In the days before sliced bread, Blackpool Milk Loaf was created exclusively for the landladies of
Blackpool by Warburtons and cooked in tins with ridges. When the bread was taken out of the
tin, the bread had a natural indentation where the landladies could slice the bread and ensure
they got the right number of slices per loaf.

Manchester by John Nicols in 1908 and originally sold as Vim Tonic - a health drink cordial with
