IT Staff Engineer
• Primary Systems Engineer for Corporate Oracle ERP financial systems. This Complex VCS clustered landscape
included 200+ systems ranging from Sun/HP Linux Blades to Sun fire v440, M5000-M4000 and DL380’s.
Supported application and customized replications methodologies, Shadow Image, True Copy, Flashsnaps
allowing business to replicate Prod DB instances anywhere within the landscape creating dev instances within 2-3
hrs.
• Member of 6 person UNIX team responsible for supporting over 30,000 + physical & virtual servers. Providing
Critical Service Levels and maintaining the highest server to admin ratio in the industry. This diverse
environment primary included Redhat and Solaris OS. The hardware ranged from SunSparc & x86/IBM/HP BL
class blades/chassis to Sparc Enterprise M5000 and VMware ESX hosts. The supported landscapes covered a
broad spectrum, which included Oracle RAC Linux/Solaris, Solaris Enterprise VCS clustering, Apache Web,
Netbackup, and all Corporate Services.
• Primary Support and implementation and migration for DataPower from Solaris/SAN to Oracle RAC Linux on
Netapp filers. The end result of this migration is a net savings of $860K with an ongoing monthly savings of
~$100K. In 8 months, the project returned $1.21 million of SAN by replacing it with $350K of NETAPP. Also
leveraging flexclones and snapshot capabilities on the NAS array.

Senior UNIX/Linux Engineer
• Team lead of the Unix/Linux Engineering group and currently responsible for all Critical & Enterprise Financial
landscapes that demand 99.999% uptime. Created and managed a team of 5 engineers. This complex landscape
included 120+ Oracle/SAP Enterprise UNIX & Linux servers, which includes, SAP CRM & BW, Hyperion
Reporting, Deltek Costpoint Time & Expense and Financial servers, Enterprise Data Warehouse, People Soft, Web
Portal, Veritas Netbackup servers and etc.
• Developed and created OS standards, best practices, and consistency throughout the systems and focused on
enterprise solutions. Perform OS builds, kernel and system tuning, routine hardware/software patch
maintenance, volume management, and data migrations and system upgrades.
• Created an enterprise server automation build process and introducing a standard base images specific to
landscapes that incorporated security, SOX standards, application and specific Oracle standards.
• Developed processes to assist in achieving the highest level of service and availability to our customers;
monitoring system vitalities, thresholds, hardware alerts, and custom alerting scripts.
• Migrated legacy SAP financial environment to a Deltek/Hyperion Financial environment within a 3 month
period of implementation with minimal impact and downtime.
• Upgraded and migrated legacy Tru64 to HPUX Itanium for SAP financial servers running BW, CRM, Data
Warehouse, and Solutions Manager.
• Upgraded Netbackup 6.5 environment and increased performance in backup and recovery. Integrated all
UNIX/Linux systems to a common authentication leveraging Active Directory services and minimizing on
account maintenance for users and administrators.
2. Systems Architect
• Lead systems architect for all UNIX/Linux enterprise server environment. Architected and engineered a high
available financial system integrating multiple UNIX clustered environments and providing SLA of 99.999%.
• Architected and created standards for NPARS, VPAR, blades, and UNIX virtualization solutions to consolidate on
hardware, gain flexibility, and alleviate data center power, heat, and other environmental limitations.
• Systems architect for a complex SAP CRM/BW and Data Warehouse landscape including 15 database servers, 25
load balanced application servers, and 4 separate environments; sandbox, DEV, QA, and Production.
• Architected a large Hyperion/Deltek Financial Reporting and Oracle DB landscape leveraging enterprise
hardware, virtualization, and SAN tools increasing performance backup times.
• Created relationships with hardware vendors and was responsible for creating specifications, SOW, support
levels, and quotes in the procurement of system landscapes.
• Implemented and architected a DR environment to support financial systems. Team lead and tested procedures
for failover and functionality for DR systems.
SAN and Storage Engineer
• Consolidated enterprise SAN environment and migrated from a 30 switch mesh topology to a Core (Brocade
Director 24000) edge topology with minimal downtime.
• Administered and Engineered a diverse SAN environment including and XP 12000, EVA 8000, two EVA 5000,
two EMC Cx700, and two EMC Cx400. Supported 250 + terabyte environment, allocating/dealocating space,
architected storage arrays via storage groups, LDEVS, and MetaLUNs.
• Integrated a diverse and multiple OS environment including Tru64, Solaris, Windows, VMware, and Linux.
• Created SAN standards and documentation for multi-pathing best practices, storage requests, and lun creation.
• Reduced 4 hour processing time to 10 minutes utilizing EMC time finder & BCV’s toggling between 2 clones.
Kyocera Wireless: Aug00 to Feb05
Senior UNIX/Linux Engineer
• Primary Support for 24X7 Mission Critical Production Servers running Sun Solaris 2.6, 7/8, HPUX 10.20, 11.00,
and 11.11 with production numbers estimated over 1,500,000 cell phones per month and an established 99.9%
uptime. These Production systems are running Oracle 9I, Oracle 1.6, Oracle 8.1.7, Oracle 8.1.6, Oracle 11i in
Enterprise multi fabric/redundant brocade SAN environment attached to EMC Symmetrix and Clariion Cx700
frames. Primary Support for DBA’s, Engineers, and Application Developers in a global large-scale enterprise-
manufacturing environment. Worked closely with the DBA to resolve Oracle database problems.
• Primary support of UNIX enterprise servers in a 24X7 manufacturing and Oracle ERP environment utilizing
critical troubleshooting skills to maximize Critical uptime. Experience in Solaris and HPUX Installations, Kernel
Tuning, File system Management, Space Management, Capacity Planning, Backup & Recovery, Security
Auditing, and hardware installations and maintenance.
• Primary lead for Disk management and Oracle migrations utilizing Veritas, LVM, Power Path, SAN Copy, Mirror
View, Snapshot, and other EMC management utilities.
• Supported and Implemented UNIX standards such as DNS, NFS, Ignite UX, Auto-FS, Samba, NIS, Sendmail,
NTP, Netscape Enterprise Server, Apache, etc.
• Project Lead for the migration of all manufacturing legacy systems running HPUX 10.20 to 11.0 and 11i. Upgrade
of legacy systems and standardization of enterprise servers and systems into the Qualcomm Proprietary tools,
such as, Grapevine Configuration Management Tool, MDB, and PH. Integrated UNIX and Linux server into the
enterprise tool set creating consistency throughout all environments.
• Migrated primary Manufacturing HPUX servers to Fujitsu/Clariion solution consolidating our enterprise server
solution.
• Primary support for engineers, supporting mecad and mentor applications. These systems featured custom nfs,
automount, grapevine (custom enterprise management tool proprietary from Qualcomm), and other specifics.
Utilized performance Tools such as Glance Plus, PerfView, Sar, Implementation of Network Node Manager and
other monitoring tools. Customization and supported Development of Perl Code and shell scripts.
• Project Lead in an overseas wireless-manufacturing endeavor. The team project with Brazil that instituted a
manufacturing environment capable of yielding over 200,000 phones per month. Implementing and Designing
enterprise systems able to support estimated yields. Trained, documented, and managed employees abroad.
• Implemented a standard Linux image for engineering and clients for Enterprise 2.1, 3.0, 9.0, 8.0, and 7.3.
Specialization in kick start and up2date integration with current environment. Project lead and support for an
implementation of Linux environment.
3. • Enterprise Web Servers running Tomcat and Apache. Marketing endeavor to publish a front-end site enabling
brow ability and compare of products. The Admin Module site, an intranet site allowing Kyocera to change
product information. The Preview Site, an intranet site allowing Kyocera to preview product changes. The
Publishing Process, java application that takes the changes applies them to the front-end.
SAN and Storage Engineer
• Migration, implementation, and design of a large enterprise storage solution consisting of 80 Terabytes of
production/Development data.
• Architect and Designed redundant environment including disaster recovery and enterprise backup solution.
Migrated from legacy production EMC Symmetrix 3430, 3330, and Sun AP200/T3 arrays to two EMC Clariions
CX700 and one CX400. Utilizing EMC Tools and Veritas Management tools - Snapshot, SAN Copy, ERM,
Powerpath, MirrorView, Visual SAN, DMP, Veritas 4.0 and Navisphere.
• Expertise in Migration of large production and development Oracle databases with deliverable of minimal
downtime. Documented and managed design changes and the storage implementation team.
• Primary Implementer, designer, and support for four 32 port Brocade switches in a multi-fabric redundant
environment utilizing zoning and multi-pathing capabilities. Implementing 30 Enterprise Oracle Servers and
