Industrial construction heating up
• Construction has been the one thing lagging behind during the expansion of the St. Louis industrial
market over the past several years. However, that is changing very quickly. There is currently almost 5.0
million square feet of construction projects underway or scheduled to break ground in the next year. On
the list are two more speculative buildings in the Metro East totaling 1.4 million square feet. Build-to-suit
projects for Schnucks (915,000 square feet) and GM (1.3 million square feet) will bring additional
developments to the Missouri side of the river; and a speculative building at Aviator Business Park is
also set to deliver later this year for 535,000 square feet.
