1. 7. LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK,
WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNED IN THE
PROGRESSION FROM IT TO YOUR MAIN TASK?
2. CONTINUITY
Since my Preliminary task, I have learned and improved many skills and such which
have been shown in my main thriller task.
One aspect that I have improved in is my understanding of continuity, which has
been reflected in my final piece.
There were many pieces of continuity in my preliminary task which made it look very
unprofessional. However, we have tried to tackle continuity to the best of our
abilities which has resulted in a cleaner, more professional looking thriller opening.
I have learned to use equipment and technology to help us with this, by looking
back at previously filmed footage, and making sure everything was as it was when
pieces were filmed in the same area.
Overall, we have all established a better understanding of continuity, how to tackle
it, and how much it can help improve the look of our thriller film.
3. MUSIC/SFX
In my preliminary task, there were absolutely no sound effects included
during post production in editing, there was also no music in my film,
which resulted in the film lacking atmosphere and depth.
In our thriller film we included a soundtrack which played throughout the
film in the background which created an eerie atmosphere for the
opening and gave in a certain amount of depth and added to the
already established mystery of the plot. We also included sound effects
in the opening to emphasise certain aspects where we thought
necessary. we chose to do this to point out to the audience how
dramatic the things taking place are.
I have learned to create, edit and add sound effects and music to a
project using such software as Mix Craft and Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
4. STORYBOARDING/PLANNING
During Pre-production of our thriller task, our group produced several
storyboards, scripts and planned days and hours when we would film,
so that we knew what we were doing, what order we were doing it in,
how long we would be doing it for, and when we were going to be
doing it. This is something that I failed to do effectively during the
preliminary task, and my skills in doing as such have improved
drastically which has resulted in a much better product, and resulting
in us being more organised as a group and being more inclined to
contribute to the production of the thriller opening
I believe that this has been reflected in our thriller task because it
allowed us to take more time out to choose a suitable location and
plan out when we would film there to ensure that we used our time
efficiently and merged it in with the schedule for the editing of our task.
