2. OVERVIEW
➤ SaltScapes™ is a full line of supplementary products designed specifically for salt pool owners.
➤ These products will help the salt pool owner maintain a crystal-clear, inviting pool with little
maintenance. They can also help with troubleshooting and solving problems unique to salt pools.
➤ Each product also details one of the seven “Salt Truths” that dispel some of the myths surrounding
salt pools and how they operate.
➤ While designed with the salt pool owner in mind, many of these products will work on traditional
chlorine pools as well.
➤ The SaltScapes™ line contains seven key products for salt pool owners:
➤ SaltScapes™ Chlorine-Free Shock Oxidizer
➤ SaltScapes™ Scale Defender
➤ SaltScapes™ pH Reducer
➤ SaltScapes™ Algae Remover
➤ SaltScapes™ SunShield® Stabilizer
➤ SaltScapes™ Cell Cleaner
➤ SaltScapes™ Test Strip Pack (includes traditional strips and salt strips)

3. SALTSCAPES™ CHLORINE-FREE SHOCK OXIDIZER
➤ SaltScapes™ Chlorine-Free Shock
Oxidizer is a weekly shock
product that contains no
additional chlorine and helps to
break down contaminants that
the salt cell may struggle with.
➤ Swimmers may re-enter the pool
15 minutes after application.
➤ Apply SaltScapes™ Chlorine-Free
Shock Oxidizer at a rate of 2lb (1
bottle) per 20,000gal weekly.
➤ Additional doses of product may
be necessary after heavy usage or
heavy rains.

4. SALTSCAPES™ SCALE DEFENDER
➤ SaltScapes™ Scale Defender is a
specially formulated scale
prevention product that is
specifically designed to prevent
scale buildup in the #1 most
likely location: within the salt
cell.
➤ Keeping scale out of the cell
ensures that your cell will live a
long life and won’t work as hard
to produce chlorine.
➤ Apply SaltScapes™ Scale Defender
at a rate of 1qt per 10,000gal at
startup. Repeat this dose monthly
through the season.

5. SALTSCAPES™ PH REDUCER
➤ Salt pools, due to how the cell
works, frequently deal with high
pH readings.
➤ SaltScapes™ pH Reducer is a
granular product that won’t fume
or smoke, won’t burn hands, and
can reduce pH quickly.
➤ SaltScapes™ pH Reducer is a safer
alternative to muriatic acid that is
easy to store and dissolves quickly
in water.
➤ Apply based on current pH and
pool gallonage; refer to packaging
for amounts. Circulate for 2 hours
before re-testing pH.

6. SALTSCAPES™ ALGAE REMOVER
➤ SaltScapes™ Algae Remover is a
copper-based, non-staining
algicide that kills visible algae
quickly and can also be used as a
weekly maintenance item to
prevent algae growth.
➤ For treatment of visible algae,
apply SaltScapes™ Algae Remover
at a rate of 16oz per 10,000gal.
Circulate for a minimum of 24
hours.
➤ To prevent algae growth, apply
SaltScapes™ Algae Remover at a
rate of 1.5oz per 10,000gal
weekly.

7. SALTSCAPES™ SUNSHIELD® STABILIZER
➤ SaltScapes™ SunShield® Stabilizer is a
balancing product that works like
sunscreen for chlorine; it slows down
the breakdown of chlorine due to UV
(sunlight), reducing how much time
the cell needs to run to chlorinate the
pool.
➤ The main chemical is cyanuric acid, or
CYA.
➤ When CYA is 0: Apply SaltScapes™
SunShield® Stabilizer at a rate of 1lb
per 2,000gal of water to establish
60ppm CYA (recommended level for
salt pools.)
➤ When CYA is not 0: test CYA and
apply as directed by your Water Care
Expert.

8. SALTSCAPES™CELL CLEANER
➤ SaltScapes™Cell Cleaner is an
acid-based solution that breaks
down the scaly buildup that can
form in the cell over the course
of the summer.
➤ Disposal is simple; pour the
used SaltScapes™Cell Cleaner in
the deep end of the pool.
➤ This will cause a very small
change in pH.
➤ Clean the salt cell with
SaltScapes™Cell Cleaner once a
season or as needed if cell is not
operating properly.

9. ➤ Note that the SaltScapes™ product line does not encompass
100% of the items a salt pool will need. Balancing concerns
(total alkalinity, calcium hardness, etc.) will still need to be
addressed; however, salt pools do not need special balancers
for these and can make use of the same products that
traditional chlorine pools use.
➤ Salt pools that frequently get algae may want to use
Optimizer Plus® as a one-time addition (with small
maintenance doses every year or so) rather than using
SaltScapes™Algae Remover on a weekly basis.
