Speedy is a tortoise who finds walking boring and resents that tortoises are an endangered species with many natural predators like eagles, snakes, and humans. Speedy enjoys dancing and staying up late at night talking to imaginary friends, annoying their older sister Sky. Speedy describes their family, which includes shy and artistic sister Anna, curious youngest brother Lettuce who loves lettuce, rock music-loving sister Roxy, and mean older sister Sky. Speedy dreams of escaping to the pet store but wakes up to find it was just a dream.

3. Jan. 5 Hi my name is speedy.I hate being a tortoise.All what you do is walk. We are endangered species. That means that there are not a lot of us. We have lots predators like eagles, snakes, lizards,and MAN. The man is the worst enemy of all.

4. Jan. 20 Did you know I can dance? Yes, I’m a dancing tortoise! I kick dance. This is how I dance: kick, kick, kick, kick.

5. Jan. 30 Shhh… Mom says I should get my rest. But I don’t want to go to sleep. I’m trying to stay up till midnight. “Speedy, who are you talking to?” “Zzzzz, I’m asleep.” “I know you’re awake.” “I’m telling Mom.” “You’re a tattletale.” “just go to sleep.” Sorry that was my very mean sister Sky.

6. Feb. 1 As usual, I’m walking. Break time Mom says. Finally I can eat. Okay you each get a tomato and two pieces of lettuce. I’m hot Sky says. I’m thirsty. I say,. Sky is driving me crazy! I got to get out of here! I know. I’ll burrow. Skritch, skrich. “Mom,” Sky said, “Where’s Speedy?” I dont’ know maybe Hey Mom I found this awesome rock! Said Lettuce. Oh, I forgot to tell you about my4 brothers and sisters. Okay, lets get to my family. Let’s start with Lettuce. Well, his real name is Lucas. He just loves lettuce! So we call him lettuce. Anyway he is the youngest tortoise in the family. So he is very curious. Next is Anna. Anna loves art and she is shy. That’s all I know about her. Roxy likes rock and roll and her favorite color is pink. Weird huh? And you already know all about Sky. So that’s all. Oh and Anna’s 5 and Lucas is 3 and Sky is 9 and Roxy is 10 and I’m 8.
