Operation Fun Research Paper
Operation Fun High school, for many students, is prison. A prison that holds us for seven hours every day, five days a week. This type of attitude is
what ruins students. Students with huge potential and bright futures are falling victim to this epidemic every year. It is time we try and change that.
A change this drastic can only be called a revolution; a revolution of our perceptions of school. In order for this to happen it has to start from the top,
the seniors, and more specifically, myself. I plan to take the first step in this revolution, hopefully inspiring those younger than me to follow. Starting
my legacy, I plan to come to school early and with a positive attitude every day. This idea will undoubtedly annoy some of the other students at first.
However, after some time, hopefully they will see more as a normal occurrence, thus laying the foundation for a more upbeat student body. If other
students start see this type of behavior as normal in me, then another person acting in the exact same way will not come as a huge surprise to them.
After they are...show more content...
Work can no longer be seen as tedious, time consuming, and worthless. Instead, I will try to approach school work with fervor, in an attempt to
make it exciting and, dare I say it, fun. With this attitude and a relentless effort I will not only make school work less of a hassle but I could
potentially do it much faster as well. If I am able to do the work more efficiently, other students will want to do the same and as a result, they will
attempt my methodology. Even if only one student decides to experiment with my methods I have succeeded. This is because, somehow, someway I
have impacted another student to the point that they have decided to change their ways and have a better attitude towards learning. That person will
then carry on my "legacy", hopefully passing it on to other in an effort to help them as

Theatre Performance Critique The World of the Play: "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" is the musical work of Stephen Sondheim.
The musical was originally released in 1962 in the form of a film. However, in the case of theatre performance, it was performed in recently in the
Music Theatre International. However, the play talks about the world during which slavery used to take place in the world. The play set during the
period of the ancient Rome when slavery was a common thing. The content of the play is inspired by the musical is inspired by the work of Plautus,
mainly Miles Gloriosus and Pseudolus. On February the twentieth, I decided to witness the event of the play "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to
the Forum", which was held in California State University–Los Angeles. The play has a number of major characters. The first one is Pseudolus, who is
a slave in Rome and is trying throughout the play to win his freedom. The second one is Hero and is the son of the old man Senex. Hysterium is the
other character and acts as the Senex...show more content...
The director sets up scenery that resonates well with the context of the play. The lighting also fits with the play as it brings out the themes clearly.
Also, the costumes used, helps to reflect the time during which the play was developed, thus bringing the information about the historical context of
the play. Reviewer: The play has a positive impact on me. It helped me understand the meaning of life, especially the importance of love and freedom.
What I like most about the play is the outstanding performance of the characters. Nonetheless, I did not like the lighting of the play in some parts as it
made it difficult to follow some scenes. I can recommend the play to students of literature, art/drama or history as it has helpful information that can
improve their skills and knowledge in their areas of

Being Funny Research Paper
I don't like saying anything about myself. Sometimes I can be funny, sometimes I don't feel like being funny. I don't really like people but i don't
hate people. I like my friends but then there is always people who won't just leave you alone or just like to cause drama but you can't let it get to
you and have good friends to back you up. I have a many hobbies I like to play tennis and i play a few other sports. I am involved in many other
things such as FFA, Boy scouts, robotics and soon 4H. My parent had given very similar responses. My parents had the same opinion on most of the
questions. Both of my parents replied to question number one saying I am a perfectionist. When my parents were asked what their experience was like

It 's Kind Of A Funny Story By Ned Vizzini
It's Kind of a Funny Story – Blog 0.5 It is currently 2:23 p.m. four hours before the birthday party was supposed to begin. I march back and forth
between isles of the Indigo teen section, briefly scanning each of the shelves before moving on to the next. I'm looking for the perfect book to gift
to my friend and it's exhausting. After looking through multiple dystopian fantasies and lite reads about star crossed lovers with chronic diseases, a
pastel yellow book caught my eye. It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. The name was familiar, it was a movie with Zach Galifianakis and an
actress that used to be relevant in 2005. I never saw it, however I was sure I saw a gif on Tumblr about it. I ended up buying the book and making a

He stops eating and sleeping until one night he falls into a suicidal episode. I have decent expectations for this book, yet I cannot help but feel like this
might be another romanticized novel about depression and that Craig will just be another idealized character. Nonetheless, I am excited to finally have
the chance to read the novel and share the experience with you.
It's Kind of a Funny Story – Blog 1 Everyday Craig Gilner studied laboriously to get into the high school of his dreams. When he finally does get into
Manhattan's Executive Pre–Professional High School the pressure becomes unbearable. He feels inadequate to his overachieving peers, academically
and socially. The stress then evolves into an eating disorder, poor sleep habits, drug use, depression and suicidal thoughts. Craig then begins to see a
psychiatrist who prescribes him Zoloft. For a brief period, his thoughts shift back to the way they were before. Thinking that he no longer needed to be
on Zoloft, he threw them away. His suicidal thoughts build up until he loses it. He calls 1–800–SUICIDE who refer him to a psychiatric hospital. My
favourite part so far, about the novel is Craig. He's raw and authentic, Vizzini does not romanticize Craig's depression as something that makes you
seem cool. Nor does he write Craig to be an adult's idea of a teenager. Craig and his friends are what makes the novel relatable. There are so many
times that me and many other

School comes with seeing all of your friends and having fun at brunch and lunch. It comes with after school sports and fun new electives. However,
school comes with homework that takes up all the rest of your day and test that you have to study for. It assigns long–term projects that stress you out
and long boring essays that are due at the end of the week. Worst of all, it comes with the alarm clock ringing at 6:30 in the morning, waking you up
after the summer when you get to sleep in all you want. As you can see, school has nice and annoying characteristics that come about with it.
If I was described by five adjectives they would be smart, funny, friendly, athletic, and random. I would be called smart because I am good at most
subjects at school. I am also funny because I always know how to make people laugh and I always tell jokes. Additionally, I am friendly because I
like making new friends and staying in touch with older friends. My friends would call me athletic because whenever anybody is playing a sport I
always ask if I can join in. Finally, I am random because at some points I am calm and in the other super hyper and

The 's Not Funny By Caitlin Flanagan
People often think that comedians have a straight forward job: they practically just have to joke about a topic and make people laugh. But not many
realize the brutality comedians have to face when they are "forced" to change their acts according to the setting and diverse range of their audience. In
the article "That's Not Funny", the author Caitlin Flanagan, explains on how comedians face an uphill talk when they perform in colleges and how
they have to change their scripts to make sure they don't offend students on the basis of gender, religion etc. Colleges are paying comedians big money
and that's the main reason comedians still perform even when they can't express themselves freely through comedy. In this essay, I will explore how
Caitlin argues about the unjust conditions interested comedians face who want to perform in college campuses. Caitlin builds the credibility of her
work by stating strong and valid points, different types of arguments and rhetoric situations. Caitlin starts talking about the college campus comedy
and what comedians need to have in them to perform at college shows. She also describes on what a budding comedian has to go through at the
National Convention for Campus Activities (NACA) where agents from over 300 colleges attend and what adjustments the comedian has to make to
get paid a thousand dollars a show. Caitlin emphasizes on how some college students tend to react when comedians joke about rape and sexism. She
also describes about other

Personal Narrative Essay : A Funny Day At School
I remember one incredibly funny day from last year. It was the day I fell through the glass display case at school. Boy, I tell you that sucked so
bad. I know for a fact I'll never live it down. I'm known for being pretty accident prone so it was no surprise to people when they found out I was
the one who had left the blood stain in the hallway. I was walking back from lunch with my friend Matt, we were telling each other jokes about
dead babies. I looked over and saw my little brother, I turned to Matt and said "watch this" then I ran up to my brother and tried to do a jumping
high five. He didn't think I was trying to high five him he thought I was trying to hit him. Out of instinct he pushed me away and I fell backwards,
I landed and pivoted on the ball of my left foot. I thought I had gotten away safe and clear, I went to take a step and BAM! I had been tripped by
my own untied shoelace, betrayed by my own apparel. I fell backwards and expected to hit lockers, unfortunately it wasn't lockers or even a door. I
had crashed into the glass display case, oh the utter humility. I hit the ground and leaned up on one arm, I was fine, not a scratch. Mrs. Wright

A Joke That Is Not So Funny
"Man has been endowed with reason, with the power to create, so that he can add
to what he's been given. But up to now he hasn't been a creator, only a destroyer. Forests
keep disappearing, rivers dry up, wild life's become extinct, the climate's ruined and the
land grows poorer and uglier every day" (Russell). From this quote from Anton
Chekhov, one can tell he viewed life in a very different way. Chekhov enjoyed writing
stories about reality. He often wrote about tragic, true stories that happened in his own
life. Chekhov liked to write stories that were very sad and depressing but he just wanted
to write about how he viewed life. The story, "AJoke," can...show more content...
As he wrote so much in this newspaper
he found his style of writing to be detached and liberal (Steinberg 767).
As Chekhov grew more and more popular he made many accomplishments. The
Pushkin Prize and getting nominated one of the Society of Lovers of Russian
Literature were a couple of his achievements. Chekhov moved to Melikhove when he
made writing his full time job. Neighbors, Ward Number Six, The Black Monk, The
Murder, and Ariadne were some of his best stories. His first play was called "The
Seagull," and it was very successful. Since that play went so well, he wrote a few more
including "Uncle Vanya," "The Three Sisters," and "The Cherry Orchard" (Murphy 192).
In 1904, Chekhov married Olga Knipper who acted in many of the plays he wrote.
Their marriage did not last long because Chekhov had to go into exile in the conclusion
of his life because he got a lung hemorrhage. He still tried to make the productions of his
plays but many times he had to stay in Crimea to get help with his health. A few years
later he died of tuberculosis on July 14, 1904, when he was forty–four. Chekhov quoted,
"All I wanted was to say honestly to people: 'Have a look at yourselves and see how bad
and dreary your lives are!' The important thing is that people should realize that, for when
they do, they will most certainly create another and better life for themselves."

College Admissions Essay: Why I Am Funny?
I am funny, I have been told I was funny when I was trying, and not trying. I am funny and know what to say. I can usually come up with jokes on
the spot, but sometimes I will need to get inspiration from TV shows or websites. When my friends are down and sad, I will try to cheer them up
with jokes, sometimes it won't work, but at least I try. Joking with friends is funny because they can come up with funny things and give me
inspiration. Being funny is something that takes years to learn and master, or you are born with it. I was born with the gift of being funny, when
some people try to be funny, they can come off mean or not be funny at all. I have a good since of humor, I will laugh at most things even if there is
only just a slight hint of comedy in there. If the people I am talking to don't want to laugh, I will still try my hardest to make them smile.
This leads into my second point, I am someone who tries, I try even if I know I will fail. I will try in sports, school and in life in general. When I

Innocent Fun Research Paper
Innocent fun or Dangerous Possibilities Do you remember the first time you had a drink? When you sneaked behind your parents back to feel the
rush of trying something that's not allowed. Knowing that you are doing something wrong and could become caught makes everything more
interesting. We have all been there, knowing you're doing something wrong, but that's what gets you even more tempted. When I was in ninth
grade I was tempted to try alcohol. The problem was I did not know how to get it. This made me even more tempted to get it. How could everyone
else in my class be able to get it when I could not? In the middle of ninth grade, three new students started in my parallel class. Rumors around the
school started spreading as always when there are new students. In this case the rumors were saying they drank alcohol and smoked. A couple of
weeks later one of my best friends started dating one of the new students. All of us saw a way into the grown up world. Finally, for the first time, try
the magic drink that all of our parents told us not to drink, that magic drink which makes everything a little bit more fun. We saw a way into...show

This is where the temptation comes in. As Publius Cornelius Tacitus, a Roman historian, once said "things forbidden have a secret charm". Things
forbidden such as drinking alcohol before you turn 18 is made to be broken. Things forbidden is made to teach us what is right and what is wrong.
We learn from our mistakes. We learn from what we have done right. We learn something new every day. In my case I have learned a lot from
alcohol since I took my first sip of beer. I have learned that vodka is not the answer to a great night, it is the answer to a great hangover. I have
learned that I do not get what I want if I hit my brother. It will probably get worse than it was before. I have learned to have innocent

Being A Mom Is So Funny
Being a mom is so funny. It's funny and ironic. Its lots of things, but in my most humble opinion (thus far), funny and ironic are the most accurate
adjectives for motherhood. I always saw my mother, and lots of other women, doing the most awkward things in public. I don't know, I may be
slightly exaggerating but I vowed to myself at a very young age to never be THAT lady. You know what I'm talking about– the lady that is not put
together in any way, shape or form. The one with a baby on both hips, awful hair, and is in dire need of a nap. Yes I said it. You need a NAP, lady!
She's the lady that got 4 extra shots of espresso in her coffee this morning. She has 2 pacifiers, a bottle and a baby sock in her purse. She's a
mommy, and she had no idea that this was just a small fraction of motherhood. She may look a hot mess. Hey, quite frankly, she may BE a hot mess.
She is a mommy though, and chances are, she's kicking some serious booty at it. Here are 20 things you wouldn't understand unless you are in fact,
THAT lady. A mommy. 1. Going out in public without a bra is not for attention or to look hot. It is solely because you either A. Forgot (totes normal
–
motherhood is a busy, busy thing!) or B. Don't have any clean. Also normal. 2. Your $300 purse may be the cutest, most expensive thing you own,
but it will NEVER compare to the diaper bag. Ever. 3. Speaking of purses, if you find a dirty diaper, bib, bottle or pacifier in there from time to

College cannot be all Fun and Games
People betray college as being party central, the place to have fun and get loose, but this is not the case for every college student. Many students
have a life that consists of mostly work and school with very little time to party. College students may get jobs in order to support themselves or to
help pay for college. According to CBS News 71 percent of the nation's 19.7 million college undergraduates were working in 2011. Students with no
jobs live different from students with jobs. Going to school can affect ones performance at work, and having a job can affect ones performance at
school. It may also affect ones social life. Being a college student is a job within itself, going to all your classes, writing essay after essay, and
studying for test and quizzes. Being in college would make a person not want to go to the job they are getting paid to do. After school students are
usually ready to kick back and relax, but sometimes a person has to go to work instead. Going to a job after another "job" can be very tiring and can
have a negative effect on ones' performance. It can cause a person to be grumpy, fatigue, lazy, and cause them not to work up to their full potential.
While in school one has to study, an individual could stay up all night studying and be too tired to perform their duties properly at the work place. It
can cause a person to be slower than normal due to the lack of rest and amount of responsibility placed on them. Unfortunately, being a student not

Definition Of Funny Essay
In the quote from Mark Twain, "Show me a man who knows what's funny, and I'll show you a man who knows what's not", there is one word in
particular that I would like to focus on. Funny. We all know what funny means, something that causes you to laugh, something that's humorous. But,
what exactly falls under that definition? That's something you can't specifically decide. With so many factors going into it, including an individual's
personality, the area, the time, and more, finding something that everyone believes to be funny would be hard.
For me specifically, the word funny brings to mind jokes I've heard or read in my mind. More specifically, I picture chickens crossing roads, cows
interrupting conversations, and a variety of different people and items knocking on doors. However, you may associate very different ideas with the
word. My father and sister both find it extremely hilarious to watch other people undergo harm, while one of my best friends finds humor in making
statements that have no blatantly obvious connection with the current conversation and often don't make grammatical sense. Everyone has their own
sense of humor just as everyone has their own favorite colors, whilst some may be the same,...show more content...
So, how did these social groups come to exist between people that conflict in such a major area of their lives? When confronted with divergent
opinions or ideas we either diminish and dismiss them or we adapt and accept them, although the latter occurs more frequently. Simply put, humans
are extremely flexible in their behavior and quickly conform to what is prevalent around them. This is seen in every aspect of our lives, from clothing
trends to language norms and even in popular methods of amusement. So, as seen in any social construct, when we are in different situations we adjust
to fit in. This makes it possible to for us to form bonds with those around us while retaining a personal sense of

University life can be a great experience. It can be fun and educational and, on the other hand, full of hardships. First–year students at university face a
lot of challenges. These challenges can be divided into groups of which three are making adjustments, security and being lost.
First–year students have to make a lot of adjustments. Students face difficulty in adjusting to a completely new lifestyle. University life is totally
different from living at home and going to high school. For example, many students are living alone and adjusting to being alone is difficult.
Furthermore, students get a lot of freedom since they are renting or living alone. They have to adjust otherwise they will find themselves moving adrift

Many students live away from their homes and parents and therefore, lack social security. Many students are renting with other students and since they
are first–year students, they find it hard since they are not used to this form of lifestyle. Moreover, without any parent or any other r elder to guide them,
first–years drift away from their path into doing wrong things. Other students who live in hostels have some level of control instilled by the hostel but
it is not equal to the guidance which a parent could provide. Thus, living away from parents is a major hindrance and challenge for first–year students.
Financial security is another challenge for first–year students. Money is most vital when pursuing higher education and lack of it can cause the
collapse of one's future. Money is needed to buy textbooks and pay fees, which is very costly. First–year students at university tend to spend a lot of
money when they first come to university since they do not understand the importance of money and they are not able to control their expenditure.
Situations are improved when the student has been awarded a scholarship, since they might not have any source of income. Therefore, finance is
another problem faced by first–year students. Being in a new environment, first–year students find themselves lost for a couple of days. Students face
difficulty in finding their required rooms. Universities have a lot of lecture theatres and

Essay on Learning Can Be Fun
I hear I forget, I see I remember, I do I understand." These wise words said by Confucius himself may be one of the most fundamental tenants to
education and learning there is. The concept that Confucius lays out in this quote is that students learn best by taking an active role in their learning.
There is no point in telling students information they need to know, as it is usually just forgotten. At the same time, just visualizing a situation is not
enough for some students; it is vital that hands on and interactive experience is incorporated into learning. The idea of "interactive learning" is
commonly misinterpreted and undervalued, as it should be incorporated significantly into the day–to–day classroom activities of children of all...show

This misunderstanding is most likely due to misconceptions of the word "interactive". For the purposes of this paper, interactive refers to an
environment in which students feel safe to move about and take an active role in their learning. In fact, studies have shown that "the use of hand
gestures seems to make it easier for children to link their developing mental representations to aspects of the environment, and to facilitate new insights
during problem solving" (McLaren et al.).
In order to test this theory, a class of 20 kindergarteners were observed in numerous different environments, some being classified as "interactive",
while some were classified as "standard", or "normal classroom setting". For the interactive environment, students were pulled in groups of five to a
table, where they played a spelling game with each other, with the goal of learning and retaining all of the words that were used. As a control, the
students were tested before the game was started, so that the academic progress could be adequately measured. For the "normal classroom setting", all
20 kindergarteners were to sit on the floor as the teacher stood in front of them and taught them to spell the given words. After each environment was
tested, a spelling quiz was given out to the students, to gauge how much of what was taught was retained. The results were astounding. There was a

A Funny Thing Happened Me
A funny thing happened to me when I was talked into my first guys' night out. I knew they were doing this out of pity because I know I'm a bit on
the nerdy side. This wasn't' the first time I've been asked, but something in me decided to do it. I've been going to work and home for nearly a

Caitlin Flanagan That's Not Funny Summary
In Caitlin Flanagan's 2015 The Atlantic article "That's Not Funny," the author illustrates the phenomenon in which today's college students are the
consumers who are preselecting risk–free entertainment to shelter their hypersensitivity and which Flanagan believes is in a way detrimental to their
future in the real world. The author is describing conversations and events that occurred at the annual convention of the National Association for

she highlights how comedians are concerned with "creating the cleanest possible set" to be able to earn money. More than three hundred and fifty

Operation Fun Research Paper

  • 1. Operation Fun Research Paper Operation Fun High school, for many students, is prison. A prison that holds us for seven hours every day, five days a week. This type of attitude is what ruins students. Students with huge potential and bright futures are falling victim to this epidemic every year. It is time we try and change that. A change this drastic can only be called a revolution; a revolution of our perceptions of school. In order for this to happen it has to start from the top, the seniors, and more specifically, myself. I plan to take the first step in this revolution, hopefully inspiring those younger than me to follow. Starting my legacy, I plan to come to school early and with a positive attitude every day. This idea will undoubtedly annoy some of the other students at first. However, after some time, hopefully they will see more as a normal occurrence, thus laying the foundation for a more upbeat student body. If other students start see this type of behavior as normal in me, then another person acting in the exact same way will not come as a huge surprise to them. After they are...show more content... Work can no longer be seen as tedious, time consuming, and worthless. Instead, I will try to approach school work with fervor, in an attempt to make it exciting and, dare I say it, fun. With this attitude and a relentless effort I will not only make school work less of a hassle but I could potentially do it much faster as well. If I am able to do the work more efficiently, other students will want to do the same and as a result, they will attempt my methodology. Even if only one student decides to experiment with my methods I have succeeded. This is because, somehow, someway I have impacted another student to the point that they have decided to change their ways and have a better attitude towards learning. That person will then carry on my "legacy", hopefully passing it on to other in an effort to help them as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Theatre Performance Critique The World of the Play: "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" is the musical work of Stephen Sondheim. The musical was originally released in 1962 in the form of a film. However, in the case of theatre performance, it was performed in recently in the Music Theatre International. However, the play talks about the world during which slavery used to take place in the world. The play set during the period of the ancient Rome when slavery was a common thing. The content of the play is inspired by the musical is inspired by the work of Plautus, mainly Miles Gloriosus and Pseudolus. On February the twentieth, I decided to witness the event of the play "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", which was held in California State University–Los Angeles. The play has a number of major characters. The first one is Pseudolus, who is a slave in Rome and is trying throughout the play to win his freedom. The second one is Hero and is the son of the old man Senex. Hysterium is the other character and acts as the Senex...show more content... The director sets up scenery that resonates well with the context of the play. The lighting also fits with the play as it brings out the themes clearly. Also, the costumes used, helps to reflect the time during which the play was developed, thus bringing the information about the historical context of the play. Reviewer: The play has a positive impact on me. It helped me understand the meaning of life, especially the importance of love and freedom. What I like most about the play is the outstanding performance of the characters. Nonetheless, I did not like the lighting of the play in some parts as it made it difficult to follow some scenes. I can recommend the play to students of literature, art/drama or history as it has helpful information that can improve their skills and knowledge in their areas of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I like my friends but then there is always people who won't just leave you alone or just like to cause drama but you can't let it get to you and have good friends to back you up. I have a many hobbies I like to play tennis and i play a few other sports. I am involved in many other things such as FFA, Boy scouts, robotics and soon 4H. My parent had given very similar responses. My parents had the same opinion on most of the questions. Both of my parents replied to question number one saying I am a perfectionist. • 4. It 's Kind Of A Funny Story By Ned Vizzini It's Kind of a Funny Story – Blog 0.5 It is currently 2:23 p.m. four hours before the birthday party was supposed to begin. I march back and forth between isles of the Indigo teen section, briefly scanning each of the shelves before moving on to the next. I'm looking for the perfect book to gift to my friend and it's exhausting. After looking through multiple dystopian fantasies and lite reads about star crossed lovers with chronic diseases, a pastel yellow book caught my eye. It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. The name was familiar, it was a movie with Zach Galifianakis and an actress that used to be relevant in 2005. I never saw it, however I was sure I saw a gif on Tumblr about it. I ended up buying the book and making a mental...show more content... He stops eating and sleeping until one night he falls into a suicidal episode. I have decent expectations for this book, yet I cannot help but feel like this might be another romanticized novel about depression and that Craig will just be another idealized character. Nonetheless, I am excited to finally have the chance to read the novel and share the experience with you. It's Kind of a Funny Story – Blog 1 Everyday Craig Gilner studied laboriously to get into the high school of his dreams. When he finally does get into Manhattan's Executive Pre–Professional High School the pressure becomes unbearable. He feels inadequate to his overachieving peers, academically and socially. The stress then evolves into an eating disorder, poor sleep habits, drug use, depression and suicidal thoughts. Craig then begins to see a psychiatrist who prescribes him Zoloft. For a brief period, his thoughts shift back to the way they were before. Thinking that he no longer needed to be on Zoloft, he threw them away. His suicidal thoughts build up until he loses it. He calls 1–800–SUICIDE who refer him to a psychiatric hospital. My favourite part so far, about the novel is Craig. He's raw and authentic, Vizzini does not romanticize Craig's depression as something that makes you seem cool. Nor does he write Craig to be an adult's idea of a teenager. Craig and his friends are what makes the novel relatable. There are so many times that me and many other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. A Fun Experience Analysis I was born at 8:47 pm, November 22, 2003 at Overlake Hospital in Seattle, Washington. My dad was studying at the University of Washington for a masters degree in business and my mom was working at Microsoft. We lived in Bellevue, Washington near Lake Sammamish. My sister Libby was born in 2007 in Seattle. In February 2009, we moved to San Jose, California. I started school at Dilworth Elementary in August 2009. My brother Adam was born in the spring of 2011. During third grade, I moved to Los Altos and went to Montclaire Elementary. In the middle of fifth grade, My family and I moved to Israel for four months. It was a fun experience and I really enjoyed it. I have many hobbies and things that I am interested in. However, school comes with homework that takes up all the rest of your day and test that you have to study for. It assigns long–term projects that stress you out and long boring essays that are due at the end of the week. Worst of all, it comes with the alarm clock ringing at 6:30 in the morning, waking you up after the summer when you get to sleep in all you want. As you can see, school has nice and annoying characteristics that come about with it. If I was described by five adjectives they would be smart, funny, friendly, athletic, and random. I would be called smart because I am good at most subjects at school. I am also funny because I always know how to make people laugh and I always tell jokes. Additionally, I am friendly because I like making new friends and staying in touch with older friends. My friends would call me athletic because whenever anybody is playing a sport I always ask if I can join in. Finally, I am random because at some points I am calm and in the other super hyper and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The 's Not Funny By Caitlin Flanagan People often think that comedians have a straight forward job: they practically just have to joke about a topic and make people laugh. But not many realize the brutality comedians have to face when they are "forced" to change their acts according to the setting and diverse range of their audience. In the article "That's Not Funny", the author Caitlin Flanagan, explains on how comedians face an uphill talk when they perform in colleges and how they have to change their scripts to make sure they don't offend students on the basis of gender, religion etc. Colleges are paying comedians big money and that's the main reason comedians still perform even when they can't express themselves freely through comedy. In this essay, I will explore how Caitlin argues about the unjust conditions interested comedians face who want to perform in college campuses. Caitlin builds the credibility of her work by stating strong and valid points, different types of arguments and rhetoric situations. Caitlin starts talking about the college campus comedy and what comedians need to have in them to perform at college shows. She also describes on what a budding comedian has to go through at the National Convention for Campus Activities (NACA) where agents from over 300 colleges attend and what adjustments the comedian has to make to get paid a thousand dollars a show. Caitlin emphasizes on how some college students tend to react when comedians joke about rape and sexism. She also describes about other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Personal Narrative Essay : A Funny Day At School I remember one incredibly funny day from last year. It was the day I fell through the glass display case at school. Boy, I tell you that sucked so bad. I know for a fact I'll never live it down. I'm known for being pretty accident prone so it was no surprise to people when they found out I was the one who had left the blood stain in the hallway. I was walking back from lunch with my friend Matt, we were telling each other jokes about dead babies. I looked over and saw my little brother, I turned to Matt and said "watch this" then I ran up to my brother and tried to do a jumping high five. He didn't think I was trying to high five him he thought I was trying to hit him. Out of instinct he pushed me away and I fell backwards, I landed and pivoted on the ball of my left foot. I thought I had gotten away safe and clear, I went to take a step and BAM! I had been tripped by my own untied shoelace, betrayed by my own apparel. I fell backwards and expected to hit lockers, unfortunately it wasn't lockers or even a door. I had crashed into the glass display case, oh the utter humility. I hit the ground and leaned up on one arm, I was fine, not a scratch. Mrs. Wright come running up in total mom mode " Oh my God, are you alright, AHH, don't move!". " No it's okay I can get up, they are pretty big pieces, I can crawl around them". " No sweety don't get up". I looked at her and asked " Mrs. Wright is there a piece in me?". She gulped and said "Yes". Total internal breakdown but I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. A Joke that is not so funny Essay A Joke That Is Not So Funny "Man has been endowed with reason, with the power to create, so that he can add to what he's been given. But up to now he hasn't been a creator, only a destroyer. Forests keep disappearing, rivers dry up, wild life's become extinct, the climate's ruined and the land grows poorer and uglier every day" (Russell). From this quote from Anton Chekhov, one can tell he viewed life in a very different way. Chekhov enjoyed writing stories about reality. He often wrote about tragic, true stories that happened in his own life. Chekhov liked to write stories that were very sad and depressing but he just wanted to write about how he viewed life. His first play was called "The Seagull," and it was very successful. Since that play went so well, he wrote a few more including "Uncle Vanya," "The Three Sisters," and "The Cherry Orchard" (Murphy 192). In 1904, Chekhov married Olga Knipper who acted in many of the plays he wrote. Their marriage did not last long because Chekhov had to go into exile in the conclusion of his life because he got a lung hemorrhage. He still tried to make the productions of his plays but many times he had to stay in Crimea to get help with his health. A few years later he died of tuberculosis on July 14, 1904, when he was forty–four. Chekhov quoted, "All I wanted was to say honestly to people: 'Have a look at yourselves and see how bad and dreary your lives are!' The important thing is that people should realize that, for when they do, they will most certainly create another and better life for themselves." Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I can usually come up with jokes on the spot, but sometimes I will need to get inspiration from TV shows or websites. When my friends are down and sad, I will try to cheer them up with jokes, sometimes it won't work, but at least I try. Joking with friends is funny because they can come up with funny things and give me inspiration. Being funny is something that takes years to learn and master, or you are born with it. I was born with the gift of being funny, when some people try to be funny, they can come off mean or not be funny at all. I have a good since of humor, I will laugh at most things even if there is only just a slight hint of comedy in there. • 11. Innocent Fun Research Paper Innocent fun or Dangerous Possibilities Do you remember the first time you had a drink? When you sneaked behind your parents back to feel the rush of trying something that's not allowed. Knowing that you are doing something wrong and could become caught makes everything more interesting. We have all been there, knowing you're doing something wrong, but that's what gets you even more tempted. When I was in ninth grade I was tempted to try alcohol. The problem was I did not know how to get it. This made me even more tempted to get it. How could everyone else in my class be able to get it when I could not? In the middle of ninth grade, three new students started in my parallel class. Rumors around the school started spreading as always when there are new students. In this case the rumors were saying they drank alcohol and smoked. A couple of weeks later one of my best friends started dating one of the new students. All of us saw a way into the grown up world. Finally, for the first time, try the magic drink that all of our parents told us not to drink, that magic drink which makes everything a little bit more fun. We saw a way into...show more content... This is where the temptation comes in. As Publius Cornelius Tacitus, a Roman historian, once said "things forbidden have a secret charm". Things forbidden such as drinking alcohol before you turn 18 is made to be broken. Things forbidden is made to teach us what is right and what is wrong. We learn from our mistakes. We learn from what we have done right. We learn something new every day. In my case I have learned a lot from alcohol since I took my first sip of beer. I have learned that vodka is not the answer to a great night, it is the answer to a great hangover. I have learned that I do not get what I want if I hit my brother. It will probably get worse than it was before. I have learned to have innocent Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Being A Mom Is So Funny Being a mom is so funny. It's funny and ironic. Its lots of things, but in my most humble opinion (thus far), funny and ironic are the most accurate adjectives for motherhood. I always saw my mother, and lots of other women, doing the most awkward things in public. I don't know, I may be slightly exaggerating but I vowed to myself at a very young age to never be THAT lady. You know what I'm talking about– the lady that is not put together in any way, shape or form. The one with a baby on both hips, awful hair, and is in dire need of a nap. Yes I said it. You need a NAP, lady! She's the lady that got 4 extra shots of espresso in her coffee this morning. She has 2 pacifiers, a bottle and a baby sock in her purse. She's a mommy, and she had no idea that this was just a small fraction of motherhood. She may look a hot mess. Hey, quite frankly, she may BE a hot mess. She is a mommy though, and chances are, she's kicking some serious booty at it. Here are 20 things you wouldn't understand unless you are in fact, THAT lady. A mommy. 1. Going out in public without a bra is not for attention or to look hot. It is solely because you either A. Forgot (totes normal – motherhood is a busy, busy thing!) or B. Don't have any clean. Also normal. 2. Your $300 purse may be the cutest, most expensive thing you own, but it will NEVER compare to the diaper bag. Ever. 3. Speaking of purses, if you find a dirty diaper, bib, bottle or pacifier in there from time to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. College cannot be all Fun and Games People betray college as being party central, the place to have fun and get loose, but this is not the case for every college student. Many students have a life that consists of mostly work and school with very little time to party. College students may get jobs in order to support themselves or to help pay for college. According to CBS News 71 percent of the nation's 19.7 million college undergraduates were working in 2011. Students with no jobs live different from students with jobs. Going to school can affect ones performance at work, and having a job can affect ones performance at school. It may also affect ones social life. Being a college student is a job within itself, going to all your classes, writing essay after essay, and studying for test and quizzes. Being in college would make a person not want to go to the job they are getting paid to do. After school students are usually ready to kick back and relax, but sometimes a person has to go to work instead. Going to a job after another "job" can be very tiring and can have a negative effect on ones' performance. It can cause a person to be grumpy, fatigue, lazy, and cause them not to work up to their full potential. While in school one has to study, an individual could stay up all night studying and be too tired to perform their duties properly at the work place. It can cause a person to be slower than normal due to the lack of rest and amount of responsibility placed on them. Unfortunately, being a student not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Definition Of Funny Essay In the quote from Mark Twain, "Show me a man who knows what's funny, and I'll show you a man who knows what's not", there is one word in particular that I would like to focus on. Funny. We all know what funny means, something that causes you to laugh, something that's humorous. But, what exactly falls under that definition? That's something you can't specifically decide. With so many factors going into it, including an individual's personality, the area, the time, and more, finding something that everyone believes to be funny would be hard. For me specifically, the word funny brings to mind jokes I've heard or read in my mind. More specifically, I picture chickens crossing roads, cows interrupting conversations, and a variety of different people and items knocking on doors. However, you may associate very different ideas with the word. My father and sister both find it extremely hilarious to watch other people undergo harm, while one of my best friends finds humor in making statements that have no blatantly obvious connection with the current conversation and often don't make grammatical sense. Everyone has their own sense of humor just as everyone has their own favorite colors, whilst some may be the same,...show more content... So, how did these social groups come to exist between people that conflict in such a major area of their lives? When confronted with divergent opinions or ideas we either diminish and dismiss them or we adapt and accept them, although the latter occurs more frequently. Simply put, humans are extremely flexible in their behavior and quickly conform to what is prevalent around them. This is seen in every aspect of our lives, from clothing trends to language norms and even in popular methods of amusement. So, as seen in any social construct, when we are in different situations we adjust to fit in. This makes it possible to for us to form bonds with those around us while retaining a personal sense of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

These challenges can be divided into groups of which three are making adjustments, security and being lost. First–year students have to make a lot of adjustments. Students face difficulty in adjusting to a completely new lifestyle. University life is totally different from living at home and going to high school. Many students are renting with other students and since they are first–year students, they find it hard since they are not used to this form of lifestyle. Moreover, without any parent or any other r elder to guide them, first–years drift away from their path into doing wrong things. Other students who live in hostels have some level of control instilled by the hostel but it is not equal to the guidance which a parent could provide. Thus, living away from parents is a major hindrance and challenge for first–year students. Financial security is another challenge for first–year students. Money is most vital when pursuing higher education and lack of it can cause the collapse of one's future. Money is needed to buy textbooks and pay fees, which is very costly. First–year students at university tend to spend a lot of money when they first come to university since they do not understand the importance of money and they are not able to control their expenditure. Situations are improved when the student has been awarded a scholarship, since they might not have any source of income. Therefore, finance is another problem faced by first–year students. Being in a new environment, first–year students find themselves lost for a couple of days. Students face difficulty in finding their required rooms. Pushing Paper Can Be Fun Note: Solve any 4 Cases CASE: I Pushing Paper Can Be Fun A large city government was putting on a number of seminars for managers of various departments throughout the city. At one of these sessions the topic discussed was motivation–how to motivate public servants to do a good job. The plight of a police captain became the central focus of the discussion: I've got a real problem with my officers. They come on the force as young, inexperienced rookies, and we send them out on the street, either in cars or on a beat. There John got a job with a new software company while Karen worked evenings as a nurse. Although they didn't see much of each other during the week, weekends were a special time, and the surrounding mountains and nature provided a superb quality of life. Life was good to the Breckenridges. Two years after they were married, Karen gave birth to Josh and two years later to Linda. Karen reduced her nursing to the minimum hours required to maintain her license, and concentrated on rearing the kids. John, on the other hand, was busy providing for the lifestyle they increasingly became used to, which included a house, car, SUV, ski trips, and all of the things a successful engineering career could bring. The company grew in leaps and bounds, and John was one of the main reasons it grew fast. Work was fun. The company was growing, his responsibilities increased, and he and his team were real buddies. With Karen's help at home, he juggled work, travel, and evening classes that led to a master's degree. The master's degree brought another promotion–this time to vice president of technology at the young (for this company) age of 39. The promotion had one drawback: It would require working out of the New York office. Karen sadly said goodbye to her friends, convinced the kids Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Essay on Learning Can Be Fun I hear I forget, I see I remember, I do I understand." These wise words said by Confucius himself may be one of the most fundamental tenants to education and learning there is. The concept that Confucius lays out in this quote is that students learn best by taking an active role in their learning. There is no point in telling students information they need to know, as it is usually just forgotten. At the same time, just visualizing a situation is not enough for some students; it is vital that hands on and interactive experience is incorporated into learning. The idea of "interactive learning" is commonly misinterpreted and undervalued, as it should be incorporated significantly into the day–to–day classroom activities of children of all...show more content... This misunderstanding is most likely due to misconceptions of the word "interactive". For the purposes of this paper, interactive refers to an environment in which students feel safe to move about and take an active role in their learning. In fact, studies have shown that "the use of hand gestures seems to make it easier for children to link their developing mental representations to aspects of the environment, and to facilitate new insights during problem solving" (McLaren et al.). In order to test this theory, a class of 20 kindergarteners were observed in numerous different environments, some being classified as "interactive", while some were classified as "standard", or "normal classroom setting". For the interactive environment, students were pulled in groups of five to a table, where they played a spelling game with each other, with the goal of learning and retaining all of the words that were used. As a control, the students were tested before the game was started, so that the academic progress could be adequately measured. For the "normal classroom setting", all 20 kindergarteners were to sit on the floor as the teacher stood in front of them and taught them to spell the given words. After each environment was tested, a spelling quiz was given out to the students, to gauge how much of what was taught was retained. The results were astounding. This wasn't' the first time I've been asked, but something in me decided to do it. I've been going to work and home for nearly a year now and the only thing close to celebrating my graduation from college is what kind of dog I wanted at the local pet store. When the boys' night out schedule was mentioned, I decided what the heck, let use this to celebrate my graduation. No one else would ever think to recognize my achievement, not even my father. Here I was a highly recruited, full scholarship Chemistry and Mathematics Prodigy, and my younger brother could barely make it through a comic book, but had made it into the state's university. Believe it or not, he had received a full ride as well. If you remembered the little hint about the comic book then it would be obvious how this miraculous achievement was accomplished. The author is describing conversations and events that occurred at the annual convention of the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) that took place in Minneapolis.
