Narrative Essay About Christmas
"Addie wake up!" my little brother Ben beamed as he shakes me awake. "It's Christmas!" he said excited. I rolled over and laughed tiredly then
we went to wake up Anna, our older sister. She barely opened her eyes to see the clock, 6:43 a.m. glowed bright red in the dark.
"It is too early, we need to wait for Mom and Dad" she said. So we squeezed into her bed and waited. Soon we were all sound asleep again.
As we wake up, the sun was rising and it was 8 o'clock.
"MOM, DAD, GET UP! It's eight o'clock," we said excited! When we finally were all back downstairs they said,
"Stay here until we say we're ready" pointing at the end of the hallway. They setup the video camera and Mom's camera before we could go out.
Meanwhile, we carried on a conversation, remembering that today is Jesus' birthday and how special it is! Christmas is more than just gifts, food
and break from school, it is about the love and happiness we all share and most of all, rejoicing because our savior has been born!
It was time to see what Santa had brought us! We run down the hall in our new pajamas, and into the dining room. Three large sacks with our
names on them were full. He left us a note saying,
"Hope you all like your gifts! Merry Christmas! Signed Santa Clause" Some don't believe in Santa, and I don't necessarily believe that the real
human Santa exists, but the Santa we all have inside of us instead. The loving, joyful, giving, laughing, passionate and kind person that lives
within us is the

My Favorite Christmas Essay
My Favorite Christmas When I look back and think about Christmas, one specific Christmas stands out. It was the Christmas when I was 8 years
old. That was the year I discovered the true joy of Christmas. Before that Christmas, I thought Christmas was just about waking up, opening
presents and having a big family dinner. Here is the story of my 9th Christmas... To begin with, the season started out like all the others, making
a Christmas list, writing a letter to Santa, and making sure I would not be on the naughty list. First, I sat down with my paper and pencil and
began writing a detailed, specific list of all the things I wanted. The list included a new Barbie doll, art supplies, the beautiful pink sweater I
saw in a department store window, just to name a few items. Now that I had my list, I wrote my letter to Santa to make sure he knew what I
wanted. Dear Santa, it began, followed by a list of the items I wanted the most and concluding with highlights explaining how good I had
been all year and really deserve to get the items listed, just to make sure Santa knew I was on the nice list. Next, just to make sure there
wasn't any question that I belonged on the nice and not the naughty list I began doing extra chores. Mom always liked it when I helped her
set the table. Dad could always use an extra had washing the car. I even helped my little brother pick up his toys in his room, without even
being asked! Then it happened, something that changed my attitude towards Christmas. It was the last day of school before winter break.
Our last assignment of the day was simple, make a wish for the holiday season and present it to the class. My wish was simple, that Santa
brings me everything on my Christmas list. My list wish was very similar to most of my classmates. Next, it was Emma's turn. I didn't really
know Emma even though she had been in my class all year. She seemed different from my friends. Her clothes always looked old and worn.
She was quiet, not very friendly. Although she was always invited to birthday parties, she never joined in. I never really paid much attention to
her, just avoided her because she was different. As Emma shyly made her way to the front of the class I

It's Christmas Eve and I scurry about the house getting ready for the party. Sense I live by myself I had plenty of time to set up Christmas
decorations and it was that ample time that made my house a vibrantly lit and covered in lavish decorations of Santa and his minions. The
smell of ham permeated the air as I giddily pranced towards the oven putting on mittens to take out the supple honey ham. I brought my nose
up close to the ham smelling deeply before I said "Aww that golden brown meat is cooked to perfection, supple and succulent" It was at that
moment that there was a knock on the door. "Come on in," I hollered through the house," feal free to make yourselves at home." I set the ham
down on the counter as I walked out of the kitchen to go and great my guest's. As I walked out I saw Sally running towards me. "Grandpa!" she
exclaimed excitedly. I gave here an evaluating look saying, "My you've gotten big how old are you now?" She held up all the fingers in her
dainty little–left hand before saying "I'm five now." "Wow already five years old your growing up so fast, making me feal so old, " I said while
hunching my back over to look older than I already did. She looked at me confused while saying "But, you are old grandpa. Hey is there anything
that you need help with?" "No sweaty, " I stated while giving her a warm smile," Now go sit down so grandpa can go talk with your dad." She

The way that I celebrate Christmas is by getting woken up by my younger brother, Drew at five o'clock in the morning by him saying "Santa
Claus came to our house, wake up, wake up Haley!" After I get woken up I open presents at my house and then get ready to go to both of my
grandparent's houses. I go to my grandma Goins' house first and then my other grandma and grandpa Schaub's house on Christmas day later on.
The family that attends at my grandma Goins' house is my aunt Robin and uncle Mike, also my cousins, Kara, Peyton, Kyle, Sadie, and Hunter.
My sister, Jessica, and Dakota and their child Lucas also come to the Christmas gift opening party. After I go to my grandma Goins' house in the
morning I go to my grandma and grandpa Schaub's house and the people that attend there is my aunt Caroline and uncle Mark and their children
Christian, Brenden, Juliet, and Gavin. My Aunt Kelly and uncle Alex and their child Annabel also come to the party. More family members that
come to the party is my Aunt Tia and Uncle Sam, and their children Abby, Mia, and Raygan. The last family members that come to my grandma
and grandpa Schaub's Christmas dinner is my aunt Candy and uncle Germaine and their daughter Daesha.
On Christmas day my meal consists all sorts of delicious food. My grandma Schaub makes the ham, mashed potatoes, and gravy. My aunt Candy
makes cheesy potatoes and cornbread casserole. A favorite of mine is green bean casserole and my aunt Tia maks it. Lastly, my aunt

Essay about Christmas Season
During the holiday season, it is easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas. As clichГ© as this may sound I find it to be very truthful. There
seems to be a lot of pressure put on regular everyday average Americans, to celebrate, share the good will and get that perfect gift for that
special some one in your life. Possibly your lover, mother or brother. Each year the same trend seems to be followed. September and October
roll around and the season begins to change. The trees color turn light red and yellow as they begin to loose their leaves. The temperature drops
and it is soon October 31st, Halloween as we all know. A fun tradition that all enjoy participating in. Children dress up in costumes and run from
door to door trying to spread...show more content...
And each culture has their own little twist to the holiday. Similar to the Easter Bunny on Easter, we some how adopt another character that
has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus, and that character goes by the name of Santa Clause. An elder, fat, white haired man, wearing a red
suit and stocking cap, with cherry red nose and a laugh that can bring joy and be heard for miles. He is known for living at the North Pole and
traveling around the world by sleigh pulled by mystical flying reign deer. As crazy as it all sounds, I personally believed in the man at a
younger age. This is strange, because he does not exsits. At least in today's day and age. The very thought of a strange fat man breaking into
a home via chimney and leaving a bunch of wrapped up junk under a dead tree seems ludicrous, and I would have called the police by now.
But this fantasy character is spoon fed. You hear about the man only once a year, and he can be read about in story books, he can be seen at
your local mall, he is splashed all over stores and merchandise, written into cartoon shows and seen on the news and TV sitcoms. As much as
Santa does not exist he is as real as president George W. Bush. Maybe respected a little more. And in a sense Santa Clause is the driving force of
Christmas as we know it. Or at least that's the show that is put on for the youth of

The Definition of Christmas Essay
The sole definition of Christmas at one time was, an annual church festival in memory of the birth of Christ. Now when the word Christmas is
mentioned people think about lights, trees, presents, food, friends and family, along with the birth of Christ. Some view these added meanings as
a good change and some view them as a bad change. In today’s world Christmas is not defined only as celebrating the birth of Christ
but also the celebration of giving, and the celebration of family and friends.
From Old English, Cristes maesse “Christ’s mass,'; was the origin of today’s word Christmas. It was the
day, December 25, that Christians held mass to celebrate the birth of...show more content...
It did not use to be like this. People weren’t able to get on a plane and fly across the country or across the world to visit family or
friends. Today people should feel lucky for this commodity but often over look it.
Looking at what Christmas use to be. Christmas Eve a family would go to late mass. The next day they would go to morning mass. In the
afternoon the family would celebrate Christmas together and possibly exchange a few gifts. Christmas night the family would have dinner then
attend a late mass. Today Christmas is different. Christmas Eve family goes out to a friend’s Christmas party. Christmas morning
they gather and open gifts. The family might then go to an afternoon mass. Come Christmas night they will drive over to another family
member’s house and exchange gifts and have dinner. The meaning of Christmas has slowly changed in meaning over the years from
being about the birth of Christ to being about giving gifts and visiting others.
Giving gifts and visiting with family and friends is not a bad thing at all. But in all the giving and all the visiting, people are slowly forgetting
what the major part of the definition of Christmas. Today Christmas is the celebration of Christ, the celebration of giving, and the celebration of
family and friends. People

Narrative Essay About Christmas
There is a week before Christmas, and we are at my grandmother's house to celebrate.
Every year, my mom's side of the family gets together for the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. While we are celebrating,
there is much laughter and joy. There is no quiet place in the house. While the adults are upstairs laughing and joking, the kids are downstairs in
the basement, mimicking the adults. While I would like to think that my family is perfect, the truth is, they are not. There are fights that go behind
the scenes between family members, and this causes some to dread attending such events. The reality of the situation is that no one can pick their
family. Even though I sometimes do not agree with or enjoy some of my...show more content...
Gazing at the casket, I tried to remember anything about her that I thought was important and realized that I could not think of anything. She had
attended most of the holidays at my grandma's house, but there is not much other than that one point that I could truly think of. It was then that I
reached another realization, I did not know my great–grandmother all too well. Throughout the rest of the funeral, I remembered my mother
talking to me from the the years that have passed about visiting my late great–grandmother. "Rachel, we should visit your great–grandmother
some time. I'm sure she would love that very much." It was not until after the funeral that I realized the importance of family members before it
was too late to truly know and experience them fully in my life. The consequences of not knowing who my great–grandmother truly makes me
regret not going to visit her. When I was younger, my father's side used to get together for Christmas. We would round up the three families
together and plan for a date that would work for everyone. Gathered in a tiny living room and placed in a circle, we would exchange our
presents to the other family members. Afterwards, we would sit, talk, and eat food. My cousins and I would always play together. As the years
passed, the family met less and less. After the course of multiple years, we hardly get together. I barely know some of my cousins as they had

A Christmas to Remember
It's the most wonderful time of the year. Lights are shining brightly, and the snow was a white blanket over the brown grass.(metaphor) It was
December 24th and everyone was eager to start their Christmas traditions. I especially was more than ready to begin my Christmas festivities. I

My family and I arrived just in time to begin the first of many activities. Cousins, uncles, aunts, and family friends gather into the warm, cozy
home. Everyone was filled with cheer and joy. The first sight when we arrived was the beautiful, dazzling Christmas tree that was like a statue of

Arriving home at 1 a.m. was truly torture.(metaphor) This is because making the choice to either go to bed or stay awake until morning is the

cake! I jumped out of bed and ran down stairs to make breakfast.

I sent my brother to the hospital and ruined his Christmas break one year when I lived in Canada during the holiday season which started in
December not in November like here in the US because our Thanksgiving falls on the first Monday in October. So, we usually start to

to decorate the tree my mother oversaw putting the lights in the tree. The lights on the Christmas tree was always multicolored the ornaments that

Important Essay: Why Christmas Is Important?
Christmas
Why is Christmas such an important holiday? The importance of why people love this holiday can come from their own point of view on it.
For many people Christmas is to celebrate because it's the birth of Jesus, for kids is a day to get presents from Santa clause .The importance of
Christmas to me is that I get to see my family all together. We have fun and talk and eat and get together which is something we don't do during
the rest of the year. My family gets together once a year, on Christmas.
I care about Christmas because it's the only time of the year where my family is all together in one place enjoying life. I have three sisters, two
of them live with me and my parents here in Odessa but the oldest one lives in Mexico. When I was in Mexico my dad was living here and

All the years we celebrated Christmas and new year's with our community, even though we saw our dad only that week seeing him and
celebrating Christmas with our whole family and our neighbors made it a time to remember and a great memory to have in our hearts.
Christmas here is boring. Not in a bad and ugly way but I was used to seeing a lot of people and having fun with family and friends and here its
only us and even though I will always love Christmas it's not like we do anything special on that day, other than spending the day with my whole
family once a year.
But it is the birth of Jesus, why can't this be why I love Christmas. I am Christian and I know this is the reasons why Christmas is an important
holiday to this country and many around the world. But it is not why I love Christmas the most, there are Christian kids around this country and
the only thing they care about is cool and fun toys under the tree. People love Christmas not for one reason but for a special reason that fills their
heart with happiness. Mine is seeing my family and all the holiday spirit around my house and in my

My Christmas Experience
Christmas at my grandparent's home was one of the best experiences, my extended family, exposed to me. My extended family consisted of my
grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and neighbors (Seccombe, 2012). The house was lit up with lights and the Christmas tree was in the corner
over the room with the Lionel train set underneath. The day would start early on Christmas eve, Id help my grandmother prepare the food for the
dinner to come. I would peel the potatoes as she prepared the mushroom soup. I breaded the smelts as my grandfather deboned them. Perogies'
and onions cooked on the coal stove above the fire; as the ham and kielbasa baked in the oven. The aroma of food consumed her home, I can still
smell it today. My family fasted on Christmas eve, so the meat couldn't be eaten until midnight.
As the meal cooked, we would get dressed in our Christmas attire. I wore a sweater that I received from my Aunt the previous year. It was ugly
and I didn't like it, but mom made me wear it. Our extended family showed up one by one, until there was no room left in the kitchen. They piled
downstairs and sat where they could, the table, steps, or the cot under the window. My grandfather, the patriarch, sat at the head of the table in his
usual spot (Seccombe, 2012). After dinner, I always got stuck washing the dishes, I was the oldest of the cousin.
Later, Gram played the organ as everyone gathered in the living room to sing Christmas songs. My grandfather sat in his chair, by the

At Christmas, gifts are the perfect human ginger to treat everyone on your list. They're cute, delicious, and you get this feeling of childhood
Christmas. This year, why not give your family and friends a creative gift that is guaranteed to be unique and original, a gift from our favorite
holiday cookie: gingerbread. When I'm in the supermarket today, I saw a great idea of art – a kit of gingerbread. It came with 4 men gingerbread,
icing and candies pre–made parts. I took a kit for my own children, and then went to get 3 more for my nieces and nephews. We decorate the
house and cookies and made me think. Otherwise, how would it be funny if not using our own human homemade gingerbread cookies? So I

Growing up Christmas was by far my favorite holiday, and Santa was my favorite person. Every year I would sit down, rip a piece of paper out
of my notebook, take my fuchsia colored crayon, and think long and hard about what I wanted from Santa. I would always get frustrated because
I never knew if the toy I wanted was being made at the North Pole. My Mom would always reassure myself by saying,
"Santa has helpers all around the world, so if he doesn't make a toy you want he will ask his helpers to find the toy you requested." This
would always make me feel better about what toys I would choose. I began writing in detail about what I wanted. I would then put my letter
in an envelope and address it to the North Pole. I would sit by the door patiently, every day waiting for the mailman to arrive to see if Santa
would write back. Finally, after many days of waiting I received a letter from Mr. Claus. I remember looking at the envelope and seeing his
name in big cursive letters. Santa had the most beautiful penmanship I had ever seen. Santa always made my dreams come true. As a little girl,
I always wished for a Barbie dream house. A place where I could take my Barbie dolls and turn them into real life using my imagination. I woke
up at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning, and ran downstairs to see my dreams had come true. Standing in the center of the living room was
a 6 story high, bright pink, fully furnished Barbie dream house. I remember bursting into the room and

New York Holidays
There are many holidays to celebrate, for example Christmas, Hanukkah, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's day, Easter, and a few more, but
i'm just going to go over a few of them.
On Christmas, the most enormous holiday of the year, there are many things to enjoy. Who doesn't like waking up to gifts under theChristmas
tree? There is also all of that delicious hot chocolate to drink. And amazing food to eat such as ham, potatoes, and the chocolate bars in your
stocking. And who doesn't like to sit down, relax and listen to the Christmas songs? Don't even get me started on decorating the Christmas tree, all
of the stunning lights, the fascinating ornaments, and the sparkling gleaming star on top. Just hope you don't knock it over! Ok, who likes
snowball fights? I mean, on Christmas you have giant amounts of snow, why not have a good old snowball fight? And if you are in Hawaii or
Florida or some other place that doesn't get snow, you're missing out on the fun. I would suggest moving to New York, they have so much snow
they can't keep the streets clean in winter. So to Florida, we send our regards. Wait, there's supposed to be a point to this paragraph? Well, uh,
kids, don't give Santa a hard time, keep your Christmas list short.
You could also say the same about Halloween, one of the most well known holidays to celebrate in the USA and Ireland. Who doesn't love a
good scare at a haunted house? You get to eat all of the delicious sugary candy, the Snickers, Milky Ways,

Argumentative Essay On Christmas
It was a nice and snowy day. Bright colors everywhere. People rushing to buy gifts at the last minute. Ongoing commercials of people having a
great time. Kids going to sleep hoping to wake up with gifts the next day. For the rest of the world it was Christmas! The one day after their
birthday that they look forward to in a year. For me though it wasn't Christmas. For me, this was another normal day. I had nothing to look
forward to. Except my aunts tamales, which is the only thing "special" we do for Christmas. Before I had family members who still didn't go
to church. And i know what your thinking. "Wait a minute, aren't christians supposed to celebrate Christmas?" "Isn't it a day to
commemorate Jesus's birth?" Millions of people around the world believe that the Christmas tradition is the birthday celebration of Jesus
Christ. Well that's not true. According to my church anyway. We believe that the bible never gives a specific date to when he was born. In
fact, if you research it, he was most likely born in early fall. There's proof to support this claim to, but I won't get to into that topic. Anyway i
was looking forward to this Christmas because I rarely ever got new toys. This and my birthday were probably the only two times i got new
toys. I was expecting something big, but my parents told me not to. We obviously didn't do Christmas so my only chance at toys was with my
two uncles, Angel and Carlos. Luckily, my wish came true. I got a few transformer toys and a

My Favorite Holiday Is Christmas Essay
I don't know about you, but my favorite holiday is Christmas; there's nothing better than waking up on Christmas morning to see what presents
your parents had gotten you. This was my favorite part of Christmas and if you asked other kids they would say the same thing. Christmas was a
time for opening gifts and enjoying time with family. Luckily for me, I went to my grandma 's on my mother's side. One year we go to my mother
's side and the following year we go to my father 's side. Even though I love getting presents on Christmas, it is not the only great thing about the
holiday; spending time with your family, friends, and remembering Jesus Christ are important too.
On the morning of December 25th, 2010, I was a twelve–year old boy. Waking up on Christmas morning was something I had been looking
forward to for a few weeks. I was beyond excited to see what presents I had gotten from my parents. There was nothing better than getting to
see what new toys I would have to play with. I woke up around 7 A.M. and ran into my parent's room to wake them up so we could open our
presents; while I was jumping for joy, they were half awake and trying to get out of bed before I pulled them out myself. After they finally got
out of bed we went into the living room. This is where we have always opened presents on Christmas Day. In my family, it has always been a
tradition to open all of our gifts on Christmas morning. I sat on the couch with my mom, my two dogs with us, and my dad sat in

Essay About Christmas

  • 1. Narrative Essay About Christmas "Addie wake up!" my little brother Ben beamed as he shakes me awake. "It's Christmas!" he said excited. I rolled over and laughed tiredly then we went to wake up Anna, our older sister. When we finally were all back downstairs they said, "Stay here until we say we're ready" pointing at the end of the hallway. They setup the video camera and Mom's camera before we could go out. Meanwhile, we carried on a conversation, remembering that today is Jesus' birthday and how special it is! Christmas is more than just gifts, food and break from school, it is about the love and happiness we all share and most of all, rejoicing because our savior has been born! It was time to see what Santa had brought us! We run down the hall in our new pajamas, and into the dining room. Three large sacks with our names on them were full. He left us a note saying, "Hope you all like your gifts! Merry Christmas! Signed Santa Clause" Some don't believe in Santa, and I don't necessarily believe that the real human Santa exists, but the Santa we all have inside of us instead. The loving, joyful, giving, laughing, passionate and kind person that lives within us is the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Favorite Christmas Essay My Favorite Christmas When I look back and think about Christmas, one specific Christmas stands out. It was the Christmas when I was 8 years old. That was the year I discovered the true joy of Christmas. Before that Christmas, I thought Christmas was just about waking up, opening presents and having a big family dinner. Here is the story of my 9th Christmas... To begin with, the season started out like all the others, making a Christmas list, writing a letter to Santa, and making sure I would not be on the naughty list. First, I sat down with my paper and pencil and began writing a detailed, specific list of all the things I wanted. The list included a new Barbie doll, art supplies, the beautiful pink sweater I saw in a department store window, just to name a few items. Now that I had my list, I wrote my letter to Santa to make sure he knew what I wanted. Dear Santa, it began, followed by a list of the items I wanted the most and concluding with highlights explaining how good I had been all year and really deserve to get the items listed, just to make sure Santa knew I was on the nice list. Next, just to make sure there wasn't any question that I belonged on the nice and not the naughty list I began doing extra chores. Mom always liked it when I helped her set the table. Dad could always use an extra had washing the car. I even helped my little brother pick up his toys in his room, without even being asked! Then it happened, something that changed my attitude towards Christmas. It was the last day of school before winter break. Our last assignment of the day was simple, make a wish for the holiday season and present it to the class. My wish was simple, that Santa brings me everything on my Christmas list. My list wish was very similar to most of my classmates. Next, it was Emma's turn. I didn't really know Emma even though she had been in my class all year. She seemed different from my friends. Her clothes always looked old and worn. She was quiet, not very friendly. Although she was always invited to birthday parties, she never joined in. I never really paid much attention to her, just avoided her because she was different. As Emma shyly made her way to the front of the class I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Descriptive Essay About Christmas It's Christmas Eve and I scurry about the house getting ready for the party. Sense I live by myself I had plenty of time to set up Christmas decorations and it was that ample time that made my house a vibrantly lit and covered in lavish decorations of Santa and his minions. The smell of ham permeated the air as I giddily pranced towards the oven putting on mittens to take out the supple honey ham. I brought my nose up close to the ham smelling deeply before I said "Aww that golden brown meat is cooked to perfection, supple and succulent" It was at that moment that there was a knock on the door. "Come on in," I hollered through the house," feal free to make yourselves at home." I set the ham down on the counter as I walked out of the kitchen to go and great my guest's. As I walked out I saw Sally running towards me. "Grandpa!" she exclaimed excitedly. I gave here an evaluating look saying, "My you've gotten big how old are you now?" She held up all the fingers in her dainty little–left hand before saying "I'm five now." "Wow already five years old your growing up so fast, making me feal so old, " I said while hunching my back over to look older than I already did. She looked at me confused while saying "But, you are old grandpa. Hey is there anything that you need help with?" "No sweaty, " I stated while giving her a warm smile," Now go sit down so grandpa can go talk with your dad." She took one more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Narrative Essay About Christmas The way that I celebrate Christmas is by getting woken up by my younger brother, Drew at five o'clock in the morning by him saying "Santa Claus came to our house, wake up, wake up Haley!" I go to my grandma Goins' house first and then my other grandma and grandpa Schaub's house on Christmas day later on. The family that attends at my grandma Goins' house is my aunt Robin and uncle Mike, also my cousins, Kara, Peyton, Kyle, Sadie, and Hunter. My sister, Jessica, and Dakota and their child Lucas also come to the Christmas gift opening party. • 5. Essay about Christmas Season During the holiday season, it is easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas. As clichГ© as this may sound I find it to be very truthful. There seems to be a lot of pressure put on regular everyday average Americans, to celebrate, share the good will and get that perfect gift for that special some one in your life. Possibly your lover, mother or brother. Each year the same trend seems to be followed. September and October roll around and the season begins to change. The trees color turn light red and yellow as they begin to loose their leaves. The temperature drops and it is soon October 31st, Halloween as we all know. A fun tradition that all enjoy participating in. Children dress up in costumes and run from door to door trying to spread...show more content... And each culture has their own little twist to the holiday. Similar to the Easter Bunny on Easter, we some how adopt another character that has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus, and that character goes by the name of Santa Clause. An elder, fat, white haired man, wearing a red suit and stocking cap, with cherry red nose and a laugh that can bring joy and be heard for miles. He is known for living at the North Pole and traveling around the world by sleigh pulled by mystical flying reign deer. As crazy as it all sounds, I personally believed in the man at a younger age. This is strange, because he does not exsits. At least in today's day and age. The very thought of a strange fat man breaking into a home via chimney and leaving a bunch of wrapped up junk under a dead tree seems ludicrous, and I would have called the police by now. But this fantasy character is spoon fed. You hear about the man only once a year, and he can be read about in story books, he can be seen at your local mall, he is splashed all over stores and merchandise, written into cartoon shows and seen on the news and TV sitcoms. As much as Santa does not exist he is as real as president George W. Bush. Maybe respected a little more. And in a sense Santa Clause is the driving force of Christmas as we know it. Or at least that's the show that is put on for the youth of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The Definition of Christmas Essay The sole definition of Christmas at one time was, an annual church festival in memory of the birth of Christ. Now when the word Christmas is mentioned people think about lights, trees, presents, food, friends and family, along with the birth of Christ. Some view these added meanings as a good change and some view them as a bad change. In today’s world Christmas is not defined only as celebrating the birth of Christ but also the celebration of giving, and the celebration of family and friends. From Old English, Cristes maesse “Christ’s mass,'; was the origin of today’s word Christmas. It was the day, December 25, that Christians held mass to celebrate the birth of...show more content... It did not use to be like this. People weren’t able to get on a plane and fly across the country or across the world to visit family or friends. Today people should feel lucky for this commodity but often over look it. Looking at what Christmas use to be. Christmas Eve a family would go to late mass. The next day they would go to morning mass. In the afternoon the family would celebrate Christmas together and possibly exchange a few gifts. Christmas night the family would have dinner then attend a late mass. Today Christmas is different. Christmas Eve family goes out to a friend’s Christmas party. Christmas morning they gather and open gifts. The family might then go to an afternoon mass. Come Christmas night they will drive over to another family member’s house and exchange gifts and have dinner. The meaning of Christmas has slowly changed in meaning over the years from being about the birth of Christ to being about giving gifts and visiting others. Giving gifts and visiting with family and friends is not a bad thing at all. But in all the giving and all the visiting, people are slowly forgetting what the major part of the definition of Christmas. • 7. Narrative Essay About Christmas There is a week before Christmas, and we are at my grandmother's house to celebrate. Every year, my mom's side of the family gets together for the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. While we are celebrating, there is much laughter and joy. There is no quiet place in the house. While the adults are upstairs laughing and joking, the kids are downstairs in the basement, mimicking the adults. While I would like to think that my family is perfect, the truth is, they are not. There are fights that go behind the scenes between family members, and this causes some to dread attending such events. The reality of the situation is that no one can pick their family. Even though I sometimes do not agree with or enjoy some of my...show more content... Gazing at the casket, I tried to remember anything about her that I thought was important and realized that I could not think of anything. She had attended most of the holidays at my grandma's house, but there is not much other than that one point that I could truly think of. It was then that I reached another realization, I did not know my great–grandmother all too well. Throughout the rest of the funeral, I remembered my mother talking to me from the the years that have passed about visiting my late great–grandmother. "Rachel, we should visit your great–grandmother some time. I'm sure she would love that very much." It was not until after the funeral that I realized the importance of family members before it was too late to truly know and experience them fully in my life. The consequences of not knowing who my great–grandmother truly makes me regret not going to visit her. When I was younger, my father's side used to get together for Christmas. We would round up the three families together and plan for a date that would work for everyone. Gathered in a tiny living room and placed in a circle, we would exchange our presents to the other family members. Afterwards, we would sit, talk, and eat food. My cousins and I would always play together. As the years passed, the family met less and less. After the course of multiple years, we hardly get together. I barely know some of my cousins as they had moved Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 10. Important Essay: Why Christmas Is Important? Christmas Why is Christmas such an important holiday? The importance of why people love this holiday can come from their own point of view on it. For many people Christmas is to celebrate because it's the birth of Jesus, for kids is a day to get presents from Santa clause .The importance of Christmas to me is that I get to see my family all together. We have fun and talk and eat and get together which is something we don't do during the rest of the year. My family gets together once a year, on Christmas. I care about Christmas because it's the only time of the year where my family is all together in one place enjoying life. All the years we celebrated Christmas and new year's with our community, even though we saw our dad only that week seeing him and celebrating Christmas with our whole family and our neighbors made it a time to remember and a great memory to have in our hearts. Christmas here is boring. Not in a bad and ugly way but I was used to seeing a lot of people and having fun with family and friends and here its only us and even though I will always love Christmas it's not like we do anything special on that day, other than spending the day with my whole family once a year. But it is the birth of Jesus, why can't this be why I love Christmas. I am Christian and I know this is the reasons why Christmas is an important holiday to this country and many around the world. But it is not why I love Christmas the most, there are Christian kids around this country and the only thing they care about is cool and fun toys under the tree. People love Christmas not for one reason but for a special reason that fills their heart with happiness. • 12. My Christmas Experience Christmas at my grandparent's home was one of the best experiences, my extended family, exposed to me. My extended family consisted of my grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and neighbors (Seccombe, 2012). The house was lit up with lights and the Christmas tree was in the corner over the room with the Lionel train set underneath. The day would start early on Christmas eve, Id help my grandmother prepare the food for the dinner to come. I would peel the potatoes as she prepared the mushroom soup. I breaded the smelts as my grandfather deboned them. Perogies' and onions cooked on the coal stove above the fire; as the ham and kielbasa baked in the oven. The aroma of food consumed her home, I can still smell it today. My family fasted on Christmas eve, so the meat couldn't be eaten until midnight. As the meal cooked, we would get dressed in our Christmas attire. I wore a sweater that I received from my Aunt the previous year. It was ugly and I didn't like it, but mom made me wear it. Our extended family showed up one by one, until there was no room left in the kitchen. They piled downstairs and sat where they could, the table, steps, or the cot under the window. My grandfather, the patriarch, sat at the head of the table in his usual spot (Seccombe, 2012). After dinner, I always got stuck washing the dishes, I was the oldest of the cousin. Later, Gram played the organ as everyone gathered in the living room to sing Christmas songs. My grandfather sat in his chair, by the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Informative Essay On Christmas At Christmas, gifts are the perfect human ginger to treat everyone on your list. They're cute, delicious, and you get this feeling of childhood Christmas. This year, why not give your family and friends a creative gift that is guaranteed to be unique and original, a gift from our favorite holiday cookie: gingerbread. When I'm in the supermarket today, I saw a great idea of art – a kit of gingerbread. It came with 4 men gingerbread, icing and candies pre–made parts. I took a kit for my own children, and then went to get 3 more for my nieces and nephews. We decorate the house and cookies and made me think. Otherwise, how would it be funny if not using our own human homemade gingerbread cookies? So I decided that we will go tomorrow and ingredients Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Descriptive Essay About Christmas Growing up Christmas was by far my favorite holiday, and Santa was my favorite person. Every year I would sit down, rip a piece of paper out of my notebook, take my fuchsia colored crayon, and think long and hard about what I wanted from Santa. I would always get frustrated because I never knew if the toy I wanted was being made at the North Pole. My Mom would always reassure myself by saying, "Santa has helpers all around the world, so if he doesn't make a toy you want he will ask his helpers to find the toy you requested." This would always make me feel better about what toys I would choose. I began writing in detail about what I wanted. I would then put my letter in an envelope and address it to the North Pole. I would sit by the door patiently, every day waiting for the mailman to arrive to see if Santa would write back. Finally, after many days of waiting I received a letter from Mr. Claus. I remember looking at the envelope and seeing his name in big cursive letters. Santa had the most beautiful penmanship I had ever seen. Santa always made my dreams come true. As a little girl, I always wished for a Barbie dream house. A place where I could take my Barbie dolls and turn them into real life using my imagination. I woke up at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning, and ran downstairs to see my dreams had come true. Standing in the center of the living room was a 6 story high, bright pink, fully furnished Barbie dream house. I remember bursting into the room and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Argumentative Essay On Christmas It was a nice and snowy day. Bright colors everywhere. People rushing to buy gifts at the last minute. Ongoing commercials of people having a great time. Kids going to sleep hoping to wake up with gifts the next day. For the rest of the world it was Christmas! The one day after their birthday that they look forward to in a year. For me though it wasn't Christmas. For me, this was another normal day. I had nothing to look forward to. Except my aunts tamales, which is the only thing "special" we do for Christmas. Before I had family members who still didn't go to church. And i know what your thinking. "Wait a minute, aren't christians supposed to celebrate Christmas?" "Isn't it a day to commemorate Jesus's birth?" Millions of people around the world believe that the Christmas tradition is the birthday celebration of Jesus Christ. Well that's not true. According to my church anyway. We believe that the bible never gives a specific date to when he was born. In fact, if you research it, he was most likely born in early fall. There's proof to support this claim to, but I won't get to into that topic. Anyway i was looking forward to this Christmas because I rarely ever got new toys. This and my birthday were probably the only two times i got new toys. I was expecting something big, but my parents told me not to. We obviously didn't do Christmas so my only chance at toys was with my two uncles, Angel and Carlos. Luckily, my wish came true. I got a few transformer toys and a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. My Favorite Holiday Is Christmas Essay I don't know about you, but my favorite holiday is Christmas; there's nothing better than waking up on Christmas morning to see what presents your parents had gotten you. This was my favorite part of Christmas and if you asked other kids they would say the same thing. Christmas was a time for opening gifts and enjoying time with family. Luckily for me, I went to my grandma 's on my mother's side. One year we go to my mother 's side and the following year we go to my father 's side. Even though I love getting presents on Christmas, it is not the only great thing about the holiday; spending time with your family, friends, and remembering Jesus Christ are important too. On the morning of December 25th, 2010, I was a twelve–year old boy. Waking up on Christmas morning was something I had been looking forward to for a few weeks. I was beyond excited to see what presents I had gotten from my parents. There was nothing better than getting to see what new toys I would have to play with. I woke up around 7 A.M. and ran into my parent's room to wake them up so we could open our presents; while I was jumping for joy, they were half awake and trying to get out of bed before I pulled them out myself. After they finally got out of bed we went into the living room. This is where we have always opened presents on Christmas Day. In my family, it has always been a tradition to open all of our gifts on Christmas morning. I sat on the couch with my mom, my two dogs with us, and my dad sat in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
