, I was a self centered child. I had no motivation to succeed. All I was worried
about was where the next party was. At that time I had no want to try because I was so scared to fail. I was slowly progressing to go nowhere and do
nothing with my life....show more content...
They just want to learn about the world around them. They have inspired me to go out and try new things. Every day they grow a little bit more
independent. As they grow, I grow.
I have learned a lot about success from my daughters. For example, I watched them learn to walk. They weeble, they wobble and fall down. But no
matter how many times they fall, they get up and try again. It has taught me that no matter what obstacles occur, if I just continue to try I can and will
succeed.
My daughters are my motivation to succeed. Each day I work very hard to provide for them. Some days I really just want to give up. I don't want to
be a student, I don't want to work. I just want to quit. But when I think to myself how their faces light up at the sight of me, Mommy. I realize that if I
quit now I'm quitting on them. It is no longer about my wants and needs it is about their wants and needs first.
The greatest reward of being a mother is the love I share with my children. It is like no other. It is pure and unconditional. There is no greater
feeling than when my two year old say "Mommy I love you" or when my ten month old gives me kisses. The love we share is the greatest gift from
God that I have ever received.
In the short time that I have been a mother I have learned many things. I have realized that every day is a learning experience. I have taken the mistakes
that I have made and learned from them. My children have pushed me to strive for

Murder Narrative Essay
On September 22, 2014 at 1:30 our group found and documented a murder. A male victim was found dead on the ground with a piece of string
around his neck, drops of blood around the chest, a bloody hand print on lower chest, and a bendable metal wire on the left hand of the victim. The
body was 10.5 inches from the wall. Next to the body not to far from the laptop cart in the back of the classroom was pieces of paper scattered
around in one area. Also two used cups were found on the laptop cart, and one cup had lipstick on it. We've also discovered shattered glass with
blood 13 inches from the back door and 6 inches from the wall. Another piece of evidence is a telephone

Essay Growing Up
When I Grow Up..
"Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up."
–AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood
thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it
is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it
finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting.

"The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives
himself, he becomes wise." –Alden Nowlan As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced
ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we
think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave
for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was
simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it.

Essay about Personal Narrative
Personal Narrative– Mother and Daughter Relationship
I am rummaging through a cardboard box full of pictures, looking for the perfect one to put in one of those sentimental Mother and Daughter word
frames from Hallmark. Finally, a photo falls from the box, and I pick it up, knowing I have found what I am looking for.
It is a picture taken from spring of the year I was four. My mother is sitting on the couch in our living room and I am standing in front of her. The
fabric of our couch is a beige and dark brown flowered print. The wall behind the sofa is covered with dark wood paneling. Mom, wearing a brown
patterned dress, seems to blend into her surroundings. I am standing in front of her, radiant in the dress she has picked out...show more content...
Mom's hand is resting on my right arm, as if she is holding me in the picture's frame. The rest of her features seem to blend into the drab background,
but her right hand shows up clearly as it holds me in place.
My mother hasn't changed since the picture was taken almost sixteen years ago. Her hair style and figure have matured with age, but everything else
has remained constant. She still stands behind me when we go to take a family photograph. She never sees it as trying to hide herself from the
critical eye of the camera, but insists that I step out in front because I am the smaller one, the thinner one, the prettier one. Throughout my entire life,
she has lived by the same philosophy. She always works to push me to the front of the group because she honestly and simply believes that I belong
there. She guides and pokes and prods with the same right hand to ensure that I am not wandering off or wasting my time and energy where it is not
needed.
Looking at the picture, I again notice how clearly her hand shows up on my elbow. The picture doesn't show how tense her hand is as it fights to
keep me in the picture. It doesn't show how tightly her fingers grip my arm as she struggles to keep me where I should be. It also fails to show that
she will let me go if I protest loud enough and pull away with enough force. The furniture, the fashions, and even the walls in the living room have
changed, but her hand remains at my elbow. It

Moving To Canada
In journey of this life we are exploring many events and experiences which are most important to us. This experiences we gain it could be lesson for
some of us, it could be mistake we made or it could be most memorable experience ever gained. Here are some of the experience that I gained in my
life winning geography award, transition from middle school to high school and moving to Canada.
Winning geography was one of the most impactful event in my life. On, 28th June 2015, in my elementary school, I won geography award, this
award is really precious for me because my parents felt proud and were really happy to see me with this award. Achieving this award was really
impactful because it really motivated me to take further studies in geography....show more content...
On February 21st 2014, me and my family immigrated to Canada. It was quite good experience but It was unique because when we moved to Canada
I was nervous about my new school and new house, but people around me in Canada were so great that it was so comfortable on the first day of school.
Moving to Canada was impactful because it affected my families in many ways: new friends, different culture, different communities and different
environment. Many things changed, had different school, new house and different education system but this experience were great. It was unique and
learning experience, it is learning experience because I learned that moving from different country is not easy but with help of supportive, welcoming
and kind environment it is lot easier (& possible). In conclusion, moving to Canada is on of the most unique experience I gained.
In conclusion, life is full of new experience and without those experience we won't be what are we today. For me, my experience reflects me who I
am today, winning geography award made me full of passion for geography, transition to high school made me mature and self–dependent and lastly
moving to Canada made my experience unique. A famous quote by Albert Einstein "The only source of knowledge is

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Moving To A Different State-Personal Narrative
One of biggest unknowns I have faced in life would most likely be the time I moved to a different state for the first time. I was from a particularly
hot state and that state was Georgia, to a colder state up north which was Indiana. Even though I live in Georgia know I am originally from Indiana
and I moved from there when I was 2 months years old. I remember this summer because there was a heat wave that summer and my mom, my brother,
and I were staying with my grandma who didn't have A/C.

Personal Narrative Essay: A Day At The Beach
I stretched my arms out and looked up and down the beach. Although I lived in Waikiki for years, it'd been far too long since I took a vacation, let
alone the beach, since I'm dealing with neverending piles of school assignments and activities. As I strolled along the coastline I can feel the soft
smooth sand beneath my feet. I was taken in by the soothing atmosphere that encircled me. I closed my eyes, letting myself absorb the blistering rays
of the sun on a scorching summer day. The beach was oddly quiet for this time of that year, only a handful of people sunbathing. I didn't mind, I was
going to enjoy myself.
I headed out to the water after setting up my towel. The shock of the frigid water took my breath away and I was momentarily stunned. However, I
quickly recovered; finding my body adjusts rapidly to the cold water. I waded a few feet into it before leaning forward and swimming out. I didn't
dare to go too far though, instead turning to swim parallel to the shore. I was comforted by the sounds of the ocean; the rhythmic pounding of the
waves represses all of my worries. I looked into the cloudless cerulean blue sky and see the perfection of life. Just when I was starting to get tired and
wanted to go back to the shore, I saw something.
Off the distance of the coastline, there was...show more content...

At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading.
Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the
severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my
everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show

You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's
part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very
different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write
because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally.
To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have
to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing
assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar.
The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class
simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to
write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

Writing Strategies to Consider
First Person vs. Third Person Narratives are a mode of writing in which writers often use first person perspective
("I saw", "I did"). Check with your instructor to determine whether you can use "I" when telling your story.
*Verb Tense: Reporting vs. Reflecting The events of most narratives are told inpast tense: "As I hiked, I felt the warm sun on my back." Use present
tense when reflecting on the events: "Now I know how unprepared I was". Notice the change in tense in this sentence as the writer reflects on the past
event, from the

Literacy Narrative In ESL
Literacy Narrative When I first took a look at my first assignment for English Composition I – Write a Literacy Narrative. The first thought it came to
mind was "ESL" (English as of Second Language). I started to reminisce about my first year as a freshman in High School. It was the fall of 1985;
I just had arrived from Colombia as an exchange student. On the first day of School, I reported to the front office, still not knowing what to say or
what to do. I was completely lost and scared; the nice lady at the desk looked at me with a smile and started to talk. I did not understand a single
word of what she was saying at that time, except "Hello". After a few minutes of silence and staring at each other, I gave her a piece of paper that my

Geography, Math, Science, but English? I was just completely in a mortified stage. Would I understand the teacher, classmates? Would I be able to

Essay on Narrative Therapy
Abstract
This paper will look at the logic of narrative therapy by focusing on 5 major points. This paper will begin by discussing how the narrative approach
defines and perceives problems. It will address how narrative therapy views the nature of the relationship between the client and the professional. This
paper will look at how problems are solved using the narrative approach. It will also focus on three main techniques used in narrative therapy, which
will include externalization, deconstruction and re–authoring. This paper will also include a short narrative critique of the medical model. The Logic of
Narrative Therapy Narrative therapy is considered postmodern due to the fact that it uses a story telling approach to...show more content...
According to Kelley (1996) this process is recommended by narrative therapists because it allows the client to begin to see where the discourse
emerged from. The therapist must first just listen to the story and determine what the client sees as the existing problem (Kelley, 1996). Then the
therapist begins to ask questions with the intention of bringing forth the full meaning of the problem (Kelley, 1996). In deconstruction the therapist
searches for answers as to who all is involved with the problem, what past events lead up to the problem development, how the problem changed over
time, how the client has been fighting the problem thus far and how the problem is affecting the client's life (Kelley, 1996).
Kelley (1996) reported that after the therapist has a full understanding of the problem the deconstruction phase moves on to its second stage. The
therapist and the client begin working together to break down the prevailing story in order to map the influence the problem is having on the client's
life (Kelley, 1996). Mapping the effect of the problem is particularly important because it lays the foundation of the new story line (Monk, Winslade,
Crocket & Epston, 1997). According to Monk, Winslade, Crocket & Epston (1997) typically when the effect of the problem is discussed with the
client they begin to feel as if their story has been heard. They

It's the last day of 5th grade. Today we'll find out who our new teacher would be next year, and then it happened! Our teacher handed out our report

I was always an active person from being in sports to hanging out with friends. I always had something planned, or came up with something on the

one organization where I had to be up at school every morning at 7:15 for that meeting. Meaning I would not leave school sometimes until 6:45 to

She past me the ball, I took a jump stop and my left knee turned inward to my right knee. My knee turned so bad that the left one touched the right one
making a popping sound. I fell to the court in pain while the tears mixed with sweat. The coaches had to call for an ambulance to take me to Cook's
Children Hospital.
I sat in the waiting room of that hospital for about an hour and a half. They let the younger children with the ear infections, and mild flu like
symptoms go first. As I sat there in the wheelchair I saw a very familiar face walk through the semi–crowed waiting room. As the face got closer and
clearer, tears began to form and fall to my face. My head coach walked up to me and asked how I was doing. This meant so much to me, to know that
he took time away from his family to see one of his players. We sat there for a while and talked he cracked a few jokes and we shared a few laughs. All
of a sudden my mind started to wonder, and the first thing that crossed was what if it is too bad for me to return to the court within the next two
weeks, or worse for the rest of my high school days.
As I sat there and let the doctor examine my knee and diagnosis me with a "left knee sprain". I started to cry. I already knew the outcome that I had a

Great Gatsby Personal Narrative Essay

  • 1. Great Gatsby Personal Narrative Essay Personal Narrative People find Gatsby to be great but I doubt it, I'm not like any ordinary person I am a wise man with great vision like an owl looking for its prey at night. I think that there is more to this person who's called The Great Gatsby I find him as a man who is very good at deceiving people. Due to my suspicion of Gatsby I investigated further and found evidence or proof of Gatsby's fraud and unoriginal life that he created himself and fooled everyone. Gatsby is not someone that everyone has talked with or even seen and with his popularity rumours spread fast, people say that he was a German spy and studied in oxford and some believed he killed a man. During my investigation of the life Gatsby claim to have I went to his library during one of his huge parties that everyone crashes in I found interesting stuff. A person who studied in oxford must be well educated it is one of the finest if not the finest universities in the world therefore in his library I examined his books to check if they were real or not. At first I was quite shocked of what I found the books in his library were real but I checked again for anything that will help me solving this mystery right after that thought I found that Gatsby did not read any of his books he purchased, he didn't even cut the pages...show more content... I was invited to Gatsby's funeral as I expected and mentioned before that Gatsby is not a person who is loved by alot of people, people do not care about him in the funeral only Gatsby's father, Nick, a couple of servants and I who attended, Nick had a hard time inviting people no one had emotional feeling for Gatsby. I was the only guest that came both in his parties and his funeral I was the only one who really knew who was really Gatsby, even though in all my observation of Gatsby I thought Gatsby was worthy enough to attend his Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Becoming a Mom Changed My Life Essay Two of the greatest days of my life were the days my daughters were born. The first time I held the both of them and gazed into their eyes I felt a sense of relief and hope. The feeling is a warm tingling sensation that engulfed my entire body. The emotions that I felt are beyond what words can explain. It's amazing to me that in the first few minutes of their lives they completely changed my perception of the world. Motherhood has taught me many life lessons. Before becoming a mother, I was a self centered child. I had no motivation to succeed. All I was worried about was where the next party was. At that time I had no want to try because I was so scared to fail. I was slowly progressing to go nowhere and do nothing with my life....show more content... They just want to learn about the world around them. They have inspired me to go out and try new things. Every day they grow a little bit more independent. As they grow, I grow. I have learned a lot about success from my daughters. For example, I watched them learn to walk. They weeble, they wobble and fall down. But no matter how many times they fall, they get up and try again. It has taught me that no matter what obstacles occur, if I just continue to try I can and will succeed. My daughters are my motivation to succeed. Each day I work very hard to provide for them. Some days I really just want to give up. I don't want to be a student, I don't want to work. I just want to quit. But when I think to myself how their faces light up at the sight of me, Mommy. I realize that if I quit now I'm quitting on them. It is no longer about my wants and needs it is about their wants and needs first. The greatest reward of being a mother is the love I share with my children. It is like no other. It is pure and unconditional. There is no greater feeling than when my two year old say "Mommy I love you" or when my ten month old gives me kisses. The love we share is the greatest gift from God that I have ever received. In the short time that I have been a mother I have learned many things. I have realized that every day is a learning experience. I have taken the mistakes that I have made and learned from them. My children have pushed me to strive for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Murder Narrative Essay On September 22, 2014 at 1:30 our group found and documented a murder. A male victim was found dead on the ground with a piece of string around his neck, drops of blood around the chest, a bloody hand print on lower chest, and a bendable metal wire on the left hand of the victim. The body was 10.5 inches from the wall. Next to the body not to far from the laptop cart in the back of the classroom was pieces of paper scattered around in one area. Also two used cups were found on the laptop cart, and one cup had lipstick on it. We've also discovered shattered glass with blood 13 inches from the back door and 6 inches from the wall. Another piece of evidence is a telephone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay Growing Up When I Grow Up.. "Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up." –AmberGrace Seguin Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting. "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional." –Anonymous We all have the choice...show more content... "The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise." –Alden Nowlan As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it. "A grownup is a child with layers on." –Woody Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay about Personal Narrative Personal Narrative– Mother and Daughter Relationship I am rummaging through a cardboard box full of pictures, looking for the perfect one to put in one of those sentimental Mother and Daughter word frames from Hallmark. Finally, a photo falls from the box, and I pick it up, knowing I have found what I am looking for. It is a picture taken from spring of the year I was four. My mother is sitting on the couch in our living room and I am standing in front of her. The fabric of our couch is a beige and dark brown flowered print. The wall behind the sofa is covered with dark wood paneling. Mom, wearing a brown patterned dress, seems to blend into her surroundings. I am standing in front of her, radiant in the dress she has picked out...show more content... Mom's hand is resting on my right arm, as if she is holding me in the picture's frame. The rest of her features seem to blend into the drab background, but her right hand shows up clearly as it holds me in place. My mother hasn't changed since the picture was taken almost sixteen years ago. Her hair style and figure have matured with age, but everything else has remained constant. She still stands behind me when we go to take a family photograph. She never sees it as trying to hide herself from the critical eye of the camera, but insists that I step out in front because I am the smaller one, the thinner one, the prettier one. Throughout my entire life, she has lived by the same philosophy. She always works to push me to the front of the group because she honestly and simply believes that I belong there. She guides and pokes and prods with the same right hand to ensure that I am not wandering off or wasting my time and energy where it is not needed. Looking at the picture, I again notice how clearly her hand shows up on my elbow. The picture doesn't show how tense her hand is as it fights to keep me in the picture. It doesn't show how tightly her fingers grip my arm as she struggles to keep me where I should be. It also fails to show that she will let me go if I protest loud enough and pull away with enough force. The furniture, the fashions, and even the walls in the living room have changed, but her hand remains at my elbow. It Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Moving To Canada In journey of this life we are exploring many events and experiences which are most important to us. This experiences we gain it could be lesson for some of us, it could be mistake we made or it could be most memorable experience ever gained. Here are some of the experience that I gained in my life winning geography award, transition from middle school to high school and moving to Canada. Winning geography was one of the most impactful event in my life. On, 28th June 2015, in my elementary school, I won geography award, this award is really precious for me because my parents felt proud and were really happy to see me with this award. Achieving this award was really impactful because it really motivated me to take further studies in geography....show more content... On February 21st 2014, me and my family immigrated to Canada. It was quite good experience but It was unique because when we moved to Canada I was nervous about my new school and new house, but people around me in Canada were so great that it was so comfortable on the first day of school. Moving to Canada was impactful because it affected my families in many ways: new friends, different culture, different communities and different environment. Many things changed, had different school, new house and different education system but this experience were great. It was unique and learning experience, it is learning experience because I learned that moving from different country is not easy but with help of supportive, welcoming and kind environment it is lot easier (& possible). In conclusion, moving to Canada is on of the most unique experience I gained. In conclusion, life is full of new experience and without those experience we won't be what are we today. For me, my experience reflects me who I am today, winning geography award made me full of passion for geography, transition to high school made me mature and self–dependent and lastly moving to Canada made my experience unique. • 7. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Moving To A Different State-Personal Narrative One of biggest unknowns I have faced in life would most likely be the time I moved to a different state for the first time. I was from a particularly hot state and that state was Georgia, to a colder state up north which was Indiana. Even though I live in Georgia know I am originally from Indiana and I moved from there when I was 2 months years old. I remember this summer because there was a heat wave that summer and my mom, my brother, and I were staying with my grandma who didn't have A/C. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Personal Narrative Essay: A Day At The Beach I stretched my arms out and looked up and down the beach. Although I lived in Waikiki for years, it'd been far too long since I took a vacation, let alone the beach, since I'm dealing with neverending piles of school assignments and activities. As I strolled along the coastline I can feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. I was taken in by the soothing atmosphere that encircled me. I closed my eyes, letting myself absorb the blistering rays of the sun on a scorching summer day. The beach was oddly quiet for this time of that year, only a handful of people sunbathing. I didn't mind, I was going to enjoy myself. I headed out to the water after setting up my towel. The shock of the frigid water took my breath away and I was momentarily stunned. However, I quickly recovered; finding my body adjusts rapidly to the cold water. I waded a few feet into it before leaning forward and swimming out. I didn't dare to go too far though, instead turning to swim parallel to the shore. I was comforted by the sounds of the ocean; the rhythmic pounding of the waves represses all of my worries. I looked into the cloudless cerulean blue sky and see the perfection of life. Just when I was starting to get tired and wanted to go back to the shore, I saw something. Off the distance of the coastline, there was...show more content... Those who are young with energy and risk takers, revel in a hearty chase. This so happens to occur in human nature, something unreachable seemingly captivate our attention, and in turn shadows us even more to grab at it. I know what we saw in each other in those numbered days. A sudden exhilaration for the opposite, with each passing day, we grew more intrigued by each other's mere presence and actions. • 10. Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Literacy Narrative In ESL Literacy Narrative When I first took a look at my first assignment for English Composition I – Write a Literacy Narrative. The first thought it came to mind was "ESL" (English as of Second Language). I started to reminisce about my first year as a freshman in High School. It was the fall of 1985; I just had arrived from Colombia as an exchange student. On the first day of School, I reported to the front office, still not knowing what to say or what to do. I was completely lost and scared; the nice lady at the desk looked at me with a smile and started to talk. I did not understand a single word of what she was saying at that time, except "Hello". After a few minutes of silence and staring at each other, I gave her a piece of paper that my ...show more content... I was so afraid, not because I would not be competent in the classes, but because I did not think I was ready for a full emergent in the language. I was competent and knowledgeable on the subjects assigned, Geography, Math, Science, but English? I was just completely in a mortified stage. Would I understand the teacher, classmates? Would I be able to speak clearly enough, so they would understand me? That weekend, before I was to report to my first all–English class on Monday, I did not sleep nor could I eat anything thinking about that moment. Monday morning I walked into Mr. Garfield English classroom. Mr. Garret was aware of me been assigned to his class; he was standing right at the door. When I came in, the first thing Mr. Garret did, was to ask the class to be quiet for a minute. He then proceeded to introduce me to them. I had never felt such a panic as I did at that moment. I was sweating, quivering; I felt a thousand eyes just staring at me. Mr. Garret quickly noticed my somber demeanor and immediately asked me to have a seat. I am sure he thought I was going to have a panic attack, and I'm not sure if I wouldn't have if he did not step in quickly and asked me to have a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Essay on Narrative Therapy Abstract This paper will look at the logic of narrative therapy by focusing on 5 major points. This paper will begin by discussing how the narrative approach defines and perceives problems. It will address how narrative therapy views the nature of the relationship between the client and the professional. This paper will look at how problems are solved using the narrative approach. It will also focus on three main techniques used in narrative therapy, which will include externalization, deconstruction and re–authoring. This paper will also include a short narrative critique of the medical model. The Logic of Narrative Therapy Narrative therapy is considered postmodern due to the fact that it uses a story telling approach to...show more content... According to Kelley (1996) this process is recommended by narrative therapists because it allows the client to begin to see where the discourse emerged from. The therapist must first just listen to the story and determine what the client sees as the existing problem (Kelley, 1996). Then the therapist begins to ask questions with the intention of bringing forth the full meaning of the problem (Kelley, 1996). In deconstruction the therapist searches for answers as to who all is involved with the problem, what past events lead up to the problem development, how the problem changed over time, how the client has been fighting the problem thus far and how the problem is affecting the client's life (Kelley, 1996). Kelley (1996) reported that after the therapist has a full understanding of the problem the deconstruction phase moves on to its second stage. The therapist and the client begin working together to break down the prevailing story in order to map the influence the problem is having on the client's life (Kelley, 1996). Mapping the effect of the problem is particularly important because it lays the foundation of the new story line (Monk, Winslade, Crocket & Epston, 1997). According to Monk, Winslade, Crocket & Epston (1997) typically when the effect of the problem is discussed with the client they begin to feel as if their story has been heard. • 16. 5th Grade-Personal Narrative It's the last day of 5th grade. Today we'll find out who our new teacher would be next year, and then it happened! Our teacher handed out our report cards and supply list and right on the bottom in big, bold letters, said the name. It was our 6th grade teacher, Mr. Persampire. Just looking at it brought shivers down my back. Throughout the year, everyone heard rumors about him. From how mean he is, to how much he yells, I'm sure all of us was scared. Over the summer, I was really nervous. My thoughts were all messed up that all I could even think about was Mr. Persampire. 'What happens if he is really mean and yells for no reason all the time?' I thought. 'Maybe the rumors are true!' I tried to make the best of it. I am in a good class and maybe he's different this...show more content... BEEP! BEEP! That was the sound of my alarm. He reassured me that those rumors were probably not true and that was the end of it. When I saw my friends, I could see their expressions on their faces. They were all scared! As we walked into school, we remembered all the memories from last year. When we went to our classroom, one of the first things Mr. P said to us was not to be scared. He even made some jokes and we all liked him already. I enjoyed everything about him. He's really different from all of our past teachers. He doesn't yell for no reason, and is really nice! There was something about him that made me really comfortable. After a month of being with him, we already learned new things. I even started participating a lot! He didn't even really yell yet! I like Mr. P because he explains everything to us and does really fun things. One thing that never happened in the past, is that the day goes by really quickly. We are never bored and always have something to do. When we work hard from the morning, by the afternoon, it feels like we've just gotten Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I always had something planned, or came up with something on the fly. My junior year in high school was a very tough time for me. I was involved in a lot of activities, organizations, and clubs. I was very active in one organization where I had to be up at school every morning at 7:15 for that meeting. Meaning I would not leave school sometimes until 6:45 to 7:00 in the evening. On the weekends I would have something to do either with friends or family. I would never go a weekend with nothing to do. Either I was out running errands or at the mall buying some new clothes. My knee turned so bad that the left one touched the right one making a popping sound. I fell to the court in pain while the tears mixed with sweat. The coaches had to call for an ambulance to take me to Cook's Children Hospital. I sat in the waiting room of that hospital for about an hour and a half. They let the younger children with the ear infections, and mild flu like symptoms go first. As I sat there in the wheelchair I saw a very familiar face walk through the semi–crowed waiting room. As the face got closer and clearer, tears began to form and fall to my face. My head coach walked up to me and asked how I was doing. This meant so much to me, to know that he took time away from his family to see one of his players. We sat there for a while and talked he cracked a few jokes and we shared a few laughs. All of a sudden my mind started to wonder, and the first thing that crossed was what if it is too bad for me to return to the court within the next two weeks, or worse for the rest of my high school days. As I sat there and let the doctor examine my knee and diagnosis me with a "left knee sprain". I started to cry. I already knew the outcome that I had a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament). I tried to continue to play on it until one time I was playing in a tournament, and I went up to block a girls shot and landed on my
