Short Story Yale
Yale was just a short runty boy, around 6 years old. He never had a true family but he was always living with someone. Yale does not know who his
real family is and he cannot remember much. He also does not know where he was born or any of his friends. Yale is very short and has some very
strange features about his body. Yale is missing 2 fingers from his dominant hand, which is his right hand. Nobody knows what happened to the
little boys hand and he probably never will. Yale is in Chicago right now but he does not know where in Chicago. None of these things I just
explained are Yale's real conflict though. He had been captured by an old man he does not know. He doesn't know how long ago and he doesn't know
how old he is but he has been...show more content...
When Yale woke up from his unconsciousness he had a quick flashback of his mom and his firstfamily. He had a sister and a brother. His mom used to
do everything for him. That is until she disappeared one day. That's when Yale's life really started going downhill. He went into a stage of his life
where everything was negative. He did not know what to do so he ran away and never went back. That's when he started going from house to
house trying to find something to do. Then this happens, he gets kidnapped and put into a room. Now he is stuck. Put into a bind where his mind
has to fight the will to survive. A problem where only his physical state can keep him from rotting away. Yale is just a kid and kids find ways to get
out of these problems. After the long dreadful day, Yale wanted to hit the hay. His mind was very hectic and he was thinking of a million things. He
finally fell asleep after about 2 hours of rambling about different things. He woke up the next morning at...... he doesn't know what time because he
can't see outside. He woke up and started to try and figure everything about the room out.. He

Weight Loss Supplements : Analysis
In a society which shames a curvy body and worships skin and bones there are various weight loss supplements, programs and exercise routines to
help individuals achieve that ever desired appearance. One weight loss supplement is featured in the August 2015 issue of Family Circle magazine, a
supplement powder called Almased. The advertisement for this product is meant to appeal to the eyes and needs of its target audience, the multitude
of people trying to lose weight or become healthy; however, upon closer analysis of the advertisement as a whole, many aspects may draw a person
towards the product but simple color scheme flaws may lead potential buyers elsewhere. The object of focus in this advertisement is the rather large
photo of a drink which the creators of the ad called a "Strawberry Flaxini." The photo includes in small print the recipe on how to make the tasty
looking beverage. The photographer added fresh cut strawberries to the top of the glass to give the drink a fresher, more natural and safe look, in turn
causing the product to look that way as well. To make the drink look more authentic to its strawberry–promising name seeds are shown throughout it
and the pink color has been enhanced. The background of the advertisement features more recipes that have the added product, each including a
professionally prepared, delicious looking representation of the drinks. A photo of the container in which Almased comes is shown beside a picture of

Creatine Supplements
In this day and age, athletes are constantly looking for different ways to better themselves. Whether it be gaining muscle mass, improving endurance,
increasing strength, etc. no matter what it may be, most athletes find themselves searching for ways to become the best they can possibly be physically
and mentally in order to achieve high results in their respected sport. Performance enhancing supplements have played a vital role and have made a
significant presence in the athletic industry within the last couple decades. One of the most popular performance enhancing supplements is creatine. One
may ask, "why take creatine supplements if our body produces it and you can find it, naturally, in animal foods?" On average, intake of creatine,...show

The creatine supplement group was given four 5 gram doses (20 grams) of creatine each day during the five–day period. The placebo group was given
a twenty grams of a placebo each day, that was similar in both look and taste. Participants were then instructed to take the dosage with 500ml of warm
water before their meals, all while maintaining their normal dietary intake and physical activity throughout the day. The height, weight, and skinfold
thickness was measured at the pre–screening and also on day 6 of testing. The participants were required to report to the laboratory a total of 6
different times: 1 session of familiarization training, 2 sessions of resistance training (day 1 and day 4), and 3 sessions of strength and anaerobic
performance testing (baseline, day 3, and day 6) (Law, 2009). Resistance testing was done by having the participants perform 3 sets of 9 different
exercises. Each exercise was a weight lifting exercise that worked out either the legs, chest, or back. Strength and anaerobic testing was done on a
workout bicycle by having the participants pedal as fast as they could after a 5 minute warm–up. Participants were also asked to do a one repetition
maximum strength test where they maxed out on the Smith press–fixed bar machine. Blood and uring samples were also taken on the morning of each
performance testing session. This was done in order to estimate and compare the amount of creatine ingested to the amount retained by the

Essay on Dietary Supplements
There are many different work out supplements. Some of those work out supplements are Proteins/Amino Acids, Performance Supplements, Energy
Boosting Products, and Vitamins. The first work out supplement we are going to tell you about is Proteins/Amino Acids. One supplement that is
made of Protein is called, "The Ultimate Whey Designer Protein." This designer protein is 68% better than egg white and or regular whey. It mixes
easy and gives you up to 18 grams of protein per scoop. This supplement will run you the consumer about $26.99 each 2 lbs bottle. This should last
you a good 4 weeks. Another protein supplement is Promax Protein. This contains 50 grams of predigested, bioactive protein per serving it also
contains less than...show more content...
There are so many performance supplements that we are only going to talk about 3 of them. The first performance supplement that you can take, if
you take creatine daily is Creatine Monohydrate. Creatine Monohydrate is the best selling performance supplement on the market. Want to know
why? It is the best selling performance supplement because all it is, is nothing but pure 100% creatine. A bottle of this which weighs nothing more
than 250 grams will cost $25.00 or more. It is worth every penny if you take creatine on a daily basis though. Everyone wants to know is creatine
safe? Can it really burn fat and build big muscles quick? No one really knows if creatine is safe. In fact scientists don't even know the long term affect
of using a creatine supplement daily. What we do know is that if you take creatine and it helps build yourmuscle mass with working out is that if you
all of a sudden stop working out all of that muscle will be turned in to fat. Pretty much what you are doing when you take creatine is you are
gambling your life for muscle and a bigger meaner you, but if you do that you are taking your life in to the manufacturers hands. From our
prospective we say don't take it, it is not worth it, but there are some people that will never listen and take it any way and well that is their problem.
Now, does creatine really help burn fat and build big muscles quick? No, no and nobody knows. Creatine definitely doesn't burn fat, nor do creatine

Personal Narrative: My Experience At Yale
At Yale, I serve and engage greatly with the East Asian community outside of merely studying Chinese. I am one of two Freshman Liaisons who staff at
the Asian American Cultural Center, a job which involves the programming and facilitation of events which celebrate Asian Culture in addition to
raising awareness about issues of identity and wellbeing among the Asian community. With the Chinese language more specifically, I am a board
member of CASPY, or the Chinese Adopted Siblings Program at Yale, and am currently in contact with staff at the Yale
China association in hopes of
resurrecting an organized Lion Dance Team on campus. With my positions in the AACC and CASPY especially, I am planning on continuing my work,

How Does Protein Supplements Beneficial?
It will not be wrong to claim that sport is a passion for most of the people. As time has evolved, sports have transformed. It is well said that, "Given
the nature of the sports, it's not surprising that athletes have had some inspiring and motivational things to say about hard work, leadership,
perseverance, winning and much more".(IN TEXT). We should also not forget that this spirit and dedication brings, injuries and weakness. Nowadays,
as technology is at its peak, so are experiments. New and different experiments are carried out to help human health. I recently noticed that a lot of
arguments are being made on the usage of protein supplements by young generations to boost their stamina and performance. There are mixed views
related to supplement intake. I personally believe that protein supplements are beneficial for health and in my essay, I will be discussing that whey
protein can build muscle, increase lean body mass, and overall help athletes reach their goals. The interesting part of my essay will be the outstanding
advantages of whey protein supplements and I will clear the misunderstandings about negative effects of the supplements usage.
The purpose of my essay is to examine how these supplementations are useful for muscles and body mass. There are different perspectives associated
with the intake of such proteins. Whey protein supplementation may increase muscle strength and body mass. This is an important area to work on
because people who work hard on their

Yale Case Solution
1. How is Yale's investment philosophy reflected in its strategic asset allocation? Yale's investment philosophy is one of the critical factors that played
into the success of the fund's performance in the past years. The philosophy is based on 5 principles: focus on equity, diversification, opportunities in
inefficient markets, outside managers and alignment of manager's incentives with Yale's interests. In the paragraphs below I will discuss how each of
these principles is reflected in the endowment's asset allocation, as shown from Exhibit 1. Yale's belief in equities is reflected through the endowment's
heavy allocation in equity from 1985–2010. The weight allocation, however, is heavier in the earlier years (1985–1999) than in later...show more

As asset allocation has reached the efficient frontier, the role of having superior fund manager is becoming more critical. Manager's selection is a factor
that differentiates Yale from other endowments. 3. What are the factors underlying Yale's investment philosophy and process which account for its
successful investment performance? [In other words, in business jargon, what are the "value drivers" of the so–called "Yale model"?] The combination
of five factors in Yale's investment philosophy plays an important role to Yale's successful investment performance. However, among the five factors,
the most critical and non–replicable factors are Yale's ability to identify and invest in inefficient markets and to hire superior managers with aligned
incentives; all of which came from expertise and years of experience in the industry. David Swansen's expertise, in particular, plays a big role. The
success of the model is attributed to Yale's ability to combine both quantitative analysis (mean–variance analysis) with market judgments to structure its
portfolio. In addition, Yale also uses statistical analysis to actively test their models with factors affecting the market, therefore

about the world and I could not find a better place in the world for that than Yale University. Its vast library is overflowing with information that I

"In 1961, Stanley Milgram, a psychologist at Yale University, conducted an experiment on the conflict between obedience to authority and personal
conscience. He examined the justifications for acts of genocide given by those accused at the World War II Nuremberg War Criminal trials. Their
defense often was based on "obedience," and that they were just following orders from their superiors. The procedure was that the participant was
paired with another person and they drew straws to find out who would be the 'learner' and who would be the 'teacher'. The draw was fixed so that
the participant was always the teacher, and the learner was part of the experiment, pretending to be a real participant. Volunteers were recruited for a

When the teacher refused to administer a shock the experimenter was to give a series of orders to prod them to continue. There were four prods given
to the "teachers." If one was not obeyed then the experimenter, Mr. Williams, read out the next prod, and so on. The experimenter starts with, "Please

choice but to continue." The "teacher 's" response determines how many times the prods were stated, but nothing else was said in response except these
four statements. Results As a result, 65% of participants, the "teachers," continued to the 450 volts level. All the participants continued to at least 300

Yale University Investment Office 2006
Summary:
The Case is about the decision of the Yale Investments Office whether to continue to allocate the bulk of the university 's endowment to illiquid
investments––hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and so forth. Important is to consider the risks and benefits of a different asset allocation strategy.
Before the choice between different subclasses, e.g., between venture capital and leveraged buyout funds would be analyzed it is advantageous to get
first background information. Effective management of a university endowment requires balancing fundamentally competing objectives. On the one
hand, the University requires immediate proceeds to support the current generation of scholars. On the other hand, investment managers must...show

Being healthy is the most important thing to improve and protect mind and body. There are a lot of ways to stay healthy such as medical checkups,

taking supplements. Health supplements reduce deficiencies in the bodies of people who need nutrients and cannot find them in nature. The amount of
money spent by Americans on health supplements per year is around one and a half to two billion dollars, so supplements are a good investment for

This research illustrates how omega–3 is important to ensure people with a sick heart will have a healthier heart, so they should not avoid or
procrastinate in taking it. Further, there are other supplements that help to decrease high blood pressure. For example, a lack of zinc causes arterial
plaque and hypertension (Tweed, par.18). Therefore, taking zinc can guarantee maintaining the heart in worthy physical shape. Furthermore, lack of
magnesium can also cause high blood pressure (Tweed, pars.9). Magnesium can solve some health problems, such as heart palpitations and is also
useful for migraines, constipation and muscle cramps (Tweed, pars.9–10). Consequently, magnesium is an effective supplement to reduce high blood
pressure and promote better health. Taking supplements can lead to a healthier heart, so they should be part of a good lifestyle.
Maintaining strong bones is another reason for taking health supplements. They help to increase and maintain bone density. For example, according to "
Vitamin D and Calcium Supplements: Take Them or Leave Them?", calcium contributes to having sturdier bones which is important for aging adults
when their bones become weaker and break easily (par.3). Older adults ought to take calcium to enhance their bones greater strength. Furthermore,
calcium should be taken with Vitamin D so that it can be absorbed

Personal Statement: Why I Love Yale
I love everything from the small class sizes, one on one attention, and the close–knit community. Yale offers world class professors and state of the art
research facilities. The freshman also has the opportunity to conduct original research for projects. In the libraries, even ancient manuscripts and rare
books can be found. I also love Yale's Old England feel architecture. Last but not less, Yale makes theirschool affordable by providing financial aid
packages that do not require students to take out loans. Yale 100% meets the financial needs of every undergraduate.

Parsons Application Essay Sample
Parsons has an outstanding reputation, ideal location and came highly recommended by many other artistic students at my school who plan on
applying. However, what really made me feel that I belong at Parsons was the artistically diverse community it has attracted, and the values it preaches.
Ever since my first family day trip to New York at the age of eight, I have been taken with this city that is teeming with diversity and art. It was my
first time really seeing all walks of life, the good the bad and the ugly, unfiltered. Since then I went back every year for my birthday and began telling
my mother and my best friend that I was going to live there one day. I belonged there.

many of Parson's values. I too think that working towards a more sustainable earth is one of the most important things one can do in their life. Also,
as a queer female I find the accepting environment at Parsons to be very important. As someone who has volunteered cooking and serving dinner at

In M2 we have been set the question 'What are vitamins – and who needs them'? Vitamins are essential substances that cannot be manufactured by the
body. We need small amounts of vitamins for growth and development. Without vitamins the body cannot survive.
Plenty of foods naturally contain vitamins. Some popular foods, such ass breakfast cereals, are protected with vitamins and minerals. But there are
some people who are very particular and do not like to eat a lot of foods. Those people do not gain all the vitamins they need therefore they wont be
healthy. Also, young baby's can only eat certain amounts of food, this means that they are not receiving all the vitamins either, and they will need to

The Benefits of vitamin C are:
Protection against...
–Immune system deficiencies
–Cardiovascular disease
–Prenatal health problems
–Eye disease
–Skin wrinkling
– Scurvy
– And many others
"A recent study published in Seminars in Preventive and Alternative Medicine that looked at over 100 studies over 10 years revealed a growing list of
benefits of vitamin C" (Kathleen M. Zelman, 2010).
The Limitations of vitamin C are:
As with other nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, over intake or overdose of vitamin C can become damage to our health. Toxicity of vitamin C can
cause nausea, diarrhoea, fatigue, insomnia, flashes or rashes, kidney stones, etc. The amount of vitamin C cannot be higher than 3000mg/day "Actually
2000mg/day is considered to be high for adults" (Ly Pham, 2011).
Vitamin C should be taken in through diets, fruits and vegetables so that it can have its best effects and is good for our health. Vitamin C supplements
are only used as addition if our bodies do not have enough Vitamin C.
The role of vitamin C in preventing cold is not totally proved, and in fact some researchers found no links between vitamin C and its cold–fighting
potential. Therefore, do not fall under the misapprehension of taking too much vitamin C when you have a cold or flu since you can be overdosed and
suffer from vitamin C

Yale School Of Medicine Personal Statement

Sports Supplements Essay
Sports Supplements
Athletes are competitive. They go out there to win. But, at all costs? Why are athletes willing to sacrifice their long term health in order to have one
outstanding season? Will it be worth it when they are hooked up to machines in order to stay alive? Many athletes do not think that taking a supplement
will harm them. They are strong, tough athletes, nothing can harm them, right? So, they start taking creatine or andro, or both. For most, they lose body
fat, gain strength and muscle. That sounds great, but that is not always what happens. The use of over–the–counter sports supplements is dangerous
and the FDA should take them off the shelf.

This is because this type of creatine is pure. The body gets its natural creatine from red meat. But, red meat is not one hundred percent creatine. The

Androstenedione (Andro) is a hormonally based supplement that is supposed to help weight lifters add muscle. Andro is taken orally and goes to the
liver. The liver destroys most of what is ingested, but what does survive combines with various enzymes and temporarily boosts testosterone levels. This
boost in testosterone allows an athlete to perform at a level above what he usually does. "Androstendione is an honest–to–goodness steroid and a
precursor to testosterone." If an athlete takes andro before he goes to the gym, he will be able to lift more, and thus increase strength and size.
Although it is not legally considered an anabolic steroid at this time, andro acts exactly as they do. "Many endocrinologists insist that the
differences between supplements like androstenedione and traditional steroids (which are legal only for certain medical conditions) are trivial."
In Canada a prescription is needed to get andro, but in the US it is an over–the–counter drug. If they essentially have the same effects, then one should
not be illegal and the other legal. "The American College of Sports Medicine says anabolic steroids such as androstenedione as well as other

Short Story Yale

  • 1. Short Story Yale Yale was just a short runty boy, around 6 years old. He never had a true family but he was always living with someone. Yale does not know who his real family is and he cannot remember much. He also does not know where he was born or any of his friends. Yale is very short and has some very strange features about his body. Yale is missing 2 fingers from his dominant hand, which is his right hand. Nobody knows what happened to the little boys hand and he probably never will. Yale is in Chicago right now but he does not know where in Chicago. None of these things I just explained are Yale's real conflict though. He had been captured by an old man he does not know. He doesn't know how long ago and he doesn't know how old he is but he has been...show more content... When Yale woke up from his unconsciousness he had a quick flashback of his mom and his firstfamily. He had a sister and a brother. His mom used to do everything for him. That is until she disappeared one day. That's when Yale's life really started going downhill. He went into a stage of his life where everything was negative. He did not know what to do so he ran away and never went back. That's when he started going from house to house trying to find something to do. Then this happens, he gets kidnapped and put into a room. Now he is stuck. Put into a bind where his mind has to fight the will to survive. A problem where only his physical state can keep him from rotting away. Yale is just a kid and kids find ways to get out of these problems. After the long dreadful day, Yale wanted to hit the hay. His mind was very hectic and he was thinking of a million things. He finally fell asleep after about 2 hours of rambling about different things. He woke up the next morning at...... he doesn't know what time because he can't see outside. He woke up and started to try and figure everything about the room out.. • 2. Weight Loss Supplements : Analysis In a society which shames a curvy body and worships skin and bones there are various weight loss supplements, programs and exercise routines to help individuals achieve that ever desired appearance. One weight loss supplement is featured in the August 2015 issue of Family Circle magazine, a supplement powder called Almased. The advertisement for this product is meant to appeal to the eyes and needs of its target audience, the multitude of people trying to lose weight or become healthy; however, upon closer analysis of the advertisement as a whole, many aspects may draw a person towards the product but simple color scheme flaws may lead potential buyers elsewhere. The object of focus in this advertisement is the rather large photo of a drink which the creators of the ad called a "Strawberry Flaxini." The photo includes in small print the recipe on how to make the tasty looking beverage. The photographer added fresh cut strawberries to the top of the glass to give the drink a fresher, more natural and safe look, in turn causing the product to look that way as well. To make the drink look more authentic to its strawberry–promising name seeds are shown throughout it and the pink color has been enhanced. The background of the advertisement features more recipes that have the added product, each including a professionally prepared, delicious looking representation of the drinks. A photo of the container in which Almased comes is shown beside a picture of a "14–Day Figure Plan" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Creatine Supplements In this day and age, athletes are constantly looking for different ways to better themselves. Whether it be gaining muscle mass, improving endurance, increasing strength, etc. no matter what it may be, most athletes find themselves searching for ways to become the best they can possibly be physically and mentally in order to achieve high results in their respected sport. Performance enhancing supplements have played a vital role and have made a significant presence in the athletic industry within the last couple decades. One of the most popular performance enhancing supplements is creatine. One may ask, "why take creatine supplements if our body produces it and you can find it, naturally, in animal foods?" On average, intake of creatine,...show more content... The creatine supplement group was given four 5 gram doses (20 grams) of creatine each day during the five–day period. The placebo group was given a twenty grams of a placebo each day, that was similar in both look and taste. Participants were then instructed to take the dosage with 500ml of warm water before their meals, all while maintaining their normal dietary intake and physical activity throughout the day. The height, weight, and skinfold thickness was measured at the pre–screening and also on day 6 of testing. The participants were required to report to the laboratory a total of 6 different times: 1 session of familiarization training, 2 sessions of resistance training (day 1 and day 4), and 3 sessions of strength and anaerobic performance testing (baseline, day 3, and day 6) (Law, 2009). Resistance testing was done by having the participants perform 3 sets of 9 different exercises. Each exercise was a weight lifting exercise that worked out either the legs, chest, or back. Strength and anaerobic testing was done on a workout bicycle by having the participants pedal as fast as they could after a 5 minute warm–up. Participants were also asked to do a one repetition maximum strength test where they maxed out on the Smith press–fixed bar machine. Blood and uring samples were also taken on the morning of each performance testing session. This was done in order to estimate and compare the amount of creatine ingested to the amount retained by the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on Dietary Supplements There are many different work out supplements. Some of those work out supplements are Proteins/Amino Acids, Performance Supplements, Energy Boosting Products, and Vitamins. The first work out supplement we are going to tell you about is Proteins/Amino Acids. One supplement that is made of Protein is called, "The Ultimate Whey Designer Protein." This designer protein is 68% better than egg white and or regular whey. It mixes easy and gives you up to 18 grams of protein per scoop. This supplement will run you the consumer about $26.99 each 2 lbs bottle. This should last you a good 4 weeks. Another protein supplement is Promax Protein. This contains 50 grams of predigested, bioactive protein per serving it also contains less than...show more content... There are so many performance supplements that we are only going to talk about 3 of them. The first performance supplement that you can take, if you take creatine daily is Creatine Monohydrate. Creatine Monohydrate is the best selling performance supplement on the market. Want to know why? It is the best selling performance supplement because all it is, is nothing but pure 100% creatine. A bottle of this which weighs nothing more than 250 grams will cost $25.00 or more. It is worth every penny if you take creatine on a daily basis though. Everyone wants to know is creatine safe? Can it really burn fat and build big muscles quick? No one really knows if creatine is safe. In fact scientists don't even know the long term affect of using a creatine supplement daily. What we do know is that if you take creatine and it helps build yourmuscle mass with working out is that if you all of a sudden stop working out all of that muscle will be turned in to fat. Pretty much what you are doing when you take creatine is you are gambling your life for muscle and a bigger meaner you, but if you do that you are taking your life in to the manufacturers hands. From our prospective we say don't take it, it is not worth it, but there are some people that will never listen and take it any way and well that is their problem. Now, does creatine really help burn fat and build big muscles quick? No, no and nobody knows. Creatine definitely doesn't burn fat, nor do creatine supplements Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I am one of two Freshman Liaisons who staff at the Asian American Cultural Center, a job which involves the programming and facilitation of events which celebrate Asian Culture in addition to raising awareness about issues of identity and wellbeing among the Asian community. With the Chinese language more specifically, I am a board member of CASPY, or the Chinese Adopted Siblings Program at Yale, and am currently in contact with staff at the Yale China association in hopes of resurrecting an organized Lion Dance Team on campus. • 6. How Does Protein Supplements Beneficial? It will not be wrong to claim that sport is a passion for most of the people. As time has evolved, sports have transformed. It is well said that, "Given the nature of the sports, it's not surprising that athletes have had some inspiring and motivational things to say about hard work, leadership, perseverance, winning and much more".(IN TEXT). We should also not forget that this spirit and dedication brings, injuries and weakness. Nowadays, as technology is at its peak, so are experiments. New and different experiments are carried out to help human health. I recently noticed that a lot of arguments are being made on the usage of protein supplements by young generations to boost their stamina and performance. There are mixed views related to supplement intake. I personally believe that protein supplements are beneficial for health and in my essay, I will be discussing that whey protein can build muscle, increase lean body mass, and overall help athletes reach their goals. The interesting part of my essay will be the outstanding advantages of whey protein supplements and I will clear the misunderstandings about negative effects of the supplements usage. The purpose of my essay is to examine how these supplementations are useful for muscles and body mass. There are different perspectives associated with the intake of such proteins. Whey protein supplementation may increase muscle strength and body mass. This is an important area to work on because people who work hard on their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Yale Case Solution 1. How is Yale's investment philosophy reflected in its strategic asset allocation? Yale's investment philosophy is one of the critical factors that played into the success of the fund's performance in the past years. The philosophy is based on 5 principles: focus on equity, diversification, opportunities in inefficient markets, outside managers and alignment of manager's incentives with Yale's interests. In the paragraphs below I will discuss how each of these principles is reflected in the endowment's asset allocation, as shown from Exhibit 1. Yale's belief in equities is reflected through the endowment's heavy allocation in equity from 1985–2010. The weight allocation, however, is heavier in the earlier years (1985–1999) than in later...show more content... As asset allocation has reached the efficient frontier, the role of having superior fund manager is becoming more critical. Manager's selection is a factor that differentiates Yale from other endowments. 3. What are the factors underlying Yale's investment philosophy and process which account for its successful investment performance? [In other words, in business jargon, what are the "value drivers" of the so–called "Yale model"?] The combination of five factors in Yale's investment philosophy plays an important role to Yale's successful investment performance. However, among the five factors, the most critical and non–replicable factors are Yale's ability to identify and invest in inefficient markets and to hire superior managers with aligned incentives; all of which came from expertise and years of experience in the industry. David Swansen's expertise, in particular, plays a big role. The success of the model is attributed to Yale's ability to combine both quantitative analysis (mean–variance analysis) with market judgments to structure its portfolio. In addition, Yale also uses statistical analysis to actively test their models with factors affecting the market, therefore Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Ever since I was a young boy, I yearned to know more about the world and I could not find a better place in the world for that than Yale University. Its vast library is overflowing with information that I would love to fill my brain with. It lets people like me read its books and use the gained knowledge within my world. • 9. "In 1961, Stanley Milgram, a psychologist at Yale University, conducted an experiment on the conflict between obedience to authority and personal conscience. He examined the justifications for acts of genocide given by those accused at the World War II Nuremberg War Criminal trials. Their defense often was based on "obedience," and that they were just following orders from their superiors. The procedure was that the participant was paired with another person and they drew straws to find out who would be the 'learner' and who would be the 'teacher'. The draw was fixed so that the participant was always the teacher, and the learner was part of the experiment, pretending to be a real participant. When the teacher refused to administer a shock the experimenter was to give a series of orders to prod them to continue. There were four prods given to the "teachers." If one was not obeyed then the experimenter, Mr. Williams, read out the next prod, and so on. The experimenter starts with, "Please continue," "The experiment requires you to continue," and continues with, "It is absolutely essential that you continue," and, "You have no other choice but to continue." The "teacher 's" response determines how many times the prods were stated, but nothing else was said in response except these four statements. Results As a result, 65% of participants, the "teachers," continued to the 450 volts level. All the participants continued to at least 300 volts. Milgram conducted more than one experiment. He carried out 18 variations of this study, altering the situation to see how this affected obedience. Conclusion In conclusion, ordinary people are more likely to follow orders given by an authoritative person, even to extreme extents. Obedience to authority is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Yale University Investment Office 2006 Summary: The Case is about the decision of the Yale Investments Office whether to continue to allocate the bulk of the university 's endowment to illiquid investments––hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and so forth. Important is to consider the risks and benefits of a different asset allocation strategy. Before the choice between different subclasses, e.g., between venture capital and leveraged buyout funds would be analyzed it is advantageous to get first background information. Effective management of a university endowment requires balancing fundamentally competing objectives. On the one hand, the University requires immediate proceeds to support the current generation of scholars. On the other hand, investment managers must...show more content... • 11. Being healthy is the most important thing to improve and protect mind and body. There are a lot of ways to stay healthy such as medical checkups, exercise, stress reduction, adequate sleep and eating properly. A healthy diet includes avoiding foods with poor nutrition, eating certain foods and taking supplements. Health supplements reduce deficiencies in the bodies of people who need nutrients and cannot find them in nature. The amount of money spent by Americans on health supplements per year is around one and a half to two billion dollars, so supplements are a good investment for their health. However, some people believe that the need for supplements is "marketing", and a waste of money. They assume supplements are not necessary for...show more content... This research illustrates how omega–3 is important to ensure people with a sick heart will have a healthier heart, so they should not avoid or procrastinate in taking it. Further, there are other supplements that help to decrease high blood pressure. For example, a lack of zinc causes arterial plaque and hypertension (Tweed, par.18). Therefore, taking zinc can guarantee maintaining the heart in worthy physical shape. Furthermore, lack of magnesium can also cause high blood pressure (Tweed, pars.9). Magnesium can solve some health problems, such as heart palpitations and is also useful for migraines, constipation and muscle cramps (Tweed, pars.9–10). Consequently, magnesium is an effective supplement to reduce high blood pressure and promote better health. Taking supplements can lead to a healthier heart, so they should be part of a good lifestyle. Maintaining strong bones is another reason for taking health supplements. They help to increase and maintain bone density. For example, according to " Vitamin D and Calcium Supplements: Take Them or Leave Them?", calcium contributes to having sturdier bones which is important for aging adults when their bones become weaker and break easily (par.3). Older adults ought to take calcium to enhance their bones greater strength. Furthermore, calcium should be taken with Vitamin D so that it can be absorbed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Yale offers world class professors and state of the art research facilities. The freshman also has the opportunity to conduct original research for projects. In the libraries, even ancient manuscripts and rare books can be found. I also love Yale's Old England feel architecture. Last but not less, Yale makes theirschool affordable by providing financial aid packages that do not require students to take out loans. Yale 100% meets the financial needs of every undergraduate. • 13. Parsons Application Essay Sample Parsons has an outstanding reputation, ideal location and came highly recommended by many other artistic students at my school who plan on applying. However, what really made me feel that I belong at Parsons was the artistically diverse community it has attracted, and the values it preaches. Ever since my first family day trip to New York at the age of eight, I have been taken with this city that is teeming with diversity and art. It was my first time really seeing all walks of life, the good the bad and the ugly, unfiltered. Since then I went back every year for my birthday and began telling my mother and my best friend that I was going to live there one day. I belonged there. Anna Sui, on Broome Street in New York became a very important place to me. Every time I visited I could slip into a small world of goth art and unashamed extravagant...show more content... However, as a multifaceted creative mind I have experimented and sought instruction not only in drawing but also ceramics, photography, knitting, quilting, singing, baking and guitar. I find the inclusion of all creative types at Parsons very personally reassuring. I feel that should I at some point decide that drawing is not the most fulfilling medium, I trust that I can find another medium to thrive in at this school. I am proud to say that I share many of Parson's values. I too think that working towards a more sustainable earth is one of the most important things one can do in their life. Also, as a queer female I find the accepting environment at Parsons to be very important. As someone who has volunteered cooking and serving dinner at my local homeless shelters, it makes me happy to see that parsons students are using their education to help the many less fortunate people in New York with projects such as the GoodFill bag. I would be proud to attend a school so determined to change the future of our world for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Personal Statement: Yale School Of Medicine For as long as I remembered, I have always dreamed of becoming a physician. I want to use the knowledge I have to ease the suffering of others and help cure them. I believe Yale is the perfect place for me to start realizing my dream. When I first learned about Yale School of Medicine, I was intrigued by the Yale System. I was drawn in by the respect Yale has for student initiative and its emphasis on providing guidance as opposed to promoting competition. I feel that fosters an environment where I would be encouraged to learn for the sake of gaining knowledge as opposed to achieving a specific rank. With the new curriculum in place starting in 2015, Yale introduces clinical experience to its students very early on. A key aspect of being a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Introduction: In M2 we have been set the question 'What are vitamins – and who needs them'? Vitamins are essential substances that cannot be manufactured by the body. We need small amounts of vitamins for growth and development. Without vitamins the body cannot survive. Plenty of foods naturally contain vitamins. Some popular foods, such ass breakfast cereals, are protected with vitamins and minerals. But there are some people who are very particular and do not like to eat a lot of foods. Those people do not gain all the vitamins they need therefore they wont be healthy. Also, young baby's can only eat certain amounts of food, this means that they are not receiving all the vitamins either, and they will need to take supplements to...show more content... • 16. The Limitations of vitamin C are: As with other nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, over intake or overdose of vitamin C can become damage to our health. Toxicity of vitamin C can cause nausea, diarrhoea, fatigue, insomnia, flashes or rashes, kidney stones, etc. The amount of vitamin C cannot be higher than 3000mg/day "Actually 2000mg/day is considered to be high for adults" (Ly Pham, 2011). Vitamin C should be taken in through diets, fruits and vegetables so that it can have its best effects and is good for our health. Vitamin C supplements are only used as addition if our bodies do not have enough Vitamin C. The role of vitamin C in preventing cold is not totally proved, and in fact some researchers found no links between vitamin C and its cold–fighting potential. Therefore, do not fall under the misapprehension of taking too much vitamin C when you have a cold or flu since you can be overdosed and suffer from vitamin C Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Here I served on the tech team where I programed computers, Ipads, and laptops. Other times, I set up classrooms by moving desks across campus, from classroom to classroom, or set up modems for computers in the different computer labs. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Solution to Case on Yale Model 1. In addition, Yale also uses statistical analysis to actively test their models with factors affecting the market, therefore understanding the sensitivity of their portfolio in response to various market changes. Yale also follows and forecasts the cash flow of private equity and real assets in its portfolio to decide the need for hedging. And finally, Yale's long –standing relationship with private equity and venture capitalists gives Yale access to high–return investments that are not accessible to new comers otherwise. 4. • 19. Yale School Of Medicine Personal Statement As I mentioned in my personal statement, I am in pursuit of a quality education and here, I share a few reasons why I believe the Yale School of Medicine will provide me with what I seek. Firstly, I am interested in the Yale School of Medicine because I will be groomed for success in my long–term goals at this institution. I believe this because the school's mission involves educating and inspiring medical scholars as well as future leaders. As an aspiring physician, I do not plan to use the knowledge I will gain in medical school solely in my practice of medicine. I intend to also use that knowledge to pilot positive changes in the practice of obstetric medicine in Nigeria. Consequently, I know that attending this institution will not only teach me to be a scholar in the field of medicine but also a leader....show more content... From my time as an emergency department scribe, I have observed that it is important for physicians to be able to competently work in teams of healthcare providers as it is the quality of care a patient receives that suffers when teamwork is lacking. I believe that early clinical experience is a way to improve teamwork competency in providers and as a result, I went on a quest for medical schools that allow students to gain early clinical experience. I was quite pleased upon discovering that the Yale School of Medicine runs the Longitudinal Clinical Experience which enables students to be involved in patient care right from the start of their programs. I believe that early clinical experience will allow me to improve my teamwork competency and also gain an understanding of other clinical realities that simulations may not adequately model such as the complexities of the healthcare Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Sports Supplements Essay Sports Supplements Athletes are competitive. They go out there to win. But, at all costs? Why are athletes willing to sacrifice their long term health in order to have one outstanding season? Will it be worth it when they are hooked up to machines in order to stay alive? Many athletes do not think that taking a supplement will harm them. They are strong, tough athletes, nothing can harm them, right? So, they start taking creatine or andro, or both. For most, they lose body fat, gain strength and muscle. That sounds great, but that is not always what happens. The use of over–the–counter sports supplements is dangerous and the FDA should take them off the shelf. Supplements are supposed to be taken to make up for a deficiency in some...show more content... This is because this type of creatine is pure. The body gets its natural creatine from red meat. But, red meat is not one hundred percent creatine. The body cannot handle the potency of this supplement. Androstenedione (Andro) is a hormonally based supplement that is supposed to help weight lifters add muscle. Andro is taken orally and goes to the liver. The liver destroys most of what is ingested, but what does survive combines with various enzymes and temporarily boosts testosterone levels. This boost in testosterone allows an athlete to perform at a level above what he usually does. "Androstendione is an honest–to–goodness steroid and a precursor to testosterone." If an athlete takes andro before he goes to the gym, he will be able to lift more, and thus increase strength and size. Although it is not legally considered an anabolic steroid at this time, andro acts exactly as they do. "Many endocrinologists insist that the differences between supplements like androstenedione and traditional steroids (which are legal only for certain medical conditions) are trivial." In Canada a prescription is needed to get andro, but in the US it is an over–the–counter drug. If they essentially have the same effects, then one should not be illegal and the other legal. "The American College of Sports Medicine says anabolic steroids such as androstenedione as well as other 'dietary supplements' should be reevaluated and considered Get more content on HelpWriting.net
